I am trying to open pptx files on my MacBook Pro and continue to get "No Text Converter is installed for this application" even though I have dowloaded several converters that were supposed to work and I just downloaded Apache Open Office 3.4.1 with no luck. I am able to open docx files with the converters I have installed but not pptx files.

On Maverick my i cloud will not change the verification phone number even though I have change the phone number in apple and on contacts and restarted the computer. Help? I can't get the code necessary to fix the keychain without it.
You can change the phone number the verification code is sent to from a device or Mac that has your iCloud keychain enabled as follows:
In iOS 8, tap Settings > iCloud > Keychain > Advanced. In iOS 7, tap Settings > iCloud > Account > Keychain. Make sure the phone number under Verification Number is correct. If not, enter another phone number.
In OS X Mavericks v10.9, choose Apple () > System Preferences. Click iCloud, then click Account Details. Make sure the phone number under Verification number is correct. If not, enter another phone number.

It sounds as though you haven't logged in to the service yet. From the ExportPDF website, click Sign in at the upper-right corner, and log in to the service with your Adobe ID credentials. Now, when you click ExportPDF, you'll be prompted to select PDF files to export, instead of being asked to subscribe.

my ipod tells me my apple id password is wrong even though I just changed the password. I can log on via my desktop, but the ipod continues to tell me that the password is incorrect, so I can't update any apps. when I continue to to try to enter the correct password in it finally freezes the account, and I have to go online via my desktop to fix that problem. I have two apple id's because when my ipod crashed I had to reset it completely. I have never had any problems with this before, and it has been a year since I got my second id, which is linked to the ipod. My first id is used for the cloud on the same device. My wife suggested I reset documentson the cloud for the second id, however, when I try to log on the cloud with my current id, it tells me I have to set up the cloud on that device, but it is already done, but with the old id.

Could you confirm that when you re-open the sorted album, the display order on the top bar just over the browsing space is still in 'album' order ? That order may have been changed to a date order. For me, I get the order of the last album I opened, not necessarily the 'album' order of the present album.

I can't save previous word files I have into iWork's, I have dropped the file into pages, but it says it can't convert text, even though I have changed a selective fond from pages! Help!

What is the Word file? From a PC?
What version of Word and what is the file extension?
What is it about the text that is different?
When you say fond do you mean font/typeface? If so what font, and is it on your Mac? Is there something special/different about this font?

My problem is my Macbookpro mid 2010 with OSX 10.7.5 seems to turn off or logs off before timemachine is finished with the backup even though I have changed settings for energy management to "never" shutdown when plugged in to an outlet?
I had this problem on an IMac and I finally found a solution in an unlikely place. The problem was a security setting. I don't remember right this moment the exact setting and I am not on that machine right now but when I am I will try to retrace my steps to the fix. In the meantime check your security settings and any browser or browser extensions for computer log off settings. These settings are intended to prevent unauthorized use and incidentally screw up your backups. Hope this helps.

If the password for your Apple ID works at id.apple.com > Manage Apple ID, then it's likely that the Apple ID the device wants you use is not the same as the Apple ID you are using.
Exactly what screen are you at on your iPhone? It sounds like it is in Activation Lock. -

I have always been very weary of fake emails and can easily spot the ones that get through the spam filters but for the first time in my 25 plus years memory of using email, I though a fake email was genuine.
Ok, granted the email was supposedly from Apple so there's an implied level of trust there and I had updated my Apple ID details hours before, but it was only after doing a double take at the url link in the email I realised it was fake. It was pointing to an IP address (http://104.145.233.95/..etc) and not the usual https://www.apple.com/..etc.
I just wandered how may Apple users, especially new ones would have unwittingly compromised their Apple ID details by this scam. I would love to see Apple doing more to make its users aware of scams directed at them.

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. External drives are comparatively inexpensive these days and you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay. -
