Hi Ive noticed sometimes when people reply to my business email they have thw wrong name in there. Its always the same name a version of my maiden name so I assume at some point I entered it somewhere in Mac Mail but I cant find it anywhere to change
Any ideas?

Hi WZZZ, A few weeks ago I logged on to change my password, and then thought I'd take the opportunity to unsubscribe from old topics that still arrive in the in-box that have gone off topic, or old posts revived by a hopeful inquirer.
From there I saw a few questions and so offered a clue here and there, but I intend to keep a pretty light footprint.
To synergy_gd, I hope you got your old name problem sorted out.

Why when people reply to my email, the reply address is wrong?
         What I did: 1) Mail > Preferences>Composing>Send new message from >[email protected]
         2) Selected the inbox for the correct email address before sending
         3) Selected the from from the composing pane

    @Jscher2000.
It is still a frequent problem. We are dealing with people who are still using Windows XP some still using their trusty 2000 versions.
As for 2003. The same stupid setting is available in outlook 2013 see http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/outlook-help/change-the-message-format-to-html-rich-text-format-or-plain-text-HA102749169.aspx
I will stick to my original statement. Outlook is not an email application. Outlook is an excellent exchange client (its primary purpose) it is also an excellent corporate mail client as long as it is acting as an exchange client. Lotus domino and IBMs websphere have similar abilities and strengths luckily they are not flogged off to the general public as something they are not "a mail client". Outlook is, and does that job in a barely adequate way, providing the general user that is familiar with it's corporate functions a very skewed view of email and how it works.
@sloimpex have you tried right clicking the folder and selecting properties and then repair. Sometime the index get a little screwy and rebuilding it make the invisible visible.

  • Separator page prints out with wrong name when printing from Outlook 2010

Working with Windows 7 Enterprise, Outlook 2010.  We've set up our desk printers to print a separator page with the user's name, as several people use the same printers in our building.  Printing from IE, Word, etc. all work fine, and it'll print
out the correct username on the separator page.
When anyone attempts to print an Outlook email, it instead prints out my username.  We've found that it doesn't happen if they click on the "quick print" button, but it happens every time if they do "file > Print" or Ctrl+P.

    Hi
As per the information and details provided by you that separator page prints out with wrong name when printing from Outlook 2010, please follow these steps: -
To create a custom separator page file, use a text editor such as
Notepad. On the very first line, type one single character, and then press
Enter. The character on this line defines the character used as an escape character. For example, the following list assumes that this character is the at sign (@).
Enter the escape codes for the functions you want, and then save the file with an .sep extension in the Windows System32 subfolder.
In the Print Manager, select the printer that you want to use the separator page file with, and then click
Choose Properties on the Printer menu.
    Click
Details, specify the name of the desired separator page file in the
Separator File box, and then click OK.
    Note:
Put the custom separator page file in one of the following locations:
    In the %Windir%System32 folder.
In a folder whose path contains a SepFiles folder. For example:
    Drive:\Folder\SepFiles\Subfolder
I hope this information will be helpful for you.
    Thanks and regards

  • Received an email with attachment when I replied to the email; i can no longer view the attachement

When replying to an email with attachment, later when I need to review the attachedment, it can't and just gives a file name <????.pdf> i tried to search my downloads and documents for the file pdf but cant be located.
It seems that attachments are lost when you reply to an email?
Look forward to resolving this problem with Lion

    Try a reset ...
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
No data is lost due to a reset.

  • When I reply to an email, instead of sending it to the recipient, it sends it back to me. I've checked the sent mail folder and the reply is not there either.

When I reply to an email, instead of sending it to the recipient, it sends it back to me. I've checked the sent mail folder and the reply is not there either. Replying used to work fine, but all of my replies are sent to my inbox, instead of going to the recipient. I've made sure that the recipient's email address is in the send to box.

    Cause of the issue
Gmail webmail accounts do not have separate sent items and inbox folders. The Gmail account web page contains a Sent Mail link on the left side, but this is not a separate folder from the inbox. Gmail webmail messages are grouped into conversations, resulting in all sent messages and replies from others appearing as a single email message entry in the inbox. This allows for easy reading and viewing on the Gmail web page, but, when integrated with the BlackBerry Internet Service account, results in copies of sent email messages arriving on the BlackBerry smartphone as new email messages.
    Resolution
To prevent sent messages from returning to the BlackBerry smartphone each time, create a filter in the BlackBerry Internet Service account to block the sending of those messages to the BlackBerry smartphone.
To create a filter, perform the following:
Log in to the BlackBerry Internet Service account. For instructions on how to log in to the BlackBerry Internet Service account, see KB03781.
Click the Filters icon next to the integrated Gmail account.
Click Add a Filter to create a new filter.
Configure the filter so that email messages are not sent to the BlackBerry smartphone if the email message originates from the Gmail webmail account integration:
Type a name for the filter into the Filter Name field. For example, My sent Gmail email messages.
Set the Apply filter when field to "FROM" field.
Type the Gmail webmail address into the Contains field. For example, <user name>@gmail.com>.
Select the radio button beside Do not forward messages to device.
    Click Add Filter.
Note: After creating this filter, email messages will not be received on the BlackBerry smartphone if sent from the Gmail webmail account.

  • When I reply to an email it changes the 'sender'

When I REPLY to an email, my reply is being sent from my default sender address instead of the account the message is being sent to.
I have several email address which I use daily and this has never happened until the last week. I have checked all my identity settings and they each correctly detail the individual emails.
I am able to change the sending address before hitting send but this is besides the point. I have spent a week sending from the wrong email address before I realised the problem was occurring.
This is an urgent problem for me as I have different businesses run on the same Thunderbird account.
    Thank you.

It's likely that the message isn't really sent twice, but appears in your Sent folder twice because you have instructed Thunderbird to place a copy in your Sent folder and the same setting also exist in the configuration of your email provider, e.g Hotmail, Outlook, etc.
In Thunderbird check Tools > Account Settings > Copies & Folders > Place a copy in:
It's likely that setting is turned on. You can try switching it off and then send a test message to yourself and see if it shows up in the sent folder anyway, if so it's because your email provider is keeping copies of your sent messages for you.
It's up to you which setting you want to keep turned on, the one in Thunderbird or the one for your email provider.

  • After upgrading to Mountain Lion, when I reply to an email from the Global Inbox it incorrectly selects the reply to address.

Ok, since upgrading to Mountain Lion, when I reply to an email from the Global Inbox it incorrectly selects just my main business email account, even if the email was sent to a completely different persoanl address. This use to work without issue in Lion. I have at least a half dozen accounts that all come into the "Global Inbox" and I never worried about what account I was replying from as it always matched the account the email was originally sent to.
Now in Mountain Lion, this is broken and no matter what email I select it defaults to my main account and I have to remember to manually select the proper reply address from the drop down menu. So far the only way to avoid this is the keep all the separate account Inboxes showing and then selecting the account that I want to view. Then when I repy it is to the correct address, but having to do this makes the "Global Inbox" view completely worthless! If I have to select teh correct Inbox to get the proper reply address every time then what is the point of having a Global View?
Why did you break this Apple?

    Hello,
When you compose a message right click on the attachement and choose "View as Icon".
I know there was a Terminal command to set all attachements as icons by default but never tried it :
    - You can also use the Terminal (in your Applications folder > Utilities) quit Mail, and type in the Terminal :
defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -boolean yes
    - To restore the original settings type :
defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -boolean no
    (source)
    Hope this will help.

  • I added an image as a signature which works great if a compose a email, however, the image signature is not added when I reply to an email?

I've added a image as a signature when a set up my email account. This image is successfully added when I compose a new email. When I reply to an email, the image is not added and I have to copy it manually from a newly composed email. I assumed that there should be a way around this?

Goto Account Settings and look under the section Composition & Addressing. There are two tick boxes for including signatures in replies and forwards.

  • Why does my internet password show up when I reply to an email from my cell?

Why does my internet password show up when I reply to an email from my cell?

this question is extremely broad. can you describe what you mean? where does the password show up? in the signature line? as the subject? in the body? and what internet password? your home provider? your cell provider? what's the password for? your email account? or is your phone password protected? details.

  • What is wrong to cause someone replying to an email sent from my iPhone to always bounce back to them?

What is wrong to cause someone replying to an email sent from my iPhone to always bounce back to them?

It isn't for advertising. It is to let recipients know the message was sent from your iPhone in the event there are mispelled words, ect. You can add whatever you want such as sent from my mobile device.
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Signature. Select Clear and don't enter anything, or enter whatever you want.

  • When I reply to an email on my desktop computer, my BB re-downloads the original message

I use a personal email account through my university, which has an Outlook exchange server, though I do not take advantage of the synchronization features because of the extra fees. In other words, I do not use BES, I just POP into my email account from my Blackberry.
Here is the problem: whenever I reply to an email using Outlook on my desktop computer (or using any other computer via Outlook Web Access), my Blackberry instantly downloads a copy of the original email. It doesn't matter if the original email was a month old, or a minute old. Also, it will download a copy of the original email even if the original email is already sitting in the Blackberry message inbox (resulting in two copies on the Blackberry). This is very annoying.
Any suggestions to stop this behavior?

This seems to be an annoying part of the newer OS.  When I first got my Pearl in 2008, I didn't have that occur.  However once the OS got upgraded, and now with the Tour, it seems like that is the way it works.  Not clear to me why they would have thought this is preferable.

  • Wrong name shows up attached to my email address when I send mail.

I reply to emails (or send them) and an unaffiliated name show up as sent from or to. For instance, I write an email to a client from my [email protected] email account and instead of showing up as from Sue VonderBecke, it shows up as being from Elaine Abbey! I think it does this on the inklings account and my gmail account but I can't be sure as it only happens sporadically. How do I purge Elaine Abbey from the system?

Tools menu (ALt+T) > account settings.
Click on the account entries and check the display name is corre3ct.
Click on the outgoing server (SMTP) and ensure the correct server is selected for Default.
Finally make sure the gmail SMTP server is for the account you think it is. IF you use a gmail account registered to Elaine Abbey to send mail for another name Google will very helpfully correct the sender.

  • My I-Phone 4S SIRI uses the wrong name when talking to me

When I talk to SIRI and ask a question the voice refers to me as Bernice, which is my wife's name and she also has a 4S

In settings, Calendar, Contacts and Email, on my iPhone, I made sure to select my Contact Card in my address book...multiple times. But Siri continued to address me by "Suzanne," my wife's name! Looking further, inside my contact card info, I noticed that the "Nickname" field had my wife's name listed. This could be due to my setting up my new phone with an iCloud backup "Restore"  from our family Apple ID. I deleted her name from that field, and VIOLA, that did the trick. Hope this helps others!
