TS4062 Can't sync wirelessly with new iPhone

I've done all seven steps here http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4062?viewlocale=en_US. I have an iPod, iPad, and iPhone 4. All were syncing wirelessly. I upgraded the iPhone 4 to an iPhone 5. The new iPhone won't sync wirelessly. The iPad and iPod still sync fine. On the iPhone, the "Sync Now" button is greyed out. I have iOS 6.0.2, iTunes 11.0.1, and Mac OS X 10.7.5.
Why does this have to be such a pain?

Ever since the new version of itunes came out, I can't sync my ipod with it. I have Windows 7 and an ipod nano.
Doublechecking ... do you have the new 10.6.1.7 version (released yesterday, NZ Time)?
From the notes for the release:
iTunes 10.6.1 provides a number of improvements, including:
• Fixes several issues that may cause iTunes to unexpectedly quit while playing videos, changing artwork size in Grid view and syncing photos to devices.
• Addresses an issue where some iTunes interface elements are incorrectly described by VoiceOver and WindowEyes.
• Fixes a problem where iTunes may become unresponsive while syncing iPod nano or iPod shuffle.
• Resolves an ordering problem while browsing TV episodes in your iTunes library on Apple TV.

  • Sync single song via iTunes with my iPhone 5 & can't sync music with my iPhone

    Hey there,
I have two questions about iTunes and my iPhone 5.
    1) I have my full music library connected with iTunes and most songs are not bought via iTunes. Now I have alle artists listet up with their albums.
Can I now sync only one single song from an album with my iPhone 5? If I want to sync music with my iPhone I can only choose between Playlists, Artists,       Albums and Genres but not single songs. Is there a possibility to sync single songs from a full album?
    2) The other problem is when I want to sync music (and only music!) iTunes starts syncing with my iPhone 5 and nothing happens. After a while a get an error         that the synchronisation is stopped because it couldn't start syncing. Why? What can I do?
I use a windows 8 laptop with the newst version of iTunes and iPhone 5!

Which iTunes version is installed on your computer?
What happens when syncing? Any error message provided?

  • Can't sync music to new iPhone

    Hi,
My new iPhone arrived today and I have set it all up and used the restore from backup following backing up my old iPhone.
However, I can not seem to be able to sync music to it. When I go into the phone when it's connected and go to the music section I only see an option to sync voice memo's. When I click this I can then see my old play lists which are the ones I want to sync, however it doesnt put them on the phone.
There is a message on the above screen stating that the phone can download songs from my icloud, but I don't want that. I want to sync them from my PC.
All my other data such as contacts and old texts etc have sync'd.
Also... on another seperate note, does anyone else have a problem with this forum where the cursor moves back to an older finished sentence when you puase for to long?

The problem reported by FireFly62 may be different from that of adam.b.
FireFly62, your probable problem is this:
Syncing of music via iCloud (iTunes Match) precludes syncing of music via iTunes. This is not a bug, you simply must decide whether to use iTunes OR iTunes Match but not both, to sync music on your phone. To stop syncing music via iCloud and use iTunes to configure what is synced, on your phone go to Settings / Music / iTunes Match and turn that OFF. Then go back to iTunes on your computer, then Devices / [Phone name], select Music from the top menu,  configure your sync settings, and click Sync.
Alternatively, if you wish to use iCloud/iTunes Match to sync but only via Wi-Fi, then on your phone go to Settings / Music / iTunes Match, make sure it's on, and change its subsetting "Use Cellular Data" to OFF. However, this may prevent you from listening to your music via phone when you are away from a Wi-Fi network.
My problem may (or may not) be similar to that of adam.b.
Here are specifics of my situation:
I sync several playlists. Two of them contain songs in iTunes but remain empty on my iPhone 5. (I am using iTunes 10.8.2.)
In iTunes, under Devices, in the Music section of my listed phone device, the songs on two of my (supposedly) synced playlists are grayed out. Each grayed-out song has a cyclical icon next to the song number, as if the song were in the middle of being synced. But no sync is in progress.
No matter how many times I select Sync, the songs in these two lists are not synced. No error message appears during sync, either. Other lists are fully synced.
If I unsync all Music in iTunes, apply the change, then resync, again these two playlists are not resynced. If go to Preferences / Advanced in iTunes and reset warnings and the cache, then Sync, again nothing happens with these two playlists. If I copy the songs from these two lists to two new lists, again none of the songs in these two new lists are synced.
If the problem is due to a corrupt library file, I am very reluctant to delete my library file and recreate my playlists from scratch.
I'm going to test it now, but I do already hve the option to choose what music to put on. I'll post back if it works.

  • Can't sync music on new iPhone 4

I have a new iPhone. I cannot sync my music which I have in iTunes for my iPod Touch. Each line has an exclamation point in front which means tune can't be "located." Everything else syncs fine. How do I get the tunes "located" so I can sync them?
    Thanks,
    David

The music sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The only exception is itunes purchases.  File>Transfer Purchases
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.  Use your backup copy to move everything to your new computer.

  • Cannot sync music with new iphone 5 or podcasts

This is so frustrating, Podcasts start to download on my phone then tell me theres an error, I can't sync my itunes music with phone either. I've searched on here and appled many techniques. I am subscribed to podcasts. I've checked manually manage music, there's only 2 songs i've imported by CD that I want!!
    Can anyone help?

What happens when transferring Podcasts from your iTunes library on your computer to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process, which is selected under the Podcasts tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes?
if I go into my music on my phone and choose 'not on this iphone' the music comes up I choose what I want to download and the same thing as the podcast happens so I connected to itunes via my macbook air and it won't sync!
The first part is not syncing with iTunes. This is for downloading music on your iPhone that was purchased from the iTunes store - that is not on your iPhone. This does not apply to Music imported into your iTunes library on your computer from a music CD unless you have iTunes Match enabled with your iTunes account.
What error message is provided if any when trying to transfer music from your iTunes library on your computer to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process? Manually managing music and videos requires dragging the music from your iTunes library to your iPhone located under Devices in the iTunes source list. Syncing requires selecting Sync Music under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes and making your selections below followed by a sync. What happens when doing this?

  • When you can't sync iphoto with your iphone

When itunes gives you an error while trying to sync your pix from iphoto just go into the iphoto library and delate the folder named "iPod Photo Cache".
When you rename an album in iphoto, since the cache file doesnt change, you end up having a mismatch which messes up itunes' mind, therefore just delate that folder (it will automatically recreate with new titles once you sync your iphone again) and everything is going to be alright!

Okay, I solved my problem. Not obvious or easy, but here's what I did. (I'm cutting and pasting the instructions I found that I followed, along with additional clarification from me below):
I went to my iPhoto library in the Finder. There's a file named AlbumData.xml. If you double click it, it should open in Safari. When I opened mine, at the top it said that it was displaying everything up to line so-and-so where there was an error. Good! Now I'm on to something. Next, I used the Find function in Safari to search for "AlbumName". The last "AlbumName" it found was just before the end of the file, so I went back to the next to last "AlbumName" and made note of the album name immediately after it. Then, I opened iPhoto, found the corresponding album in iPhoto to the next to last album name in the AlbumData.xml. Then I changed the name of the album immediately after it (which should have been the last album name in the AlbumData.xml file, but was not displayed because there was an error). Closed iPhoto, opened iTunes, everything works!
Additional clarification: You'll note that when you open the xml file in Safari (drag and drop - and I had two files, oddly, I used the one without a number 2) it says at the top "BELOW IS A RENDERING OF THE PAGE UP TO THE FIRST ERROR". Scanning into the final lines I noticed that a slideshow was what the instructions seemed to be about - a "12 months" sort of deal. I deleted that slideshow from my iPhoto, and voila, all restored when I synced my iPhone with iTunes.
The point is, whatever is at the end of the safari presentation of the xml file is what you should focus on....

  • Itunes can not sync apps with the iphone [name], because it can not determine which apps are installed on the iphone.

After installing the latest Version of iTunes (10.5.1.42) on my Windows XPs PC it's not possible to sync my iPhone 3GS (not iOS 5!) any more - I get the error message above. It's possible to download music, apps, podcasts - but not possible to sync with my iPhone..
    Any Ideas?

Basic troubleshooting is reset, restart, restore.  Have the first two been tried?
How about simply unplugging the iPhone and plugging it back in to sync?
What has been done in an attempt to troubleshoot the issue?

  • I can't sync apps with new iMac.

On all the other sections, like music, there's a sync box I can check or uncheck.  For some reason on apps there's no box I can check.  My iPhone shows it's still syncing with my old computer.  Anyone know how to fix that?

I fixed it!! I just had to authorize the new computer hihi

  • Can't sync contacts with my iphone using icloud?

I have tried to sync my contacts on my iPhone and iMac and will only go one way.  From the iMac to the iPhone through iCloud.  When adding new contact to the phone it won't appear on the iMac contacts.  I have 696 contacts on the iMac and and 750 on the iPhone.  Any ideas?

Ok.   If you want the 696 contacts currently in iCloud to be the master list and have them replace the contacts on your phone, do the following:
On your phone, go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts off and choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted.
Download the app My Contacts Backup to your phone.  Open the app, tap the gear icon on the lower right, and in the window that opens, scroll to the bottom and tap Remove All Contacts.  (If you want to back them up first, you can use the app the back up the contacts on your phone as a vCard attachement to an email that you send to youself, which can later be used to restore them if necessary.)  Confirm that all contacts are now deleted from your phone.
Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts on again.  Confirm that the 696 contact from iCloud are now on your phone.
Add a test contact on your phone and confirm that it appears on icloud.com and your Mac now.  If so, you should be all set.

  • Sync issues with new iphone

Hi, I've recently upgraded to an Iphone 5S. I've gone thru all the motions of set-up and synced it to my current Itunes library. All went ok. I tried to update the phone today and the device is no longer recognised in ITunes and a message prompt appears on the phone saying 'Trusted Computer'. I have had an update on the device recently for IOS 7.0.4, i'm not sure if this has affected my settings. Is there a way of sorting this out?, i've tried doing a full reset of the device and had no luck i still get the 'Trusted Computer' prompt

    Hi PugsleyS!

  • Cannot synce photos with new iPhone 4

Just upgraded my AT&T 3GS to iPhone 4.  Did the initial sync with no problems except it did not sync the photo I selected.  Tried rebooting both thr phone and the computer (Windows 7).  Still doesn't sync photos.  I runs through optimizing photos twice then says sync is complete.  Never had problems syncing the 3GS.  Both phone and iTunes have the latest updates.  Suggestions?

if she backed up in ios7 she can restore from the cloud in ios7
if she backed up from a device on ios8 then she has a problem.
    Which is the case?

  • Can't sync music with new iPod Touch. Help!

I recently received a new iPod Touch for Christmas. However, last night, my moniter on my computer stopped working. So, until I was able to purchase a new one, I simply hooked up and old moniter to my hard drive so I could use my computer.
This moniter is very old, and considerably smaller than my other one, but I thought that it would work just fine. But today, I went to register my new ipod, and the registration screen on itunes was way too small. I could only see about three fourths of the page. I was unable to see and press certain buttons that I would need to in order to register my ipod and sync my music.
So, I went on the iTunes website and went ahead and registered my ipod there. Now, when I plugged in my ipod again, it was still asking me to register it on itunes, but I can't because of my screen. and I can't scroll left or right, because there isn't even a scroll bar.
My ipod is already registered, but now, does anyone know how I can skip the itunes registering process so I can just go ahead and get my music?
    Thanks!

Yes, I did that. But my screen is too small, so when it comes to the Terms and Conditions page, the only options I can see are Cancel and Save.
I already registered the iPod on the iTunes website. Can I go ahead and sync my music now? Or must I go through a registration process on the iTunes program in order to get my music?
