TS4337 mobile me password on my Imac preferences is not recognised?

I am trying to sync iCal to MobileMe but when I sign in to mobileme in preferences the password does not work with this window popping up below, any help would be appreciated?
I can log into icloud account with no problem with my password, does not make sense to me.....grrrrr
Many thanks

Thanks for the prompt reply!
Preferences does not have iCloud though, only MobileMe, does that mean I cannot sync iCal on my mac as it is sync'd to my iphone and works no problem?
I have tried changing email address to @icloud.com (as this works sending and receiving emails) but makes not difference.
In iCal the option to sync is greyed out, but gives an option to sign into MobileMe. It also says to turn on synchronization in MobileMe preferences although there is no option to do this?

  • Imac thunderbolt port not recognising hardware

I recently purchased a late 2012 27' imac 3.4GHz, i7.  The things works beautifully, however I'm having a particular issue with the thunderbolt ports.  It's not recognising hardware I plug in - to either port.  I've done a fair bit of research - done the whole restart thing, tried different combinations of connecting and booting up, uninstalling and re-installing the hardware drivers I'm trying to connect, used previous versions of the drivers, tested the hardware on my old macbook pro and it worked, but the new imac is just not recognising it through the thunderbolt ports.  Specifically, the hardware is a Mbox 3 Pro, with Firewire 800 to 400 to thunderbolt cable.  Long chain, but I do know it works.  Any help/ideas on getting the imac and hardware to communicate would be greatly appreciated

I assume you mean System Information?
    The Thunderbolt Bus information reads:
    Firmware Version: 23.4
    Port:
         Status: No device connected
         Link Status: 0x7
         Link Controller Firmware Version: 0.12.3
    Port:
         Status: No device connected
         Link Status: 0x7
         Link Controller Firmware Version: 0.12.3
Since the post, I went out and bought a new thunderbolt adapter, but still no go, it's weird because the Mbox pro is consistently working on my laptop but not on the Imac.

  • TS1541 imac will does not recognise my password or username

My iMac does not recognise my password or username. have installed the Mac OS X disc that came with the computer and put in place a new password and username, this worked for a day and has now shut me out again? I dont want to have to reinstall the OS X disc again. What are my options?

The most common reason for this is caps lock. Check that it has not been activated.
Is it a wired keyboard or wireless?

  • I have forgotten my password to get into my mac bokok pro. I have used my iPad to reset the password but my Mac book does not recognise the reset password.

I have reset my password using my iPad. Why does my Mac book not recognise it to allow me to log in to it?

What password did you change and what password is your Mac requesting.
Without details all you will get is guesses.

  • IMac external display not recognised although previously it was recognised.

I have been using a secondary display for several months without problems. Now the iMac refuses to recognize it's existence. The secondary display gives message 'No Input Signal' Any ideas as to what has gone wrong?

No other settings that I know of on the monitor. What is puzzling is that it has worked for three months and I have not knowingly changed anything apart from OS updates. The iMac just does not detect the second monitor so it is not appearing in Display Settings dialog.

  • First time starting up iMac, USB keyboard not recognised

i have tried to set-up my imac, however the keyboard is not recognised and says that i have to turn on my bluetooth keyboard when i have  a USB keyboard and it will not go on to the next step.

    Hi manocchio1994,
Thanks for contacting the Apple Support Communities. I understand your keyboard is not recognized when connecting if for the first time and I know how frustrating that can be. There is a fantastic article available for USB keyboard troubleshooting I would recommend.
None of the keys on my keyboard work
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1996
Troubleshooting your Apple USB Keyboard Step-by-Step
If your keyboard keys still aren't working after trying the steps in USB Basic Troubleshooting, try these steps, in order, until you've come to a resolution.
    ▪ Unplug all devices from your computer, including your mouse and keyboard, as well as your printer, scanner, cameras, iPod, external hard drives, and hubs. (Warning: Some devices, like iPods, may require you to perform steps before it is safe to unplug them.) If you have a hub, don't forget to unplug it as well.
    ▪ Plug your keyboard and mouse back into your computer firmly and securely. Take special care to make sure that the connector is completely in the port. (USB plugs fit into ports one way only, and won't plug in if you try to plug them in upside-down.)
    ▪ If that still doesn't work, try plugging your keyboard in to the other USB ports. Be sure to try them all. Check to see if the keyboard's Caps Lock light turns on when you press it, and try typing in one of your applications, such as TextEdit.
    ▪ If your keyboard works in one of your USB ports but not all, your computer may need service to resolve an issue with its USB port or ports.
If your keyboard doesn't work in any of your computer's USB ports, it appears that your keyboard isn't functioning properly and needs to be replaced. You can order this part online. Order a replacement keyboard.
If needed, I suggest resetting the System Management Controller as well. Those steps can be found in the following section of this article.

  • HT3964 my iMac desktop will not recognise any dvd or cd. It ejects them without starting them. Have tried doing an SMC!

Would anyone please have any advice for an imac desktop 2010, that no longer reads CDs or DVDs. The CD drive ejects any disk without reading it including the system disk!

Your SuperDrive may need cleaning or replacement, if it's covered by AppleCare then make an appointment and Apple will replace it for free. If you don't have AppleCare then go to an office supply store and get a cd/dvd drive cleaning kit and use it. If that fails then make an appointment at your local Apple Store or AASP to have the machine serviced. Another alternative is buying an external DVD burner and connecting it via USB to your iMac. While not as ideal an internal drive it should work just fine.

  • IMac disk drive not recognising discs

    Hi everyone,
I have a late 2009 iMac (21.5in 3.06Ghz) which is out of warentee. Recently, the disk drive has began not recognising disks, mainly CD's, while it still burns to CD-R's and plays most DVD's. I have reset the SMC and completed all other Apple troubleshooting steps with no luck. I phoned a repair specialist who told me that replacing it would be very expensive (£100-£200 I can't remember exactly) for what it is. I really do not want to pay this.
Does anyone have any other ideas, or has anyone suffered similar problems and managed to fix it? All help would be appreciated... easy points here!
    Regards,
    Nathan

    Suggestions...
Make sure that you don't insert CDs with stuck-on labels.  The internal tolerances are tight.
If the drive proves to be in need of repair or replacement, it may be more cost effective to buy an external USB-connected drive.

  • WEP password from my iMac G4 flatscreen not support by Time Capsule

    Hello,
I've just installed my new Time Capsule (dual band) today in combination with my new MacBook Pro. It all works fine, however I also have an 'old' iMac G4 17" flatscreen and here is the problem: although I use Mac OS X 10.4.11 I can't connect to the newly designed WiFi 802.11n network as I used to do so. When I fill in the correct WPA-personal password (the same as I use for my MacBook Pro) the button OK doesn't get highlighted so I can't click on it. It seems that my old iMac only support WEP-password security, but I can't believe that.
What do I do wrong and what should I do in order to get my old iMac G4 17" flatscreen connected to my new (Time Machine powered) wireless network?
Thanks in advance for your swift help!
    Kind regards,
    Marco

    Hi,
I've set the parameter for 'Radio Modus' for the Time Capsule on:
'Only 802.11n(5GHz) - 802.11b/g' , because I don't know the difference between all these settings.
Still I can't log in with my iMac G4 flatpanel as the AirPort software which is part of Mac OS X 10.4 by the way only supports the following modus:
    PASSWORD options"
    - No
    - WEP-password
    - WEP 40/128-bits hex
    - WEP 40/128-bits ASCII
    - LEAP
    - WPA (personal)
    - WPA (business)
    - wpa2KeyTypes
Non of the WPA password options seem to work!!??@
Do you perhaps have an idea how to configure the 'Radio Modus' for my Time Capsule and what kind of Password methodology I should use accordingly?
    Thanks!
    regards,
    Marco

  • IMac preferences are not being saved, also in Mail.

I had to restore some files from my time capsule that I mistakenly delete. The files were restored but after the restore My desktop changed. Many of my dock icons were gone, and several applications were not working. It looked like some of the applications went back to earlier versions, including Safari, Firefox, and Mail. My mobile me account is also inactive. My Quicken data was also lost. I tried to restore my Quicken file from time machine, but there was no data. I had a backup of My Quicken data on iDisk, and it restored ok, but when I logged out of Quicken and retarted it later the data was lost again.  I did a disk check on the Time capsule and found out it was corrupted. I did a repair disk on it and now it seems to be OK.
When I try to restore  my preferences in iTunes, Mail, Mobile me, Safari  etc. nothing gets saved. I have to re-enter them every time i launch them.
Mobile Me Mail is also not working. I tried to activate my Mobile Me account again but Apple is not supporting it anymore.
I would appreciate any help I can get on this.

Since replies to questions and comments in these Discussions
is mostly from users who are registered to post & reply here,
you may find better result in a call into AppleCare support and
if there is an incident or case number involved in the issue you
have experienced with corrective actions taken so far in your
communications with Tech Support(?) by phone, be certain a
reference is made to that conversation, for proper follow-ups.
+{You could refer someone you talk to there, to your post in here.}+
There may be some other issue, perhaps relating to hardware
or something else, that may bear looking into. Have you seen
a result of the system log files and reports, such as Console
generates from the computer in action? There may be a clue
in those almost cryptic reports. Also, you have a hardware test
on bootable partition in the original system install disc; that's a
specific test version for your computer, an Apple Hardware Test.
Boot instructions are on the disc's label. Run it in a repeat-loop.
Is there any third-party software installed later on, which could
result in complications or conflicts with the Mac's Mail app?
The problem, if not software, could be hardware. Or a logic error.
If you have AppleCare coverage in effect on the computer, that
is the call to make; and keep track of your incident/case number.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • IMac i7 27" not recognising/charging USB connected iPhone4 with iOS4.1

I just bought an iMac 2.93Ghz Core i7 27" Screen, to do some iPhone app development on.
    Problem is:
When I connect my iPhone4 (iOS4.1) in any one of the USB ports, the new iMac fails
to acknowledge it or start to charge it. The ports work happily with
wired keyboard, mice and powered external Hard drives.
My iPhone4, when plugged into the USB port of my older iMac Core Duo 20" (10.6.4)
gets found and starts charging almost immediately.
One extra bit of info, my wifes iPhone4 (iOS 4.01) when plugged into the new iMac does
get found. So I starting to think there is an issue between the versions of iOS for iPhone4
that makes iOS 4.1 not be recognised on my iMac i7.
Has anyone seen anything similar or could cast some light one this?
I've also done a PRAM and SMC reset in the hopes that they may help, no luck.
    Thanks
    Asim
p.s is there any (non-jailbroken) way to downgrade my iOS4.1 to workaround this?

  • IMac G5 does not recognise datawrite +R DL

iMac G5 2.0 with Tiger and latest software update with DVD PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K04L and firmware Revision D441.
I place the DVD in the slot and it the Mac is obviously trying to read it but the it ejects it. The display does not even show an icon on the desktop. I have checked the internet but have found no help. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

First, and forgive me if this is a dumb question on my part, I presume you're certain your iMac has a dual-layer capable SuperDrive? Only the last generation of iMac G5, introduced in May of 2005, had a dual-layer SuperDrive.
But if you know for sure that your iMac has a dual-layer drive, you might just try a different brand of media. Some brands work better in some drives than others. Otherwise, if you don't get an answer here, try asking in the iMac G5 area. This forum is for the new Intel-based iMac and so perhaps not the most likely place for you to get a quick and accurate response.
    Good luck.

  • My iMac Yosemite does not recognise my new WD Elements external hard disk

Does Yosemite include drivers for the WD Elements external hard drive?

    Several questions:
Can it be seen in Disk Utility (applications - utilities - disk utility)?
Has it been formatted to Mac OS Extended (Journaled)?
Where are you looking to see if it can be seen by OS X?
    Please answer all three questions.

  • How do I find the password for my iMac on version 10.7.4?

How do I find the password for my iMac on version 10.7.4?

DO NOT FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE ABOVE LINKS.
Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the Mac OS X Utilities screen appears, select Utilities ▹ Terminal from the menu bar.
In the Terminal window, enter “resetpassword” and press return. A Reset Password window opens.
Select your boot volume if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
Select  ▹ Restart from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but you won't be able to unlock the Keychain. If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it. You’ll need to reset your keychain in the preferences of the Keychain Access application.

  • Password protecting my iMac

I have recently changed over from Windows and been pretty happy with my new iMac.Sofar all is well, but now I realized that I like to have my machine protected from anybody else using it when I am not around away from home.In Windows I could password it so that it would not even boot up.I don't yet know how to that in Mac OSX Snow Leopard.
When I initially set the system up I did make a password, but how doI use it to protect the iMack?

In addition to what Dave mentioned, which is good advice, you can also set your computer to require a password every time it wakes from sleep or from the screen saver... see System Preferences -> Security in the General tab. You can also set up a firmware password, which operates at a lower level than any of the others... see:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1352
Note, however, that any of these things can be bypassed, for anyone who knows how. The only thing that can truly protect your data from a determined thief is encryption. You can create encrypted disk image files, using Disk Utility, in which to store sensitive data. You could also encrypt your entire user folder using FileVault (in System Preferences -> Security), but that's major overkill for most people, IMHO.
