Turn off fans on mac pro

Hi all, i founded many programs to monitor fans speed and temperature like iStat... Does anyone known if exists a program that allow me to turn off some fans ? regards

Turning off any fans in the mac pro, would surely result in something very very bad, very very quickly.
CPU fans absolutely must remain function... after 20 minutes of high load your CPU's could boil water - luckily they will emergency shutdown before then... basically your machine turns off and your CPU(s) are at risk of serious and permanent heat damage. Its a bad idea to kill the fans by the hard drives... hard drives will turn off when overheated, and they will have drastically reduced lifetimes. A power supply, as a brody says, will likely catch on fire without its fan running. The northbridge on these babies gets hot as **** already................... and RAM error rates go up FAST as it gets high
In short turning off any of these fans could, and will, cause serious damage to your computer.

  • Forgot to sign out of iCloud and turn off find my Mac before selling.

I Recently sold my MacBook Pro and had it wiped clean at the Genius Bar but didn't know I was supposed to have turned off find my Mac and sign out of iCloud. I went back to the Genius Bar before shipping my computer and asked if I needed to set up the computer again just to sign out of find my Mac/iCloud and the guy had me sign into iCloud and go to find my Mac to make sure my computer wasnt showing up on the map anymore and it wasn't. Since my computer doesn't show up on find my Mac will the buyer still have trouble setting up his iCloud or have access to my info? I don't know if my computer wasn't showing up because it's not turned on and set up right now until the buyer gets it. Just wondering if my info is safe when he tries to set up the computer as his own.

To restore your iPhone, you must turn off 'Find My iPhone' first. If you can't do that on your iPhone directly, you should open https://icloud.com/on your computer with a web browser > log in with your iCloud account > click Find My iPhone > remove your iPhone from Find My iPhone.

  • Cannot turn off find my mac

Given the risk of having it on vs. off, I have decided to turn off Find My Mac.  But when I do that it asks for my Apple ID password.  That makes sense.  But it will not accept the password.  I can sign into my Apple ID using the password, so I know it is right.  I can sign in and out of iCloud on all my other devices using this password.
Now, to add to the story, my wife has a Mac.  Same thing.  Her Apple ID password works on every other device, but she also cannot turn off FInd My Mac.
We both are running Mavericks on a Late 2013 MB Pro.  We loaded the MBs 6 months ago from TM backups.  I suppose that could be a source of the problem, a bug there.  So we are both running the same HW SW and have this same issue.
I can stop by a Genius Bar someday and get them to look at it, but anyone have a clue?

My laptop does not travel.  Someone gets into your Apple ID and you would wish you did not have it on.  the question is the probability of one vs. the other.  I plan to leave it on for my iPhone and iPad, they travel.  But getting my Mac wiped would not be cool.
But this is not a thread on the merits of Find My Mac.  It is a thread on the problem, I cannot turn it off.  Or more presicesly, I suppose the problem is my Apple ID password does not seem to work for this function only.

  • Can anyone tell me how to stop / turn off my new macbook pro properly?

Hey. Can anyone tell me how to stop / turn off my new macbook pro properly? Every time I want to put away my computer for a while and then restart the computer again at a later time the battery has been used. That is, the computer indicates that I have used battery, even though I put away the computer with 100% charged.

Every time I want to put away my computer for a while
Prior to shutting down, attach the Magsafe.  It will prevent your battery from draining while turned off or even sleeping.
is how you shut down properly.

    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
No data is lost due to a reset.

  • Airport keeps turning off on my Mac book

Why does airport keep turning off with no way to turn it back on except a restart?  I've seen countless posts on this, but ot sure if there is a solution.

  • Can you have multiple users working off the same Mac pro at the same time with multiple monitors but doing different things?

I'm buying desktops for a start up company and was wondering if I could purchase a single Mac Pro and run multiple monitors to allow multiple users to work on the computer at the same time. These users would be doing different tasks but I would hope to accomplish that on a single desktop. I know that screen sharing is possible but with only one user controlling both of the screens. Thanks in advance, sorry for my apple ignorance!

A lot of companies are buying or leasing laptops to be used at the office by day, and carried home at night.
Some companies are doing "Bring your own device". Bring a device to receive email -- computer/smartphone/tablet you already have, or have an allowance to buy one for your use.
If Capital is short (and when is it not) leasing computers, to be turned in a few years, can be a huge savings because the cost is expensed as incurred. The alternative is laying out cash today, but not being able to expense the cost this year. Instead, the computer expense must be recovered over their useful life (often five years) through depreciation.

  • 49 Service Error - Turn Off then On - LaserJet Pro 200 M276nw

I was adding to another post for a different printer but didn't want anyone with MY printer to MISS this problem.
***UPDATE*** (at least for my LaserJet Pro 200 M276nw)
I have found the root cause but will need further assistance from someone at HP to "solve" this one....
My new M276nw keeps throwing a 49 Service Error, chat support yielded alot of power off, power on, wait, try again blah blah blah, fuser problems blah blah. 10 minutes of forum searching put me onto possible wireless networking issues with other printers and SSID's. Anyway after returning one printer to Staples and having the problem come up again on a another brand new one....Tried Forum searching & Tada! at least I got to find a root cause.
I have a D-Link DIR-825 wireless router. It has dual band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz).
Normally I have both enabled for the myriad of devices that people have these days in my home.
I updated the firmware to the latest update (20121026) then restarted.
Received the 49 Service Error shortly after restart.
Then I disabled both bands to test each wireless band independently.
The printer acted normally so I decided to enable each band seperately.
When I enable the 2.4 GHz band in the router, the printer immediately throws a 49 Service Error.
I tested this several times (5 to be exact) and each time during the router reboot the printer indicated the error.
So I left the 2.4 GHz band disabled and went on to the 5 GHz band.
I enabled the 5 GHz band 3 times and disabled it and found no effect on the printer (at least within a 5 minute window).
So now I'm left with only a single band wireless router or a printer that likes to restart itself every 20 minutes or so.
There is probably a setting (or 2) that can be tweaked in either the router or the printer that can prevent this (I hope).
I just need to find the right HP person............
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I really wish I could help but I am afraid this is a bit beyond my level of comprehension.  What I took from this was, you have to turn off the duel band feature to get the printer to work without that error message, correct?  The User Guide may help you but when I tried to read it my mind was blown away by just how many settings could be adjusted to fit your needs.  No need to do anything troulbeshooting-wise just yet.  All I need for you to do is look at page 137 on how to set sleep delay and auto power down functions and page 132 for link and duplex settings and let me know if you think it could be something to do with these.
As far as a setting within the router, I do not know.  I did find another user guide with very technical information in it. The Software Technical Reference hinted to bi-directional printing which basically turns off or on the print spooler if the printer was so big it was using up network resources but I am not sure of that at all (see Page 59 for an example). Page 89 and on is a brief introduction to the embedded web server but really these are just definitions, nothing new to report there.
This website hints that it may be a firmware error. Lastly, the only other thing I can offer as you have probably seen it yourself is another HP forum thread regarding your exact error.  I know I won't be of much assistance but some hopefully is better than none. I'm just glad it works partially.  Let me know if I can answer any questions for you but this is just a step out of my league. Good luck!
Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" if I helped solve your problem.
When a solution is found please mark the post that solves your issue.

  • When turn off wi-fi, macbook pro stop responding

installed maverics on my macbook pro 3,1. every time when turn off wi-fi manually, computer stop responding, it then has to be restarted by long press on the power botton.

Wanted the solution to work, but there's no option to Sync this iPod over Wi-Fi option on my Touch.
Settings > General > iTunes Wi-Fi Sync > Sync Now
No option to uncheck to opt out of automatic syncing.  The auto syncing can only be stopped after it's started.
Solution found by searching the web:
iTunes menu > Preferences > Devices > Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically.

  • Why does Mountain Lion triggers front fan in Mac Pro?

Hi all, this is my first visit to this community and I hope there won't be much more .
I bought a new SSD drive for my Mac Pro (early 2008). I had to install it from my Macbook Pro because Leopard in the Mac Pro wouldn't allow me to.
Neither I could perform a bootable USB clean install since the Mac Pro didn't show the device in the drive selection splash screen.
Then I put the SSD back into the Mac Pro and eureka, everything worked just fine. After about 30 seconds with the desktop in front of me, the front fan of the Mac triggered like if it was a constant reboot. However, the system worked just fine with no trouble but the annoying noise of the fan.
It's an OS related problem because this doesn't happen in Leopard. Any idea what went wrong?

Faulty installation.  Why could you not install the SSD in the Mac Pro running Leopard? Why are you running Leopard in the Mac Pro instead of upgrading it to Mountain Lion? Try doing it this way. Put the SSD into the Mac Pro.
    Erase and Install
    1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your SSD (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. After formatting finishes quit DU and return to the installer. Install Leopard onto the SSD.
Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.

  • Mac Pro FireWire does not switch off even when Mac Pro is switched off

    Hi,
got my new Mac Pro with 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon last week!
Found out today, that the firewire connection both on the frontside as well on the backside
keeps beeing powered even if the Mac Pro is switched off!
Is this a new features as my old Mac Pro (2x2.0 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon) did not have this feature?
If yes, why is this so? For what is it good for?
Thanks for your comments? If you have the same new Mac Pro maybe you can check out and let me know if this feature is also on your Mac Pro seen.
    Thommy

    Hi,
called to the apple hotline and got informed that the so called "residual current" is normal at the MAC Pro. Sometimes the USB Ports sometimes the FireWire Ports keep been powered continously even the machine is switched off.
Apple told me further that I can use a connection plug board with a central switch to solve my issue.
I will close now the subject! Thanks veryone for all your help here!
