Two master machine after reconnection

We are using the Berkeley DB 5.1.19 with the standard replication manager.
We test the given sample "excxx_repquote" in a two machine configuration ( one master and one slave)
with the following configuration
- ACK quoroum
- nsite=1
- priority =100
- bulk=1
-verbose on
We try to disconnect the cable between the two machines, and check the machine state(MASTER/CLIENT) according to BDB Events.
We notice that after disconnect the two machines became MASTER as expected but after reconnection the cable again
sometimes they stay as MASTER without running into election process, and sometimes it work as expected (one became CLIENT)
If we update the table on one of the machine it's automatically enter into election and finish well(one MASTER one CLIENT)
Since our solution the database is not updated frequently, we want to know if there is another way to ensure to get to the correct state
without develop a ReplicationMager based on the BDB BaseAPI .
Here a sample of session when both machine stay master:

Thanks in advance
if any idea can be propose

Some internal discussion about this reminded me about a much lower-overhead alternative to forcing a checkpoint. We have a rep_flush() API that simply rebroadcasts the last log record. This call will not increase the LSN or cause I/O. The rep_flush call is not documented but it is accessible to API users and its specification is:
int
DB_ENV->rep_flush(DB_ENV *env);
The only other suggestion we have is to add a third electable site to your replication group. This would insulate you from the single point of failure problems you are having with your two-site replication group.
A two-site replication group is a special case for our replication implementation. If you have a single point of failure (one of the sites) you do not have a functioning replication group because you only have one site left. As you have seen, if the remaining site is not ready for replication (e.g. still in client sync) or goes down, you lose the replication group and possibly some data.
If you add a third electable site to your replication group, then when one site is unavailable you still have a functioning replication group that can hold elections and maintain more than one copy of the replicated data.
If you are absolutely confined to two sites, these are your alternatives:
1. Use 2SITE_STRICT and reduce your replication group availability to guarantee no loss of data.
2. Do not use 2SITE_STRICT and risk the loss of some data when a site rejoins the replication group.
3. If you do not use 2SITE_STRICT and you want detection of DUPMASTER (split-brain) without application activity, you will have to provide your own workaround in the form of a periodic additional replication call. Hopefully, the rep_flush() call I mentioned above will be lower overhead for you.

Use the Office for Mac and ignore using Parallels for that. If you have PC only apps you have to run that are MS Windows only then consider Parallels. Just transfer your main PC, using Migration Assistant.  If you don't know how then simply read over Pondini's article called Lion or Mountain Lion Setup Assistant tips and look for the section on migrating from a PC. Millions have done what you are about to, it's far from leading edge these days, if you go to an Apple Store to purchase they will offer this as a service, something you might be interested in.

The 1.5TB is Unformatted, so one would assume that it is already damaged, empty, erased or unusable because of the windows Format.
If it was formatted by a windows computer, then your you will need to check it on that windows computer to see if the data is still there? If so then you will need to move the data to another drive, format the drive for cross platform use and copy the data back to it.

Select the Partition tab > select 1 or more Partitions > select Options > set the Partition Map Scheme to GUID Partition Table (if your going to use it exclusive for backing up your Mac) or Master Boot Record (if your going to use it cross platform) > click OK > then Format it Mac OS Extended (for Mac) or FAT-32 (for cross platform) > hit the Apply button.

  • Where can i find edited adobe photoshop files in time machine after update?

i was having issues with my computer, brought it in to apple store. they suggested i back everything up on external using time machine before doing a erase/re-write. i did so. HOWEVER, my edited photos in photoshop & bridge are gone. after the re-write, i updated from CS3 to CS5.5. all of my metadata is gone from the pictures, my keywords and all of the edited photos.
i don't know if it is related and it's not really my question, but i cannot access any of my itunes music now as it says that it cannot find original files. super frustrating as no one seems to know how to help with this. these two issues arose after my time machine backup that the apple genius told me would certainly back up all of my files. it seems i did something wrong prior to the backup or prior to the software updates that i did after the rewrite. any suggestions that could point me in the right direction are appreciated.

That path is still correct - at least it is on my system - but unless you had Library brought out into a place where it could be found, in the Sidebar for instance, I don't know how you'd get into it in Time Machine. Try this, though: access the user's Library folder via the Go To Folder command, then drag the Library folder into the sidebar. Then run Time Machine and see if the Library folder persists in the TM interface. If it does, you should then be able to navigate into Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/ and find and restore the backup folder.
    Hope this helps.

  • Problems PXE booting Gen 2 Virtual Machines after Upgrading to Windows Server 2012 R2

    My Current Setup:
I have two virtual machines set up with Hyper V on my Windows Server 2012 Server.
VM1: Configured to boot from an ISO file and runs Clonezilla server.
VM2: Configured to PXE boot using a legacy network adapter, and with a passthrough 250Gb hard disk.
These two VMs are connected to an external Virtual Switch, which allows physical machines to PXE boot to the Clonezilla server.
For the past few months I have been using this setup for two purposes:
    1. To clone physical machines to the Clonezilla virtual server (as a backup).
    2. To restore those image to the second VM if I find that need to get access to the files on the original image..
This has worked perfectly, except for the fact that the speed of the legacy network adapter on the second VM (which is required to PXE boot) is very slow. But I know this is because of the limitations in how the legacy adapter works...
    Now my problem:
I found out that Gen 2 VMs allow you to PXE boot without having use a legacy network adapter, allowing me to image back to the VM faster. So I upgraded the Server to Server 2012 R2 . I then created the same two virtual machines on the R2 server. I can still
PXE boot the Gen 1 VM to the Clonezilla Server but I cannot get the Gen 2 VMs to PXE boot properly. They get an IP address from the Clonezilla Server but then just stop with the following screen. (note: I have disabled the Secure Boot).
Are Gen 2 VMs unable to pull down images from anything other than a WDS Server?

    Hey robr72339266,
With a single user license, you can install Acrobat on maximum two computers, say, your laptop at work and desktop at office.
But, you cannot use Acrobat on both the machines simultaneously.
You will first need to deactivate Acrobat from the old machine, then install and activate the software on the new OS with the same serial key.
Please Contact | Adobe to seek help on the same.

  • How can I implement two TCP/IP servers (on two separate machines) and one TCP/IP client (on third machine)

I have an application where I need to send data via TCP/IP from two separate machines to a third machine. The machines are on a local area network connected through a network switch. The data are generated independently through data acquisition by the two independent machines before are sent to the client on third machine. Each machine has one network card. Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If you have three separate machines, you don't need to use separate ports.  They will have three IP addresses.
Remember this rule: TCP connections are EXACTLY like telephone connections.
Have your client open two connections: same port on two different IP addresses.
    Each client listens for connections.
After connections are established, you get to decide the protocol:  maybe the client should explicitly ask for data, maybe the servers just dump it without being asked. It's up to you.

  • The connection between two Tuxedo machines

We want to locate our servers(services) onto different machines, we want to know
:whether the connection, between two machines, is built up at the first time the
servers booted and kept persistently connectted, or just build up the connection
    when there comes a request.

Remote machines connect to one another lazily. If you have machines A
(master), B and C, then B and C do not connect until a request is made
between B and C. All machines connect to the master at boot time.

The machines communicate using BRIDGE.The DBBL which runs
on the primary master machines keep doing sanity checks
and health of BBL at all the machines connected and if
any BBL does not respond for the specified time(set by
DBBLWAIT) in RESOURCES section.then that machine gets partitioned by DBBL.
for more info you can read tuxedo documentation.

  • Two Trojans found after TimeMachine backup?

HelloSeveral weeks ago I and after a weekly manual backup I discovered that I had two Trojans and after several attempts two get rind of then they keep popping up every time I do a TM backup. When I click unlock to delete the Trojans they both disappear until next time I do a TM back.Has anyone else found these on their computers and if so how did you get them off for good?Cheers Colin Please see attached for the little nastiest.

    Hey MiltonX
Sorry you're having trouble with this. It sounds like the threat is probably being backed up somewhere in the time machine.
First thing to do is take a look at the path where the threats are located. You can usually find this in the quarantine manager after  you authenticate as administrator. If you don't see it listed in the scan results, you can either click "reveal in finder" from the quarantine manager, or if you can't find the full path that way, pull up the scan log by clicking the small gear icon in the "scans" menu and selecting "View scan log."
Once you've found the full path to the threat, take a look at this article. I'm guessing the path will be located somewhere in /Backups.backupdb/. If that's the case, you can skip to step 18 and follow the instructions under the Time Machine Archive heading. That will walk you through removing the backedup threat and hopefully prevent it from coming back anymore.
Hope that makes sense, but if you have any questions, let me know!

  • How to boot only one group in remote machine from master machine

    Hi,
I want to know the command to boot entire remote machine from master machine and how to boot only one group for remote machine from master machine.
    Thanks

You can boot the entire remote machine (after booting the Master machine) as follows:
    tmboot -B <lmid of remote machine> -l <lmid of remote machine>.
For all the available tmboot options see http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E18050_01/tuxedo/docs11gr1/rfcm/rfcmd.html#wp1032112

Generally when creating a Word file from either a Mac or Win7 pc and opening it on two different machines (either one first) it always prompts that the file is open and will be opened as read only.
However opening a CSS file does not prompt that it is already open on or from any machine which is causing code edits to be lost.
What we found from out testing:
    - The file can be saved from one user to the server and WILL NOT PROMPT on other machines until the saving machine has the Dreamweaver program closed completely
    - The file can be closed and  Dreamweaver minimised to the launch bar but it still will not register on other machines that it has been changed.
    - Also, until the  Dreamweaver program is closed on the machines, it will continue to open it's saved version of the file.
    Example Scenario:
    - User 1 opens test.css (which is 2000 lines) and adds some code to the end of the file to bring it up to 2500 lines
    - Meanwhile User 2 opens test.css as well (opens as 2000 lines as User 1’s edits have not yet been saved) and adds in code to bring it to 2300 lines
    - User 1 saves his file and closes it - but  Dreamweaver is still open.
    - User 2 also saves his file and leaves  Dreamweaver  open.
    - The server will report the size and last edit of the file the same as User 2 as he was the last person to save it (and if you open from the Win7 Machine it will show as User 2’s 2300 line version)
    - If User 1 then open's the file again (from either the 'recent' in Dreamweaver OR clicking on the file directly in Finder...which version opens.... The version that User 1 saved! Not the true version on the server, but the version that User 1 edited and saved with 2500 lines in it.
    - Same for User 2, he will open 'his' version with 2300 lines in.
    Other information:
    - Files are opened directly from the server
    - Sometimes the users will save incrementally and re-open
    - Most of the time users will save incrementally and keep the files open
    - The users will never not save incrementally and just save when closing the file once finished
    - The users are usually working on the files all day
    - It is always the bottom lines of code that are lost. It could be a case of the two versions being mixed up and cutting off the newly added lines based on the line count (possibly).
It is as if Dreamweaver is holding a cache of the version locally and then only properly looking back to the server when it has been completely closed. It is very difficult to see how the server is causing such an impact on these files, there are very few logs which are giving any indication to the root cause of the problems.
Anyone know if this is a known issue?
Is there a way that there can be a featured implemented on the server that doesn't allow another user to open a file if it is already open on another machine?
    Thanks

Your server file handling has nothing, and really nothing to do with Adobe software. If files don't get locked for (over-)writing and/or lose connection to the program opening them, then your server is misconfigured. It's as plain and simple and that. Anything from "known file types"/ file associations not being set correctly, MIME types being botched, crooked user privileges and file permissions, missing Mac server extensions, delayed file writing on the server, generic network timeout issues and what have you. Either way, you have written a longwinded post with no real value since you haven't bothered to provide any proper technical info, most notably about the alleged server. Either way, the only way you can "fix" it is by straightening out your server and network configuration, not some magic switch in Adobe's software.

  • Office 2013 - SharePoint Web App: How can I link a subform on two Master/Child controls?

I have a form in which I have placed a subform in a SharePoint Web App.
I also have 2 controls on the form, from which I'd like to link to two columns on the subform.  How can I have two Master/Child linking relationships to a subform.
In Access desktop, it is done in a window "Subform Field Linker", like this:
    Master Fields:          Child Fields:
<sorry I could not include a link until my account is verified>
    Thanks,
    Keith

    Hi Bruce,
    >>Are subforms in web apps different in this regard?<<
Yes, there are two kinds of database. In an on-premise environment, Access 2013 apps are hosted by SharePoint 2013 while the data is stored in SQL Server 2012. SharePoint 2013 provides authentication, authorization, and security for Access 2013 apps.
The back-end tables, views, macros, and queries are stored in a SQL Server 2012 database.
You can get more detail about Access 2013 web app from link below:

  • IPod touch no longer playing on Sony dream machine after updating iOS

Can not get my daughters iPod touch 4th gen to play on Sony dream machine after updating the iOS to 6.1.3. Looking for suggestions on how to fix this?!

First go to Sony's support site. and see if there is a firmware update or other information for your dock.
    Sometimes this works:
    Reset the dock
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
Sometimes an iOS update breaks compatibility and y will hae to wait for an update to fix the problem

Firefox no longer connects to internet on my mac, and windows machines, after v18. I've tried several solutions from Mozilla support and nothing works. Firefox can't even connect to Mozilla for updates. Firefox just sits on the default search page and attempts to connect to websites by typing URLs, or by clicking on the links on the default search page don't work.

    You could try the following:
    * Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version)
    * Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs, then add it back. For detailed instructions, see Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet.
