Two small lights at bottom of display

I just got the 2.0ghz macbook alum. and after a day of using it I notice 2 sections of light "bleeding" from the bottom of the display. If I push the display back a little I can see two lights coming from the bezel at the bottom. They are about 2 inches apart and right in the middle of the bezel. Also located right between the left end of the display and the macbook logo.
Has anyone else seen this? Its dim but noticeable when viewing at an appropriate angle, but if i tilt it back just a bit, its just annoying.

Try restarting the computer, If that doesn’t help, try restarting the Dock.
Restarting the Dock
Applications > Utilities > Terminal
Launch Terminal.
Wait until the $ sign shows up.
Enter the command killall Dock
Press the enter key on the keyboard. Wait until the prompt shows up.
Quit Terminal.

All of a sudden, there is a small starburst of white showing on the bottom right of my screen. I have not dropped or any type of problem with my phone. I have no clue as to why this could happen. Any help here would be appreciated.

This might possibility hardware related. But would like to see you try some suggestions below just to see if it goes away.
1. Reboot iPhone
2. Shut iPhone off for about 20 min then turn it back on
If you find powering off the iPhone the starburst goes away. Wait 20 min then power it back on and see if the starburst is there.
Any chances your using a Magnetic case? with the iPhone. Or any chances you go through scanners or metal detectors daily at work? Just general questions seeing if maybe something on the outside may of all the sudden caused image quality starbursts.
I see you live in Lodi. So I doubt it was cold weather :P
But I do agree with the last poster. I would take it into an Apple Retail Store with appointment and get a tech to take a look at it.
I know we got one in Arden not sure what others are close to Lodi.

One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

I suddenly have two flashing lights on my keyboard by the caps lock key and over the end/pg up key.

I encountered a problem waking my laptop (Pavilion dv7-1270us) this morning. At first it would not wake up and had to do a hard reboot. Now I have two flashing lights on the keyboard -the caps lock light and the one over the end/pg up keys over the number pad. I have run several diagnostics and cannot find an answer as to what this is.

I have two small charges on my credit card from the itunes store. I tried to call for answers as to what they were for. A recording told me to go to this website and i still can not find the items charged anywhere.

Look at you purchase history.
Open itunes, click on your name in the top right corner and go to your account and look.
BTW, there is no telephone support for itunes at all.

How do I backup a large music library to two smaller drives?

Does anyone know if it is possible to split a library in half, when backing up? I have an external 1000 gig lacie drive that is the home of my itunes media folder location. I also have two smaller lacie drives that put together could have enough space to cover the amount of music that is on the large lacie.
The total size of the library is now 397 gigs, and since I've been reimporting many favorite albums in the full aiff form, the library is growing. But since the library is too big now for any one backup drive I'm getting nervous. The smaller drives are 250 and 175 gig drives, and up until now have been the place where I would double backup to, when the library was much smaller,[ only aac files ].
So how do I send part of the library to one drive and the rest to another???

Thanks J.G. ... I checked out all these fixes, and none address my issue. I am not looking to change the location of the library to be able to play specific genres, or different kinds of files [movies] on different drives. I am happy that all my files are stored and played from one place.
I am only [ and, perhaps it is a too big only..] looking for a way to portion out the library [ one portion that would fill the smaller drive and the other portion that would correspond with the size of the other external drive] to utilize the drives that I already own, as a place of backup. I know that the easiest way to fix the problem would be to buy another large drive similar in size to the main one I am now using to store my music.
Even perhaps one that has double the size and, an automatic mirroring function, like the western digital two terrabite model.
But, failing that option, I am still looking for a cheaper work around!

How can I divide a large catalogue into two smaller ones on the same computer? Can I just create a new catalogue and move files and folders from the old one to the new one? I am using PSE 12 in Windows 7.

A quick update....
I copied the folder in ~Library/Mail/V2/Mailboxes that contains all of my local mailboxes over to the same location in the new account. When I go into mail, the entire file structure is there, however it does not let me view (or search) any of the messages. The messages can be accessed through the Finder, though.
I tried to "Rebuild" the local mailboxes, but it didn't seem to do anything. Any advice would be appreciated.

Black strip at bottom of display (retina)

Hi all,
Just out of curiosity, does anyone else have some "give" in the black plastic strip at the bottom the display on their Macbook Pro Retina? I only notice because as I took it out of the box (obviously whilst the MacBook was closed), I could feel it move a tiny bit. If it isnt supposed to be like that, is it just a case of Apple securing it? I dont really want to go through the hassle of having a new display or god forbid, new unit entirely.

Yellowish tint at the bottom of display

My iMac i7 is 2 weeks old and I've noticed the difference in color temperature of the top and bottom of display. The bottom is warmer, the top shows colder colors. Example: http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/3477/imacam.jpg
Apples support told me it's normal, but it doesn't look normal for me...

When iMac 7 came out, a problem that this model had was yellow coloration of the monitor. How wide spread, I don't know but enough for me not to buy it and wait which I'm still doing. There were many, many posts to that effect that are no longer here. It definitely has been a problem and it is not new with you although the yellow monitor front has been quiet for a long time and I assumed it was no longer a problem. The problem has to do with the manufacturing of the screen I think and with one manufacturer but if you are not satisfied make an appointment at an Apple store and bring it in--depending on how yellow, it may not be normal. It's up to you, any indication of yellowing may not be good enough or it's not noticeable under normal operation. There were a few folks who were quite active about this and if they have read your post, I hope they will respond because there was quite a bit of important information posted. My suggestion is to return and get your money back if Apple insists it is normal. Early customers of i7 who had the problem returned them many times and Apple seemed to be very obliging about exchanging at that time. As I said, this situation has not been reported for quite a while and I assumed everything was OK and it still may be. Also, I'm not sure but it may be too late to return the computer for your money but insist politely and tell Apple there have been many posts reported here regarding the yellow screen.
But and most important, you paid good money for the computer, don't be intimidated by self-proclaimed guardians of the flame who beef up their post numbers with prattle. As I like to say, if I'm paying Rolls Royce prices for something, I want Rolls Royce quality.

Two Questions one Sidebar (finder) one Display

Under Places in the Sidebar I deleted the Music Reference with the blue iTunes note icon, anyone know how to get it back? I can add my iTunes folder but then it uses just a blue folder icon.
The second is when i quite most applications but not all the desktop display splits into two images each taking half the display then back to normal. Have changed desktop image with same result. I've also seen some other threads however those seem to be related to multiple displays.

Go to finder, click Go>Home, and drag the folder called "Music" (without the quotes) into your sidebar, under "Places" (without the quotes).
The above comment is the correct fix. While there isn't a preference for the "Music" folder in the sidebar, it is easy to add back. Just drag the folder called Music from your home directory into the sidebar and your music folder (with the music note for an icon) is back again.

Two small drive or one large drive

Hi All, this is closely related to the previous question but there were some subtleties I wanted to bring up. i was wondering if i could get your take on whether I should get one large drive or two smaller ones. I'm looking to use the external drive as my startup volume. is it true that using a larger drive can actually lower the performance of your computer? I the G3 500 only has one firewire 400 port but it's about time for me to upgrade anyway. the iomega triple interface (black) drives get pretty good reviews so I'm either gonna go for two 250 GB or one 400GB. for safety reasons, i thought that two drives would be better but it turns out that the 400GB has a 8mb cache while the 250GB has only 2mb of cache. is this going to make much difference to the performance of my computer?

• A FireWire drive as a startup disk on a FW 400 port is going to perform slower than your internal hard drive, regardless of the size of the drive. However, you may not notice that much of a difference, other than a slower boot. Cache size will make a bit of difference, but so will rotational speed. You want fast drives (7200 RPM+) and lots of cache (8 MB is nice) for best performance.
• One can find 250 GB FireWire drives with 8 MB cache. I buy all my FireWire drives from Other World Computing (OWC). I've been very happy with the drives and their service. I'd recommend them over Iomega any day of the week.
• One drive vs. two: One drive = all your eggs in one basket. Two FireWire drives gives you the option of having redundant backups on each. Something to consider.

WHat version if iPhoto? Where is your iPhoto library located?

BAckup your iPhoto library, depress and hold the option and command keys while launching iPhoto until the first aid window comes up and repair permissions and if necessary rebuild your database

Two small issues switching from Leopard to Snow Leopard

Hi,
I just recently switched to Snow Leopard from Leopard. I was considering Lion, but heard some bad things about it.
Either way, I noticed two small issues. The first was a hot key set on my Logitech mouse. I had a button preset to all windows expose. In the software
for the mouse driver you can set it to expose specifically. (Its not just setting it to a certain F key). For some reason this doesn't work anymore.
The other problem is when I link my mac book pro to an external monitor thru an hdmi cable, I notice on the tv screen it reverts back to the default
desktop background. Instead of having the picture I set, it shows up on the big screen the blue and purple space image.
Any suggestions?

The Logitech mouse driver said there were no updates available so I figured the expose had something to do
with the new OS system since it now said expose and spaces, which Leopard never had spaces.
So what I did was figured out how to just set it up with the F keystroke and it worked!
When I link my Mac Book Pro to my tv, I use an external keyboard which is more up to date with the quick f keys up top and the arrangement is set up differently [ such as the volume keys are now f 10 and 11 instead of f 3 and 4 or something like that] Hopefully when my mbp is linked to this the keystroke I have set for expose still works. I believe it will.
And as for the desktop bg, after unplugging my tv I notcied it still stayed on the space theme. So I believe I know what may be the issue. I set that bg off of a picture on an external hd, and never saved the image on my computer hd. So I'm assuming it saved the desktop picture in some cache thing or something and once it got linked to an external monitor it got refreshed.
I now how that image on my computer and set, so hopefully the next time I link my computer to the tv, it'll stay.
