Typical Lead Scenario_URGENT!!!!

Hi to all.
I have a scenario wrt "Lead"
     I am running a email Campaign which asks for Customers interest towards a Product.
   Now who ever shows Clicks on Yes Button in the email , they need to be collected separately(for which there is a standard Workflow).
         With this Target Group i need to create Lead!!!
Option
      1)  I can i make use of Badi "CRM_MKTCA_SVY_PAI " and automatically create Lead ?
                   If can create a lead by this where do i get these created leads in the CRM ? Can i get all these leads in to "Lead Generator " INBOX" ? from where he can manually assign them to Sales Rep?
2) If at all the campaign gives me a out put which is a Target group. How do i create Leads using the Target Group ? is there any FM for this?
3) How can a lead manager Manually assaign leads to Sales Rep based on Prospect or based up on priority ?
  Kindly provide me the inputs as its Urgent!!!!!!!
Regards,
Sanj

Hi.
You can find some information about Lead Managment in building block: C37: CRM Lead Management  ( http://help.sap.com/bp_crmv250/CRM_DE/index.htm). You can create leads for target group that you send to channel if you first create channel for leads. Hope you will find some useful information there

  • SaveAsCSV() truncating leading zeros

    Hi
    We have used applet call saveAsCSV() and are experiencing the typical "leading zero" truncation since the value is being treated as numberic.
    I would like to know if there is any way of specifying certain fields as text other than inserting a character to force it to be a text field
    Thanks
    Deepa

    Hi Deepa
    This is actually a Microsoft Excel issue.  You cannot save a leading 0 in an csv file.
    I have tried doing this external to xMII and got to the conclusion that the file type CSV does not allow for leading zero's (I think this is the case with special characters in CSV files as well).
    Your best bet is to call a function to add leading zero's (something like a padding/stretch function) once you open the saved file.

  • Workstation specs -- Any problems with this system quote?

    Here are the specs I have been quoted.  I'm not terribly knowledgeable about hardware, does anyone see any problems with this system?  I have recently started shooting and editing weddings, engagements and corporate videos.  I think it may be bit more than I need, but I would much prefer that to less than I need.  Any input from the more tech savvy users would be much appreciated.

  • Why are most websites only displaying code like text?

    Almost all of the web sites that I frequent have began displaying code like text on a blank white background. Some sites still have hyperlinks and images here and there with random text, but others are fully blank with what appears to be the code of the website showing. I wasn't able to access this web site until I tried multiple times and it magically worked, but others are still not working. The only sites that I have tested that have worked from the start are Google related sites (Gmail, Google, Youtube). My yahoo email is inaccessible, which is an important email for me and all other sites that i frequent are inaccessible. One major thing to note is that the sites are also inaccessible on Internet Explorer. This would typically lead you to believe that the problem lies with your connection in some way. I have reset my router/modem and it had no effect. I also have ran CCleaner and have deleted temp files, cookies, and caches. I have tried running Mozilla in safe mode with add-ons disabled as well. My malware protection and antivirus protection find no issues after completing full scans. One last thing to note is that, on both Firefox and IE, certain sites allow to me to access the homepage, such as yahoo, but once I attempt to check my mail the random display of code appears. On IE it simply says that the site cannot be displayed once I click to check my mail. Gmail works perfect on the other hand. The only things that I have done during this time are:
    Setup a LogMeIn account (Hamachi) and connected my PC to their service
    Downloaded and began using Malewarebytes software to remove malware that I had picked up
    Other than those two things it has been the same usual actions on my PC. Could the malware that I had still be effecting me somehow even though it was found/deleted? Is my router to blame even though resetting it does not help? After all the things I have tried, what could it be?

    What is the content type of those pages if you check that via Tools > Page Info > General?
    Is that text/html as it should be or text/plain as your screenshot would suggest?
    You can also check the Net log via the Web Console (Web Developer > Web Console;Ctrl+Shift+K)

    Hi Larry,
    I didn't think that was a default setting for a spreadsheet built within a table, but apparently it is.
    I'm guessing your experience is similar to mine when I first tried out Numbers after years with Excel. I just didn't get it. It was only after I realized the advantages of working with discrete tables (as opposed to Excel's one big sheet) that things got easier, much easier.
    it looks like with so many people complaining they're starting to add features back in.
    None of us are privy to what is going on within Apple, of course, but just a general knowledge of the complexities of software engineering and the typical lead times suggests that the major features added back in had to have been planned quite some time ago. It seems more are likely in the works.
    Unfortunately, if you have to work with folks who use Office (on Windows) it's still not a great option.
    This depends on what your work involves. I've had few problems in a Window-centric office. In general, if you have to do a lot of printing of precisely formatted documents, Numbers 3 in its current form is not a great choice.
    But if you're interested in collaborating, the iCloud sharing has gotten pretty decent (in some ways better than the MS offering). Anyone on any OS with a modern browser can take advantage of that.
    And if you want to do data entry in the field on a popular mobile device and have it sync automatically back to a computer, Numbers currently has a big leg up on the competition.

  • Edit All Cells In All Tables

    Hello,
    This is my first post, but I have been working with InDesign scripting for a while, and am pretty fluent in Javascript.
    My scenario is, I have a document with about 1,000 pages. On each page is a table with approximately 100 cells, 10 rows and 10 columns with a description at the 0-space of each, followed by a floating point number (in the form of a percentage) in every other cell. What I need to do is format the text color of each percentage in each row depending on its value. For instance, in the first row, every percentage under 80.00% is red, while everything else needs to be green. All I need to do is color them based on their value. However, this value changes throughout the course of the 10 different rows.
    I was able to make a script that would allow me to go over each cell in row 1 of every table on a single page, then iterate over all the other remaining pages in the same way before continuning onto row 2. This is a VERY long process, typically leading to a crash in any document over ~30 pages in length. Given that I want to run this over a gigantic 1,000+ page document (granted there is only 1 table per page), it becomes slightly impractical...
    I'm simply curious if there is a way to run this in a more realistic manner. There has to be a quick way to iterate over each row, simply check the values, mark green or red and be done with it. My idea was to, perhaps, do every row in the table on one page and then go onto the next page, as opposed to row 1 over the entire document, followed by row 2, and so on and so forth? Perhaps that would help?
    The code is FARRR too long to post here, but the rough process I have right now is the following:
    1.) Setup variables to define the cells in each row:
         var allTables = app.activeDocument.stories.everyItem().tables.everyItem();
         var firstRowCells = allTables.rows[1].cells.everyItem().getElements();
             (There has to be a way to optimize that???)
    2.) Call a bunch of for statements for the amount of rows I need to process (10) per table:
             for(var i = 0; i < firstRowCells.length; ++i)
                   var a = parseFloat(firstRowCells[i].contents);
                   if(a <= 80.00)
                         firstRowCells[i].texts[0].appliedCharacterStyle = "FAIL Red";
                   } else if(a > 80.00){
                         firstRowCells[i].texts[0].appliedCharacterStyle = "PASS Green";
    ...all of this (about 10 for statements) results in a pretty rough crash. Anybody have a solution? Or at least an optimization tip?
    Thanks,
    -Chris

    The goal is to make it as automated as possible, as these 1,000 page documents will be occurring about twice a week (as far as I know).
    Here is what I'm looking at now with six rows programmed for a demo of my situation (figured I'd include a dummy first row for example):
    The grep style hasn't changed, except varies from line to line to meet the goal criteria, but here is the code for the six rows. Again, all I need it to do is make the same code work in the same way on all tables in the document and we're golden. This seems like the right approach, though, as it is much faster than the parseFloat() call method. (Sorry about the hard to read code...for some reason it doesn't paste well into these forums??)
    var cStyles = app.activeDocument.characterStyles;
                                  if((cStyles.item("FAIL Red") != null) && (cStyles.item("PASS Green") != null))
                                            for(var i = 2; i < 6; ++i)
                                                      firstRowCells[i].appliedCellStyle = "80";

    Yzme,
    You have already got answers how to catch this exception.
    Next processing depends on application-specific nature of RFC: whether or not call is idempotent, in simple words -- submitting same request doesn't hurt.
    This comes from the fact that network failure may occurs when transferring request (hence no background processing performed) or when returning response (hence function already executed).
    For idempotent calls there is also an option for automatic re-tries finite number of times. For non-idempotent calls the only option is to display error to user in friendly format.
    An idempotent call is a call that can be executed more than once on the server without undesirable side effects. Take for example Create / Read / Update / Delete operations. Obviously, read is idempotent while it doesn't alter data at all. You may treat Delete as idempotent up to certain extent -- just handle "record not exists" gracefully. Create and Update are not good candidates -- re-submitting same request typically leads to serious problems like duplicate entries or data inconsistency.

  • Product bug: unknown unicast traffic storms from thunderbolt displays

    Hi All -
    Periodically, a random Thunderbolt display will launch a wire rate unknown unicast traffic storm into our LAN and only stop when unplugged from the network. This typically leads to unicast flooding or at least massive trunk congestion (we now use Cisco's storm-control and block (unknown) unicast).
    In any given event the transmitted frames are all the same and appear to be random data from memory. They make no sense as traffic: they have garbage MAC addresses and hence the "unknown unicast traffic storm".
    We have very roughly 100 and about 1% malfunction this way once a week. We don't think it's the MBP behind the display because we switched to Thunderbolt ethernet adapters (directly on the MPBs) and have not seen an incident for over 7 weeks.
    Here is a LogicMonitor record; the trailing edge of the event was when we unplugged the display.
    Here's what a packet capture looks like from the outage:
    Here is trace data from a different event.
    The destination MAC address is an ASCII string that spells out "vertcp". Although Wireshark identifies the frame type as LLC in the first example, we believe this to be a coincidence; it's a random 436-byte piece of firmware memory. A safe conclusion is that both the LLC tag and the completely invalid ethertype in the first event is just random. Nothing in the captured frames makes sense because they aren't ethernet frames, they are random data passed to the driver due to a bug.
    Thanks
    Branden

    We have experienced the same issue with increasing frequency as more Thunderbolt displays are introduced into our environment in the last year.  On a gigabit port, the display has no problem generating 800mbit/s or more of traffic (~500kpps) - which is then flooded to every port in the same VLAN (~400 user ports in our case).  For 100mbit/s users, this essentially floods them off the network.
    Here is a detail I don't see mentioned above -- this happens even when a laptop/computer is not connected to the display.  The first case we had of this happening was with a display that had no thunderbolt parent device attached.  Shutting down the switchport and no-shutting it (bouncing the link on the display) resolves this until the next time it happens.
    It looks like whatever crap resides in various buffers is used to construct the resulting Ethernet frames.  I did not perform a packet capture this time, but the last time it happened the entire Ethernet header was null bytes with the body being mostly-null but the same random-looking noise in the rest of the frame.  The frame was interpreted by Wireshark and others as a type of Fiber Channel, but I think that was just the default case that matched many of the null characteristics.  The exact same frame was reflected in each packet sent (as opposed to each frame being different/randomized from the predecessor)

  • Xml schema egistration

    i am new to xml . i using oracle 11g.while reading xml i came to know that xml schema registration.
    is it compulsary to work with xml data.what is the advantages of xml schema registration. with out registration also i am able to create xmltype tables and i am able to fetch data from tables. then what is the purpose of schema registration
    schema registration means what happening exactly.

    Schema Registration typically leads to better performance. With Binary XML / XML Index the differences are not critical for most applications. It also allows for better datatyping and compression, since if we tags and datatypes in advance we do do a more efficient encoding. For certain classes of applicaiton, where the object relational storage model is appropraite schema registration can lead to significantly better performance. See the XML DB basic demo for more info and the Hands on Lab for info related to Binary XML and XML Index

  • SQL Azure federation retired

    Hello Azure team,
    I’m working for Azure team for my customer. Just few days back I could saw the forum discussions.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/hh597452.aspx
    Please confirm me that Web/Business editions SQL database where I have implemented federation is not going to be retired from Windows Azure.
    Kindly reply.

    Hi Saravanabharathi,
    The information on the forum is correct: We will be retiring Federations together with the Web and Business Editions. From working with customers, we have seen that custom sharding solutions typically lead to better results regarding scalability, flexibility,
    and performance as compared to Federations. You can find more information about Federations and custom sharding here:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn495641.aspx.
    Having said this, there is work underway to create more usable methods for routing requests to different databases in Azure.  There was good guidance published last year by the CAT team around self-sharding patterns at
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/17987.cloud-service-fundamentals.aspx , and more material like this will be coming shortly.
    Meanwhile I am curious to understand more of your application scenario, and what might be a substitute for Federations given your current design. I am part of the Azure DB product team and you can reach me at torsteng(at)microsoft.com

  • Methodology to find the right enitybean

    Hi,
    There are many discussions of the benefit of using enity bean(CMP and BMP), can someone provide some clues/links about the methodology of identify entity beans give an existing database?
    1. make each table an entity bean, certainly not
    2. make an entity bean a group of join of tables, isn't that use cases driven? what if use cases change, the entity beans also have to be changed accordingly?
    Thanks much

    Greetings,
    Only as a consequence if poor understanding ofEntity
    Beans, their nature and purpose! Er, and, ofcourse,
    poor application design... which, in turn, maydepend
    on poor understanding of the businessrequirements...
    which, hopefully, have been sufficiently
    documented...Hmmm...you are saying that most J2EE applications,
    particularily new ones do not end up doing exactly
    that?No, nor can I say that - being able to speak
    only out of my own experience...
    In my experience, and from reading here, most solutions end up doing that (keep in mind that most mappings are in a single solution are 1 to 1 not all.)
    I am not saying that that is necessarily correct for all of those solutions. But I am far from certain that many of them should have been using any entity beans at all.
    What I was saying, however, is that a commonly held
    misunderstanding of Entity Beans result too often in
    their use as little more than elaborate "data
    accessors" - Sun and the JCP did not need to reinvent
    the wheel for data integration purposes! Even a
    casual reading of the specification reveals their real
    purpose to be to provide an object-oriented view of
    enterprise data regardless of where that data
    is stored! The specification is further careful to
    qualify (on several occasions) a relational resource
    as only the "typical" storage mechanism against
    which to map Entity Bean<-->entity associations.
    Object databases, legacy systems, and "applications"
    are pointed to as additionally valid resource targets
    for Entity Beans. Therefore, the practice of
    "mapping one bean to one table" is merely one
    technique for implementing Entity Beans in
    "typical use" scenarios.Yes, but most scenarios are exactly that which is why I say "most".
    I would still like to try something where a single entity maps to a complex external system. Perhaps using a screen scrape interface (not because I like screen scraping but rather because the interface seems so extreme.)
    >
    This is also, indeed, even a poorly conceived
    technique since one "enterprise data" - a.k.a.
    "entities" are often composed of a hierarchy of
    abstracts - a "Customer" derives from a "Person" which
    has an "Address" and "Contact Numbers" comprised of
    "Cities", "States", "Countries", "Post Codes", "Area
    Codes", etc... - all of which, in a relational model,
    may be broken into multiple "tables" against which all
    could have an Entity Bean mapping. Does that
    mean, however, that all are appropriate for container
    persistent existence?? In this scenario, the
    application may indeed benefit from "Cities", "States"
    and the like being accessible as shared, persistent,
    objects, but does it, for example, really need
    to make all "Contact Numbers" available the same way?
    Ultimately, it, again, is dependent on the needs of
    the application. The point is, however, blindly
    "mapping 1 bean to one table" can, and usually does,
    lead to quick bottleneck of resource and serious
    degradation of performance - leaving the platform to
    blame for the misunderstanding, or outright
    ignorance, of that platform by the developer.
    That is probably true. But I wonder how many applications end up with those sorts of hierarchies. From these forums certainly some do, but I have never worked on one.
    ...A closer review of the Entity Bean's lifecycle and
    it should become clear-er that providing "an
    object-oriented view of enterprise data" does NOT
    necessarily translate into doing the same for ALL of
    that data, nor is appropriate in all business
    processes. Entity Beans provide a shared and (in
    container) persistent object-oriented view of
    enterprise data. The key words here are shared
    and object-oriented. The first implies
    multi-client or, at least, frequent single client,
    access. The last implies in-memory residence, for
    which the container must ensure proper loading of the
    entity from it's resource. Mapping an Entity Bean to
    the resource without considering the level of the
    data's sharedness or the benefit of having it
    in-memory resident often leads to a typical
    cluttering of the application server and a huge waste
    of resources. Further, doing so without considering
    whether the business process requires every entity of
    concern to be coincidentally loaded into an in-memory
    object representation of in order to complete also
    typically leads to a bottleneck at the resource
    and a needless degradation of it's performance!
    Yep.
    So, again, no, I'm not saying that "most J2EE
    applications ... do not end up [mapping 1 bean to
    every table]" - rather, in fact, I'm saying that most
    (especially "new ones", which likely start as a
    consequence of reading the "hype" and "cool-ness"
    surrounding J2EE, but not it's more boring technical
    details(!)), unfortunately do do that and
    inevitably end up undergoing "changes" thanks largely
    to unexpectedly negative and grossly misunderstood
    performance results...
    Ok. But I would guess that the OP hasn't done this before. And I suspect that many problems which have an entity solution applied to them aren't going to suffer too terribly due to this, simply because they probably didn't need any entities in the first place, and/or because the project is likely to suffer from poor requirements/design which would impact performance far more than any technology would.
    Multi-tier separation evolved as a development
    paradigm largely because of this. More oftenthan
    not, the application's user interface (i.e
    it's
    "views") change more frequently and rapidly - and
    a-ffectively - than either it's business logic or
    integrations. Business logic is usually next to
    change - along with the "business" - but when the
    change is large enough the existing applicationis
    scrapped anyway... what always remains, however,is
    the data. ;)In the non-trivial change orders I have worked onsome
    existing entity beans are always impacted. Not to
    mention the ripple effects that go along with thatand
    with the new functionality. I haven't seenanything
    You are referring to "requirements changes" which,
    like requirements generally, involve the "data of
    business" (which Entity Beans may, in turn, map); I
    was referring to "business changes" which the
    business logic models and the application
    encapsulates. When "business" changes enough (to
    which I personally have bore witness during my time at
    MCI, Sun, and SAIC), prior "business logic" is no
    longer valid and must be "re-evaluated". In these
    cases, however, "business data" remains continually
    relevant to the changing enterprise.
    No I wasn't, although I was imprecise. I am referring to existing solutions which have to be changed because the business changed.

  • MDD Dual867MHz - Intermittent "freezes" under Leopard

    Hello -
    I have a problem I'm hoping to solicit some input on...
    First - the setup:
    - A Dual 867MHz MDD; 1.25GB RAM; running Leopard 10.5.6 - no additional applications/software installed beyond stock OS.
    - 4 HDD - 1. 160GB ATA Primary drive (Western Digital); 2. 60GB ATA Secondary Drive (Seagate); 3. and 4. each is a 1TB SATA Western Digital - these drives are Mirrored together via Disk Utility and a connected to the system via a Sonnet Tempo 2 internal SATA port PCI card.
    The rough problem description:
    - The machine boots, sleeps, and runs fine... Except - I enable Remote Management and Personal File Share on the machine with the intention of having my other Macs access the HDDs of the MDD (for Time Machine, SuperDuper, general centralised storage of some media -- yes, I also have an alternate backup strategy of incremental backups for Mirrored 1TB to Amazon S3 if I can ever get the MDD itself stable).
    - The connecting machines (i.e. source Macs) may be any combination of a 2.33GHz 15.4" MBP with 4GB RAM install (I know - 3 usable); a 2.16GHz 13.3" White MacBook with 2GB RAM installed; a 1.5GHz 12" PowerBook G4 with 1.25GB RAM installed -- All running Leopard 10.5.6.
    - If I connect to screen and file sharing using the Admin account from one or more of the source Macs, perform various operations, disconnect, reconnect, etc, then after some completely variable amount of time, sharing connections start to fail, and the G4 slowly goes insane and freezes (no panics, just a slow degrade to the Ball of Death).
    - I then have to hard reset the MDD, which typically leads to a whack of permissions problems that I need to repair (stuck a blue screen on boot; stuck at grey Apple-logo-screen at boot are the most common).
    The MDD is presently not headless, though that is my ultimate goal. It has a 15" ADC LCD connected.
    I'm wondering if the community is aware of any instability with Leopard's Personal File Sharing and Remote Management together on G4s?
    I've tried the same configuration with Tiger (10.4.11), and don't see the same instability.
    Any thoughts from the gurus? Or am I destined for Tiger on the MDD and using the questionable "defaults write com.apple.systempreferences TMShowUnsupportedNetworkVolumes 1" to get Time Machine on the source Macs to recognise the Mirrored 1TB on the MDD?
    Many thanks in advance!

    reason: typos

    My machine has similar problems. I have an MDD same model. I actually have the intermittent freezes plus boot up takes anywhere from 5 to 20 min. I checked and everything looks fine, hardware tests, different drives, different drive buses. And same issues. I was trying to run Leopard server on it, then i tried leopard client, same issues. I'm back on tiger server, and it works great. I keep thinking it's a device issue maybe it doesn't like the built in ATA controller (even thought that wouldn't make any sense since it should be a supported machine). So I thought about possibly putting in a third party drive controller maybe SATA (However if the poster below has similar issues than that may rule that out of the question). I'm a little confused. This is a supported machine! Why would i have problems. I even used different install discs, didn't matter. I went through 6 installs of Leopard, (3 server, 3 client) and all the same results. So for now i'm still on Tiger Server...

  • [SOLVED] e4rat No improvement can be done

    I'm not sure if this has to be posted in the Newbie Cornet, I hope it do.
    Reading the post about e4rat in the forum and then reading the wiki about e4rat (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/E4rat, I decided to test it. So I follow the steps in the wiki, and in the "e4rat-realloc" step, it just informed me: No improvement can be done .
    It is possible e4rat can't help me? Or did I do something wrong?
    What I do:
    1.) put at the end of the line the init=/sbin/e4rat-collect
    2.) reboot
    3.) wait for the two minutes
    4.) init 1 and then e4rat-realloc /var/lib/e4rat/startup.log
    5.) here the message appeared, but still I continue with the procedure
    6.) change e4rat-collect in the burg.cfg with init=/sbin/e4rat-preload
    7.) reboot
    8.) no changes in boot time
    Things that maybe are important for this problem:
    - line of burg.cfg about the kernel:
    linux/boot/vmlinuz-3.0.3-ARCH root=/dev/disk/by-uuid/f168d4c1-ade6-4438-82ef-6edbfaa68c3c ootfstype=ext4 ro quiet add_efi_memmap rootdelay=5 resume=/dev/disk/by-uuid/68fa2501-b2ab-4125-a011-26cb0f20dbc0
        is vmlinuz-3.0.3-ARCH instead of vmlinuz-linux because is a compiled version by me
    - line of modules at rc.conf:
    MODULES=(acpi-cpufreq)
    - line of daemos at rc.conf:
    DAEMONS=(!hwclock ntpd @syslog-ng dbus wicd netfs @crond)
    - I use mingetty instead of agetty in /etc/inittab (for autologin in console propose)
    - I use .bash_profile to initialize openbox:
    [[ -f ~/.bashrc ]] && . ~/.bashrc
    if [[ -z $DISPLAY && ! -e /tmp/.X11-unix/X0 ]] && (( EUID )); then
    exec xinit
    fi
    and that is all.
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    @diegoauyon
    This is what I was talking about:
    0 akai@Arch-Akai: ~ 8:37 ---> e4rat-realloc -h
    Usage: e4rat-realloc [ option(s) ] [ mode ] files(s)
    OPTIONS:
    -V --version print version and exit
    -h --help print help and exit
    -v --verbose increment verbosity level
    -q --quiet set verbose level to 0
    -l --loglevel <number> set log level
    -f --force force reallocating files
    DEFRAGMENTATION MODES:
    -p --use-prealloc Use pre-allocation kernel patch
    -g --use-locality-group Create donor files in locality group.
    Please avoid other filesystem activities.
    -t --use-tld Take advantage of orlov's top-level direc-
    tory spreading algorithm. This typically
    leads to small holes between the files.
    For me, using tld ( -t ) on e4rat-prealloc led after 2-4 iterations from 600 or so fragments to 20, what also seemed to do e4rat-preload more effective

  • MSI GX 633 falled down

    Hi,
    Recently, I managed (somehow) to get my MSI fallen from table in the office to the ground.
    No external damage is visible, only Small piece of plastic was broken off, but that is already solved.
    Computer runs normally, nothing seems to be damaged, no hardware is malfunctioning so far.
    My question is, is there any inspection/test I might perform to make sure, that everything in the PC is in normal condition ?
    Or what hardware could have been damaged ?
    Regards,
    Daniel

    Yes, it can happen.
    That is the problem with a fallen machine, it's not to predict or test what has been damaged or not, there can be cracks in circuits that will show later on.
    As such my advise is: With a fallen Laptop/PC replace when troubles start.
    Do not try to repair the damage, as it typical leads from one repair to the next and the next and the next and the next....etc..
    If it works, you are lucky but if troubles start don't repair but buy a new one.

  • CS2 Need to set text bounding box to snap to exact measurement, not em size and without leading

    I am currently using CS2 working in a sign shop designing signs, banners and vehicle lettering.
    When working with text I need to know the exact letter height, not the em and without the leading. I need it exactly the way it would measure if converting the text to outlines. The reason I need this information is that when I output the lettering to a cutter/plotter to cut vinyl media I need to know the exact measurement so I can nest my lettering on my media size. The media is typically 24" wide which gives me 22.5" of available space once the pinch rollers on the machine are considered. Pinch rollers are rollers that engage a knurled driving wheel and "pinches" the media between them and thus guides the media through the plotter. Of course, when using any media one must make the best use of it to avoid making scrap or using more than is needed for the job at hand. Converting text to outlines gives me that measurement.
    One time awhile back I did a google search on this and found a one or two button fix that made the bounding box snap to the exact "ruler" height of the text. It worked great. But I got away from design work for a short period. When I returned I'd forgotten the process. Back when I did find it I never bookmarked or made a text file explaining the process and I'm ost in finding it again.
    I don't know exactly how I worded the google search but the answer I was looking for came up on the first page. That's probably why I didn't feel the need to bookmark it or write it down. Now, I've googled dozens of different wordings for my question and get nothing. It's likely a nomenclature/jargon issue and I've yet to stumble on it again.
    If anyone could help out I would so greatly appreciate it. As it is, when I get to the point that I need to know the exact ruler height of my lettering I convert my text to outlines. But then, as sometimes happens, I'll desire to change the font or try someting different but the text is not live so I'll have to start over with that line of lettering.
    I sincerely hope my explanation of my questions makes sense to anyone who might be reading this.

    Jacob Bugge, you are a blessing. This effect not only saves me time but avoids a lot of frustration when a client wants to change some copy or I commit a spelling error or have some other brain malfunction. Not to mention the sometimes hundreds of single words or number groups I must fit onto an artboard set to my available media space.
    Option 2 is exactly what I was looking for and I'll remember it forever now as I've spent parts of the past week searching that answer only to hear over and over again, "You can't do that in Illustrator".
    Thank you so much for your quick response!
