UI Element Colours

Hi
I'm trying to figure out how to colour an element in a Photoshop UI. For example colour a statictext label in red. I have read the details in the JavaScript Tools Guide relating to an onDraw callback and the graphics object, but as of yet I haven't figured out how to put this all together. I was doing something along these lines:
myWindow.myButton.onDraw = function() {this.graphics.foregroundColor = new Array(255, 0, 0, 0)};
But this returns a Data type mismatch. I'm probably doing something n00b but I'm kinda stuck and need some help or examples.
Cheers

Hi Bob. Thanks for the reply. This has started to make a little more sence to me now. I've been able to change the background colour of a window and also change the font of a text label.
However, I'm still struggling to colour text such as static text, or the label of a check box.
Can anyone give me some pointers as to how to do this? I've tried playing about with pen types and foreground colours, but as yet to no avail...

  • Anyway to set ProPhotoRGB as output space in ACR hosted by Elements?

Is there anyway to set ProPhoto RGB as the output space in ACR 4.4.1 hosted by Ps Elements 6 on a Windows Vista Home Premium laptop?
The images will be properly corrected using the full version of Photoshop 10.0.1 on my Mac, but I'm used to seeing the ACR preview window with ProPhoto RGB 16-bit set as the output space.
Or do the limitations of Ps Elements cripple ACR in this regard too?

    > I'm assuming the choices of sRGB and AdobeRGB in Element's ACR is strictly output and working space. Regardless of which is chosen the preview stays the same in ACR. Correct?
    > Does Elements ACR embed the sRGB or AdobeRGB working space after saving to tiff and can you save in 16bit tiff as well?
The way things work in Elements is that you have four choices for colour management:
None - This means any file you open will have any embedded profile ignored, the working space is effectively the same as your monitor, when you save a file any existing profile is removed.
Optimize for Web - This sets the working space to sRGB, so any file without a profile will be edited in that space. When you save such a file you can embed sRGB as it's profile on saving.
Optimize for Print - This sets the working space to Adobe RGB, and then behaves as for optimze for web but using Adobe RGB.
Let me choose - For files with no embedded profile, you can choose between sRGB or Adobe RGB and that will be the working space profile for that file. You can then save it with that profile.
For the latter three options, Elemenets always preserves the embedded profile if a file has one. So, if you have Elements set to optimze for web, but open a file with Adobe RGB, it will use Adobe RGB. Unlike full PS, you can't force sRGB working space on an Adobe RGB file. It will also preserve ProPhoto RGB too it seems, even though it's not a profile you can use in Elements to create files with.
Elements also provides the ability to convert (not assign) between sRGB and Adobe RGB. You can effectively do an assign by saving a file without the embedded profile, and then setting Elements colour settings to let me choose and then selecting the profile you wanted at that point...
As for ACR, I believe the preview works no differently than it does in full PS other than there is no option to select the output space in the ACR window (along with other restricted options). This is effectively set by the Elements color settings above, so you will get sRGB for optimse for web or Adobe RGB for optimise for print. When it's set to let me choose, I think it defaults to using whatever your camera's default colour space is set to as this is still in the EXIF info, but am not sure there. ACR does let you specify 16 bit output though, so depending on the base colour settings in Elements you can create a 16-bit AdobeRGB TIFF file, save it with the correct profile, and also easily create a correct 8-bit sRGB JPEG from it for web use.
So, no, Elements is not as flexible as full PS, but, if you want to stick with Adobe RGB and sRGB, then I reckon it's all there and it's not quite as pathetic as Ramon says. If you want ProPhoto RGB, then to be fair, Elements is probably not for you anyway.

    Hi Experts......
How to change the look and feel of the R/3 transactions in portals.....
I need to change the color of the screen display and nodes.
Is there any easier way to do that....Kindly provide the inputs...
    Thanks in Advance,

    Hi Jasmine,
generally you have to "Theme Editor" in the portal which allows top level customization of design elements/ colours for the R/3 applicatins to be integrated into the portal.
Changed designs on a deeper levels for ITS can be done with SAP@Web Studio. Kindly check the help for further information.

  • CSS equivalent in Swing?

    hi all,
i'm trying to standardize all my GUI components in a way such that different containers will be having the same colours for status bars, panel background, etc...
i'm thinking of having something similar to webpages' CSS (Cascade Style Sheets)...such that i could specify all the different colours of different components in one file and that all classes in my package will be following the same set of rules...
is there a standard way in acheiving something like that in Swing?
    thank you very much!

Defaults for user interface elements (colours, fonts...) can be set using the pluggeable look and feel (PLAF) classes and settings. Take a look at "Building a defaults table" at http://java.sun.com/products/jfc/tsc/articles/lookandfeel_reference/index.html#defaults

  • Background in boris

    Hey guys:
I'm in Boris and doing black type.
How do I change the background to white so I
can see what it looks like when I hit apply.
Right now I hit apply and in the viewer I get black text
    with black background.
    Thanks
    d

There is a button in the viewer and browser with what looks like a viewfinder outline (broken box) It's the 3rd from the right at the top of the window. Click that and you can choose white as the bg colour.
Better still, just place the title over whatever it's going to be over in the timeline.
    EDIT FOR MORE EXPLAINATION
In order to have your black text actually play back over a white bg, you'll have to add a white element (colour matte, or other clip created with whatever) to the track beneath the text track. Choosing white as the bg in the browser or viewer is only a bg for viewing purposes. If you render and play, it will still be black.

  • Adobe InDesign Styles

Hi i have a question related to InDesign styles.
I have a document with 100 pages, every 10 pages the colour scheme changes, gradients, background element colours, box corners (rounded and straight), fonts etc and i was wondering would object styles work and save time or is it quicker having a separate document for each 10 pages and just delete and replace the colours in the swatch library with the next colour?
There will be an on going amount of pages as i am building up a template library and there will be more colours and combinations to be added so i want to set the document up right from the start to save time in the long run.
Any advice would be greatefully recieved.
    Thanks

This was discussed recently on the forum. Search Google for "InDesign styles used script" without quotes.

.if arc rate is less than 30 ...display the needle as green
if arc rate is between 30 and 60  ...Yellow Colour
if the arc rate is > 60 .......Red
Or the other way is display the sector covering the value as  red or green or yellow depending on the value ?
If any of this is possible ...please let me know the procedure.
    Thanks & regards,

    Hi,
Unfortunatly, currently the gauge cannot be dynamically styled like that.

Elements 13 - a jpg file always opens in B & W raw and I cannot get it to open in colour. Same file opens OK in colour in Elements 9. Any suggestions how I can get it to open in colour in Elements 13?

Thanks for your reply - I just open the file with "Open" in the File menu - all my own jpg files open fine in colour. This is someone else's photo given to me and it does not matter how I open it "Open", "Open in raw" or "Open with ..." it always opens in B & W raw in the raw dialogue box. In Elements 9, which I also have on my PC it opens fine as jpg in colour so I can edit it there, but I am just wondering why I am getting this problem in elements 13. If I open it in any other programme such as Windows Photo viewer or Office 2010 viewer it opens fine in colour.
Not sure what you mean by "basic settings" menu.

  • Having trouble 'replacing colour' in Photoshop Elements 12 + help does not work?

I was trying to use the 'replace colour' function as found by going :-

This 'help' seems to work everywhere else [well at least in the places I have tried so far.]
So why is this? has anyone else had this specific area of HELP fail?  I need to know is it just my system, is it accessing this HELP stuff over the net, or is it preloaded when you by the retail pack?
Course it would be in an area I can not make work!
Note Other areas of help in this general menu area work eg
i.e. the options either side of this all work fine.
    Any views guidance welcome.
Other than reload the product! LOL I just don't have a spare week to waste getting it all going again!

    Hi Nealeh
Thanks i think I got it working of a fashion.
Except the replace colour, does not seem to end up with the colour I picked using the picker tool. Its as though it hads not replaced the colour but blended in the desired colour with the old incorrect colour!
Buy trial and error picking not the right colour but close - which when mixed with the existing colour is close.
Sorry I can't post the pictures as the Lingerie Mfg, has me under non disclosure.
The scenario is:-  say a blonded mainly tanned model a high cut [at the hips] corsette style basque, with an ultra low bra line.
Our dear model, has just come back from St Barts with a fabulous Tan, and equally striking bold Tan lines!.
So we have great tanned legs, then the 'porcelain white band' where her swimsuit was.
Likewise we have a tanned face, and arms, shoulders etc and a great tan on the top of the cleavage, then it stops, white band to the top of the ultralow cut bra line of the basque.
She must have lived in like the most conservative bikini on the planet [50's style], for 2 weeks!
Had she had a normal skimpy bikini on, no problem!
If i don't solve it, she will get fired!

  • Colour issue with 'Save for Web' - Photoshop Elements 6 (Mac)

Cross posted here, but no answer so far. Sorry for cross posting. For me, this is urgent, but I know it's not for anyone else, so apologies for putting 'urgent'.
    http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/images-graphic-design-digital-photography/150670-colour-i ssue-save-web-photoshop-elements-6-a.html#post840419
This is a similar issue to this:
    Save for web color issue
Except the user who posted the above was using photoshop cs3, and I'm using Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.
When I work on a photo, I get it just right, then go to Save for Web, and the original it previews is loads lighter than the orginal I was working on in the first place. See 'Picture 1' attachment.
I have changed the colour settings on the Save for Web options - I've chosen each one in turn, and none fix the problem.
There seems to be no similar option in PSE6 to this that fixed it in CS3:
IN the save for web box there is a small round button with an arrow in it (near the Done button).
In the list when this button is pressed deselect Convert to sRGB
I used to use PSE2 on a PC, and never had this problem. I didn't need to mess about with colour profiles or anything similar on the PC. The original was the original, not a washed out version of the original. Why spend ages getting the file just right, only for Save for Web to screw it up?
Any advice to fix this would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

Thanks very much for your reply.
    I've uploaded the images here:
    http://jimpix.co.uk/images/Picture 1.jpg
    http://jimpix.co.uk/images/Picture 2.png
I deleted the prefs. file you suggested, and then opened PSE6.
I then tried the profile setting you suggested - but it's not an option:
    http://jimpix.co.uk/images/Picture 3.png
I tried 'remove profile' just in case that worked, but the same effect happens on Save for Web.
Not sure what to try next!
    Thanks

  • Elements 10, Camera Raw 6.7: no colour space choices

    Newbie alert!
I'm no expert on Photoshop or Camera Raw, but I read everywhere that I should be able to change the colour space of the Camera Raw output.  At the moment I can only get the default which is sRGB but I want Adobe.
There's a little camera gizmo titled "Camera Calibration" underneath the histogram, but it's not there.
I've read that there should be some control in the middle beneath the preview but there's nothing there either.
    Is this hobbled in Elements?
    Thanks,
    Keith

Thanks for the reply: I'm aware I can set the colour space in the editor but my concern is that if it's exported from Camera Raw as sRGB then converted to AdobeRGB that there may be some information loss, my thinking being that getting it right early is better than later.  Am I right in thinking that converting from sRGB to ARGB will lose information, or more likely won't have the full information set in the first place because the initial export from RAW is to sRGB?
I have to say I find the subject of colour management quite mystifying ... but I gather I'm not alone in that.
    Thanks again.
Keeping in mind that a raw file has no color profile (it's not even an 'image', it's a recording of light intensity for each of the photosites laid out in a 'Bayer pattern' with Red, Green and blue filters) and that your raw file information will never be altered by any converter, you can be sure that it is always possible to re-process the raw file to aRGB without any information loss.
You are perfectly right that the resulting image (psd, tiff, jpeg...) when you save from the editor will keep its color profile and that converting sRGB to aRGB won't add any useful information; that's what I said in the other post.
When I was experimenting on that matter with other users in another forum, I was able to select previously edited raw files containing subtle tones in green/cyan and re-process them in aRGB instead of sRGB and I got better results on my 6-inks home printer.
Don't believe all images will be better in aRGB, there are not necessarily 'out of gamut' colours in all of your pictures.

Is there any mean to adapt the file to make its reading possible?
Did somebody get the same problem?

It is a high order probability that your SQL's report generator is creating the PDF, not Acrobat (which by design and EULA cannot be used in as/with server).
That the report generator outputs to an old-old version of PDF bears this out.
Wiki articles on PDF are very nice for those high level intro summaries.
To know / understand PDF you purchase and study the ISO Standard for PDF (ISO 32000-1:2008).
Rather than "PDF validation" you may want to consider addressing the appearent root cause of the problem(s).
You can change the email2fax application to one that can deal with older PDF versions.
You can change the report generator to one that can output to the ISO Standard.
(Perhaps the in-use application can be configured to output to the current version of PDF (i.e., the ISO Standard).
    Be well...

  • Colour disparity between LR4.1 and Elements

    Hi all.
I am new to Adobe and the printing of my digital images (using a third party lab).
Pictures I take are in RAW and I only use LR4.1 for post production before exporting images in JPEG and colour space sRGB. I am seeing a visible change on the same monitor between LR4.1 and Adobe Elements 6.0. I should point out the image I like is show in Elements 6.0 or other microsoft (colour managed) application.
Upon having some of the images printed I am seeing a close resemblance to what is in LR4.1 but the B&W images all seem to have this brown tint to them rather than the pure B&W I would expect as shown in Elements or other colour manged application.
On occasions the 'Detail' preview pain also shows the image in the B&W I would expect to see rather than the larger image displayed or that shown under the 'navigator' menu.
I should also point out that on the same monitor (Dell 2208WFP) the colour pictures are near as perfect.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thank you for your time.

You have a corrupted monitor profile.  You can confirm it using these instructions: http://www.lightroomqueen.com/2008/12/28/corrupted-monitor-profile/  but that's only a temporary fix - you then need to calibrate the monitor properly.
