UI Sound defective

I have a simple but annoying problem (since I got used to it...), the UI interface sounds stopped working. Did try the sound panel but it won't come back on. It just happened while I was iChatting, and those sounds are gone too. Everything else is working perfectly normal. Clues anyone?

i have this exact same problem and it is the most annoying thing. i dread having to do anything to files because of that stupid delay.
i didn't realize it was the sound file that was causing the delay, i thought it had to do with the action being performed. thank you for figuring it out!
i unchecked "play user interface sound effects" in the sound preference panel, and i think that eliminates the delay because it doesn't try to play the sounds. but that is a sucky solution because the sounds are helpful
maybe someone could write a script that plays the sounds muted every 30 seconds so they stay loaded?
anyway, you are not alone.

  • Insignia TV - Sound (Defective TV)

I purchaed a 32 LCD TV the sound on this TV does not work.  I have to turn the tv on several times for the sound to come to play.  The Geek Squad has been out to my home and they stated that it was the cable box.  After 4 new cable boxes and several cable service calls the problem still exist.  I am with a new cable company and have a new box and I am still experiencing the same sound issue.  I am not pleased with the way BestBuy has presented themselves and the Geek Squad is a joke!  They are not friendly and rude especially the Supr Patti # [removed employee number].  I am going file a complaint with the BBB and the Dept of Consumer Affairs and the Corporate Office of Best Buy.
    [edited per forum guidlines]

The tv is hooked up to the cable box as it would normally be hooked up cable outlet to tv, HDMI cable from the cable box to the tv.  The cable company has switched out cables several times and the red and white cables has been changed several times as well.  I purposesly didnt hook the tv and box up to my surround sound to make sure the tv was the problem. All cables and cords have been switched out on several occasions. The problem lies within the the switch on the tv.  Have tried several different remotes just in case it was the remote.  Since the purchase of this tv there has been nothing but problems.  Bottom line the tv is defective and needs to be replaced.  I have gone thru the Best Buy chain of commands and did everything on my part and I am no longer going any further with this.  This is the last straw and I am fed up with this tv and the only option Best Buy can offer me is a brand new tv in the box just as I purchased it.

  • Sound defect on iTunes

Hi, I'm new here so I hope this is the right forum to ask this.
I have a song entitled "Eyes on Me" from the piano collections album of Final Fantasy VIII. I encoded to both .m4a AAC and .mp3 LAME. But I have some problems with the sound in both iTunes and iPod. Somehow, in various part of the song especially at 2:10 until 2:25 I can hear some crackling noise in the background. It sounds like it can't handle the high frequency part of the song. Not to mention the existence of white noise at the start.
I thought this was quality problem or equalizer. I changed the EQ to DEFAULT then back to LOUDNESS, then to PIANO. The noise still exists. I encoded to 256kbps HE-AACplus, then to 320kbps .mp3... All with the same result.
Then I thought it was encoding problem or my earphones. So I tested using other players such as the default Windows Media Player and Winamp on the same file I encoded. The sound was perfect, there's no noise at all. I used the same computer for both tests, the same volume level and the same earphones. It only happen to iTunes, and sadly in iPod as well.
I wish someone could help me with this, how can I solve this problem coz I want to listen to it in iPod?
    Thanks

Never mind. I solved it on my own.
I just need to encode it to MP4/LC-AAC.

  • Insignia LCD 32 inch TV sound (works, but really fuzzy/lame)

just yesterday i purchased the 32 inch dvd/TV LCD. Set up was easy, but wow, the sound is awful especially on non HD channels..it was really bad when I went to watch a show in the Comcast OnDemand section.
It's sort of a fuzzy/static-y sound. Anyone have this problem? i know it's not a top of the line unit, but c'mon...I have HD coaxial cable into cable box from the wall obviously, and HDMI cable running from box to TV.
Thanks for any suggestions. I was thinking about returning the TV.

I don't have any problems with the sound on my 32" Insignia or my 22" except my 22 is very low but sounds great.  Try hooking up an audio rca jack or a different HDMI cable incase the one you have it defective.  If that doesn't work then yes I would return the TV as it sound defective.  The stores usually have the TV's on for you I would check the sound of one of them sitting on the shelf.
Also check the reviews on the specific model number that you purchased.

  • This Officejet 6500A is so noisy - both previous HP printers were quite. Sounds like a tractor

This HP printer I've owned - loved the others.  The new Officejet 6500A is so noisy - it sounds like a tractor starting whenever it pulls in a new page to print.  YUK  Any suggestions ??

The printer sounds defective, my Officejet 6500 was as quiet as my other HP inkjet printers.  I would first try the troubleshooting steps in this page to ensure the paper path is not obstructed, if that fails I would suggest you Contact HP.

  • N8, updates and poor performance....

I have had my N8 now for just under a year now, and if anyone is considering getting one, don't bother. Ever since I have had it, it has not lived up to what I was told it would do by the sales person. Admittedly, when I first got the handset it  had only just been released, so he was only going by the information given out by Nokia, so I can't hold it against him. The phone was slow, constantly needs rebooting and obtaining signal was like trying to find the proverbial pot of gold at the end of a rainbow (again the signal problem may have been the service providers fault, has anyone else been told to switch off the phone and remove the battery when you have problems ? Nice to know the service providers are conversant with the phones !)
Well, imagine my excitement when I read about the update for the software ? Well, that was as short lived as the British summer. Having installed it (two attempts needed, should have seen what was coming) I found that the phone was transformed. Instead of the nice icons, they had all been updated with ones no better and alot of the the icons in the sub menus were now just white. Certain things were worse than before. Right, lets persevere and see what the updates like. Well, two days later I'm ready to rearrange the phone with a hammer.
I now have the problem that even when the phone is showing a signal, I cannot make or receive calls or texts. The phone has to be rebooted to be able to do this.
When going to my emails, it is now difficult to synchronise the accounts. Having deleted emails via my computer, I have to do it all again on the handset (Nokia please note, your customers did understand the word synchronise, you didn't need to rename it 'send and receive').
I am unfortunately tied to a two year contract, so it will cost me money to escape from this devil disguised as a mobile telephone. I have always had Nokia handsets, but certainly won't in future. I have emailed Nokia regarding the problem prior to the updates, telling them what I think of this telephone, to be told to do a reset on the handset (guess what, beat you to that one and it made no difference ). It was also suggested there may be a fault and to return it to a Nokia service point. However, everybody I have spoken to has the same problems, so I know it isn't my handset that's faulty, it's the N8 in general.
If anyone from Nokia does read this, perhaps you could let me know how to change my phone back so that data is not lost. And if you you bump into the person who designed the 'upgrade', please kick him up the backside for me.

I hate to say this to you at this point, but, none of the issues (pre-Anna) that you describe are normal. Freezing, rebooting, signal issues and needing to pull the battery to reset. All of these are indications of a bad handset and you should have returned it for a replacement. The Anna update was not going to fix those issues.
As for the Anna update, there does seem to be a large number of complaints and the thing seems to have been sent out half-cooked. A shame really. Personally I am using a custom firmware and couldn't be happier with my Nate now. This of course is the benefit of buying a non-contract phone, dont have to worry about bricking a carrier owned device.
Good luck though. If I were you I would demand that Nokia replace that handset as it really does sound defective.

  • Left USB on MacBook Pro not working.

I've got a brand new MacBook pro unibody (not the one from WWDC though, I have the one with the removable battery (late 2008 I guess) and the left USB port which is closest to the firewire port doesn't work. The computer is only 3 weeks old and I can't remember if it ever worked, it may have worked with a USB mouse the first time I turned it on but I'm not sure. Since then I've tried it with my iPhone, iPod, external hard drive, 3 different digital cameras and the wired mouse again. It's not even a recognition issue because my iPhone/iPod doesn't even charge when connected! So I guess it's severely underpowered. The only sign of power I've gotten from it is when I plug in the mouse and the mouse's red light flashes twice then disappears.
I've tried resetting the SMC per Apple's directions here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411
I tried both methods and still nothing. I've also run the hardware test but it found nothing (although I didn't run the long version).
Any suggestions would be most welcome! I'm thinking of taking back to the store tomorrow though (not an Apple Store, we don't have one here )

It sounds defective and you need to take it back to an Authorized Apple dealer or repair centre for them to fix it under Warranty.

  • 32GB Iphone 5C Yellowish Tint on Screen?

Just go a 32GB Iphone 5C over the weekend and noticed there's a very subtle yellow to the white color.  I know the 5S and 5C uses the same screen so I compared my phone to my buddy's and girlfriend's.  It turns out my Iphone does look slightly on the yellowish side.
I took it into the Apple store and after my session with the tech, they replaced by Iphone.  I happily walked out of the store thinking its solved and as my phone completed the restore process, I noticed it being the same.  Is this a common issue for the 32GB Iphone 5Cs??
    Anybody else noticing this??

The screen sounds defective. There should be no color distortion along the edge. I would insist that they replace it.

  • New iPad (3 gen) Home button requires pressure

The Home button on my new Ipad (3 gen) requires more pressure to activate than my old iPad (1 gen).  Is anyone else experiencing this with the new iPad?

I have not.  My new IPad (3rd Gen) home button requires very little pressure.  Sounds defective.  If you are in the return window, return it.  If not, sounds like you need to setup service as you are covered under warranty.

  • Bad Battery or Normal

So I just bought an iPhone 3g about 5 days ago and the battery life is horrible I get about 5 hours of usage and 12 hours of standby before its in the red and almost dead. Is this normal or do I have a bad battery. I use it mostly for texting and e mail. I have 3g, wifi, and bluetooth turned off. I sometimes use wifi. Also when it goes to sleep sometimes it shuts off my service so I don't know if Im receiving a call or text or email. Could someone please tell me if this is normal cause it sure sounds defective to me. Thanks!

The iPhone uses battery power per data collection set time.
If you have MobileMe or an inbox set with PUSH enabled or set to X minutes or 1 hour, each time the server is pinged orsing games and applications costs power.
If you are in an isolated area with "No Service", the iPhone uses even more power to boost the signal to receive calls.
The same goes for any normal cellphone service. If in an isolated area with "No Service" it costs the "even more power" issue.
Switch your iPhone to "Airplane Mode" or buy a home/car charger if you wish to keep your iPhone on as long as you want. This reserves your iPhone's battery power until you are ready to make phone calls or receive data.
