UK availability of MSI TI4200

Hi guy's
I'm looking to but an MSI TI4200 (one of the 128mb models) but the places I usually get my hardware from (dabs, watford and ebuyer) don't have any available.
Does anyone know a good place to buy one of these graphics cards at a reasonable price?
Xune

Damn, I knew it was too good to be true. They've got some good deals at newegg.
Ah well.
Johnny Englishman has found the best deal on this graphics card, £129.25 at Scan, if anyone else is looking for one.
Also, some people have been complaining of malfunctioning GF4's. The problem seems to have been due a lack of power from the PSU in most circumstances.
I'm using the 300w PSU that came pre-installed in my Suntek Eclipse case and I intend to O/C this card. Does anyone think it'll give me any problems?
Cheers, Xune.

  • MSI Ti4200 128MB card availability

My son's friend is building a system very close to the same as mine and he has most of the parts now that he bought from NewEgg. The problem is that he wants to use the MSI Ti4200 video card that I have but he can't seem to locate one.
Has MSI stopped producing these video cards or is the demand so great that nobody has any? I haven't even been able to locate many of them from Price Watch or other search engines either.
Any ideas where he can get one would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Mike

  • Bios update failed on MSI TI4200-T8X64 graphics adapter

during the installation procedure of a new desktop we proceeded the update of live update 2 to live update 3 -
afterwards we checked the availability of a new vga bios and tried to install it to the MSI TI4200-T8X64 graphics adapter of the desktop -
the installation failed and after the reboot the graphics adapter did show any results anymore -
so we had to insert a second vga card (pci) and swith to primary pci vga usage in the desktops bios -
so we are able to start windows, but we are not able to get a functional bios via live update 2 or 3.
where do we get a functional bios version and the flash-tool for our graphics adapter????
    thanks for your quick help!

I think there should be a jumper on that card, I have the 4200 VTD128 8x model and there is a jumper with a green shunt. Look in the Bulletin at the top of this VGA forum, there are instructions on how to recover from a bad BIOS flash(If the jumper is present)
If not, Please give the number on the BIOS sticker, it should say for example:n8894MS100 something like that.
What is the part number in white silkscreen lettering on the fan side say?

  • MSI Ti4200 Run DLL as an app. error

    Hi all,
Sorry if this has been answered before.
I have an MSI Ti4200 VTD-8X (128mb) with VIVO running on a 2.4Ghz, 512 mb, Asus P4S8X motherboard, PC running Windows XP.
The problem is that when I try to access the MSI Settings tab in the control panel I get a " Run.DLL as an application error" message. The error message was more detailed before I upgraded to service pack 2 and said something about 'system 32' but now all I get is the above message. I can access all other options under the control panel but not this one.
Tried all latest and different drivers as well as un-installing re-installing Windows to no avail. Problem has been present since I bought the PC (about a year and a half ago).
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers for the prompt replies.
The problem was there even when the computer was brand new and the only drivers that had been installed were from the MSI disc. Have since tried all combinations of uninstalling/re-installing MSI drivers and XP itself to no avail. Uninstalling the old one as opposed to installing the new one over the top as well. Currently using the latest Forceware driver (5.6 or 6.something?) and find that to be pretty good (fixed another problem I had with capturing video) but still didn't fix this problem.
Forgive me, as I know very little about this sort of thing, but could it be a conflict with the card and motherboard (even though Asus list the card as compatible) ? Or a bios thing ?
Tried in vain to get help from MSI with no luck. Frustrating as I'd like to tickle the old girl up a bit. I hear you can get them running the same specs as Ti4400's.
    Thanks again.

  • Overheating and Lock ups with MSI TI4200 128DDR

This card seems to overheat and lock up during game play.
      Does anyone have a solution?
    My system:
    P4 1.8Ghz 512K
    Intel D845WNL
    512 Mb PC133
    SB Live 5.1
    MSI TI4200 128DDR
    WIN 98SE
    300W PSU in a standard P4 case
    No overclocking
Currently I play games with the case open and an external fan blowing into it.
    This as fixed the problem.
I looking for a permanent solution.
Should I get a better PSU?
...or should I just get an ATI 9700 Pro

From what you said your PSU is handling the load but having a dual fan PSU will help temps by maybe a degree or two.
You may not have adequate ventilation and need to ad some fans to your case but that may be the straw that breaks the camels back if you are on the edge as far as adequate power is concerned.
There are quite a few folks that run with the side covers off but you have to keep in mind the ambient temperature where the PC is being used in any case.
So far my experience with GF4 cards is they inherently run hot and can raise the temp in your case several degrees. Nature of the beast.
Bottom line, better cooling and airflow is paramount and take a look at the heatsink, it may have been mounted poorly...this happens with any manufacturer at times and I usually re-mount it with a thermal paste of my preference. Keep in mind you will probably void your warranty with the manufacturer should you need to return or RMA the product.

  • Flash Player 16 PPAI available in MSI and EXE form for distribution?

    Hi,
Do we have Flash Player 16 PPAI plugin available in MSI and EXE form for distribution?
    Where can we find that?
    Thanks,
    Prakash

    Hi Prakash,
Sorry for the delay and confusion about the application process.  That was my fault as I thought your application through our normal channel would at least flag a manual response from the team that works on licensing.
As it stands, we're currently working through legal and logistical issues for PPAPI distribution.  We hope to have a mechanism in place in the coming months.  I should also note that we do not have plans at this time to create an MSI or PKG version of the ppapi installer.  Of course, we'll reevaluate if there's demand.
I'd like to understand your use case a bit better.  Would you mind dropping me an email at [email protected] and explaining how you'll be using the ppapi build and how many clients you expect to distribute to?
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Overclocking the MSI Ti4200-VTD8X ?

i just got my Ti4200-VTD8X MS-8894 (good card )and would like to see if it's safe to overclock it.
what would be a fairly safe speed to clock this card (msi Ti4200-VTD8X) to ? , as i would like to overclock it to get a little more speed out of it

Download and install Coolbits and install it to your registry by double clicking it...
Then reboot, open Display properties and you'll see a new entry in the settings menu for the card...enable it..
Then tweak away a little at a time until you start seeing artifacts on your screen, 3DMark2001SE is a good program to test it with...
When you start seeing artifacts then back it off to the last setting that was good and you'll be there!!
    Cheers!! 8)

  • MSI Ti4200-VTD8X

I have recently purchased the MSI Ti4200-VTD8X on 4/21 and received on 4/24 and installed the same day. After installation the card stunk I mean it stinks, it smells really BAD like electronics buring. I have been a PC tech for 10 years and know that smell is not a good smell. Whenever I smell it I know that something has obviously failed and it is usually accompanied by smoke. I have never had a device that smelt like this and still worked properly. I had removed the card to see if anything had melted but it looks fine. The card itself has a slight smell it but the smell seems as though it is coming from the fan. I have friend of mine who had bought an Enermax power supply and had this happen and it stilled worked fine which at the time I thought was very unusual and still works to this day. Has anyone else had this happen? Should I return it to be on the safe side so that damage is not caused to any other components if it does fail?

    BlackAce,
Yep, thats an RMA candidate if I ever saw one!
    Sorry,
    Richard

  • How do I remove MSI Ti4200 drivers?

    I have an MSI Ti4200 and Win98.
I installed the latest MSI video card drivers.
But now I want to remove them and install the Nvidia ones.
No matter what I do, I can't seem to remove the MSI drivers completely.
    What's the uninstall procedure?
    Thanks,
    MrMatt

    MrMatt,
After you uninstall the MSI drivers, do a search for msicpl.dll and delete it. You will find it in your Windows directory.  That will get rid of the MSI tabs.
    Take Care,
    Richard

If i select safe mode the system boots up in safe mode.
I also noticed after I had taken windows back to last known good configuration that windows had not recognised my card and just showed VGA adapter with the yellow exclaimation mark. I have tried another graphics card and that worked fine.

The TI4200 came out of my previous MSI KT400 Ultra

Doesn't matter if the old PSU ran your old system. That's not the case now. We need the make, model, and specs of your PSU.
We can't help you if you don't give us the info we requested. Obviously, you have a problem and you can't find it, so you're possibly overlooking something. Read my article on PSU's at the top of the forum. Total wattage rating doesn't guarantee a thing, and many PSU manufacturers intentionally deceive their customers.

  • Msi ti4200-8x and games bundle

    Hi,
just bought a msi ti4200-vtd8x, and started to play with the bundled software.
Some of the bundled games do not run at all !
these worst are : sum of all fears demo
    and ghost recon.
These install but crash during the game start, just a short moment a black screen, and the back to the desktop.
    my testing sofar :
    Not running in my msi 845e max2blr + ti4200-vtd8x with win98se
    Not running in my msi 845e max2blr + ti4200-vtd8x with win2k
Not running in my ecs k7s5a + ti4200-vtd8x with win98se
They run in my asus k7v133 + matrox marvel G400 with win98se, although a bit slow...
So, do I have a defective videocard, or is the gamesbundle not tested by MSI ?
    George

    Richard,
the rest of the hardware is not very interresting,
    My P4 system :
    floppy drive.
    p4 2.4Ghz 533 fsb + 2 * 512 Mb ddr
MSI 845e max2 blr (lan, sound, raid etc all used)
    2 80G maxtor in raid0
    1 80G maxtor for the OS (win98SE or win2k sp2)
    liteon DVD
liteon cdrw temporarily removed (something wrong with it)
and 1 PCI card : realtek 8029(AS) because I needed to connect to a BNC network.
And of course the MSI ti4200-vtd8x
All bundled in a AOPEN H600A housing with 300W supply.
After inserting the ti4200, I had a stable system, until I
closed my computer case. So I have added some extra fans.
This system refused to run some of the bundled games (SOAF and Ghos recon) using win98se or win2k.
all drivers from the MSI installation CD's
So I tried another system :
    amd athlon tb 800Mhz + 256Mb sdram
    floppy drive
    ECS k7s5a (lan, sound)
    20 G maxtor with win98se
    AOPEN DVD
another AOPEN housing with 250W power supply.
and I put the TI4200 in this system.
    same games refused to run.
So I tried on a third system, to check if the fault is in the games :
    amd athlon xp 1800 @ 1.6Ghz + 1G sdram
    asus a7v133 + raid
    terratec 1024 sound
    realtec 8139 lan
    1 40gb maxtor
    1 80gb maxtor
    2 40gb maxtor in raid0
    asus dvd
    liteon cdrw
matrox marvel G400TV 16Mb agp videocard.
    300W or 350W powersupply.
and those MSI bundled games run !
so this leaves 2 possibilities :
    - msi ti4200-vtd8x is defective
    - bundled games do not work with this newer agp 8x card type.
    George
