Unable to access some sites

Hello,
Over the past few days, when I use my smartphone (or computer) connected to the LAN (Verizon FiOS - Actiontec router - rev i), I am unable to get to some sites (s4gru.com or kwiksetkevo.com). The browser returns a "couldn't connect message. If I switch to my smartphone's LTE connection, I can connect to these sites without a problem.
On both devices, I have tried to use DHCP, and then switched to a static IP (with Google's DNS servers) - no difference. I have been able to get to these sites till last week.
I called Verizon yesterday, and they indicated that mxtoolbox indicates that my IP is blacklisted on SORBS DUHL & Spamhaus ZEN. They tried to reset/restart my router and give me a new IP, but my IP still appears to be the same. (phone call dropped, so couldn't verify that with the Verizon technician on the call).
Reading at those sites, it doesn't look like my IP is actually blacklisted - spamhaus's site for example indicates that my IP (part of the IP range actually) is on PBL398013, and the FAQ for that states "The first thing to know is: THE PBL IS NOT A BLACKLIST. You are not listed for spamming or for anything you have done. The PBL is simply a list of all of the world's dynamic IP space, i.e: IP ranges normally assigned to ISP broadband customers (DSL, DHCP, PPP, cable, dialup). It is perfectly normal for dynamic IP addresses to be listed on the PBL.". So, I guess I'm not sure what the issue is.
Here's the tracert result from my PC for s4gru.com.

Solved!
Go to Solution.

I have a feeling this is a bad route, bogon issue vs a DNS issue.
If you can access your router, do the following, and you'll hopefully be working in 5 minutes.
Actiontec MI424-WR - RELEASE DHCP
Click on MY NETWORK icon at the top.
Select NETWORK CONNECTIONS from the menu on the left.
Select BROADBAND CONNECTION (coax or ethernet) depending on your connection to the ONT.
Click SETTINGS
Click RELEASE
Click APPLY
Disconnect the router immediately to prevent it from re-requesting a DHCP lease ---- wait 5 minutes, and turn it all back on and try again

  • Can't access some sites when using Aiport Express, why?

I'm using Windows 7 and my router is a wireless Apple Airport Express that is approximately two years old. Suddenly I can't access some sites (for example www.sthlm.friskissvettis.se, or www.vegetarian-shoes.co.uk, some streamed tv-shows on svtplay.se, and a number of other random sites) when connecting to internet with my router. It worked good until recently and I'm fairly sure this problem emerged when my ISP upgraded from 10/10mbit to 100/10mbit speed. Most other sites like facebook and google works fine.
When using my network cable to connect to internet everything works fine and I can access these sites.
Firmware is current and I've tried reseting the router to factory defaults.
Tried different browsers, and I can't ping the "blocked" sites either. Tracert www.sthlm.friskissvettis.se starts with 10.0.0.1 and continues through a number of long addresses until it says timeout. The last working address before timeout was sth-tcy-ipcore01-ge-0-2-0.neq.dgcsystems.net [83.241.252.13], if it matters. Tracert www.vegetarian-shoes.co.uk also eventually gives me a timeout.
When the network cable is plugged in, I still get timeout on tracert www.sthlm.friskissvettis.se even though I can access the site in Chrome. Weird. www.vegetarian-shoes.co.uk doesn't give me a tracert timeout when the cable is plugged in, and I can access the site as usual.
I've tried changing DNS servers to use opendns servers instead, but to no use.
I've tried pinging these two sites with a lower MTU packet size (with this method: http://www.richard-slater.co.uk/archives/2009/10/23/change-your-mtu-under-vista- or-windows-7/), but still can't access them through ping...
I don't know what to do anymore.... any suggestions???
    Thanks

  • After updating to 10.4.11 unable to access certain site.

Since I updated to 10.4.11 I am unable to access the site: www.wdwinfo.com. My wife would listen to a podcast hosted by the site. iTunes just keeps spinning away that it's looking. I tried all four browsers on my machine to see if I could reach the site (Safari, Camino, Firefox and Flock). I cleaned all caches and histories. I am able to get to the site on my ipod touch on my neighbours open wifi. I can even ping the site on my machine and get a response but as far as my browsers and iTunes are concerned they just sit there waiting to connect. I called my ISP and they can get the site no problem. I tried another computer in the building that is with the same provider and they have no problem. All other websites and podcasts work fine.
I'm running 10.4.11 on an 1.83GHz Intel iMac.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Mark

The 216.167.116.52 address worked for about an hour while I downloaded the podcasts and then stopped working. I entered the DNS Server number you mentioned in the network settings but I'm still back to no access.
The setup I am working with is ExpressVu TV/Internet for condos. The phone company (Bell) setup a main frame in the building and provide my TV and internet over the same cable. The motorola box set top box had a modem installed into it when they were setting it up. Ethernet from it to my Mac. In my network setting it shows that there is a router in the path. Would the router trump me putting in the DNS numbers? I'm guessing the router is sitting at the mainframe in the building.

  • Trouble accessing some sites today April 10, 2012

I woke up this morning at 5:30 AM to discover I could not access my FIOS Internet. After about an hour on hold with Verizon Support I realized I could suddenly access some sites, but not all. For example, I can search on Google but cannot access any sites that pop up in the search results. I can access my local news web site, but not CNN. Very odd. This impacts all of my devices, both Ethernet and wireless connected. I am in PA zip code 19006. FIOS TV is working. Anyone else having this problem?

It's not likely a DNS issue since I use OpenDNS servers from my Ubuntu Linux desktop.  This has to be a routing issue.  I can access Yahoo, Google (and Gmail) and Verizon.com but none of the ads or other links from the searches are accessible.  Can't acecess Facebook, Speedtest, Engadget with direct IP addresses.

  • Unable to access secured site for some

    Greetings.
I have setup a secured website on a 10.4 server. The site is the default page in the WebServer\Documents folder.
I can access it fine from work and have had others access it without issue from computers at their homes using typical ISPs. However, when I try to have other access it from other locations using the same login and password, such as a business with its own networks, they are unable to connect. They get back an error message saying the password is in correct.
Everyone can access the site when I have the security settings turned off.
I have set up a realm to handle accessing the site. I have the following also enabled:
    WebDAV
    IP addess is set
    domain is set
    I am using Port 80
Realm authorization is set to "Basic"
    Performance Cache is on
I DO NOT have the following on or active:
    SSL
    SSI
I am sure I am missing something else.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Open the terminal window in the iMac and enter the following command:
    traceroute \[domain name here\]
That will trace the route from your computer to their site and you will be able to see where it stops. There are a number of things that might cause this kind of problem:
    1. The website is down
    2. There's a network problem between your ISP and them
    3. They are blocking your IP address or your ISP for some reason
    4. Content filtering or the firewall in your router is blocking the website

  • Unable to Access Web Site (with same name) outside of Local Network

    Hi everyone,
I have my web site (and some other services) hosted outside of my network by my hosting provider, but handle all other items using OS X Server on my network (i.e. Wiki and so forth).
The problem is now that I am unable to access my website at www.mydomain.com from within the network. I have external DNS set up for www.mydomain.com to point to my website, while mydomain.com points to my OS X Server (static IP address). Internally in OS X Server's DNS settings this used to work when I had www.mydomain.com resolving to the IP address of my web host, in addition to the default domain settings that OS X had set up. For some reason this is no longer working, and I am unable to figure out why.
Using latest version of OS X Server 3.0.2.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Update: this ended up being a redirect issue on the web host. I added another subdomain that was hosted externally, and it worked fine. For some reason my web host is redirecting www.mydomain.com to domain.com.

I am in Texas and cannot get to that site either. Do you know for sure the site is up and working? It could just be down (for days, a site I support was down for almost 4 full days a few weeks ago due to a virus problem).
This may (again, may) be your problem: I see you have a173.48.x.x (you really should x-out the last two octets of your IP address for privacy reasons), I am on a 173.74.x.x address; I know some people have had problems with getting to some sites now that they have a 173.x.x.x address. I think Verizon obtained addresses in that range and some of the addresses apparently previously belonged to spammers or some malicious folks. Some sites (web sites, intermeidate routers, etc.) blocked those addresses, and may not have updated their filters to remove the block on those addresses because they don't know that Verizon now owns them. If this is the problem, eventually those filters will get updated and you will be able to access the site, but this could be a fairly long time.
If you know how to contact that site I suggest you email them about the problem. You can also try turning off your router overnight and when you turn it back on the next day you may find that you have a different address (one that doesn't start with 173) that will allow you to get to the site.
I don't think there is much Verizon can do to help, it is not their site that is blocking your address (at least I don't think it is).
    Hope this helps.

  • Can't access some sites over WIFI (app store and more)

    HI,
Not sure really where I can post this, but hoping someone will have a lead as it's very frustrating.
I have a belkin N router, and for some reason over wifi some sites do not work. I cannot access the Appstore on 2 iphones, I get error message that can't connect. the weird thing is that my ipad has never had problems with this and always connects to app store without problems.
I tried resetting my router and disabling security, still doesn't help.
I'm at a lost, any help greatly appreciated.
Latest firmware installed. iPhone 4 and 5 have the probelm as does my MBP which has problems connecting to some sites.

Try resetting Safari, safari under safari menu, empty Chache. Safari preferences>privacy, remove all website data.  Also safari prefernces>security>unclick enable Java, leave Java script clikced. You can have corrupted cookies(they will re-create) Hope this helps.

  • Cannot access some sites in either Firefox or Safari

I'm not sure when this began, but last month I tried to go to Ebay in both Safari and and Firefox and neither would find the site.
    Here's what I'm using:
    MacPro Desktop 2 x 2.8GHz, Quad-core Intel Xeon
    8GB memory
    Snow Leopard 10.6.8
My network is set to 'Automatic' Using DHCP
I have a FIOS router and have no firewall or security setting on my Mac
I tried to get to Ebay using a proxy on the same computer and it went to the site. I tried also on my laptop that uses Leopard and the same FIOS router and was able to get the the Ebay site. I go to many sites including email, just fine on my desktop MacPro. A few sites will access some times and other times won't. Ebay never accesses on my MacPro, so this seems to be my test site.
I'm guessing something got changed in my network setting with an upgrade, but not sure what to change under network settings.
Anyone had a similar problem, or know what I need to do?

    ghi2 wrote:
Thanks, I am my own profesional as I've owned Mac since the Plus. It is probably the Mac as the router also feeds my other computers and they work fine. I just put in Google DNS 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4 and it seems to be working okay, but I guess the Trojan can proably attck these too. Is there a virus app for these trojans?
Let me start by saying that I doubt that either of the following possibilities are what you are suffering, but mention them just in case. I would expect to see you suffering several other symptoms associated with them.
I can't figure out how the DNSChanger Trojan is able to do anything now as the perpatrators are behind bars awaiting extradition and the FBI is operating their servers as normal DNS's for at least another week and possibly until July. Never-the-less, I have seen a very few confirmed cases here in the forum. The fastest way to find out is to go to http://dns-ok.us/ and look for green. If it's red open the FBI document linked for the fix. MacScan did provide a fix for this, but I'm not certain that it removed all versions. I've recently read that one version actually changed the router settings as opposed to your Mac, so you might want to double-check there, as well.
But there is another possibility. One user who was infected on Feb 22nd with the Flashback.G or higher Trojan reported Google redirects associated with it. Iomega has yet to confirm this, but they have been working with that individual and may be in a position to confirm something shortly. To check for this malware open the Terminal app (in /Applications/Utilities/) then copy and paste "defaults read ~/.MacOSX/environment" without the quotes, hit return and if you see something about "DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES" then you are infected. Paste the results here for instructions. If it doesn't find the file or says something else, then that isn't your problem.
The MacScan's "Spyware" application is still alive and well. They just updated their definitions yesterday for what they are calling Flashback Trojan 3.0, so it may be capable of finding the latest of these, but I'm not certain. MacScan does have a reputation of sounding "False Alarms", so don't panic and start deleting things without confirmation.

  • Unable to access certain sites

Since early yesterday morning I have been unable to access several internet sites, including, for example, LastPass.com.  No hardware, software or settings were changed.  I can access these sites on my iPhone with Verizon wireless and today I was able to access all of them from work (with a non-Verizon Fios ISP).  Again, it is multiple sites that I simply cannot access which is causing problems.  For example, in addition to not being able to use LastPass, my Evernote account will not sync.
    I have tried the following:
    (1) Deleting temporary internet files, cookies, etc. and flushing the dns;
    (2) Rebooting my router mutliple times;
    (3) Turning off my firewall (even though nothing has been changed...); and
    (4) Spending an hour with Fios technical support which, after completely resetting my router, resulted in nothing except the rep offering to sell me premium suppport service...
I have heard of Verizon sometimes fighting with certain other providers or pipeline providers (?), where access can be temporarily limited.  Since this problem is affecting my computer (wired to the router), as well as all the other (wireless) devices in my house, I really need to find a solution as soon as possible.
Any suggestions?  Does anyone understand how provider/pipeline disputes my disrupt access to just certain sites?  Any way to verify that?

Glad to try to help... There are a few suggestions here http://www.makeuseof.com/answers/dns-error-sites-open-fine-pcs/ . I would try changing your DNS server on the router ... This procedure http://www.verizon.com/support/residential/internet/fiosinternet/troubleshooting/network/questionson...  will get you to the correct screen BUT use 8.8.8.8 for Primary DNS server, and 8.8.4.4  as secondary

The county ftp site doesn't act strangely for me.
I'm not sure whether these general suggestions are applicable to ftp sites, but just in case:
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

  • Can't access some sites on DSL - Westell 37W or Verizon connection issue?

I've been experiencing a problem with Verizon's DSL service for the last few days. I have a brand new Dell Dimension with Windows XP hooked up a Westell 327W router (hard - wired) and other laptops running both Vista and XP. All of a sudden, all the users on the same network can't access certain sites. I initially uninstalled AVG on my computer thinking that may have something to do with blocking these websites (aa.com, orbitz.com), and then I realized that some of the laptops don't have any anti-virus programs and still have the same problem. The only thing in common is that they run on the same network off of the same router. Which is when I called Verizon, only to hear from them that they don't block websites, and that the problem is something related to the computer. When I tried explaining that other users also have the same problem (and it is only within the last 5 days), they still won't accept that something is wrong with the router/DSL connection. I checked the firewall settings for the router and they are turned off. Can someone please help me? Am I wrong in assuming that the problem is on Verizon's side?

I appear to be having the same problem (erratic browser connections) as you guys. I was speaking with a tech support person last night who after having me replace Internet Explorer with Firefox (and still having the same issues) told me that the problem was with my computer. I reside in North Jersey as well. This morning, while riding to work I was speaking with a bus-mate and told him about my internet problem. He lives a few blocks away and told me that he has been experiencing the same thing for about a week and that he knows of another person with the same issue. So it appears to me that it’s some sort of Verizon problem. I tried to recap things and send them an e:mail a little earlier, but I think it fell on deaf eyes. I will try to call them later this evening and will report back to this forum tomorrow.

But when users try to access the new site, they are prompted to request access.
Some users are in AD groups, that are in SharePoint groups, and some users are direct members of SharePoint groups.  So far it seems to be groups with read or contribute access.  The owners seem to be able to access the site fine.
    This makes no since...?
    Any ideas?

Thanks, I think I may have found the issue...  But it still odd, and I am still verifying if it is in fact the issue.
The old site has a visitors group, that contains an AD security group.... But that AD security group contains a DL.  I know that's a problem... But it should also be a problem in the source site. (but its not)
Only thing I can imagine is that at some point the user had direct access, and it was changed to AD group.  And then AD group was changed, and somehow SharePoint just didn't catch on.... (just a guess)
In any case, I am having the users added to the AD security group to see if that works.
But I will check out your script if that doesn't work.
    Thanks!

  • Unable to access FTP Site via internet

    Hello All,
Here is a problem that I'm facing accessing my home deployed FTP Server on Windows 2008 Server via internet. Below is the description of setup at my home.
    1. I've a private network behind D-link DSL 2750U router.
    2. I've forwarded Port 21 to my FTP Server in private network (FTP Server IP: 192.168.1.2)
    3. FTP Site is deployed in IIS 7.5 with Anonymous access rights (so obviously no username and password is required to access it).
    4. In IIS 7.5, FTP Site binding is set as "
    5. I'm able to access my ftp site within private network (via command prompt and any browser).
    6. I've registered a domain name ftp.tx-fr.tk for my FTP site so that I can use it from outside world and here are settings.
    7. I'm able to ping this (ftp.tx-fr.tk ) domain name.
    8. All firewalls are disabled for testing purpose (Will implement security later, once primary issue resolves).
Now here is the problem, whenever I type in ftp://ftp.tx-fr.tk in my browsers,
IE 9 and Chrome prompts for username and password, whereas Mozilla throws a message as "421 Login Incorrect".
Same happens when I use command prompt to access the FTP site using domain name.
Here is the funny part, when I'm prompted for username password, I typed in router's credentials (U:admin, P:admin) and I get
"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" in IE 9, "421 Login Incorrect" in Mozilla.
Whereas when CMD is used to access the site, I'm able to log in using router's credential but none of the command executes
Now is there anyone who can assist me resolving this case?
    Kind regards,
    Aniruddha

I would have ask in IIS forums: http://forums.iis.net/
    Thanks
