  • Access Denied to Site Collection for Everyone Including Site Collection Administrator

I have a site collection with several subsites which I can no longer access.  I am listed as both a farm administrator and site collection administrator in this installation.  I can access a separate site collection on the same web application,
and I can access the Central Administration site.  All accounts including mine, get an access denied error when navigating to any site on the aformentioned site collection.
I was not having any access issues until this morning when I was doing some housekeeping and changing group membership at the root site level, and also deleting a few custom sharepoint groups that were no longer needed.  At some point after deleting
one of these custom groups, I began getting the access denied errors.
I found the error below in the uls viewer, but haven't seen anything that looks related in the windows application log.  I had some similar issues yesterday, but was able to resolve them by toggling Inherit Permissions, Stop Inheriting permissions from
a subsite using SharePoint Designer.  I've had no such luck with SharePoint Designer today.  I've scoured this forum and the web for a solution, but have not found any issue that looked the same as mine.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • Sharepoint Online Can not edit anything in Sharepoint designer as Site collection administrator

    Dear all,
I am using sharepoint online and sharepoint designer 2013. Things were working fine but one day it suddenly stopped working. I have assigned site collection administrator to several accounts and I tried on different computers. I can not edit anything in
sharepoint designer 2013. Can not edit workflows, can not edit lists. Everything seems to be bugging out. I have reinstalled sharepoint designer and tried on different computers, all of them behave the same. I checked on all accounts I assigned site collection
admin to, they all have full control over everything. I can edit lists on the sharepoint site with no problem. Anyone knows what's going on?
I also created another blank site, same thing happens.
    -Timothy

Are you able to edit site in IE?
    Try below:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/namkh/archive/2013/04/18/quot-the-web-site-has-been-configured-to-disallow-editing-with-sharepoint-designer-quot.aspx
One straight forward way of doing it is from the UI (Which did not work in my case though :(  )
      1.  Right-click the ONET.XML file ( at \Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\TEMPLATE\SiteTemplates\<var><Service></var>\xml) for the site definition and open it with Notepad
If you see “DisableWebDesignFeatures=wdfopensite” section in the one.xml that means your site has been configured to disallow SharePoint designer.
You can remove this section from the file and should be able to access the site in designer now
    2.   If you are unable to get rid of “DisableWebDesignFeatures=wdfopensite” or find the correct onet.xml corresponding to your site definition, here is a simple script I put together to see if Designer is disabled on the site using the property
vti_disablewebdesignfeatures2 and update it as required.

  • Calendar Server - Unable to add users

When I try to add users to a node I get an error message like:
    Working please wait...
unidsattach failed, see /users/unison/log/unidsattach.log, Error Code =
    0x13205
Add user [uid=ttesting,o=Airius.com] to node: failed
    Add user(s) to node completed.
    <P>
This means that the Calendar Server is unable to communicate
properly with the Directory Server. There are some Calendar-specific
entries and an ACI that are added to the Directory Server when a node is
created. These are critical to the proper functioning of the Calendar
Server. This error may mean that they are missing.
    <P>
You can also check the access log file of the Directory server to see what
the problem may be. If you see entries like:
    [27/Jan/1999:07:39:47 -0500] conn=1 op=2 SRCH base="o=Airius.com" scope=2 filter="(nsc
    alxitemid=15000:00001)"
    [27/Jan/1999:07:39:47 -0500] conn=1 op=2 RESULT err=0 tag=101 nentries=0
This indicates that 0 entries were returned for the search on the SYSOP
    Calendar user.
    <P>
If you have recently imported data into your Directory Server, it is likely
that these entries no longer exist. An import to a Directory Server does
not append data; it replaces the current directory with the data in the
LDIF file being loaded. You will need to recreate this Calendar information.
Export your directory to an LDIF file and review the output to see if these
    entries exist.
    <P>
Here is a boilerplate that may be useful if you don't have a backup copy
of the original LDIF. Try replacing the baseDN (o=Airius.com) and the node
id (15000) to match your Calendar configuration. The password is "password".
The following is for illustration purposes and may not fix all problems:
    aci: (target ="ldap:///o=Airius.com")(targetattr = "*")(version 3.0
    ; acl "Untitled"; allow (write, add , delete ) groupdn = "ldap:///cn=Cal-A

  • File Sharing - External Drive - Unable to add user

    Hello,
I am trying to share a folder within an external firewire drive. However, when in the "File Sharing" section, I am unable to add users after adding the folder to the "Shared Folders:". The add user dialog appears, but when a user is selected and the "Select" button is clicked, the user does not appear in "Users:".
The external drive is formatted "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" with an Apple Partition Map.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

try adding this user from finder rather than fro system preferences. select this folder in finder and enter command+i. in the resulting popup go to the permissions section and add the user you want.

  • People Picker in Central Administration on change Site Collection Administrator page.

    Hi there
We are coming to the end of our rope here.
We have a problem where the people picker is not working in Central Administration, particularly the change Site Collection administrator page. It simply does nothing but hang the page, it doesn't even give the red squigglies. The search dialogue boxes also
hangs. It works in other parts of Central Administration.
The environment has 2 domains with one way trust between them and the peoplepicker-searchadforest attribute is set.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi Chad,
Did this issue only happen to the "_admin/owners.aspx" page for your Central Administration site?
Please compare the peoplepicker-searchadforest attribute for your Central Administration web applicaiton with other working web application, see if they are the same ( iisreset may need for your Central Administration ).
    Also check
ULS log for more related error message (also try others may like "developer dashboard","fiddler", ect.) recoreded when this issue occurs.

  • Integrating UCCX with Presence - Unable to Add Users to Contacts List

    Hi,
I'm trying to integrate UCCX with Presence via the Desktop Administrator. I have created an enduser (LDAP Sync) and assigned the user a Service Profile which includes the Directory UC Service for LDAP, have tried both LDAP and GC configuration.
I can make the connection the Presence Cluster, validation works. However I'm hitting the "CDAUI2067 Search did not complete successfully, and only partial results are displayed. Contact technical support." When trying to add users to the Contact List. Seems like the BUG ID CSCtg94342? However there is no reference to this bug id for UCCX 10.0 only 7.1
Has anyone successfully integrated UCCX 10 with IMP10? If so, please advise the UC Service/Profile configuration for the End User.
    Thanks
    Ben

    Hi Ben,
when configured Client type CAD, I didn't uncheck Version Check Required.
Now I can complete configuration in Cisco Desktop Administration, but when I try to login with CAD client I cannot login to the Presence server - the following message appears:
"An error has occurred communicating with the Cisco Unified Presence Service.
The application will automatically continue attempting to connect."
In log file I found the following "2014-12-05 09:24:23:450 ERROR STD2001 Client <SawConnectionManager> failed to connect to any service." instead of eg. "INFO STD2004 Client <SawConnectionManager> connected to service at <cup1.dcloud.cisco.com>."
Does anybody have any idea what could be the problem?

    Hi Abhik,
Have you verified that your Netweaver BPC (ABAP) component, .NET component, and client component are all on the same support package level? It sounds like your .NET/Web server might be on a different level than the ABAP component.

    Hi
I had exactly the same error and managed to get rid of it by deinstalling and reinstalling the client and the server with the patch (2083057) from metalink (I had previously used this patch for upgrade). There was no problem with user creation.
However, I get the same error when I try to do anything with the repository, such as, create an object. So, this is really of no help. Sorry.
Have you managed to get the installation going????
Is there anyone who has Designer 6i functioning (even partially) with Oracle 9i on a windows platform, or for that matter any platform??

  • Unable to add font back to collection after removed from collection

I installed Adobe's Source Sans Pro font (free software), and today I found that there is a newer version, so I think I need to remove this font and install the newer version again.
I first remove it from my custom font collection called "Modern", and I found that I was wrong -- I have to find it in "All Fonts". So I removed it from All Fonts again.
Then I install the new version of Source Sans Pro. It is installed without warning.
Then I drag the installed font from All Fonts to Modern collection. But after that, there is no Source Sans Pro in Modern collection.
I tried to remove it from All Fonts, and install again by dragging it from Finder to Modern collection. It is then can be found in All Fonts, but still not in Modern collection.
I then tried another font called PT Sans. I first drag it from All Fonts to Modern collection, then remove it from Modern collection. When I drag it from All Fonts to Modern collection again, it is not actually being added to Modern collection.
So I can reproduce this problem with other fonts, not specific to Source Sans Pro.
I know there is a workaround: create a new collection, drag all fonts from Modern to the new collection, drag Source Sans Pro to new collection, remove the old Modern collection, and finally rename the new collection to Modern. But this is annoying.
Now I think this is a bug. Does anyone have this issue too?

    Hi,
I had sam problem and resolved it by doing clean install of OVM Server v3.2.1 on that server. After that, I successfully added OVM server to my pool. :/

  • SCCM 2012 Security to allow users to add resource to a collection

    Hi,
I need to permission IT Support staff so they are able to add computers to certain collections in SCCM 2012. I created a new Role and assigned the following permissions under "Collection"
Read, Modify, Modify Resource, delete resource, read resource, Modify Collection setting, read AMT.
Also allowed read at site level.
Users are still unable to add computers to a collection ? Any ideas why ?
I did read a previous post which said something about also having to permission users to the limiting collection but this doesnt make sense, and sounds insecure.
    Thanks

Here is a solution that should work for you. Perform this on a test account with only the security role you are going to change for your users in question.
Create a new collection that is a copy of your collection limiting collection mentioned above.
Set the limiting collection of this new collection to something other than the limiting collection it defaults to, which is the copied collection.
Select the collections to which you wish to grant Add Resource permissions to and set their limiting collection to this new collection.
Within your Administrative user or group properties, specify this new limiting collection and the collections you wish to allow Add Resource permissions under the "Associate assigned security roles with specific security scopes and collections - don't forget
    to add your security scope.
Apply the changes and test - don't forget to restart the console of your test account.
This does a couple things - it allows the Add Resource function to the specific collections you wish for the specific Administrative user/group you wish.  It does NOT allow modify on the limiting collection. And it separates the specific collections
you tag as being modifiable by the specified group.
We had the same issue in our environment - need a specific group to be able to Add Resource to a single specific collection which was being limited by the All Workstations collection.  Allowing modify to the All Workstations collection allowed modifications
to any collection limited by All Workstations. So I came up with the solution above, tested against my test accounts and it works as I needed.
Hopefully this will solve your issue and give you some options going forward.

  • Granting permissions to manage my sites site collections and user profiles

We currently have no governance in place to deal with user profiles and my site site collections.
So the farm has quite a large number of both profiles and site collections which are orphaned. We do not currently run the timer job that deletes my site site
I have a few questions about handling this kind of thing.
    1. We have administrative staff who handle the "off boarding" process. They send out mail to people asking whether project folders continue to be needed, etc. and give project members a month to make copies of the important info. Right now, there
are a few of these staff which have site collection admin rights on normal projects.
Is there a way that a powershell script could be constructed to give them the ability to delete obsolete user profiles and site collections without giving them full farm admin rights?
    2. Is there a way to set up an AD or SharePoint group and then use that group as a secondary site collection admin on the my site site collections?
    3. With appropriate permissions, would they be able to grant someone else permission to look at data in the my site collection to determine whether any of it needed to be kept?
I have been requested as a sharepoint admin to work with the offboarding process staff so that they include the sharepoint my site data in the data that they recommend people check before deleting the data.
I would like to automate as much of the dealings they have to have with the system as possible, just to reduce unrelated accidental actions.

    2. Is there a way to set up an AD or SharePoint group and then use that group as a secondary site collection admin on the my site site collections?
Inder: NO, it has to be a user. But you can go to site action > site settings > site collection administrator > Add that group here.
    3. With appropriate permissions, would they be able to grant someone else permission to look at data in the my site collection to determine whether any of it needed to be kept?
    Inder:  Yes

  • Recycle bin to show all deleted items on the site collection for specific user group

hi there, is there any way where a certain sharepoint group (i.e. site collection members) to view and restore deleted items on theentire collection, without giving them site collection rights orgive them more rights than necessary? we wanted to create
aSP group that has the permission to restore deleted items and give them to selected users so that our users won't have to contact us when they want to restore a deleted item

I don't believe you can. If an item get's deleted it should go to the first recycle bin @ /_layouts/15/RecycleBin.aspx
The Recycle Bin gives a site collection administrator
greater control when users delete files, versions of files, list items, libraries, lists, and folders from a SharePoint site by providing a second stage safety net before an item is permanently deleted from a site. When a user deletes an item from the Recycle
Bin, the item is sent to a second stage Recycle Bin (also known as the Site Collection Recycle Bin) that the site collection administrator manages. This article focuses on how a site collection administrator can manage the Recycle Bin for a site collection.

  • Access denied for all (most?) users in all site collections of web app

    Hi,
I have a Sharepoint 2010 farm pre-SP1 (yes should be updated!) and for all site collections of a web app, all users are getting access denied.
Now in my title I said "most?" because I have found one user in another office who does not have this issue. This web app/site collections also do not go through f5 or any proxies.
Even if I add myself as a site collection admin via central admin, I get the same result. I've looked at everything, windows time on the server (not using kerberos), errors in event log (nothing), uls logs just say access denied (very helpful!), etc...
I can try what's suggested at http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/e66f1b09-605d-4546-a581-2a9283c238c0/access-denied-for-all-users-and-for-site-collections-owner?forum=sharepointgeneralprevious but when asking colleagues, there's been no
changes, let alone with those accounts? I can do a get on the property tomorrow to find if there is a value set first, however.
    Any suggestions on this?

    Hi,
Please try logging in the site with farm account.
If it works, please make sure you have superuser and superreader accounts in CA > Application management > web application policy. If not, please add both accounts with the powershell script in the article below, this can cause all users denied when
    access the site:
