Unable to communicate to Admin server on remote machine

I'm trying to add a server in CF  builder but am getting the following error, I'm pretty sure I've entered everything inclusing the naming port correct in correctly:
Unable to communicate to Admin server on remote machine. Ensure the Admin server is running and correct JNDI port is provided
Any advice friends?

It was but it shouldn't affect Sync users.
I will ask you to try again in a couple of hours. Are you trying to set it up or access your data?

  • Unable to connect to Admin Server from second machine using WLST

    Hello,
    PROBLEM
Can't get WLST to connect to admin server from 2nd host to register the domain.
    SETUP
I have 2 Centos VMs running on Oracle Virtual box in a single laptop. Both the VMs use "Bridged Networking".
    VM-1 CONFIG
    cat /etc/hosts
    192.168.1.17
    dom1 dom1.my mac1
    192.168.1.51
    centos2 mac2
VM-1 hosts admin server & one managed server
    VM-2 CONFIG
    192.168.1.51
    mac2
    192.168.1.17
    centos1 mac1
VM-2 hosts just one managed server
I can start up admin on VM-1 fine. The node manager is reachable too. Both the VMs are can be pinged from each other. I can also telnet to the admin server's port ( telnet 192.168.1.17 7001) from the second server.
My HOST OS is Windows 7. I can ping from windows to both the VM IPs too. The reverse is working fine as well.
I've tried both mechanisms of copying the whole domain from machine 1 over to machine2 & also using the pack.sh/unpack.sh combinations to transfer the domains.
When I invoke WLST, this is what happens
    ./wlst.sh

    Kind Regards

    Hi Raj,
Issue is with NM registry with domain home. Please follow the below steps and let us know the status.
1 . Check whether the node manager port ( default 5556 ) is opened for communication on both Admin and Managed server.
2 . After opening the port - We would need to enroll the node manager home with domain home to establish the communication between Admin and Managed server.
a .  Start the Administration Server.
b .  Using the Administration Console update the Node Manager credentials from the Advanced options under domain_nameArrow symbolSecurityArrow symbolGeneral.
c .  Invoke WLST and connect to an Administration Server using the connect command. See Using the WebLogic Scripting Tool in WebLogic Scripting Tool.
d .  Run nmEnroll using the following syntax:
            nmEnroll([domainDir], [nmHome])
Running nmEnroll() ensures that the correct Node Manager user and password token are supplied to each Managed Server. Once these are available for each Managed Server, you can use nmConnect() in a production environment.
Note:     You must run nmEnroll() on each machine that is running a Managed Server. Additionally, you should run nmEnroll() for each domain directory on each machine.
For more info : General Node Manager Configuration
    Thanks

  • Custom Item updating throws Unable to Communicate with the server Error.

    Hi Team,
I am trying to Implement Form based authentication in SharePoint 2013. When trying to update membership list (A Custom List) item it throws "Unable to Communicate with the Server" error. As shown in below image.
Please let  me know how to resolve this issue.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Murali,
I'm having a similiar problem with one of my customers. We haven't been able to resolve it but we have found a way around it, I'd like to do more testing but my customer justs wants to get on with it now that we have a workaround. Logging a call with Microsoft
can be expensive, most businesses have a finite amount of support hours so you really have to do your homework before you starting chewing those hours up.
    Problem Description:
Customer created a custom list with two calculated columns and various choice, string and multi-string columns. Customer was attempting to copy and paste 128 rows of data into each column from a spreadsheet. The first (title) column successfully pasted
    128 values.
Subsequent columns would paste the values but not allow the values to be committed as every row displayed the "Unable to Communicate with the Server" message, preventing the list from being saved.
    Workaround:
The problem appears to be related to the number of items the customer is trying to paste during each operation and the relationship this has with the calculated columns. We found that when we pasted 70 or less items in one operation we did not receive the
error. I attempted pasting 128 rows of data into a seperate list with the same columns excluding the calculated columns, and was successfully able to paste all 128 rows.
For the problem list I suggested to the customer to copy the formula's from the calculated columns, delete these columns and then trying pasting again, he didn't like the idea as he's happy to paste in 50% chunks. Based on the fact I was able to paste
without any problems on a list without calculated columns I would suggest it's related.
So my questions for you are:
Are you trying to paste/add multiple values at once?
Do you have any special column types, i.e. calculated or lookup columns?
What columns do you have in your list?
Have you tried adding the entries in using form entry instead of grid entry?
Unforunately I don't know how generic this error message is, there is absolutely nothing in my ULS logs or event viewer. If this error is specific to submitting data to a list in grid view it would make it easier to diagnose, but if the error is generic
in nature your problem could be as obscure as the FBA configuration.
I hope this information helps you, I will try and do some more testing.

  • Unable to connect to WMI (r) on remote machine "SCCMCLIENT03"

    Hi!
I'm in the process of configuring the XP firewall to support the Client Push installation method that SCCM offers. At the moment I'm quite happy with the result. The SCCM client agents are installed properly on my reference machines.
To secure that the WMI functionality is up and running I have (prior to the client agent installation) run wbemtest with following parameter (from server to client, and vice versa):
    \\host\root\cimv2
I successfully contacted that specific namespace on both ends. But when I trace the log I find the following error which still indicates that something is wrong:
    CWmi::Connect(): ConnectServer(Namespace) failed. - 0x8004100e SMS_CLIENT_CONFIG_MANAGER 2009-03-10 11:12:14 1704 (0x06A8)

Why do I get this? What am I missing here? I got the feeling of WMI functioning the way it should.
    Any hints on this one?
In an MSDN-article (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa389286(VS.85).aspx) I read the following lines:
"If the user account that is on Computer A is not an administrator on Computer B, but the user account has Remote Enable permission on Computer B"
Those lines are part of an article which describes how to configure Remote administrations properly. For that to work, does the computer account of my Central Site Server has to be part of the local administrators group on every client?

    Fredrik

  • OSB 10gR3 - Starting Managed server on remote machine

    I have 2 Windows 2003 Enterprise machines.
I have OSB 10gR3 installed on both with Node Manager running on default port, on both.
I create the servicebustutorial domain and start the admin server on the first machine.
On the second machine, I use the WLST to
<ul><li>connect('weblogic','password','t3://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:7001') # connect to admin server on first machine
    </li>
<li>nmEnroll('c:/bea/wlserver_10.3/common/nodemanager') # make node manager visible
    </li>
    <li>nmEnroll('c:/bea/user_projects/domains/servicebustutorial') # enroll in the servicebustutorial</li>
    </ul>
Now, I don't know if this is the correct thing to do.
Back on the first machine, I create a new machine to represent the second Windows box.
I can see the node manager on the second machine using the machine monitoring page.
I then create a new server that is assigned to the new machine.
I can attempt to start the new server on the second machine.
The Server directory appears in the servers directory on the second windows box.
Log files appear on the second box but the config.xml is not there, and thus, the server fails to start.
I would have thought that the server config would have propogated from the admin server, is this a wrong assumption?
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks, in advance.
    ...Lyall

    Thanks for replying.
I login as a local administrator on the machine that WebLogic runs. All operations are performed using that login (starting admin server, starting node manager).
I changed permissions on C:\BEA, all the way down, localadmin group has full control, everywhere.
I tried changing nodemanager C:\bea\wlserver_10.3\common\nodemanager\nodemanager.properties LogLevel to DEBUG but then NodeManager refuses to start, so I returned it back to INFO.
I set debug on the Managed Server I am trying to setup, as you suggested.
I even updated the NodeManager and Server boot.properties files to be cleartext and Deleted the LDAP directory within the Managed Server (as I assume it's re-created if it does not exist)

  • Restarting a failed admin server on another machine with different IP

    Hi,
I'm trying to restart a failed admin server on another machine with different IP on Weblogic Server 10gR3. After copying the domain config to another server, the admin server can be started without any problem, but it cannot contact the managed server until the managed server is rebooted.
The behavior contradicts the documentation, http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12840_01/wls/docs103/server_start/failures.html#wp1064112, that says Running MSs will learn the new AS address when they are contacted by the AS after it has been started. It does not mention the managed servers need to be rebooted.
did I do anything wrong? Your help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks a lot,
    Andreas

    Hi,
What ever you said is true. If the IP Address of Admin Server is changed, then Managed Server must connect to Admin Server after "ReconnectIntervalSecs" . If the IP address is not moved then Admin Server Should contact Managed Server automatically.
Can you provide details steps you had performed, so that we can identify the root cause of the issue.
    Thanks.

  • Cannot expand IDM cluster due to unable to connect to Admin Server

    Hi everyone.
When I was configuring HA on IDM node2 for ODS managed server and ASinstance, I met the strange situation:
    - I choose expand cluster on IDM configuration wizard windows (oim_11.1.1.7.0)
    - I entered the admin server address, port, username, password, all of them is correct because I tested them on all nodes and from my remote laptop
    - when I hit the Next button, that error occured:
INST-07242 Unable to connect to Oracle Weblogic Middleware Administration Server
Make sure Oracle Administration Server is up and hostname, port, user name and administration password are correct.
I don't know what the reason of that error. On the Metalink I watch the doc ID:1324425.1 but the solutions mentioned to earlier verions than mine. So that I cannot apply that solutions.
Have you got any idea ?
    Thank in advance.

    Hi hrushi,
i'm not refering to the Weblogic console but your physical server console. You already did most of the tasks.
    Please do the steps below:
    1) Logon to your server Solaris console
    2) Get the PID of your Admin server Java process ex: ps -ef | grep java
    3) Execute the following command: kill -3 <pid>
    4) This will generate a Thread Dump within your Admin server startup log (normally nohup.out)
    5) Extract the Thread Dump and look at the Thread Stack Trace of the Weblogic start-up Thread
    6) The thread name you are looking or is: "Main Thread"
    7) Update this post with Stack Trace of the "Main Thread"

  • Pls Assist -- AIA Installer Unable to Detect Weblogic Admin Server

    Hi Everyone.
I am trying to install AIA foundation pack 11.1.1.6.0 and is encountering an error at step 4. Error says the installer cannot connect to the server.
I can confirm that the SOA admin server and managed server could be started using my node manager (nmStart()). Node manager is reachable. The installation log does not show any error.
Would you be able to advise the workaround for this one? I am running on a 64-bit RHEL 6.3.
do tell if you require more details and i will be happy to provide them to you.
    Thank you in advance!

Ensure that the listen address is updated for the servers. After updating bounce the domain completly and start the installation again.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi Raj,
Which version of weblogic are you using? Try to delete the cache directory of the managed server and try to restart it again and see if the problem goes away.
From Weblogic 9 version onwards by default when Managed server starts for the first time it will read boot.properties file inside domain directory and makes a copy of it inside its cache directory domain/servers/ManagedServername/Security folder. I think boot.properties file inside cache directory of managed server might be using old credentials.
The best way is to delete cache directory of managed server inside domain/servers you will see directory by managed server name, delete it and restart the managed server.
    Hope this helps!!

  • How to create managed server in remote machine ?

    Hi,
I have a cluster. It has 2 managed servers
one managed server runs on machine A
I want to run another managed server on machine B
    How do i do that.
I have weblogic installed on both machines A and B
    Problem:
a.) how to create domain in machine B ? should i use pack/unpack commands or can i create a new domain from scratch in the machine B ?
Machine A has the domain directory created. Machine A also has admin server
b.) if i create a domian from scratch in machine B, then how does synchroniziation happens ?
say in machine A ( initially where the domain is created ). I add some entries in setDomainenv.sh, how will it reflect in machine B ?
    Regards,
    Harsha

There are many ways to achieve this, this is one of the method that might help you get started...

  • How to enable Integration server on remote machine setup

    Hi All,
    My probelm is this as per my scenario;
    -I am using two machines.
-One I configured with Weblogic8.1 Platform and using Admin Server.
-Second I configured only Integration Platform and wanna to use Integration Server.
SO, after all this I have started my Admin server and managed(Integration) server.
-Then I deployed the one of Integration.ear file on my configured managed server,
it goes success. Then I started Integration console through the Admin Server URL.
Now my problem is this that when i am having Integration console there in a console
am not able to see the deployed files or processes or any thing over there in
integration console that shows that integration is running.
Can any one help me in this regard. I do appreciate this.
    Sameer.

    Hi Greg,
    Thank's for your advices.
Greg One thing i am not getting that is we are if we are having different platforms(i.e
Integration , Portal and Simple Application) running on different machines but
all machines are configured under one domain and everything you are managing through
one Admin Server which is also running on different machine. SO, if you are deploying
application that has to deploy on Admin Server!!!! OR to the concerned Server?

If these machines are in one domain (cluster) you should deploy to the
    admin server.
I believe the admin server deploys copies of the .ear files to the managed
    server(s).
I am not positive about Integration running on only the managed server.
    You
would have to seek advise if WLI should run on admin and managed servers?

  • Unable to connect via BCP on a remote machine

Hi, Hoping for some help - probably really basic question!
I've been using BCP for a while now to import data to a table, where the script is on the same machine as the database.
What I'm trying to do now is load data into a table on the same DB, but trigger the BCP command from a different machine.
    BCP TeamSandBox.dbo.Adhoc_List in D:\Import\Adhoc_List.txt -t, -f D:\Import\FormatFileAdhoc_list.fmt -T
This is my main BCP command, and works fine from the local machine, bit when triggered from a remote machine, I get this...
    SQLState = 28000, NativeError = 18456
    Error = [Microsoft][SQL Native Client][SQL Server]Login failed for user 'Domain\UID'.
    SQLState = 42000, NativeError = 4060
Error = [Microsoft][SQL Native Client][SQL Server]Cannot open database "TeamSandBox" requested by the login. The login failed.
The domain\account I'm using has full sysadmin access to the server, and db_owner to the database. Equally, running SQLCMD commands from the same remote machine also works just fine - including inserting into the same table.
Is there an access priviledge I'm missing out here?
    Thanks

You have missed the -S parameter to enter your servername/instancename and -d for database name. -d is not mandatory but is good to avoid confusion and to make sure you hit the correct database.
