Unable to connect to DSL wireless, could you walk me through?

Hi all,
I can connect wirelessly with
all public high speed wireless and my home wireless cable modem but at my sisters office they use DSL (yuck) and neither my MBP nor iPhone can connect, it just tries to load the browser forever.
Thanks a lot
bye

Hello Sig,
When I enter the password it seems to connect me as it states I am
connected. When I launch Safari it just sits blank attempting to load.
I even pinged the router and sent and received back 10 packets. Everything points to being coonected but in actuality I'm not because I cannot go online.
I can connect wirelessly anywhere else fine.
Thanks for responding and giving it a go for me.

  • Macbook air is unable to connect on hidden wireless network

    Dear users and support,
I have just bought my macbook air with lion os already installed, but I am unable to connect to hidden wireless network. Is there any trick to fix it? even though I am typing the name and password it's unable to login.
    Please advice.
    tks,

Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
Take all the applicable steps in this support article.
    Step 2
If you're running OS X 10.8.4 or later, run Wireless Diagnostics and take the remedial steps suggested in the summary that appears, if any. The program also generates a large file of information about your system, which would be used by Apple Engineering in case of a support incident. Don't post the contents here.
    Step 3
This step will erase all your settings in the Network preference pane. Make a note of them before you begin, and recreate them afterwards. It may be helpful to take screenshots of the preference pane.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "SystemConfiguration" selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Reset the System Management Controller.

I think you have to turn off Private Browsing.
Tap "Private" on Safari Screen to disable Private Browsing. When top of screen is white, Private Browsing is off.

  • Unable to connect to home wireless network with my iPod touch

I've had my iTouch for several months now and I'm still not able to connect to my wireless network at home. I've tried the resets and other suggestions I've found in the discussion groups but nothing has worked.
I have an older Netgear Router MR814v2 and it is unsecured. It is attached to my old desktop, HP Pavilion running Windows ME, which is not able to run the itunes software. My HP laptop is where my iTouch and iTunes software is installed.
The iTouch displays my network with good signal strength, but when I try to connect I get the "unable to join the network "NETGEAR".
Going to my router, it does not recognize my iTouch as an attached device. Why is that and what am I missing?
Thank you for all suggestions and your help.

I tried powering down the router. When it's off the iTouch does not recognize the network and then when it's powered on again, the iTouch recognizes the network. Unlike the public wi-fi spots that my iTouch responds to, where all the info like IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router, DNS etc are populated in the settings...my iTouch does not populate these fields at home even though it recognizes the network. I still get the unable to connect to network error. Could it be that my router is antiquated and can not support the iTouch? Like I said earlier, my Router does not recognize the iTouch as being attached to it.

  • Unable to connect with the wireless feature

I have the Linksys WRT54G version 8.0, it bridges with my DSL modem.  I have 3 wired desktops and 1 wireless laptop (which does not connect without wired connection).  According to the easylink advisor, we do not have an internet connection.  But I have internet connection as long as all 4 computers are wired in.  My problem now is we have a new ps3 and can not do the wireless connection.  I have checked all settings on router page and still shows no connection.  What am I doing wrong?  How do I fix this?  I can get on-line just can't use wireless.  Can anyone help?
    Thanks,
    Sharon

You need to do Port Forwarding on your Linksys Router...

    ip address :- 192.168.1.20, subnet mask :- 255.255.255.0, default gateway :- 192.168.1.1...
    8) Also assign the dns addresses on the PlayStation
    Primary dns :- 4.2.2.2...Secondary dns :- 192.168.1.1

  • Unable to connect to printer wirelessly

I have an Hp Officejet 7612
My computer is running Windows 7 64-bit with Service Pack 1
I am not able to connect to my printer wirelessly.
When trying to add printer, after selecting "Add network, wireless, or Bluetooth printer", my computer is not able to see printer while serching. I try to add printer manually by typing in IP address or hostname (either one), an error message occurs.
Printer wifi is on and connected to the same network as the computer.
I have restored network settings to default in order to try and fix issue.
I've tried this on a number of other computers, some running Windows 8.
I have disabled computer firewalls and computers still can't find printer.
It is as if the printer is...invisible!

    Hey @chriswalkenspal ,
Thank you for taking the time to post on the HP Forums today! Hope you enjoy the experience.
I understand you have your printer and computer connected to the same network and you are unable to connect your computer to your printer.
You say you are trying to add a printer, but have you installed the printer using the device driver CD or online driver  download tool ? If you haven't you need to do so and you won't have to add a printer because that is all done in the installation.
If you need the instructions on how to do so, let me know and I'll be more than happy to show you how to do download it.
Have a great day and let me know what else I can do for you.
    I worked for HP.

  • Unable to connect netgear DG834G wireless to macbook

    Hi
I am unable to connect the Netgear Router DG834G wireless to my Macbook. It works fine through the ethernet cable but when i try and connect wireless it says invalid password?

    Hi
Changing your ISP won't fix this problem.  There is one last thing that's worth a try....
    Creating a new "Location":
    System Preferences > Network
Select the AirPort from the left hand side
Click on the Locations combo box and select Edit Locations...
Click on + to add a new location, call it "Home" (or anything else you prefer)
    Click on Advanced
Select the AirPort tab and enter your network name
    Select TCP/IP tab.
    Configure IPv4 Using DHCP
Now click on Renew DHCP Lease.  After a few seconds you should get an IP address (probably 192.168.x.x)
    Click on Proxies tab.
Select Auto Proxy Discovery and Use Passive FTP
Click on OK and Apply, etc.
If this doesn't fix your problem then I suggest your Airport card is failing and you need to visit an Apple Store.

  • Unable to connect to internet wirelessly after Leopard uprgrade

Originally had Tiger. Able to connect fine to my dorm room. I have a D-Link router set up in my room as a wireless access point. When you want to connect, the university system redirects you to a university login page before you can go anywhere else. After the upgrade to Leopard, I can connect just fine to the router, but it won't redirect me to the login page and Network Connect always says I have a Self Assigned IP. What's weird is that I can connect just fine when I plug my computer directly into the ethernet port on the wall and even when I just connect directly to the router via ethernet cable. D-Link had no ideas and said "Call Apple, they won't tell us anything." It doesn't seem like a router problem. The guy would have told me if there was some new driver I needed. Seems like there's some sillyness going on with my airport card. Any ideas?

There's your problem. You're not seeing the DHCP server. The first thing I'd do would be to check what the gateway address is set for first on the Mac, then on the router. Typically a home/small office router, like a D-Link, will be set to pick up an IP on the WAN port (the port going out to the Internet) and to NAT away that IP so that those on the outside can't see into the local net. The local net will (usually) have DHCP handed out by the router, and will have a private network, typically a Class C 192.168.x.0 network, where 'x' is a number between 0 and 255, usually either 0 or 1. Typically the router itself will have the IP 192.168.x.1 on that private network, and will hand out IPs in the range 192.168.x.y where 'x' is as above and 'y' is between 2 and 254. (you can't use 0, that's the network, you can't use 1, that's the gateway, and you can't use 255, that's broadcast.) If DHCP is turned off at the router, and if the router isn't allowing DHCP from the school's net (or if the school doesn't do DHCP...) then your Mac will get an APIPA address, what you're seeing as a self-assigned IP. If the connection is down for any reason (bad antenna, bad channel, anything) your Mac won't see the DHCP server.
I'd plug in with an Ethernet cable and verify that the wireless component is on and working properly.
What's weird is that I can connect just fine when I plug my computer directly into the ethernet port on the wall
Good. You just verified that your connection is good.
and even when I just connect directly to the router via ethernet cable.
Good, you just verified that the router's wired component is working.
D-Link had no ideas and said "Call Apple, they won't tell us anything." It doesn't seem like a router problem.
oh, yes it could be. There are basically only two things which could be wrong here: the wireless component of the router, or the wireless card in the Mac. Take the Mac to another location and see if it can connect wirelessly. If it can, you just confirmed that the wireless in your Mac is working. If it can't, you just confirmed that the wireless in your Mac is not working. if the wireless in your Mac is working, the problem is probably the D-Link. Test by bringing another machine, Mac or Windows, close enough to log into it wirelessly, and see if the other machine is able to pick up. If it can, the problem is definitely the Mac's wireless. If it can't, the problem is definitely the router. Verify that its wireless is on and set up. If everything there is as it should be, but you can't connect, get a new router. If the wireless on your Mac is not working, have it serviced.
The guy would have told me if there was some new driver I needed.
no new drivers should be necessary.
Seems like there's some sillyness going on with my airport card. Any ideas?

  • X BOX 360 unable to connect wired or wireless.. help?????????????

    Hi all;
just bought a new X BOX 360,  ive tried every single solution wireless or wired...i have an actiontec MI424wr current firmware,
keep getting that MTU incorrect error even tho i did reset it...i tried from 1364 to 1492....ive added the xbox in the router to open the xbox ports..(was a preset) have Universal plug n play on...looks like i am totally out of options..and looking at the googled question...with all the FIOS user that cant use XBOX im not alone..
also  where the HECK is the direct i want to talk to someone in bangladesh FIOS support number??
    Thanks

well, when you connect it wireless - do you know if you get an IP address?  you would either see that in the xbox network status screen, or in your router.
so log into your router by entering http://192.168.1.1 into a web browser.   admin is your username, and your password is on the service tag of your router.  its located under the bar code and it starts with a CSJx0000000  it IS case sensitive.
when you log in click on my network at the top and see if the xbox is listed there.
If it's listed in there, (which I am assuming since you can use the preconfigured port forward) then you may just need to increase the MTU to 1500 in the router, or experiment with the MTU in the advanced settings.
Where are you putting that MTU ?  in the xbox or in the router?  the router is set to 1500 so maybe you should match it up.  There's  a lot of people that can connect their xbox live to the routers, so you shouldn't have too much difficulty, but we can try to help you.
I would start from scratch personally.  so that means
Hard reset the router (in the back there is a reset button, press it and hold it for 15 seconds and let it go)
plug in the xbox to one of the LAN ports (1, 2, 3, or 4) do NOT plug it into the ethernet WAN port.
try to connect to the xbox again.
let us know what happens after that.

  • Unable to connect to new wireless network in Mountain Lion with Photosmart C4780

I have a Photosmart C4780 and have just upgraded my imac to Mountain Lion. HP are not providing new drivers for my printer as they say it will work with Mountain Lion. I have downloaded software updates. However, I have just changed my wireless network as I have a new broadband provider but am unable to connect to it. My problem is that the set up assistant software provided which I used originally to set up does not work with Mountain Lion.
    Any ideas please?

I have solved my problem, I've bought an Epson. It works perfectly. If HP can treat their customers with such disinterest and contempt I don't want to give them my money.

  • Unable to connect laptop to wireless network

My MacBook Pro will not connect to my wireless network, but my iPad does so I know it must be a problem with my computer rather than the network. Any suggestions?
I'm not sure if there is some obscure setting that I need to change.

    Give us more information, please.
Is your wireless network supplied by your ISP, your landlord, your own router, or something else?
What can you tell us about the settings on your wireless network? (Not the passwords.)
Did this ever work, or is this the first time you have tried to connect the MBP to this wireless network?
What model/year MBP is this? It has to be somewhat old if it is running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) as per your profile.
