Unable to create a drill through or drill down report

Hello I am new to report builder (or any SQL related tools) and I am still learning to do a many things.
Background: I have managed to design a pie-chart report that shows Number of Assets, and when they were maintained. The fields I have for the table seven columns
Asset ID (e. 123456), Accepted On Date(dd/mm/yyyy), Last Serviced on Date(dd/mm/yyyy),  Min. Service interval per year (e.g 1,2,3,4) Overall Risk Score (between 0-16), Risk Category (e.g Green or Orange), maintenance
Compliance (e.g Compliant or No Proof)
I get an extract in .rdl format from our Asset Database (CRM) which includes Asset ID, Accepted On Dates, Last Serviced on Date, Min Service Interval per year, Overall Risk Score
I add calculated field of Risk Category as Orange or Green, where an overall risk score > 8 will make the Asset ID fall in the Orange Category and any risk < 8 will be Green Category
The second calculated field is the Maintenance Compliance, where I have added formula when certain conditions between Accepted On Date(dd/mm/yyyy), Last Serviced on Date(dd/mm/yyyy) and Min. Service interval per year, are
met. When they are met, it is "Compliant", when not met it is "No Proof".
The pie chart has
Values as Count(Risk Category)
category Groups (Risk category) + (Maintenance Compliance)
Probelm: I am trying to design a drill down or a drill through report where if I click on the slice, the table displayed below will only contain values (or rows) corresponding to that region. So, if I click on Green - Compliant,
then a table should appear which shows only asset values which have Risk category value Green and Maintenance Compliance Value as Compliant
Please let me know if anyone can help     (Link Copy Paste in browser: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzjF_kUloVtkSUk0YlZDbFVYR3c/edit?usp=sharing)
Note: I am doing this report offline, as the server connection does not work. So i usually edit the .rdl file and then upload it to the server to check if it runs

Hello Alisa
Thank you for the response. I tried doing the following, and I am pretty sure I must be doing something wrong because of my inexperience with SQL tools.
But I get an error while I try to upload it onto the server. I have uploaded my files here
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0BzjF_kUloVtkSjhCd3J6VU11alk&usp=sharing
Is it possible to check these. The files are (.rdl file, error log text file, screen shot of error when uploading to server)
Also, in your explanation you mentioned
Add a dataset (DataSet1) in the report with the corresponding fields (when I try to add another data set(DS1) with the values shown in DSMain (my main report), it does not allow populate the query fields of the main report (DSMain). So I have to manually
add all query field + the two calculated fields (Risk_Category & Maintenance_Compliance). Add another dataset (DataSet2) with RiskCategory, MaintenanceCompliance two fields (I added another Dataset and named it as DS2, and copied the same Calculated
fields from DSMain (main report) for Risk_Category & Maintenance_Compliance
Add two parameters (RiskCategory, MaintenanceCompliance) in the report, get these Available value from DataSet2 fields.( two parameters appears new
RiskCategory --> Dataset-DS2, Value Field- Risk_Category, Label Field: Risk_Category
MaintenanceCompliance --> Dataset-DS2, Value Field- Maintenance_Compliance, Label Field: Maintenance_Compliance
3. Add two filters of DataSet1. Please refer to the following values:
Expression: [RiskCategory]
Operator: =
Value: [@RiskCategory](I am not sure I have clearly understood this part. As my values in Dataset 1 (DS1) are the same as the main report (DSMain), the query + calculated fields are the same. Hence my Dataset 1 (DS1) will also have a Calculated field
as Risk_Category and Maintenance_Compliance. And do I have to add these values as filters in DataSet2 (DS2) ? In which am actually manually typing Expression: [RiskCategory]
Operator: =
Value: [@RiskCategory]
Expression: [MaintenanceCompliance]
Operator: =
Value: [@MaintenanceCompliance]
Main Report
3. Add the subreport below “Specify a report”. (I had to give a random name as 'DrillThrough' in this field. Am I doing something wrong)
4. Click Add icon to add parameter to run the subreport. Please refer to the following values:
Name: RiskCategory (Note: This is parameter name in the subreport.)      Value: RiskCategory
Name: MaintenanceCompliance         Valeu: MaintenanceCompliance
(I had to manually type the Name & Value fields, as they did not appear in the drop down list when I click on add)
I am sure by now you must have realised how amateur I am with this tool
Please let me know
Thank you once again for being patient

    Hi,
You can enable Drill Down function by right clicking Section Name and choose
    Drilldown OK.
Refer to the link for the complete details.

  • Problem creating Drill-Down report

    Hi,
I have problem in creating a drill-down report, got confused how to do it. this is my requirement.
The main portion that will be first displayed contains a group on match_code and has its own detail section. now when the user selects one of these match_code it should drill down to give more information about this match_code, so the Drill down should also have its own detail section that will be hide and drilldown ok.
If this the proper way to do it. I will be creating a drill down report for the first time.
    Thanks,
    Reena

    Hello Reena,
If I understand your situation correctly you have a group on match_code and a details and b section. You want the Group Header and Details a sections to appear on the first "page" or drilldowngrouplevel 0. When the user drills down you want the Details b section to appear.
You can do that using the drilldowngrouplevel function.
Set the details b section to suppress when drilldowngrouplevel = 0, this section will only appear after drilldown.
I am not sure if you still want the details a or group sections to appear after drilldown, if you do then there is no need for conditional suppression. If you don't then use a conditional suppression formula for those sections of drilldowngrouplevel <> 0

  • Create a Drill Down?

I'm trying to create a drill down report where, if the user clicks on an item in the group tree it will show the information for that and only that item
I've created my report as a "standard report" because the "Drill down" option was not available in .NET2005 or my Crystal Reports 9 developer edition
Right now I have a group structure that looks like this:
    Day
    Order Number
Right now when I click on it; it brings me to the Group Details section and shows all the data, I want it to show the data for that Order Number
I've been looking into the formulas and "DrillDownGroupLevel" always returns 0 no matter what I click on in the group tree, I'm guessing because I don't have drill down setup for the group(I don't know how)?

Can you satisfy this requirement using cascading prompts?  Your requirement sounds best suited for this functionality.

  • Query in EIS Drill-Down Reports

    Hi all:
We want to build Drill-down reports in EIS. I know the basic of creating a drill-down report. Created a sample using SQL server database and Essbase 9.3.1 dummy(test) cube.
Just to give you a background we have planning application and no Essbase-only applications.
I wanted to know is it possible to use an already existing cube in essbase to create drill down reports. I do not want to go through a process of creating the hierarchy in EIS as we already have DRM and a process around metadata creation, which is not likely to change.
Is there some tool that can take a outline and create a Model/Metaoutline in EIS ?
Please let me know in case you have any suggestions or wild ideas on this :)

The short answer is no, you can't do it that way.
EIS development flows from the relational side to the Essbase side.
The Metadata Outline cannot be built until the OLAP Model has been created. Drill through reports are LROs defined in the Metadata Outline and linked through the OLAP model to the source tables.
I tried to do the same thing four years ago and learned that EIS has to build the Essbase Outline in order to enable drill-through. In Version 11.1.2 that has not changed.
I am curious, though. I was told by my Oracle Planning instructors that EIS doesn't work with Planning. Is that no longer true?
    Good Luck.

detail is a kepmapping entry in cgicmd
this does not work and the detail report does not get the p_empid value.

    Hi,
I got this resolved by using javascript and doing explicit form submit. As our information is highly secured we don't want the users to see any of the URL links from href, browser or from view source.

  • Total Label in Drill down reports

This is a simple case scenario. I created one drill down report by Country --> State --> City and set this object as section. It has revenue Column in it. Now I did Summation on the Revenue column and it shows like this
    USA  -- (Section)
    Column1, Column2
    XXX, 3
    Sum, 3
Now instead of Sum, I would like the label to replace it with country name and when I drill down to second level, it should replace it with the State name and again on level 3 replace it with City name.
Could anyone help me on achieving this. Is it doable? I have been trying to achieve this but had no success.
Thanks for your help in advance.
    Rids

Yes, It can be achieved with the help of the DrillFilters() function.
You can build the logic using if-else condition. Here is the one for you:
=If(Drillfilters([City])<>"") Then [City] Else If(Drillfilters([State])<>"") Then [State] Else If(Drillfilters([Country])<>"")
    Then [Country]

  • Multi-Use Drill Down Reports?

    Hi,
I'm just starting out with reporting in SSRS so this may be a silly question but I'm struggling to find a way to do what I want :)
I have a large graphical report with several top 10 reports on different a cube. (eg. top 10 number of events, top ten numbers of computers affected)
I want drill down reports for both the Event Name and Computer Name, also to be able to click on the header of the report and get a complete unrestricted report. I have created a drill down report that has all the data and if I choose one item (say computer
name) I can drop down to the drill down and filter the table in that with the computer name and return any results for that computer. I cant figure out how to have a secondary link that passes a wildcard to returns all results. I'd also like to have the ability
to send an event name to the same drill down and a wildcard for the computer name. However I cant figure out how to get the filter on the table to accept any wildcards.
I dont want to have to create multiple reports for each of the different drilldowns, is this possible? (Easy to understand answers for a newbie if possible :) )

    Hi Chris_C2000,
If I understand correctly, you have configure “Go to report” action in your report. It is Drillthrough in SSRS. You want to pass a value link to the corresponding report. We can add parameters in the drillthrough report, then pass parameters values to the
    report.
I have create a simple report in my test environment. Suppose we have the same dataset (DataSet1) in main report and subreport with two fields: CalendarYear, SalesAmount. Please refer to it.
    Subreport:
Add a table in the report body, fill with CalendarYear, SalesAmount fields.
Add another dataset (DataSet2) with CalenderYear field.
Add a parameter (CalenderYear) get Available Values from DataSet2 CalenderYear field.
Add filter in the DataSet1, with values below:
    Expression: [CalenderYear]
    Operator: =
    Value: [@CalenderYear]
    Main report:
Add a chart in the report, fill SalesAmount in the Values dialog box, CalenderYear in the Category Groups dialog box.
Right click the bar in the chart, click Series Properties.
Click Action in the left pane. Select “Go to report” option.
Select the subreport below “Specify a report” prompt.
Click Add icon below, and fill with following values:
    Name: CalenderYear                 Value: [CalenderYear]
Then, when we preview the report, we can click the specific bar link to the subreport get the corresponding data.

  • Drill Down Reports - Very Urgent

    I have the following situation.
I want to create a drill down report and pass parameters from the
    master report to the detail.
I built 2 simple tabular reports Drill1 (master) and Drill2 (detail). I have placed a button in the repeating frame of the Drill1 report, and I wrote the following code in its trigger:
    srw.run_report('report=DRILL2');
I have tested the report and it works just fine.
But .... I want to pass as a parameter to the second report the value of a field. According to the documentation I shall change the button trigger to
    srw.run_report('report=DRILL2 paramform=No p_1=''' || :field1 || ''''); -- (the value is a string)
I did so but it gives me the REP-0159 error. Am I doing something wrong?
Note that I am using reports version 6.8.12.1
    Thanks
    Ioanna

    hi Ioanna,
The Problem seems to be with the quotes in your srw.run_report command line . The appropriate commandline should be
    srw.run_report('report=DRILL2 paramform=No p_1='||:field1||' ... <rest of the cmd line >');
    ( note the quotes before / after ||:fie1d1|| .. )

  • Drill Down Report (Denes Kubicek)

    Hi Denes and everyone
I would like to create a drill down report.
    I have 5 tables namely:
    1. Method (method varchar2(60) PK)
    2. Category (cat varchar2(60) PK, method varchar2(60) FK)
    3. Skill_type (type varchar2(60) PK, cat varchar2(60) FK, method varchar2(60) FK)
    4. Skills (type varchar2(60) FK, empno NUMBER FK, status char(1))
    5. Emp (fname varchar2(60), lname varchar2(60), empno NUMBER PK)
and a view between Skills and Skill_type: (type varchar2(60) FK, empno NUMBER FK, status char(1))
The user should select a method he/she obtained the skills (e.g. Internally or externally) then after selecting it drills down to skill category (e.g. systems, softskills, technical or HR) then the user should click a category and drills down to skill type (e.g. microsoft word, conflict management or A+) here the user should click a checkbox or Y to indicate which skills he/she have and then click a submit/save button which updates/insert the view/skills table(4).
    Example

  • Drill Down Report by Grouping Data

I am using Apex version 4.
I'm wondering if there's a way to create a drill down report by grouping data and having a plus (+) symbol (or some other symbol) next to the group so the end user can expand or collapse as they want. So similar to how it works in Microsoft Excel.
So I'm looking to build a report that looks something like:
    Market Office Revenue
    1 $200
    a $50
    b $70
    c $30
    d $50
So there would be a way to expand or collapse the list of offices.
Anyone know of any way to do this? I was hoping to avoid having to create linked reports. Even if there's no way to get the expand/collapse functionality to work, it would be acceptable to just show the data as I have in my example above.
    Thanks.

Sorry, the format of my example got messed up.
It's basically a hierarchy between Market and Office. So it's Market 1, then underneath that it would be Office a, b, c, and d. One market, multiple offices. Total market revenue of $200, then each office has the amounts listed.
    Hope that makes sense.
