Unable to create logical dimension in bmm layer

Hi all,
I am not able to create a logical dimension hierarchy in the bmm layer of the rpd.
when I right click on the table I am not able to find the create logical dimension option in the popup window.
could you please help me out in this?
In the logical table we have data from sql statement also.

Create Dimensions is only available if the selected logical table is a dimension table (defined by 1:N logical joins) and no dimension has been associated with this table.
To create a dimension automatically, the Administration Tool examines the logical
table sources and the column mappings in those sources and uses the joins between physical tables
in the logical table sources to determine logical levels and level keys.
Hope you have defined the Logical join in BMM before looking for this option. If joins are not defined, this option won't come.

Doubt on creating logical table in BMM

I have a fact table (time fact table) in physical layer. I am adding a new column billable flag.
This flag is related with w_lov_d table that means it will contain the row wid of W_LOV_D in time fact table.
I have created a physical alias table(W_LOV_D) and created foreign key relation to time fact table.
I have created logical dimension table for billable flag in logical table. WHen i create this table, content tab should be at the table itself. I am getting all the table which are listed in the content. But not the table itself.
How can i bring the table itself in Logical dimension table and
I didnot find the dimension table under content table of time fact table also.
Can anyone throw some idea on this?..

Just drag and drop the attribute from the physical layer to the logical dimension table. You will have the LTS created with the table as content.

Or more generally speaking:
To create a "logical table" consisting of multiple "physical tables"...hence the names. It's the backbone of the whole BI server concept and the way the rpd handles the requests.
I.e.: how would you otherwise proceed for making an analyzable table from SAP, Teradata, Oracle and a flat file with no full change-access to all the data sources?

Unable to create logical joins

Oracle BI version 10.1.3.3
After transferring the tables from the physical layer to the business modeling layer, I am trying to create logical joins among the tables in the logical layer using the Logical Diagram. At the logical join dialog box, I am unable to select the table columns on either side and the join operator is grayed out. The join is created, but with an empty expression.
I am, however, able to create foreign keys in this layer.
What could be the reason for this, and how do I create logical joins? The documentation recommends to create logical joins rather than foreign keys.
I have the same problem if I use the Join Manager.

Hi,
What you´re doing is creating "Complex joins" at logical level, that´s why the boxes are grey, you can't insert a join operator in this type of joins. It is recommended that you use complex joins at logical level that follow's the physical joins at physical level.

SAP* or DDIC being unable to create logical system in SAP PI 7.1

I am not a basis person.
I had freshly installed PI 7.1. I was finding that I am being unable to create new logical systems . I tried logging to both clients 000 and 001 using sap* , ddic , and pisuper . pisuper does not even have the authorization to execute SALE . SAP* and DDIC can excecute SALE but unable to create or assign clients.
I reinstalled my system from scratch thinking i must have errored on something, as creating clients is a very simple task. but even the new PI 7.1 gives me the same problem.
is something wrong with my installation , or there are additional roles/authrizations I need to assign to a user.

Besides PISUPER other users are also created some of the are PIAFUSER, PIDIRUSER, PIRWBUSER etc. Every user has a specific purpose in a PI system. For activities like creating logical system etc. own id's should be used.
There are couple of guides out there which explains in detail the purpose of all the users in PI system.

Creating logical dimension table using common attributes of Facts

I need to create a common logical dimension based on an attribute present in both the fact tables. Example -
Expense fact has 3 columns expense_key, expense_amount and customer_name
Revenue fact has 3 columns revenue_key, revenue_amount and customer_name
I need to create a prompt for customer_name and have a report including expense_amount and revenue_amount.
How can I create the logical dimension table in the Repository and join it to both the fact tables?

Will there be an exact match between the customer names in both the tables? Also, we do not have a common key between both the tables(Customer Name cannot be used as the common key since it is not the primary key. If we make a join on customer Name we would get wrong duplicated data). If all you want is to pass down the filter of customer name and get the revenue and expense, create 2 fact tables(for expense and revenue) with their own dimensions and then pull them into a common subject area. Then use the set operations to create the following report
Customer Name Revenue Expense_Null (just populate 0)
Union All
Customer Name Revenue_Null(just populate 0) Expense
Then use the dashboard prompt on this report.

Drilldown in answers without creating dimensional hierarchy in BMM layer?

HELP! I have a main report like this:
title: Region EAST (prompted field- user entered: North, South.... )
heading: Departments Total Sales
rows: Meat (01) 500,000.00
Produce (02) 100,000.00
Organic Items(03) 250,000.00
Users wanted to ClLICK on either Meat, Produce or Organic Items field to get the detailed report on that particular dept. and would prefer to Click on the desired field than using department as a prompted field. :(
I did try to use the navigate function on Departments column to get to the detail report, but the results came back with ALL departments. Is it possible to drill down in answers without creating the dimensional hierarchy in BMM layer? If so, please show me how to create the link that would navigate to the detailed report when users CLICK on desired department, ex: Meat (01)? BTW, detailed report may came from different resources (data is in the detailed table...) and I still need to pass the region variable to the detailed report.
I really need a big help on this.

thank you for looking into this problem.
I did use the Navigate function on the 1st report, create a prompted filter on the depatment column (second report) but user can only click on the high lighted Department column header (on the first report) which navigated to the 2nd report and it displayed detail of all departments. Since users cannot click on a particular deptpartment, therefore I cannot pick up the value (01) for Meat department to pass thru the 2nd report. Is the Navigate function just works only when you click on the header column not on the data values in that column? do I need to set any other function to the department column on the 2nd report beside the filter?

Unable to create attribute dimension in Essbase Studio

As per the process,I am create an Attribute for an dimension as below

Here the issue i am unable to create an 2nd attribute parallel to first on i mean attributes are not creating as sliblings.

I think I understand what you are asking. I think your example is something like
Products
---Colas
-----Coke
-----Diet coke
Bottle (attribute)
---Coke
Can (attribute)
---Diet coke
This is not the way attributes work, you would have a column in your soruce perhaps called container_type that has the relationship
Container_type
Sku
So the rows would look like
Sku----Family-----container_type----other properties
coke...Colas........Bottle............XXXXXX
Diet Code..Colas...Can.............XXXXXXX
This could be in your primary table or a joined table

Unable to create logical port in SOAMANAGER

Hi All,
When Im tryign to create a logical port for my consumer proxy I get
SRT Framework exception: HTTP: Current user does not have the required authorization to access the HTTP destination.
Any clue what authrizations I need? I didnt get this error while generating the proxy from the wsdl and Im using the same userid/pwd.

Applied the note, still the same error.
Have this issue is resolved?

Unable to create logical port

Dear All,
I have created a web service from a function module. I have also created a proxy for the web service.
Before creating the logical port, I am also including the same port name in the endpoint of the service.
My scenario is, I am creating and consuming the web service in the same server.
While creating the logical port, the error
SRT Framework exception: Uninstantiated object "subject sidl service" in method IF_SRT_WSP_CONFIG_SIDL~CREATE_CLNT_CFG_FROM_WSDL_D of class CL_SRT_WSP_CONFIG_SIDL
is coming.
Can anyone help me out with this please?

Hi Prosenjit,
I have received the same error when creating a logical port. I believe that the issue may be to do with the default PI WSDL containing two <wsdl:port> definitions, one for HTTP and one for HTTPS. I saved the WSDL locally, removed the <wsdl:port> definition for HTTPS (as I am only using HTTP) and then generated the logical port successfully, without receiving the error message.
Please note that you must use the via File option, rather than via HTTP Access, as the HTTP version will still contain the two <wsdl:port> definitions.
Please also watch out for Note 1325092, which means the URL Access Path (on the Transport Settings tab) is not set correctly. If this Note applies, you may need to copy the complete URL from the WSDL into this parameter if it is not set correctly.

Unable to create logical volume snapshot

Hi All,
Pls note that the follwoing error is reported when a snapshot is being created in our Oracle Linux Server release 5.11 box:
[root@hawaii901 tmp]# lvcreate --size 500m --name snap /dev/ora_vg/vol02
Volume group name expected (no slash)
Run `lvcreate --help' for more information.
Any clue on this issue?

LVM snapshot is a general purpose solution that was not designed with Oracle database in mind. It can be used, for example, to quickly create a snapshot prior to a system upgrade, then if you are satisfied with the result, you would delete the snaphot.
There is probably a common misconception. LVM snapshots, like all COW snapshosts that I'm aware off, allow to create a backup of a live filesystem while changes are written to the snapshot volume. Hence it's called "copy on write", or copy on change if you want. This is necessary for system integrity to make a complete backup of all data in a LVM volume at a certain point in time and to allow changes happening while the filesystem backup is taking place. A snapshot is no substitute for a disaster recovery backup in case you loose your storage media. A snapshot only takes seconds, and initially does not copy or backup any data, unless data changes. It is therefore important to delete the snapshot if no longer required, in order to prevent duplication of data and restore file system performance.
If snapshot or COW technololgy suits your purpose, you will actually want to look into BTRFS filesystem, which is more modern, employs the idea of subvolumes and is much more efficient that LVM.

Unable to create Measures dimension in proper relationshipin Essbase Studio

I am planning to build measure hierarchy in Essbase studio with TBCSample(SQL Server 2005) which is came by default with Essbase Studio installation
I built the hierarchy with parent child relationship.
However the hierarchies is not coming in the proper order
Generally Sales,COGS should come under “Margin ” and it should be under “Profit”
Eg:      Profit
     Margin
          Sales
          COGS
However it is showing differently in “Preview” mode.
Profit
Margin
Margin
Sales
COGS
When I deployed the cube I got the below errors because of the duplicate members

open the minischema and in the graphic go to your measures table. highlight either the parent or child member and right click. select create join. In the screen that comes up, selet the other column from the same table. It will create the join. You wnat an inner join. You can also click on the member and drag and drop the join line to the child member to create the join

Unable to create a mask on Adjustment layer

hi.
I want to apply motion tracking data to a mask, therefore i'm trying to utilize an adjustment layer to control the mask position. So i tracked motion on a video footage, applied tracking data to Adjustment layer, then marked the Adjustment layer and drew a closed mask on it. However, when i finish the mask, it does not "cut the hole" on the video footage (which is right below the Adjustment layer). Tried all the available modes (Add, Subtract, Intersect, etc.) but only the outlines of the mask's shape are visible on the video footage.
How can i apply a mask to an adjustment layer? Or maybe there are other methods to apply motion tracking data to a mask?

I think that you're misunderstanding how masks on adjustment layers are supposed to work. If you draw a mask on an adjustment layer, you are restricting the area within which the effects on the adjustment layer apply; it does not, as you say "cut a hole in the video footage". If you want to "cut a hole in the video footage", then you make the mask on the footage layer, not the adjustment layer.

Problem creating hierarchy in BMM layer

Hi,
We are trying to create hierarchy for one of the dimension which contains 10 LTSs, each LTS represents Bridge-->Dimension join in physical layer. So, each LTS contains inner join between Bridge and Dimension tables.
We performed the following.
Right click on Dimension and select Create logical dimension--> Dimension with Level-Based hierarchy.
The error is "Admintool is unable to create the structure for the dimension <<Dim name>> "

Hi,
Here we have created 10 LTSs for supporting 10 bridge tables. We are joining same dimension table with multiple bridge tables in physical layer. And each bridge is joined with corresponding fact table. when id comes to BMM layer, we created single dimension which contain LTSs for each bridge table, and we joined the dimension to fact.

Implementing Logical FACT & Logical dimension from 2 different data sources

Hi Gurus,
Here is my situation. We have 2 Different Data sources. One is SRMW and the other one is a different source. What we are trying to implement here is we wanted to create logical dimensions and logical facts as well in the BMM layer. For ex: w_day_d from SRMW and other time dimension from another source makes a logical table. And similarly a fact from SRMW and and another similar fact (Same data types though) will make a logical fact in the BMM.
I have done the POC of it, but the only problem is that i was able to fetch the data from only one data source not the other source.
Any suggestions ??

What I already mentioned is that you have to create multiple logical table sources and set the fragmentation content on each logical table source.
When you have two physical tables for the product dimension, for example DIM_PRODUCT_A and DIM_PRODUCT_B, you must add them to your logical table Products as two separate logical table sources and map all columns to the corresponding logical table columns on the Column Mapping tab.
Hereafter you should go to the Content tab of each logical table source and describe what content is in the logical table source.
For example for the logical table source of DIM_PRODUCT_A:
"BM"."Product"."Product Name" <= 'Product 2'
and for the logical table source of DIM_PRODUCT_B.
"BM"."Product"."Product Name" >= 'Product 3'
Then you must also check "This source should be combined with other sources at this level"
When you run a query in Answers only on the product table, two queries will be generated to get values from both tables.
