Unable to edit a publishing page

Hi,
I have created a new page from the 'Gear' Add a Page option in a SharePoint 2013 publishing site.  When I go to Edit page option, I don't see the ribbon with options to insert webpart, etc.  Instead, I am presented with just filling out the page
metadata.  Please help.

Hi Shonilchi,
When we click the "Add a Page" from up-right "Gear" icon, it will create a wiki page, but it sitll could be inserted with "Insert" tab from ribbon.
Could you provide a screenshot for your issue?
Did this happen to all the pages, or only pages created by "Add a Page" from gear?
Please check if the IE with compatibility mode could fix the issue, and also check if other type browsers Chrome, Firefox, etc. could work.

  • Unable to Check In Publishing Page

    I am running into an issue with a custom page layout that I have created.  On this page layout I have a publishing html field, publishing image field, and a publishing summary links field.  The problem is when I check-in the publishing page
    as a draft the content in the publishing HTML fields does NOT save and redirects me to the root page in that web.
    I then checked the SharePoint ULS logs and found the following error.

    I have tried to find more answers on the web but have been unsuccessful so far.  Has anybody seen this error before or got any possible ideas to try?  Thanks in advance for any help.

    I am getting this same error in SharePoint Server 2013 when creating new publishing pages with a custom Page Layout created using Design Manager.  The page uses a custom Content Type isth a required column of "News Type" which I suspect is at the root. 
    The workaround is to Check In the newly Created page before adding any content, then check it out again.  why you cannot check it in after adding any more information than the Name is a mystery.

  • How can i edit Iweb published page to open as a Popup?

    I want to edit my iWeb site so that when a link is clicked it opens a different page as a popup with no other toolbars, scrollbars etc - just the image i want to show.
    I found some code online (http://www.quackit.com/html/codes/html_popup_window_code.cfm)  that does this in javascript, but i do not know where in the html file this would need to go for it to force that page to open as popup.
    I have text wrangler so i can edit and save the file in the right format again.
    I need to be able to set up various different triggers on a web page - Its a single photo image but i want to be able to open different pop-ups depending on where the viewer clicks. I tried using a blank shape (no fill, no stroke) along with an html snippet widget. This triggers the pop-up as i want, but it also places a definite empty box over the image. I need this to be invisible.  I have also read that the snippet widget is not the mpst reliable way to add code at specific places on the page.
    Hence i think the best way would be to insert code into the actual page that instructs it to open as popup.
    Please can someone advise me the best way to go about editing the code to get this result?

    thanks for the suggestions...
    unfortunately, i don't understand the code enough to figure out what i need. The pop-ups you show are exactly right, but they are being triggered by smaller individual thumbnails.
    That is not what i want - i need to have various trigger points for different pop-ups, placed at diferent places on a larger single image.
    Imagine a photo of a crowd - each person when clicked on would open a popup showing a specific image. Its not a regularly laid out grid - and the trigger points need to be manually positioned.
    I have created a blank page with the same dimensions as the graphic it contains, then published this from iweb. When i link to this it opens the page as a docked page, with all the navigation bars, scrolling bars etc, as well as a large area of empty white page below the image.
    My question is really how do i edit the code of the graphic page so that it only pops open the graphic when its accessed. Surely the relevant code for that would be embedded in the page itself, and not the link that connected to it?

  • How to edit published page?

    I created a website using iWeb, published it and now want to edit...but I cannot for the life of me figure out to edit the published page. I can view it...I just can't seem to edit it. Any ideas?

    The only way I know to deal with that problem is to:
    * Go to your published site.
    * Drag images, etc from your published site to iWeb, then use those elements to reconstruct your site.
    * Or, do a screen capture of your site (someone suggested Shift-Command-4; I use Shift-Command-3). Then use an imagine processing problem like Photoshop Lite or perhaps iPhoto to crop out material you don't want. Then paste the remaining image into iWeb. It's not idea, but it might save you a lot to time reconstructing your site.
    * Another tip is to do your text composition in MS Word, then "Save as Webpage". That way, you have a backup copy of material in a .doc file, in addition to what you have saved in our domain file.

    Hello -- I've just built a new site for a customer who wants
    to maintain their own content, and we're set up to use Contribute 3
    for that.
    I've sent the customer their key for editing, and, during
    early training, they're able to connect to the site and edit pages.
    However, when they attempt to publish an edited page, after
    Contribute displays the "Publishing your draft to the server..."
    message window, they report a fairly lengthy delay (i.e. at least a
    couple of minutes), then Contribute indicates that the "operation
    was cancelled" and displays the error message: "Contribute could
    not connect because the server is down or not accepting
    connections. Please contact your administrator."
    I am able to successfully edit and publish pages to the site
    while on the phone with the customer at the same time they're
    working, using Contribute 3.11 (they're running at least 3
    something - waiting to get exact version info. from them), the same
    connection key and roughly the same general environment as the
    customer (as far as I know). The main difference I know of is that
    I'm on a fast cable broadband connection and they're on what I
    believe is a slower DSL (exact speeds unknown). They're on Windows
    XP (probably the Home version). I don't know yet what their setup
    is re. things like firewalls, etc., although its a home office, and
    they're not a high tech user. They report no other problems
    accessing the Web.
    The server is up and as far as I can tell accepting
    connections, at least from my vantage point, during this time (as
    indicated, I can do a Publish of pages I edit while troubleshooting
    on the phone with the customer, and can access the server in other
    ways as well during this time).
    I've emailed a new key to them (which I tested locally before
    sending), to see if perchance something might've been amiss with
    their copy of the first key, but without success. I'm fairly sure
    it' s not related to permissions on the FreeBSD/Apache server, as
    ones I've tested seem to generate different error conditions, and
    haven't yet been able to configure any of my firewalls to cause
    this error, searched and haven't found anything quite related in
    the forums or online support so far.
    I've also tried changing various settings in XP related to
    internet security and so on but haven't been able to reproduce the
    problem here that way either.
    Anyone have any ideas what might be causing these symptoms,
    and/or what else I should be looking for, how to resolve?

    CS3 has a fix for the timeout problem. You can set the length
    before Contribute times out and says it can't connect to the
    server. But they didn't fix the underlying problem--that it takes
    so long in the first place.

    If you want to open the source code in an editor of your choice you can change two hidden settings.
    Type '''about:config''' into the location bar. Accept the warning message that pops up, this brings up a lot of settings. You then need to change 2 of the settings that appear, for details on the 2 settings see [http://kb.mozillazine.org/View_source.editor.external view_source.editor.external] and [http://kb.mozillazine.org/View_source.editor.path View_source.editor.path]

    I am unable to debug the jspx page on Jdeveloper Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.6.0, Build JDEVADF_11.1.1.6.0_GENERIC_111205.1733.6192.1, using Windows 7 OS.
    When right click on jspx page , clicks on Debug option, it gives the following error:
    Debugger unable to connect to local process.
    [Server Instance IntegratedWebLogicServer is shutting down.  All applications currently running will be terminated and undeployed.]
    I also restarted the Jdeveloper, even re-installed Jdev but still the problem persist.
    Any help is appreciated.

    If the jspx page is not part of the adfc-config.xml the page can only be displayed, but the tags will not work as the adf life cycle  is not involved. drag te page onto the adfc-config.xml (the unbounded task flow), right click on it and select debug from the context menu.
    Main problem is : Weblogic server cannot be started in debug mode.
    To check this, open the application navigator, select the integrated server, right click on it and select 'debug' from the context menu.
    After a short time you should see some messages and at last you should see <Runnning> in the message log. Now the server runs (without any of your applications, but it runs).
    If you done't see the 'Running' message you should see an error, which you should post here.

  • I am unable to edit information I have typed into a spacebar, this includes backspace, and when I highlight it, even after reloading the page

    I recently upgraded to Firefox 4 on my 3 yr old Macbook, though I am unsure if this is in fact connected. Now I am often unable to edit information I have typed into a search bar or text box (such as this one) even after reloading that page or pressing first the back, then the forward buttons. Has anyone else run into this, and does anyone know what is going on?

    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Contribute CS3 embeds the contents of SSI Includes into page after Edit and Publish

    I have tried every possible way to figure this out but it
    seems as though no one has this problem or a solution...
    My Dreamweaver CS3 Template based files that have SSI
    Includes placed in a "non-editable region" of a template and/or
    nested templates are continually embedded, merged, or hard-coded (I
    used those keywords for anyone else who might be searching for help
    on this frustrating issue) into the page after it has been edited
    and published with Contribute CS3 for Windows.
    After many, many, hours and days rebuilding templates
    (thinking that it was my code), experimenting with .htaccess
    include_path variables, and cursing this application, I have come
    to one conclusion - if I put my includes within "editable regions"
    in the templates or the template based pages, edit and publish the
    page with Contribute - then the page is saved normally, with the
    includes intact and not embedded within the page. This is of course
    not necessarily desirable!
    I have tried using various types of include directives like:
    <?php include('footer.inc'); ?>
    <?php require('footer.inc'); ?>
    <?php virtual(footer.php'); ?>
    <!--#include file="footer.inc"-->
    <!--#include virtual="footer.inc"-->
    All Includes are merged into the template-based page after
    the page has been edited and published with Contribute - if they
    are in "non-editable regions"!
    Please, someone point me in the right direction - if it's
    calling Adobe's Help line, or posting the files or whatever. I
    can't finish this project and hand off to the client until this is
    resolved.

    then just click on "here"

  • T&E-Unable to edit/print expense report - Page not found or is unavailable

    Hello Gurus!!
    We have some of the users reporting that they are unable to edit/print the expense report. When they try to do that they are getting the error message "page not found or is unavailable". We verified that the URL for the PCD page parameter is being maintained correctly in the Homepage Area framework.
    Could anybody please suggest what else could be wrong?

  • Custom publishing page layouts have undesirable overlapping effect in edit mode

    I am very new to SharePoint branding.
    I've created several custom page layouts using SPD.  They are used in publishing site collections with basic web part zones in various <div>'s for layout purposes.  The issue I've run into is that while in display mode the pages work fine,
    but in edit mode there is an undesirable overlap that causes the web part editing panel to become obscured or unusable. 
    I have ran across a few search hits that seem to dance around this topic, but nothing I've found thus far has truly addressed my issue.  Am I editing the CSS, master page, page layout or something else to ensure the edit mode is functional?

    I have solved my own problem, but felt it might be necessary to document it here for those just starting out.  For a page layout to display properly, at least for me, I had to invoke the corev15.css classes in my <div> tags to convert to table
    elements when switching to Edit mode.   While this is ultimately not my first choice, I was able to add some custom styles in this CSS file to style my div's in a more suitable fashion. 
    On a publishing page, you may have code inside your <asp:Content> tag like:
