Unable to install iTunes 11.1.4.62 on Windows 7 64-bit computer

Received notice of iTunes update to currently installed version of iTunes, first on media computer, then on every day computer (both Windows 7 64-bit).  Successfully installed iTunes 11.1.4.62 on media computer, then attempted download and install on every day computer.  Efforts failed repeatedly.  Now, on bootup of every day computer, am receiving Apple error message stating that APSDaemon.exe won't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing.
ITunes appears to be forcing me to select syncing options for iPad, iPhone, iPod devices on every day computer during installation, but I don't own any of them.  Rollback occurs when none of the options work and I choose abort, but previous version of iTunes is now corrupted and won't start.  It seems to have been uninstalled since it no longer appears as being installed in Control Panel.
Any suggestions?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall press on)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • Unable to install iTunes 10.5.0.142 on Windows 7 64 bits system

I am not able to install the latest version of itunes, version 10.5.0.142, released by Apple last week.
I think it is important to note that there are three pending updates on my system (Windows 7, 64 bit), which keep on failing again and again no matter what the mode of update (manual via microsoft website or automatic via the program provided by microsoft). These are:
    1. Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2556532)
    2. Security Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package (KB2538242)
    3. Security Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package (KB2538243)
The methods that I have tried to install the latest version of itunes (all have failed as of now):
    a. Automatic via the previous version of itunes. This tries to download and install itunes in parts, but ultimately leads to the error originally pointed in this thread. Failed.
    b. Uninstalling the previous version of itunes completely as mentioned here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 and also using Microsoft Fixit and then trying to install the new version. Failed.
    c. Uninstalling all but apple software update, and then trying to update manually from the software update file available in c:\Program Files (x86)\Apple Software Update folder. Failed.
    d. Uninstalling all the versions of visual c++ (2005 and 2008), and then trying to install the latest version of itunes. Then re-installing the latest versions of c++ (2005, 2008 and 2010) along with updates but three as pointed above, and then trying to install the latest version of itunes. Failed.
    e. I have tried various permutations and combinations of keeping the firewall, antivirus and even the internet off and on. Failed.
The combination of errors that I have received:
    - An error occurred during the installation of assembly ‘Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version=“8.0.50727.6195″,type=“win32,publicKeyToken=“1fc8b3 b9a1e18e3b”,processorArchitecture=“x86”. Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x80073712
    - Error 7 indicating installation of microsoft .net framework 4.0 for me (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3074) and
    - Error 2 - "Apple Application Support was not found. Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again. Error 2 (Windows error 2)
However, I have seen on some websites that people have been able to install the latest version of itunes on their windows 7 64 bits system (surprising, but yeah).
I would appreciate any pointers as to:
?1 How do I install the latest version of itunes on my system.
?2 If the steps are not included in the solution to ?1, how do I update 1., 2., and 3. mentioned above.
?3 If I am able to install itunes 10.5.0.142 on my windows 7 64 bit, would I be able to successfully my iPad2 to iOS5?
    Many thanks.

I should have posted this earlier, but anyway. I restored my laptop to factory version after backing up any useful data, and the first thing I the laptop was restored was connect to the internet, download and install the latest version of iTunes. And Bingo! It worked.

My iTunes stopped working at this time.  I thought I could delete iTunes and start over. This tactic did not work.
Can anyone make sense of what I am saying and help me to get my iTunes back again?

Try a more recent version of my advice. The "for older video cards version" may work when the default version doesn't.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Has anyone got a solution for the inability to update or reinstall itunes 10.6.3 on a windows 7 64 bit computer

I have been unable to update or reinstall Itunes to my windows 7 64 bit computer.  I have tried most of the suggestions to date to no avail.  My outcome is a dialog box that says itunes was not installed. . .  At one point, it created a situation where my CDDVD drive was disabled but a windows troubleshooter got that back working citing a "class filter driver problem" that it repaired.  Also, Itunes comes up and plays from the optical drive (and the hard drive) but will not write to the CD or refresh my podcast list.  Anyone?

Installed latest itunes update and computer tried to burn a playlist to CD and realized computer no longer recognizes my CD/DVD drive. After doing some data mining, found out from community this is an long standing APPLE problem- which doesn't get much tech support in terms of fixes. I have an HPPavillion DV6 64 bit, Windows 7 OS . • Cannot Install itunes 9.1.1.12 on Windows 7 64-bit

I keep getting the same error whenever I try to install iTunes: +This iTunes installer is intended for a 32-bit version of Windows. Please download and install the 64-bit iTunes install instead.+
According to this link: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1037, it is the 64-bit installation software.
So I tried this as suggested by Microsoft: +Use the Windows Installer Cleanup Tool and see if it helps. Click here to download. Then try to install the most current version of iTunes.+
    I did that...but nothing.
So I tried this suggestion...+Right click your mouse, next you will see a drop down menu and in the middle you will see "Install as Administrator" Left click on that option and let the install begin.+
That didn't help either. I got the same error message of the 32-bit thing.
Each time I try to install, I make sure all Apple sofware has been removed from my computer, even any iTunes files in my Music Folder, etc. Then I reboot. I even cleared all of my internet caches.
I'm not sure what else to do. This is a new computer, we got it about four days ago.

Okay, the bookkeeper's office has firefox, so husband downloaded it using his computer. But once I tried to install on my home computer, I got the same 32-bit message. Something you mentioned did catch my attention: iTunes64setup.exe
This is what the properties read on the installer:
    File Version: 9.1.1.12
    Original File Name: iTunessetup.exe
Is this where the problem is? Should it say iTunes64setup.exe?
He has been clicking on 64-bit link. But it seems to not be downloading an iTunes64setup.exe file, but is instead downloading iTunessetup.exe. Does this have to do with his work computer not being 64-bit? Do you have to download from a 64-bit computer?
Again, thanks for responding. I really appreciate it.

  • Can I install iTunes in separate user accounts on Windows Vista 64-bit?

    Hi,
My wife and I use different user accounts on Windows Vista 64-bit. Before I go and mess things up on my computer, I wanted ask some questions:
    1) Has anyone has successfully installed iTunes to multiple user account?
    2) If so, has anyone successfully shared the same music root directory for 2 different iTune instances.
I'm thinking with iTunes very tight integration with the music files (for indexing/searching, etc), that it would be bad to have add/change/delete on the same music root from 2 independent installations.
    Experience OR opinions welcome!

) Has anyone has successfully installed iTunes to multiple user account?
You don't install the iTunes application more than once. Each user account in Windows will have its own iTunes library.
If so, has anyone successfully shared the same music root directory for 2 different iTune instances.
Many people have done so. This should help:
iTunes: How to share music between different accounts on a single computer
Note that iTunes has no folder-watching capability, so if you add a track in one user account, the other user will have to add that new item manually, either by using the Add To Library command or dragging the item into the iTunes window. There are a couple of potential solutions from other developers, though:

I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
do you have any kind of Remote Viewing software installed, like LogMeIn or Go To My PC ?
These are known to cause trouble with the the BC Driver packages.
Check if there are additional Graphics Adapter shown (apart from the "real" one).
If so, uninstall the remote software, do the 3.1 update and then reinstall.

  • Itunes 11.0.2 installer for Windows 7 (64 bit) freezes?

I'm having a problem installing iTunes 11.0.2.26 on Windows 7 64-bit. I have tried both the automatic updater and a full uninstall/reinstall with a standalone instalation. It seems to get stuck around the same point. If I try the automatic updater first Safari installs then iTunes starts to install. The iTunes installation gets to around 90% then the installation stalls. There is no error message and the installer just says "Installing..." but the CPU usage drops to 0% on both cores. I have left the installer sitting like this for hours without it finishing. I have not heard anyone else complain about long installation times or stalling. A very similar problem happens if I try to uninstall and then do a standalone installation. The installer gets near the 90% point on the bar and then the process just stops and hangs. If I try to cancel the installation at this point, the installer will stop responding and then I have to end the process. Any help on this frustrating issue would be appreciated!

You can try downloading 7-Zip (free), or a free trial of WinRAR, and unpack the iTunesSetup.exe or iTunesSetup64.exe file into its components then try installing them individually in alphabetical order (don't try to install SetupAdmin.exe or iCloud.msi). You may get a more useful error message as to which component has problems.
