"unable to process payments at this time" is your payment gateway down?

Hi, trying to rent a movie but it keeps saying unable to process at this time. Is Apple having issues with its payment gateway?

I've not had issues purchasing in iTunes in recent days in UK but am doing so from store credit which may work differently.
If I was in your position I would unpower and restart the ATV and your router and try again - a persistent issue would likely suggest an issue at Apple's end.
Can you play any stuff via YouTube/Vimeo etc ?  Does previously purchased stuff play from the internet?

Trying to buy a Season Pass to a show and all I get is the error "The iTunes Store is unable to process purchases at this time. Credit card processing is temporarily unavailable. You may continue to browse the store. Please try to make your purchase later."
This has been going on for the last 6 and a half hours.
Anyone else having probs? The system status page shows no problems...

Try it on the computer in iTunes. I've been having this problem for a few days on my iPad. When I logged in on the computer it said something about having a billing issues and I had to log in and reverify my info. It said I had an almost $10 balance due which was weird, because I'm linked with Paypal and have plenty of money in there at all times. It keeps saying "your Paypal transaction was declined" which I can't even begin to figure out. I re-setup the Paypal payments and it works fine now. Everything is sorted out. I wonder if a payment agreement as they call it, expires after so long and has to be re-verified?

  • Is anyone getting "unable to process purchases at this time" messages?

For almost a week now i've not been able to buy anything on itunes, including the ipod touch upgrade and it's incredibly frustrating. Every time i try to buy something it says
"The iTunes store is unable to process purchases at this time. Payment processing is temporarily unavailable. You may continue to browse the store. Please try to make your purchase later."
Can anyone help? Can i fix it myself or is it a problem at Apple's end?

I'm getting rather narked at the term 'temporarily' in the error messages since it's been the case since 5pm on Tuesday..
Phoned the AppleCare helpline on Wednesday, they suggested deleting iTunes from my machine then reinstalling, which I'm extremely loath to do..
Took laptop into Apple Store in Glasgow, they couldn't suggest anything other than very heavy traffic on the server from people downloading the iTouch and iPhone upgrades. I guess patience is a virtue, but it would be at the very least polite of Apple to flag up the heavy traffic so customers don't waste time thinking the problem is with their own devices..
    Grr..

  • The Mrs. and I are receiving "The iTunes Store is unable to process purchases at this time. Please try again later." message whenever we try to update apps or purchase new apps. This is on two separate iPhone4's running 4.3.3

I haven't updated the iOS this week because I'm still working on resolving a separate issue, syncing playlists back to iTunes from the iPhone after a Snow Leopard restore.
FWIW-- The Mac Store on my MacBook also returns a similar error message when I try to update pixelmator and evernote. I get "The iTunes Store is unable to process purchases at this time.  Credit card processing is temporarily unavailable. You may continue to browse the store. Please try to make your purchase later."
After that error in the Mac Store, I immediately get the following error message: "We Could Not Complete Your Request.  There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (100)"

Try contacting iTunes via email to check if there is an issue with the account. go to apple.com/support/itunes
Click on iTunes Store account and billing and select inquiries. On the right side click on "email us".
Before doing that trying viewing your account information first. Open the iTunes on you mac, look at the menu and select store and select view my account. Try removing the card (this is only applicable if you don't have a pending charges with iTunes) and hit done. Sign out, quit iTunes and sign back in and try updating the apps again.

    Hello Johnson,
It sounds like you are trying to make purchases on your AppleTV but are being met with this error message. I would start by restarting the Apple TV with this process:

Restart your Apple TV by selecting Settings > General > Restart.
If the issue persists sign out of the iTunes Store, then restart it again, and test the issue.
From the main Apple TV menu, choose Settings > iTunes Store.

  • HT3204 I have been receiving the error message ...'iTunes store is unable to process purchases at this time.  Please try again later"  over that  last month with increasing frequency

I have been receiving the error message ...'iTunes store is unable to process purchases at this time.  Please try again later"  over that  last month with increasing frequency.  What is the cause and solution?

    Hello e-b p,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
When encountering iTunes Store connectivity issues, the following resources provide the best solutions. To isolate the issue further, I'd be curious to know if it persists on other Wi-Fi networks (assuming you are using a portable computer). Either way, please attempt the steps outlined in these articles:

  • Itunes store is unable to process purchases at this time

When I've tried to buy something for the past two days, it has a notice saying that the credit card processing is temporarily unavailable. You may continue to browse the store. Please try to make your purchase later. How long do I have to wait and why am I the only one waiting.

And this is the brilliant customer support reply... of course nothing wrong with itunes... Nevermind that all of the suggestions don't do a thing because all of my settings worked at one point!
Good afternoon, my name is xxx and I will be helping you today. I understand you have not been able to purchase anything from the iTunes store for 2 days due to an error message.
There are several reasons why this could be happening:
    1. Your bank's servers were busy. Try again at another time.
    2. There is an issue with your credit card. Try using a different credit card or contact your credit card company to advise them of the problem.
    3. Your billing name or address does not exactly match the address listed on your credit card statement and the United States Postal Service http://www.usps.com/. Any discrepancy in punctuation, abbreviation or capitalization can cause errors, which might prevent you from purchasing music from the iTunes Store. Please follow the steps below to review and edit the information on file at Apple:
    1. Using your web browser, go to http://myinfo.apple.com.
    2. Select your country and preferred language from the drop down menus.
    3. Enter your iTunes account name and password.
    4. Click Continue.
    5. On the "My Account Profile" page, make sure to select the appropriate state in the State drop-down menu for your primary and shipping addresses as indicated on the USPS website. If you do not have a shipping address listed on the account, do not select a state.
    6. Verify that you have entered the area code for each phone number into the correct field. If your area code is missing or not entered into the area code field and grouped with the rest of the digits in the phone number, your account information will not save properly.
    7. Click Save at the bottom of the page.
Again, I apologize for any frustration this may have caused you, and I thank you for being an iTunes Store customer.

Since the stock market is not open today, I hardly doubt this is true that stock is dropping. Further, as of Thursday, shares were up by 6.6%. Apple's quarterly earnings just reported were up 27%. All indicators say that Apple is doing just fine.
People need to keep in mind that there are bound to be bugs in any new release of just about anything these days (except maybe a Mac -- my daughter has an iBook and we've never had a bit of trouble with it). Look at your computer -- bugs are precisely why we have service packs as add-ons to Windows. I remember older versions of Windows that were chock-full of issues.
It is the weekend, and while I am sure there are Apple staff out and about, this is just how it goes. Try to reauthorize your computer through the Store menu in iTunes and that may very well solve your connectivity issue.
    Hang in there!

  • ITunes Store is unable to process purchases at the time, Payment process

    Hi,
I am trying to update my iPod Touch to firmware 2.0 and I would be more than willing to pay the 8 euros but I am not allowed by iTunes which everytime I try to purchase gives me this warning: "The iTunes Store is unable to process purchases at the time, Payment processing is temporarily unavailable. You may continue to browse the store. Please try to make your purchase later".
Please help me cause this is getting really annoying! I want IT!!!!
    Cheers,

Im having the exact same problem at the minute.
I've just contacted apple about it

  • Unable to process payments

Whenever I try to buy anything, I just get a dialogue box saying, 'The iTunes Store is unable to process payments at this time. Payment processing is temporarily unavailable. You may continue to browse the store. Please try to make your purchase later.' It's been like this now for about four or five weeks. I'm pretty sure it's not my ISP or security, because my brother is able to make purchases on the same connection without problems, and the security is configured to allow it.

I don't think it is, I've been able to use my card for other things in the intervening time, and I know I have funds.

  • unable to log in at this time because an error has occured

Colleague came in over weekend to use a specific PowerMac and large screen rather than her usual MacBook Pro.
She was unable to login as 'herself' as she repeatedly got the message that she was <<unable to log in at this time because an error has occured>>.
No 'headshaking' as if she had given the wrong password, but she couldn't log in or accesss our sharepoints.
She tried another desktop Mac (a  macmini) and got same result...
She could (and today still can)  happily log in to the server via her laptop...
    What gives?

We just had a similar issue here.
On the MacBook Pro, we needed a new user to log in. Existing MBP users were fine, new users no chance, although administrator accounts were OK. OSX 10.7.4, same issue with 10.7.5.
Clues were found elsewhere on this site (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4140320?start=0&tstart=0), but what we did to fix it was this:-
Ensure the Mac will create a local folder for new user accounts (top tick-box)
In AD, turn off the Z: drive mapping to the home folder (or whatever drive you use) for that particular user
On the Mac, log in and let it create the local home folder
In AD, turn the drive mapping back on and respecify the home folder path
The account should now continue to work as it's already created the local home folder.
Admin accounts worked because we don't map the home folder for those. Originally we were mapping using a logon script, which is why we didn't have an issue when setting up the other users initially. What probably doesn't help is that we use DFS, and the Macs don't like talking to DFS (we have to map to the \\servername\share instead of \\domainname\dfs-share for those).
Hope this helps. Many thanks to user "Think Touch" for providing the clues.

  • HT1491 I'm using a prepaid credit card to make in app purchases. Every 2 days or so, I will attempt to make an in-app purchase and it will say "Unable to complete transaction at this time. Please contact iTunes Store Support."

Like I said, I often play iOS games on my iPhone 4S in my spare time. Sometimes, if the game is good enough, I will attempt to make an IAP (In-App Purchase). Sometimes, I have no trouble with this. Other times it will say: "Unable to complete transaction at this time. Please contact ITunes Store Support. I primarily use a prepaid credit card by AMEX called Bluebird. I always make sure that I have plenty of funds available in it. For instance, tonight, it has roughly $200 stored. So I try to make an IAP for $10 and it works fine. Later I make another for $15, no trouble there either. Then I try to make a purchase on the same game for $2.99 and it gives me that error message.
This has been happening on and off for the past 3-4 weeks only. Every few days it happens, I contact the iTunes Store Support, and sometime in the next 24-72 hours they get back to me. They then apologize for the inconvenience and fix the problem. But the main problem is that their fix seems to be only temporary. It happens irregardless of how much money I have available on my card. I've even had it happen when I had just redeemed a. $50 iTunes gift card and was trying to make a $5 purchase.  It doesn't seem to matter if I've spent a little bit or a lot of money that day. It doesn't care for which game I am purchasing the IAP. TThis never happened to me before a month ago. Now it won't stop. And it is incredibly frustrating that it seems to happen for no rhyme or reason out of the blue. Then I'm stuck waiting on the support staff to get back to me for the next few hours to few days, depending on the day.
Is this happening to anyone else?  Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening?  Or how can I prevent it from happening in the future. The support folks at Apple are nice, but I'm tired of emailing them every other day with the same problem. I'm sure they are quite tired of getting emails from me at the same frequency. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
    Nick
P.S. my Internet connection is working perfectly. No technical difficulties whatsoever other than the inability to make an IAP. Also, after it gives that unable to complete transaction message, I can no longer buy anything with my apple account until tech support fixes it. Any suggestions or ideas appreciated.

Thank you Brian, but I just tried that, and it didn't work, I'm still getting the same messages.
