Unable to receive mail since march 7, 2010

Not able to receive any email on my Imac running 10.68 Snow Leopard since march 7, 2012.  haven't done anything to the email setting.
Also lost email back to 2010.  I am using ATT email account.  I haven't tried to remove those email account and add a new one yet.
I am able to still receive emails on my iphone and ipad.
Does anyone have any suggestions.

Sure.
That being said maybe make an appointment with a genius at apple. Maybe they can find the problem or just have them do a good old fashion clean out. I also have a PowerBook, I cannot even remember how old it is. Every so often when strange things would start happening I would take it in and have them clean it out for me. For Christmas I got my new MacBook Pro. The only reason I asked for one is my PowerBook just started turning into and old man.
No sound for at least a year, the keys were popping off and it was just plain tired.
Had non of that started happening I would still be using it. I really think the clean out gave it life.

I receive both My husbands emails and mine through my ipad. We both have gmail accounts.  His emails are coming down on the ipad but not mine.  I haven't received mail since Saturday. We use the email for business I desperately need it and I don't have a laptop anymore as it is broken.   In my wisdom I desired to buy an ipad instead,  what a mistake.

The iPad will support multiple Gmail accounts, but of course you have to set each one up individually.  Did you set up both accounts?  Go into Settings/ Mail, Contacts, Calendars to confirm both accounts exist.  If they do, also familiarize yourself on how to navigate between accounts to make sure you can view your Inbox.  You may also want to check your settings to make sure that you have the default account set up as you expect for Mail, Contacts, Calendar, and Notes (if you're using all those features).  That is important only when initiating something new, you have to have a default account to do such a thing so make sure the default is your account since it is your iPad (assuming that's what you want).
Alternatively, install the free Gmail app and then use only his (or your) account with that app and use the standard iOS Mail app for the other account.

I have been unable to open Mail since the last OS X Yosemite update on my iMac
I have tried double clicking on mail in Applications as suggested in Mail Help but to no avail.

Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list.  Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Unable to receive some emails in Exchange 2010

    Hi,
Spent a few days on this and getting no where fast and out of ideas now.
We migrated a customer from SBS2003 running exchange 2003 to Server 2012 running HyperV with Exchange 2010 on a VM. So far the migration had gone through without many issues. We have 2 VM one AD/File server other Exchange 2010. with the old SBS2003 server
    still online.
Basically after moving all the mailboxes from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010, some random users wont receive mail. Internal and sending is perfect. Port 25 was changed from the old SBS server and pointing to new EX2010 box.
After more testing pointing port 25 back to the old server solves the problem, all users receives emails instantly. So emails are routed via the old SBS box to the new Exchange.
On the new server both Send and receive connectors have been deleted and recreated. Checked the Default connector and Anonymous users has been ticked. Also this is ticked on the newly created receive connector.
I enabled SMTP logging and noticed the emails the wasn't getting delivered had the message below.
354 Start mail input; end with <CRLF>.<CRLF>,
    ,Remote
Found another person with something similar and tried the fix didn't work for me
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/da8a1fa4-0757-4ea5-8225-de15707d5a57/problems-receiving-mail-smtpreceive-is-set-to-verbose
Spoke with the ISP, all the email for our customer goes through a SPAM filtering service and they noticed their server would Telnet in and get "connection lost" after the Mail from: command, which matches the error on the SMTP log. Again it happens
to random users not receiving mail, but I did notice any new users that was created after the migration doesn't get any external emails when router via the ISP and Port 25 pointing to the new server.
So as a trial I bypassed the ISP by updating the MX record to point mail directly at new server, this fixed the problem! Everyone new and old users was receiving no problems. But speaking with the ISP they have 100+ customers on Exchange 2010 and never
experienced this issue. Only difference i can see we are using HyperV, could this be a networking issue?
PS our ISP uses a Watchguard device for Spam filtering.
    Thanks!!!

X.400 potentially could be the problem.. got through this article

    Hey There,
Azure does not support smtp relay, you may want to use SendGrid (which working with Microsoft Azure).

  • I've lost the 5 months of received mail since Tiger Upgrade!

    Hi. Can anyone help??!
I managed to successfully upgrade from 10.3.9 to 10.4.7 today, finally!!
However, I've found one major blip...Since I've opened Mail 2.1 it seems to have lost ALL THE EMAILs I've received since the 17th MARCH of this year. This is pretty disastrous because that includes some fairly important emails (confirmations, passwords etc) !!
I've tried 'Rebuild' - but naturally it didn't work. Nor did 'Import mailbox' and clicking 'old OSX Accounts'.
My only saving grace may be this..... before I upgraded to Tiger I 'Carbon Copied' the entire hard disk in 10.3.9 to my new 160gb external HD. Can I retreive it all from there somehow? Hope someone can help.

Powermac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   External firewire Lacie Porsche 160GB HD

    Hi Simon.
This is a known issue. The conversion from Mail 1.x to Mail 2.x is broken. Take a look at the following thread to better understand the problem:
Help! "You need to take this account online in order to download it."
In particular, you may want to take a look at the following article (also referenced in that thread) to learn what you might have done before migrating to minimize the risk of this happening, and what you may do after fixing the problem to avoid similar issues from happening in the future. DON'T do now what the article suggests, though, as that would make things worse in the current situation:
    Overstuffed mailbox is unexpectedly empty
More specifically, if this is a POP account, the following procedure should allow you to fix the Inbox problems:
    1. Quit Mail.
    2. Make a backup copy of the ~/Library/Mail folder, just in case something goes wrong. You can do this in the Finder by dragging the folder to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down, for example. This is where all your mail is stored.
    3. Create a new folder on the Desktop and name it however you wish (e.g. Inbox Old). It doesn't need to have an .mbox extension.
    4. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/POP-username@mailserver/INBOX.mbox/.
    5. Move the files mbox and Incoming_Mail out of INBOX.mbox, into the Inbox Old folder just created on the Desktop. These files contain all the messages that were in the mailbox before the upgrade to Tiger, and maybe even some messages that had been deleted. mbox is the most important. Incoming_Mail may or may not be present.
    6. Move any strangely-named Messages-XXXXXX folder to the Desktop (not into the Inbox Old folder). These folders are to be deleted after fixing the problem. They are temporary folders created during an import or a re-indexing process, and Mail should have deleted them when done. Their presence is a clear indication that something didn't work as expected. If you've been using Mail after the conversion and have already tried to fix the problem by rebuilding the mailbox or something like that, they might contain messages that are neither in Messages proper nor in the mbox file, so keep them around until the problem is fixed.
    7. Move everything else within INBOX.mbox, except the Messages folder, to the Trash.
The result of the above should be that INBOX.mbox contains the proper Messages folder only, and the Inbox Old folder on the Desktop contains the mbox and Incoming_Mail (if it exists) files only. Now, proceed as follows:
    8. Open Mail.
    9. The account's Inbox should properly display in Mail as many messages as *.emlx files are in ~/Library/Mail/POP-username@mailserver/INBOX.mbox/Messages/. If that's not the case, select the mailbox in Mail and do Mailbox > Rebuild.
    10. In Mail, do File > Import Mailboxes, choose Other as the data format, and follow the instructions to import the Inbox Old folder that's on the Desktop. Do with the imported mail whatever you wish. You may move to the account's Inbox the messages that Mail failed to convert properly, and delete those that did get through and, hence, are duplicates now.
The following collection of AppleScripts has a Remove Duplicates script that can be useful for removing duplicate messages:
    http://homepage.mac.com/aamann/Mail_Scripts.html
If all is well and you're not missing anything, the files on the Desktop can be deleted, although you may want to keep them for a while, just in case.
Ask for any clarifications or if you need further assistance.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user's home folder.

  • Unable to receive mail from a particular address (love is at stake!)

Okay, so for weeks my new girlfriend and I have been steadily swapping mail without problem. Then, on Sunday 5 Aug at 10pm EDT or so, mail from her personal account ([email protected]) to me ([email protected]) starts bouncing back to her as undeliverable. I don't receive any of them. She is able to mail others, however, without problem and can also mail me at my workplace (not a good solution). The mailer daemon keeps telling her that it continues to try to send it but after xx.xx hours has been unsuccessful. She can receive mine fine.
She has asked comcast support for help. Their best theory after examining the history is that icloud has blacklisted her address, perhaps for spam or a perceived threat as interpreted by the icloud security system. This is admittedly their best guess. She did attempt to send me an email listing several links to bike tours. I never rec'd it and it appears that it was the earliest case of mail rejection.
First, can someone advise me on how to contact icloud about this issue? Secondly, does this stand to reason to those of you who understand these systems?
    Thanks for your guidance.

Okay sorry for delay. Here is a header of a message that had been blocked and it has now apparently been released as i just recieved it a bit ago. I'm imagining that's the result of a 48 hour waiting period. Hope this helps. Thanks again.

  • Inability to send or receive mail since yesterday

I bought the 3G on Friday and it has worked fine since then, but now the most recent emails it has downloaded is from yesterday (there are lots more sitting on the server), and it won't send email.
It's constantly looking for a connection.
This is true even though Safari works fine and whether I use the Wifi or not.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, I thought I was the only one. I downloaded 2.0 and my email accounts worked fine until I used the new "delete all" feature. I lost all ability to get any email and the phone just sat in the "connecting" mode. I went to the genius bar after being diconnected from the apple help line after one hour on hold because they were unable to solve the problem. At the genius bar they wiped it clean and I went through the proces again. Having not learned my lesson I used the delete feature again and no email. This time they gave me a new "old" phone and I am not using the delete feature and so far so good.
During this downtime all other connections worked fine. It was only the 3 email accounts that were down. Apple did not understand and did not seem to interested. I have no idea why, other than a possible weird bug in the delete feature. Strange but true.

Yesterday I uploaded Yosemite 10.10.2 thinking it was fixed by now. In Mail, my POP account gets this error message: Mail cannot send your password securely to the server. You can remove this restriction in the Accounts preferences by setting “Allow insecure authentication”, which could put your password at risk.
My provider says it's an Apple issue. The gmail accounts are logging in fine. Any help? Something simple?
    Thanks anyone.

Thanks Csound1. That did work and Mail was able to connect to the internet. Green light status. Is it because of my provider that I may never have had secure connections? Is that an Apple thing or do PCs have the same issues? Appreciate your help. I'll research insecure connections as I am ignorant of the consequences.

  • Unable to Receive Mail (Mail app)

I'm getting the following error when I try to get my email:
"The mail server denied access to the account because an administrator or other mail client was using it when Mail tried to log in. Please try again later.
The server error encountered was: pzb4 maildrop lock busy! Is another session active?"
I do not have any other mail clients, so I have no idea what's going on here. Mail server appears to be working properly according to the online status page. I haven't changed anything at all. Every time it tries to check mail it wants me to authenticate which doesn't normally happen when it checks mail.
Message was edited by: Patrick Besong

I found the answer in our university's Knowledge Base:
Some Apple Mail (aka Mail or Mail.app) users running MacOS X 10.5 have been running into problems with the new mail.psu.edu AND email.psu.edu. To the end user, this issue manifests as Mail.app repeatedly prompting for the password and never successfully checking mail.
Here is what Mail.app is really doing:
    Connects to mail.psu.edu OR email.psu.edu
    Sends user ID and password
Fetches the list of all messages on the server (UIDL)
    Disconnects
Compares the UIDL list to its internal list of messages already downloaded
    Connects to mail.psu.edu OR email.psu.edu
    Sends user ID and password
At this point, mail.psu.edu OR email.psu.edu returns the error "-ERR userID must wait n seconds before checking mail." Mail.app mishandles this and throws up the password prompt.
    There are two issues:
    1. Why does Mail.app drop the connection at step 4 then reconnect instead of maintaining the connection as it has done previously? AIT is working on this issue and has opened a bug report with Apple.
    2. Why doesn't Mail.app handle the error message correctly? There is also a bug report opened with Apple on this one. (Note: this has been a running problem for Mail.app throughout its existence).
Fortunately, there is a workaround that will allow users to fetch their mail:
    In Mail.app, go to Preferences➝Accounts.
    Select the account.
    Now select the Advanced tab.
Uncheck the box labeled "remove copy from server after retrieving a message."
    Quit Mail.
    Next, open the Finder.
Go to ~/Library/Mail (where ~ represents the user's home directory).
    Locate the file MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded3.
Delete the MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded3 file. Note: If there are other files with similar names, delete those as well.
Using POPsickle at https://helpdesk.css.psu.edu/listpop/popsickle.html, delete all mail that has already been downloaded by Mail.app/seen by the user. IMPORTANT: This is critical, as the list of messages already downloaded was removed in step 9. Not completing this step will result in ALL mail being downloaded again.
    Wait five (5) minutes.
    Launch Mail.app and try again.
From this point forward, mail checks should work. However, all mail will be left on server. We recommend users plan to periodically purge accumulating mail with POPsickle until the problem is resolved.

  • Unable to receive Mail

I have just recently installed Mac OS 10.4.7 and now Mail is not working any more. Before the installation it worked perfectly well. Mail is not able to download emails from my mail-server any more. It just says that it can not connect to the server because using port 0 there is a timeout. I have controlled my settings, but was neither able to change the port nor to find another configuration error.
Thank's for your help in advance!

    Welcome to the forums.
Assuming you're using POP rather than IMAP (as you have not provided that information), what value is in
    Mail > Preferences > Accounts > YourMailAccount >Advanced > Port:
If it is 0 change to 110.
If you are using IMAP the value should be 143.
This is unless you are using any particular security mechanisms to get to your mail in which case you should contact your admin.
