Unable to reverse idleTimerDisabled. Is that normal?

I have an app that I want to sometimes keep from going to sleep. I do this:

self.application.idleTimerDisabled = YES;
</pre>
to keep the device from going to sleep, which works great.
However, when I want to keep it from staying away, I tried this:
<pre>
self.application.idleTimerDisabled = NO;
</pre>
Which didn't seem to do anything.
I also tried this, thinking that maybe my pointer was no longer the real-deal:
<pre>
UIApplication *ObjAppSingleton = [UIApplication sharedApplication];
ObjAppSingleton.idleTimerDisabled = NO;
</pre>
but still no luck. The app seems to be in permanent stay-awake mode.
Has anyone successfully reversed a call to idleTimerDisabled?

Some observations that might help others:
* I recently upgraded to firmware 2.0.1 (5B108)
* idleTimerDisabled = YES worked when the phone was tethered, but not while untethered, so, after some digging...
* I found that once I copied the application pointer for later calling, then it would suspend sleep the first time the app was installed, but not after re-launching the newly installed app (via springboard instead of xcode).
* Doing this in my app deleagate was reliable (for tethered, untethered, and subsequent relaunches):

application.idleTimerDisabled = YES;
</pre>
* Trying to set idleTimerDisabled = YES via a copied pointer to the application or referencing the singleton wasn't reliable (only tested from different area in the code, not in applicationDidFinishLaunching)

UIApplication *ObjAppSingleton = [UIApplication sharedApplication];
ObjAppSingleton.idleTimerDisabled = YES;
</pre>
Your mileage will definitely vary.
