Unable to set CSS management port to 100Mbits-FD.
This is the first time I've encountered this problem. Thanks in advance!
CSS 11501 running code 7.30.1.06.
Below is the error I receive:
ARLTRKBAXPS1001(config-if[Ethernet-Mgmt])# phy 100Mbits-FD
^
%% Command is not available on Cirrus Logic Ethernet-Mgmt port.
this is normal.
As indicated by the message, the CSS11501 does not support this setting on the ethernet management port.
Only possible to us 10Mb either full or half duplex.

Gilles.

Hi,
Is it possible someone can let me know if the management port on the CSS is out of band? I am assuming it is but haven't managed to fine this in the docs.
ThanksModem support through a console port provides the option of out-of-band command-line interface (CLI) management through a modem, providing flexibility for remote administration.

Half duplex or full duplex configuration for MDS9124 management port?
Hi All,
Is it possible to set the management port of mds 9124 about half or full duplex configuration?
I want to correct following error:
Jun 13 10:27:20.799 GMT: %CDP-4-DUPLEX_MISMATCH: duplex mismatch discovered on GigabitEthernet4/18 (not half duplex), with mtw1pc02bs0(FOX1450G8QG) mgmt0 (half duplex).
it seems mds 9124 set his port to half duplex.
DennisYou may want to check this thread :
https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2059109
Else try the following :
switch# config terminal
switch(config)#
switch(config)# interface mgmt0
switch(config-if)# switchport duplex full
switch(config)# exit
switch#
switch# copy running-config startup-config
Also, I would suggest you check what the counterpart of your MDS switch mgmt interface is set to (i.e. is it set to autoneg, then try setting it to fix speed/duplex or the other way around). -

I have a simple question. Can someone tell me how to access the management port on the css 11150?
I configured the ip and mask on the management port and condigured my laptop for a ip on the same network. But i am unable to connect.what do you mean by connect ?
Are you trying telnet or HTTP ?
Are you able to ping ?
Is the interface showing up ?
Try 10Mb Half duplex set manually and see if it works.
Also, did you reboot the CSS after configuring the ip address/mask for the management interface ?

CSS 11500 Serial Management Port Parameters
How to change / check the baud rate, parity, and stop bits of the serial management port.
My PC is currently set to 9600,8,1,N and I am receiving garbage. Telnet is ok
Thanks,
Stevebe carefull that the cable for console access is different from any other Cisco device. So, if your cable works for a Cisco router or a Cisco switch, than this is the wrong cable for the CSS.
If you search www.cisco.com for 'css console pinouts' you should find the right settings.

CSS: Mgt port for management vs normal port for Maqnagement
What are the pros and cons of using the ethenet management port for managing a CSS and using a normal ethernet port for managing a CSS.
Is any functionality of CSS depends on Management ethernet port? Is connecting via local lan still an issue/requirement?you can use whatever port.
People usually wants to use a management port that is *separated* from the rest of the device so that if a regular port gets hacked and somebody gain access to the device, you can't access the management network.
To obtain this separation between regular port and the management port, a lot of restriction have been created on the management port.
You can't configure a default route on the management port, you can't have routes overlapping between management port and regular ports, ...
Therefore, personally, I prefer not to use the management port. The chance that somebody gain access to the CSS via a regular port is almost null so it does not justify the pain to use the management port.

Unable to set kernel parameters using Reource Control
HI,
I'm trying to install DB2 8.2 on solaris 10.the problem i'm encountering in installation is unable to set MSGMAX and MSGMNB kernel parameters. I tried setting the new replacement parameter process.max-msq-qbytes through projects->Resource Control from the management console.but still uinable to set the parameters.
Can anyone help me in setting the above kernel parameters.
Its not possible to set it thru /etc/system.
thanx
guruI finally had some time to find the actual syntax for tuning process.max-msq-qbytes and process.max-msg-messages. prctl will change those paramaters for an existing process.
As a proof of concept I changed process.max-msg-messages to a 64k. process 2221 is my shell.
prctl -n process.max-msg-messages -r -v 64k 2221
bash-3.00# prctl 2221
process: 2221: -csh

privileged 64.0K - deny -
system 4.29G max deny -
process.max-msg-qbytes
privileged 64.0KB - deny -
system 4.00GB max deny -And now to make this persist across reboots...
So long as I'm experimenting, I'll use projadd and add a new project which just includes me and not the rest of the users in the group staff.
bash-3.00# projadd -p 115 -U testuser \
-K "process.max-msg-messages=(priv,64K,deny)" \
-K "process.max-msg-qbytes=(priv,64K,deny)" \

placer% cat /etc/project

process.max-msg-messages=(priv,64000,deny);process.max-msg-qbytes=(priv,65536,deny)After a reboot I checked the values by loging in under my user and running prctl.

...Solaris 10 has different tunables and default values from 8 and 9. It's default tunables should be good for most applications per a given system's hardware. There are some great blog articles, and discussions on opensolaris.org and blogs.sun.com on tuning that explain the intent of tuning and why we shouldn't have to tune.

Management port on fabric interconnect question
I'm using the same pool of of IP addresses for my FI and KVM pool.
I need to make sure that my management port on each FI is connected to a switch that is also accessible in the same range\subnet, correct?
After setting everything up, I'm currently unable to get to my VIP.Correct. Ensure the subnet masks are correct, and the gateway is reachable. If you can "ping" from outside to each FI's management IP, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to reach the VIP. Obivously the VIP address must be in the same subnet & VLAN as the management IPs, and not be used elsewhere in your environment.

4500X Out-of-Band Management port
I am attempting to set up the FastEthernet management port on some 4500x switches that we have recieved for Out-of-Band management, but I am unable to get them working. I have set this up before on ASR1004 routers and have not had any troubles with them, although I have noticed that they use a different mangement vrf name.
I have added the IP address to the FastEthernet1 port, applied a default route for the vrf (e.g. ip route vrf mgmtVrf 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 x.x.x.x), and connected the port to my switch. I am unable to ping the out-of-band management IP from anywhere, inside or outside of its subnet, and I am unable to ping out from the 4500x using the ping vrf mgmtVrf <IP address> command. When I run a show interface Fa1 command on the 4500x and on the switch its connected to, they both show that they are sending traffic but neither shows that its recieving any traffic. I have tried connecting a laptop directly to the FastEthernet port, set it statically to the same subnet, and am still unable to ping the managment interface. I ran a Wireshark capture on the laptop and I show no traffic coming from the management port on the switch, even though when I check the show interface command it shows that the port is sending packets. I have attempted this on two separte 4500x switches so far with the same results. We are running IOS-XE 03.04.04.SG on both switches with the entservices license. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
JesseHere is the show int fa1 and show run int fa1 while I had the laptop connected and attempted to ping both directions.

I tried starting the server from the console as well as from command prompt. Here I am giving the command below.
nohup ./startManagedWebLogic.sh bi_server1 t3://machineIP:portNo > bis1_startup.log &
But each time I got the same exception.

Service Desk Unable to set status to Customer Action and Proposed Solution
Hi Everyone,
We are unable to set a service desk issue to the status Customer Action or Proposed solution.
I have someone create a new issue in the bakend system and when I receive the issue I assign it to myself as the processor. When I try to set teh status to Customer action it is grayed out.
I have checked the following:
1. As a test I assigned My user with sap_all profile so does not appear to be authroisation related
2. The status profile has all six standard values (New, customer action, In Process, Sent to SAP, Proposed Solution, Confirmed).
3. The transaction types have been defined using the standard profiles for Text Det. Procedure, Partnet Determination Procedure, Status Profile. The Partner Function ORG is set to Sold-To-Party , The date profile is a SRV_SLA_ITEM and the Action profile is set to SLFN0001_ADVANCED. The Org Data Prof is set to a customer defined one: ZSSC000000001.
4. I have checked transaction ppoma_crm and the org structure and my user is assigned to a team lead position.
Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
MichaelHi Michael,
please check your status profile for the "lowest status no." and "highest status no." values of the status values as Alex mentioned!
You can find this in SPRO under "SAP Solution Manager> Scenario-Specific Settings>Service Desk>Service Desk>Status Profile".
If the "high" value of the status "New" is lower than the status number of status "Customer Action" than you can not set the message from "New" to "Customer Action"!
Hope this helps,
