Unable to start two httpd daemons for 2.2.13 version
Hi All,
I tried to add copy /etc/httpd2.2.13 to /etc/httpd2.2.13_2. The I changed the pidfile and LockFile also in conf/extra/httpd-mpm.conf, but when i start httpd both the the pid file is getting created in both logs of etc/httpd2.2.13 to /etc/httpd2.2.13_2. I am not sure how this is happening. Please suggest me to start two httpd in one machine at the same time.

Look at the '-d' option of httpd. You'll then have to copy some files and directories since you don't want the server to share, for example, the same configuration and log files.
Depending on how you create the new directory hierarchy, you might also have to set the PidFile and LockFile directive, etc.

Why does the trace file indicate that the rwEng engine died with error?+
Again why does the rwURLEng engine start up and then immediately shut down?+

If you saved your targets.xml before you started you might save it by renaming it back.
(Double check to make sure you did not miss a rename)
Otherwise, all I have to offer is my rough notes:
1. Backup the file $ORACLE_HOME/sysman/emd/targets.xml.
[oracle@ias02 emd]$ pwd
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/sysman/emd
cp targets.xml targets.xmlbackup
2. Modify the file targets.xml by changing all the occurrences of the wrong reports server name by the correct one.
i.e. Replace rep_test_midtier with rep_new (4 places - changes)
Copy the conf file as follows: ( this will named different from system to system )
cp /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/reports/conf/rep_pia_oracleas.conf /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/reports/conf/rep_fam.conf
run this script:
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/bin/addNewServerTarget.sh rep_fam (change rep_fam to new report server name)
3.Update the changed configuration .
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/dcm/bin/dcmctl updateconfig -ct opmn -v -d
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/dcm/bin/dcmctl resyncinstance -v -d
4. Restart the Application Server Control Console
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/bin/emctl stop iasconsole
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/bin/emctl start iasconsole
In the file:
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/reports/config/reportsConfig.properties
Change the Reports_Server_Name setting from rep_test_midtier to rep_fam (change rep_fam to new report server name)

Generally speaking, to start two OC4Js you have to make sure that they don't listen on the same ports. The easiest way is to copy the home directory to another one, (eg. home2) and change the ports in home2/config/*.xml.
With OC4J 10.1.3.x you can use the Application Server Console to change the number of JVMs to more than one and you're done.

Problem: I am unable to start startOwbbInst.sh as root user.
I get the following error (in short):

i produced the error by starting script startOwbbInst.sh as root user. First time I started the script I set the password. Listener was started successfully. I closed it by pressing CTRL+C. Then I started the script once again. And I got the error above. I tried to execute stopOwbbInst.sh but I got the error I was not authorized. Then I killed the process with unix kill command. When I tried to start the listener again I got the same error as given above.
I really need some help because i am stuck with this problem, and searching the web I found only this blog post:

i am not sure if this is my problem???

After reading from the floppy, it hangs after displaying

Unable to start MPD as a daemon in rc.conf
For some reason, MPD is unable to start as a daemon listed in rc.conf. I have tried running it as a background also and no go. MPD goes after ALSA, so I don't know what else is missing.
Also, I cannot start mpd as root after logging in immediately after my system boots up. It just tells me it fails.
However, I can start MPD after I log-in as a normal user and su into root, then manually typing /etc/rc.d/mpd start.
Could it be that it is unable to find my music database during its attempt to start as a daemon in rc.conf? (because my music directory is in an NTFS partition, which is not listed in fstab because it is automatically mounted by hal)
Could it be that I set "user" in /etc/mpd.conf as "mpd" that it is unable to start it as root?
What could be the culprit?

The place where my music is located (/dev/sdb2) is an NTFS partition which isn't mounted by the time I get to the login prompt. This is because it is automounted AFTER i log-in a user account in which HAL automounts that drive.
Adding an entry in FSTAB and not relying on automount by HAL solves the problem because now when I start it as a daemon, it can actually find my music library. -
Two Chief Position for an org unit
HI,
In PPOM I am unable to view two chief position for an 'X' org unit. I have checked in other 'Y' org. unit ( having similar attributes) and there two chief positions are displayed. The validity period and other relationship in both the org units are same.
Can any suggest on how the two cheif positions are displayed for X org unit. (The client is stating that when Y org unit can display two chief positions then why not X org unit).

What is the error or message that you are getting?
By default SAP allows an Org Unit to have multiple Chiefs assigned to it. Are you able to manually assign the relationship to that position via PO13?

SLOW download/UNABLE to start hd movie
Yipes ... sorry we pushed the download and install new software button. Extremely slow download on an HD movie from itunes and then we were absolutely unable to start the movie at all unlike the previous version of software where you could start watching the movie with only a partial download. Waited for over an hour and got to 34% of movie downloaded and no play now button in sight ... not good. I'm writing this post this morning and haven't checked to see if it finished downloading .. of course I'll check this evening but we wanted to watch our movie last nite. Not happy. C'mon you guys get it together.
Oh, we have Cox cable and internet and the internet was functioning properly and fast as usual.

Lectroidthis is more than likely a temporary, isolated problem in your area... could be apple, more likely your ISP.. ISPs can parse different types of traffic (e.g. video) and set priority up or down for it depending on conditions in the network.. your use etc.. so regular internet traffic is fine but download a huge video file and they start to slow that download... this is referred to as throttling. they may also only start to do this if they see your usage patterns start to change... it could be a lot of things though.
the best thing you can do is do a network test.. this sends your network info to apple and they can possible address bottlenecks in your area.. apple works with companies that put distributed servers with caches of media all over the place so that downloads are quicker (closer to you and i and files don't have to go through entire internet to get to us)
but like i said this is likely just a temporary problem in your area.. my downloads work fine..

I have been using Safari for years and have always kept it on "private." Starting two days ago, I suddenly found myself unable to log onto my blog and many other sites that I normally log onto when private is set. This so annoying, I just switched to Firefox. I don't like Firefox nearly as much as I like Safari. What is happening? How do I fix the problem?

Since you are only using TCP I don't think that is the issue. You should turn on tracing to get more details.

Unable to start Oracle Process Manager from the windows services for OBIEE
Hi,
I have OBIEE 11g installed on a 32-bit windows machine. Of the two windows services installed, I am unable to start the Oracle Process Manager. When I try to start it I get the following error:
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
At the back end, this service is calling the file opmn.exe which is placed at MIDDLEWAREHOME\Oracle_BI1\opmn\bin. On trying to execute this file the error we get is:
The procedure entry point longjmp could not be located in the dynamic link library orauts.dll
I have tried replacing the orauts.dll file, but to no avail.
Please let me know if you have any clue regarding what is to be done.

This error occurs for the following reasons,
*Path variable is not set properly
*Multiple Oracle homes exists in the same machine.
Follow the below steps and let me know if it works,
1. Select My Computer -> Right Click -> Properties
2. In the System Properties screen go to Advanced Tab
3. Click on Environment Variables
4. In the System Variables section select PATH variable & Click edit
5. Now you will find that it will contain invalid directories. Remove the incorrect entries. This may happen when you have multiple oracle homes in the same machine
6. Restart the service.
