Unable to turn column headers bold in Word table using VB Script
I have created a table in Microsoft Word 2010 using VB Script (this is via the script engine that forms part of HP Quality Centre functionality). The table itself is OK, 2 columns with centred headers. However, I am unable to make the column
headers bold. I have spent hours searching the net and trying various options to no avail can somebody please help me.
Set objWord = CreateObject("Word.Application")
Set objDocument = objword.Documents.Open(Src_Dir & template_file
Const wdAlignParagraphCenter = 1'var to control justification of the table columns
Const NUMBER_OF_ROWS = 1 'number of rows in intial table
Const NUMBER_OF_COLUMNS = 2 'number of colums in the intitial table
'search for the "TAA_TABLE" bookmark embedded in the document template, this is where the table will be created
Set objRange=objDocument.Bookmarks("TAA_TABLE").Range
'create the table
objDocument.Tables.Add objRange, NUMBER_OF_ROWS, NUMBER_OF_COLUMNS
Set objTable = objDocument.Tables(2)
'populate column headers
objTable.Cell(1, 1).Range.Font.Bold = True
objTable.Cell(1, 1).Range.Text = "Sub Contractor"
objTable.Cell(1, 2).Range.text = "TAA Number"
'centre the column headers
objDocument.Tables(2).Rows(1).Select
Set objSelection = objWord.Selection
objSelection.ParagraphFormat.Alignment = wdAlignParagraphCenter
'format the table with plain grid lines
objTable.AutoFormat(16)
'set the column widths
objTable.Columns(1).Setwidth 230,0
objTable.Columns(2).Setwidth 230,0
Any help is graetfully appreciated, as this is driving me wild.
Cheers,
Hi Citronax,
I haved noticed that you used objTable.AutoFormat to format the table. Based on my understanding, this fuction will applie a predefined look to a table.
After I move the code which bolder the text behind this line of code, it works well for me.
'format the table with plain grid lines
objTable.AutoFormat (16)
objTable.Cell(1, 1).Range.Font.Bold = True

How to point at a word table using forms Ole and Word Document
Hello.
I like to know how to position at a word table and send data from a forms module using ole. I have done something similar before using bookmarks. It's easy and it works. My requirement now is to send data from a forms module to a word document, but this time, the word document will have bookmarks and a word table needs to be filled from data from the database. Just don't know how to get , access, reference the word table from forms.
I'm still using forms6i in C/S mode.
Help will be greatly appreciated ...!.
Best regards, Luis ...!Hi Luis,
The VBA code for updating the cell found at row three, column two of the first table, of the active document is as follows:
ActiveDocument.Tables(1).Cell(3,2).Select
Selection.TypeText("Hello, world!")I haven't time to convert it to OLE2, but hopefully it will at least give you an idea.

Assuming that you are referring to '''email''' ''(based upon your use of the word sender''), Firefox doesn't do email, it's strictly a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.

From the Parent Table i need to insert rows which are all under this column {(TradeIn_1_VIN),(TradeIn_2_VIN),(TradeIn_3_VIN) } into SALES_TRADEIN Table .
I have used the below Query,
But it reads only (TradeIn _1_Vin) Column in the SALES_TRADEIN table rest 2 records got skipped..
INSERT INTO SALES_TRADEIN
SalesID,
TradeIn_VIN,
TradeIn_Make,
TradeIn_Model,
TradeIn_ExteriorColor,
TradeIn_Year,
TradeIn_Mileage,
TradeIn_Gross,
TradeIn_Payoff,
TradeIn_ACV,
TradeIn_InteriorColor
VALUES
@SalesID,
case when @TradeIn_1_VIN is null then @TradeIn_2_VIN else @TradeIn_1_VIN end,
case when @TradeIn_1_Make is null then @TradeIn_2_Make else @TradeIn_1_Make end,
case when @TradeIn_1_Model is null then @TradeIn_2_Model else @TradeIn_1_Model end,
case when @TradeIn_1_ExteriorColor is null then @TradeIn_2_ExteriorColor else @TradeIn_1_ExteriorColor end,
case when @TradeIn_1_Year is null then @TradeIn_2_Year else @TradeIn_1_Year end,
case when @TradeIn_1_Mileage is null then @TradeIn_2_Mileage else @TradeIn_1_Mileage end,
case when @TradeIn_1_Gross is null then @TradeIn_2_Gross else @TradeIn_1_Gross end,
case when @TradeIn_1_Payoff is null then @TradeIn_2_Payoff else @TradeIn_1_Payoff end,
case when @TradeIn_1_ACV is null then @TradeIn_2_ACV else @TradeIn_1_ACV end,
case when @TradeIn_1_InteriorColor is null then @TradeIn_2_InteriorColor else @TradeIn_1_InteriorColor end
END TRY
Actually my problem is
If [(TradeIn_1_VIN),(TradeIn_2_VIN),(TradeIn_3_VIN)] these 3 columns have details i need all the 3 columns details need to be read to SALES_TRADEIN table.
Suppose if we have data only in [(TradeIn_1_VIN),(TradeIn_2_VIN)] then these column details need to loaded in the SALES_TRADEIN table.
If any columns are blank no problem it can move next process.
Please help me change those particular lines to insert all the 3 records (TradeIn_1_VIN) (TradeIn_2_VIN) (TradeIn_3_VIN) in to the table. From SQL2008 on, besides INSERT-SELECT, and INSERT-EXEC, the INSERT-VALUES form of the insert command is improved. It can insert multiple rows like this:
INSERT INTO my_table(MyColA, MyColB)
VALUES
(1, 1),
(2, 2),
(3, 3)
You could also use that in SELECTs, like this:
SELECT *
FROM
( VALUES (1,2), (3,4)
) t(a, b) -

Separatate column of Web Dynpro ALV table using a vertical line
Hi Experts!
I have Web Dynpro ALV table and I have a requirement to add a colored vertical line between two columns as a separator.
Is this possible? Is it possible to adjust border width of individual cells?
I would be grateful for any ideas you may able to share. Both could be achieved by creating custom theme. But those changes will be applicable to tables and ALVs in your applications.

I am using Excel source which uses Microsoft ACE 12.0 OLE DB provider, this only allows the first 255 columns to be imported and not the rest.
I need to export all the columns into the table .
Any pointers to this is greatly appreciatedIf you can use third-party solutions, check the commercial COZYROC Excel adapters:
Excel Connection Plus Manager
Excel Source Plus
Excel Destination Plus
Excel Task
The enhanced components can be used both under 32bit and 64bit modes and doesn't exhibit the 255 columns limitation.

END CATCHThis is what I've understood from your question. You want to replace @TradeIn_2_VIN value if @TradeIn_1_VIN
is NULL, else the value of @TradeIn_1_VIN.
If this is the requirement then, your CASE statement is missing ELSE part. You can re-write this as below
case when @TradeIn_1_VIN is null then @TradeIn_2_VIN
ELSE @TradeIn_1_VIN end,
or simply you can replace the CASE statement with the below
COALESCE function,
COALESCE(@TradeIn_1_VIN, @TradeIn_2_VIN),

I'm new to VS. I have run the following code. It does not produce any error, and it does not add or update data to my Access database table.
dbUpdate("UPDATE prgSettings SET varValue='test' WHERE varSetting='test'")
Function dbUpdate(ByVal _SQLupdate As String) As String
Dim OleConn As New OleDbConnection(My.Settings.DatabaseConnectionString.ToString)
Dim oleComm As OleDbCommand
Dim returnValue As Object
Dim sqlstring As String = _SQLupdate.ToString
Try
OleConn.Open()
MsgBox(OleConn.State.ToString)
oleComm = New OleDbCommand(sqlstring, OleConn)
returnValue = oleComm.ExecuteNonQuery()
Catch ex As Exception
' Error occurred while trying to execute reader
' send error message to console (change below line to customize error handling)
Console.WriteLine(ex.Message)
Return 0
End Try
MsgBox(returnValue)
Return returnValue
End Function
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks. You code looks pretty good, at a quick glance. Maybe you can simplify things a bit.

For Update, please see these samples.

Knowledge is the only thing that I can give you, and still retain, and we are both better off for it.
Best to keep samples here to VB.NET

Unable to add reference for Excel Object Library for use within Script Task
I have a requirement to use a Script Tax that needs to reference the Excel Object Model. There are numerous articles on using this such as
http://www.databasejournal.com/features/mssql/article.php/3921141/SSIS-Script-Task-and-Microsoft-Office-Automation.htm.
Simply, I need to add a reference to the Microsoft Excel 12.0 Object Library.
I have selected this from the Object List on the COM tab and when this adds the reference it states 'The System cannot find the reference specified', even though the referenced file for this Object is C:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12\Excel.exe
and this file location exists on my local machine ?Please search where "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.dll" exist in your system and try adding the reference.
If you don't find the dll there then there might be problem while installing.
To install the PIAs by using the redistributable package

Hints on Interactive Report's column headers
Hi,
I've used +"< spa.n title = "Hint" > Header < / span>"+ (the first 'spa.n' is so it doesn't interpret as code) to put hints on my report columns headers but found that, when using interactive report's tools, the column names that appear obviously include the "code".
Is there any way to put hints on interactive report columns and still maintain the proper title(in this case Header) when using the tools?
Thank you,
MarcHi,
Thank you for the tip Ghoulies. The spaces I put trying to make it read as text. The code works fine, it actually shows the Header in the report's column and the hint appears on mouse-over.
What I mean is, when using interactive report's tools, such as "Select Columns", The <span title="hint">header</span> {code} appears as the column name in the +display / not display+ boxes.
Is there any other way to put hints on Interactive reports so that this doesn't happen?

How can I save a table with column headers?
Hi
I want to save the content in table to a text file. I used Write file.vi for doing that but the column headers didn't be saved. My column headers are changed depends on my testing result so that the column number is not fixed. Any suggestions?
Bill. You can retrieve column headers with the ColHdrs[] table property and save them to disk before the table contents.
