Unable to understand the usage of OAFM and OACORE run in OC4J in Release 12
I have gather below details but still unable to understand that why two services are there in OC4J in Release 12. My questions are:
[1] If OACORE is there and most of the components are based on Framework in Release 12 then what is the requirement of OAFM?
[2] Is OAFM is only for mapviewer, ascontrol and "Oracle Transport Agent" if we use them?
[3] Why there is seperate process for HTTP_Server as given below if OACORE is already there.
I have gathered below details from various source but still unable to understand fully above three questions.
* Oacore: This runs the OA Framework -based applications (Core Application Modules).
* Forms: This runs the Forms-based applications (using Servlet Mode).
* OAFM (Oracle Apps Fusion Middleware): This is responsible for running the web services , mapviewer, ascontrol (Oracle Transport Agent).

Let me chk the complete details on a R12 server. but for the time being, all I can say is that there are different HTTP services for the R12 Apps and the SOA suite components.
Also your DBA might be a better person to answer and even some reading in the Oracle Process Manager Dev guide, Admin guide will help.

Below are the steps to monitor the process in Performance Monitor.
- Go to the Performance Monitor.
- Right-click on the graph and select "Add Counters".
- In the "Available counters" list, open the "Process" section by clicking on the down arrow next to it. Select "% Processor Time" (and any other counter you want).
- In the "Instances of selected object" list, select the process you want to track. Then click on "Add >>" button. Click on OK.

I am running BO XI R1 on a Win2003 SP1 machine, everything was working fine until last night when I copied the "U2LJUL.DLL" file for JULIAN date conversion to the C:\Windows\System32 folder and rebooted my server. After the reboot the RAS server stopped working and every time I try starting it I get this same error message "Unable to create the Corba OSCA factory and register it on the eBus". in the event log. Apparently, it didn't like the U2LJUL.DLL file and screwed up some internal time functionality. The real issue I am facing now is that even after removing this dll and rebooting my server the problem doesn't go away.
Please advice if you have any idea as to how I can fix my issue.
FYI - This same U2LJUL.DLL file was copied on a windows 2000 server and it's working fine there.

alright understand the difference between forms and designer...but I learned forms 6i and reports 6i and want to work in the industry under designer 6i. can i do this? would going into designer 6i be difficult with forms 6i/pl/sql experience??
Its a different tool with a different type of development.

I am having a problem running report 9i from forms 9i (see below thread). How do I find out the name of the report server? I checked my C:\ids\reports\conf directory but don't see anything that gives me the name of the reports server. I also don't have a iashome directory.
Also, I just want to run the paper report (not the web version).

How to get info on whether the server is enabled and/or running,
I'm posting this for a customer who has been testing the capabilities of Business Intelligence Platform RESTful Web Service.
We're currently at 4.1 SP2 Patch09. But it seems that we're not being able to get the information that we need. For example a call to http://myBIserver:6405/biprws/infostore/16/children is giving us information about servers such as name or description but it is not telling us whether the server is enabled and/or running, what is the process ID etc.. The JSON response for the above request is:

As Anthony pointed out, currently it is not possible to get server details like the server state, PID etc. through BIP REST calls. Only prelimnary information about the infostore object is returned. You would need to use the BIP JAVA SDK to retrieve server details. However, we are in the process of enhancing BIP REST SDK. Can you please raise this on idea place under BIP>>SDK category?

Unable to save the ALV layout variant and display of selection screen on F4

The end user wants to directly select the layout variant (SLIS_VARI). I have used the following code to display the layout variant on selection screen. But, I am unable to save the variant on ALV. Whenever I am trying to select the layout variants (by doing F4 on selection screen) its displaying "No Layout found".

Vishal.The F4 will display you the existing layouts only. So you need to save the layout first & then execute the report again & check if you are getting F4 values for that field.
The Layout needs to get stored with variant.

It is not obligatory to enter a layout set name to open it. If a layout set is not specified, one must be opened with START_FORM.

Unable to start the Managed servers OIM and SOA after starting the Weblogic
Hi,
We are unable to start the any manager servers after starting the weblogic Admin Server.
We are getting the below error after trying to start the OIM or SOA managed servers.
Error: Exception thrown by the agent : java.rmi.server.ExportException: Port already in use: 5555; nested exception is:
java.net.BindException: Address already in use
We have also cross verified that the port 5555 is listening after starting the weblogic Admin server.
Please help us to start the managed servers in the weblogic 10.3.5.

Understanding the size of screen and images on it.
First, a quick thanks to you Todd and others who are providing excellent help. Even deciding what a given thing is can be problematic, let alone knowing where to look for an answer.
I created a credit sequence with 20 pt font. It seemed appropriate in the basic frame, which is perhaps a third or bit less than the screen width. I have the magnification ratio set at 100%, with view set at 1 at the bottom right of the screen.
However, when I previewed the credits at full screen using the check box in the preview pane, the font stayed the same size, rather than appearing much bigger as expected, and almost all of the text was visible on the screen, instead of most of it being concealed below the screen line. My first question is, which image is the correctly proportioned one? Or rather, how can I view the credits in the exact proportion as they would appear on another device, like a television or movie screen? And can I preview the credits on my full computer screen, to better simulate how the image would appear on a bigger screen?jmm2255 wrote:

Resolution and codecs do not directly effect each other. If a device or application does not have access to the codec a given media item uses, it will be unable to play the file, simple as that. Natively, there are many files formats that a Mac or Windows PC are unable to play, but most are usually playable with simple software installations. An iPhone or iPad, as another example, cannot play Flash video files.
I just cannot believe that in this day and age when it appears to an external observer -who is not tech savvy- that everything is interconnected, and people will watch the very same video content on everything from a computer (with all kinds of playback options, Windows media player, Real Player, and many others) to a TV, blackberry, iPad, DVD player, or even a fridge(!), that there is no conformity of standards, or that video cannot be played on multiple media sources. Unfortunately, the variables within the digital video world are greater and more confusing than ever before. Long gone are the days when video was just PAL or NTSC. There are thousands of permutations of video codecs, resolutions and playback devices to consider. Even YouTube provides multiple playback resolutions to suit different viewers, different platforms and different bandwidth issues. There are, of course, more common file formats and resolutions that are often preferable if the end user is unknown.
In general, design for the highest common denominator. You can easily make a big video smaller, but doing the opposite is very hard if you want top quality. So if your audience ranges from HD blu-ray watchers to low-end Youtube, design in HD (1080p) and then create multiple output resolutions as required.
Remember, AE is a design and compositing tool, not a compression tool. For the best results, render lossless files from After Effects, then use a dedicated compression tool like Adobe Media Encoder to create your final delivery files. -

As for oracle tables,each columns have values, and storing info about each column will generate anther table(as i think).So two table now.So will both the tables now be queered?Such a small table can be compared with a book that has only half a page with text. You don't need any index for that book. It is faster simply to read the whole book (it is only half a page long!). In database terms this would be a full table scan (FTS).
You need an index if the book is 100 pages thick. Usually most books will have several indexes. One at the start that tells you about the differnt chapters. And a glossary at the end, where you can look up certain keywords and you also get to know on wich page those keywords had been mentions.
Lets say you have a book about animals in Africa.
So when you search for a certain keyword you have two options. You keyword would be rhino.
FTS (Full table scan)
Either read the whole book from page 1 turning to page 2 and so on until you find the keyword. And if you find it you have to read on, because maybe the keyword is mentioned again at the very last page. You need to read the whole book.
You will find some parts about white and some parts about black rhinos.

Index access
You go to the glossary and search for the rhino keyword there.
Since the glossary is ordered you'll find it very fast. You will also know that you don't have to read the full glossary because it is sorted alphabetically. You then go to the page in the book (=ROWID of the table) where you find the keyword. If the glossary mentioned several pages, then you need go to all of the pages to get the full picture.
it will even more efficient if you search for a keyword like "tiger". Since a tiger does not live in Africa you would need to read the whole book just to find out that there is no "tiger"-content inside. If you use the glossary then you can fast scan the two glossary pages to see that nothing about "tiger" inside.
So an index is very efficient in telling you where to find something, but sometimes also in telling you what you will not find.

In order for CMP to work, the container must be able to operate with a single row in the database and be able to distinquish between them.
If your CMP->database table already has one column that's unique, then you declare that CMP field to be <primary-key-field>. If you have more than one column that makes a row unique, you must make your own primary key object. The way the container can tell the difference between these primary key objects is to compare them, therefore the hashCode and equals methods.
