Unable to use Broadband talk to get through menu s...

When I use my hub phone on broadband talk to dial a service that has menu options (press 1 for...) none of the buttons register.  If I dial 5 to use my landline, using the same phone I can use these menus.  Is broadband talk incompatible with these service?

Hi
I am going to have the same problem as you shortly.
I have contacted a company called Sipgate who tell me I should be able to port my BT voip number to them.
I have not investigated any further at this stage as I am in a fixed term contract with BT, but hope to be able to port my number with either Sipgate or another VOIP later in the year.
If you decide to give this a try let me know how you get on.

  • Why can't I use broadband talk to call Peru at the...

In the list of destinations there are lots of countries including Mexico and Argentina, but no Peru.
My wife is peruvian and makes calls several times a day. Hence the reason I set up the Broadband Talk.  She has to purchase cards from the post office and dial a prefix number. It would be nice to be able to use the Talk phone without having to do this. Is there any particular reason why Peru is not in the list, or is it an oversight?

    Hi SeanT,
Thanks for posting. I'm not really sure why Peru isn't on the list. It's most likely down to the network infrastructure that may not allow us to supply a quality service. I'll see what I can find out.
    Cheers

  • Using Broadband Talk as main phone line

Hi there, just looking for a bit of advice/guidance.
I've got a Home Hub 2.0 and the Hub Phone 2.1, so I'm pretty impressed with the set up, despite only using the phone on occasion.
All the phones in our house (about 5) are knackered and need replacing. I've been considering making a switch towards the BBT, by getting another 4 Hub Phone 2.1s (not paying BT prices mind...) and subscribing to the Anytime BBT calling plan. Currently we have the equivalent landline calling plan, so that could be cancelled.
My thinking is that the 5 phones could be distributed around the house in the same way that are current phones are, and then each room would have access to the BBT line primarily, and then the normal line by pressing 5.
Is there anything else I should consider before making this change? I am aware of the emergency calling provisions etc. Has anyone else set up their home like this? How is it going?!
    Many thanks,
    Tom

I have the original home hub, and have four hub phones dotted around the house.
Broadband talk does allow you to make a number of simultaneous calls using the same number, and also answer incoming calls on your normal phone line as well.
You can only make one outgoing call on your normal phone line, by dialling "5" from one of the phones.
As we make most of our calls in the evening or weekend, they are free, so we have no need for any extra calling plans.
Overall it works quite well. We do have a normal phone if there is a power cut, but we also have mobile phones anyway.
Remember also, you have a phone socket on the home hub which is connected to BBT.
I suspect that the new hub phones are probably better than the original ones, which can be a bit quiet.

  • Unable to use an image in a DVD menu background

I've been unsuccessful in using an image as the background in the DVD main menu in PE 9.  The image shows up correctly in the preview, but not in the burned DVD.  I'm a long time user of PE 2.0 and never had this issue.  I've tried different image sizes (720x486, 720x480, 640x480), different image formats (jpg, bmp, psd), and different menu templates with no success.  The only thing that worked was specifying a frame out of the video.  Please help so I don't create any more drink coasters!

    Barry,
    Welcome to the forum.
This appears to be a Bug in PrE 9, and there are several threads on the same issue. It seems that some Menu Sets perform OK, some will not accept a new background image, and some will accept it for either the Main, or the Scene Selection Menu, but not both.
I'll find a few of those, and link to this thread, for your reading. In the meantime, I would suggest filing a Bug Report with Adobe, so that they will know to work on correcting this problem.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Voicemail Broadband Talk

In April I subscribed to BT's Infinity service and after a day or so I setup my Broadband Talk number. I've used it a few times to make calls by plugging in an old handset into the Home Hub to make out going calls. When I wasn't using Broadband Talk for an out going call I unplugged the handset as I didn't have the voicemail service switched on.
I recently purchased a hub phone for my Home Hub so I could make more use of the service and also start to use it for incoming calls. As I have a phone always connected I thought I'd better switch on the voicemail service. I've logged into the Broadband Talk settings page (https://service.btbroadbandvoice.bt.com/selfcare/consumer/adminOverview.do) and then clicked on the link to add voicemail. I choose the option and click on submit and I always get the following message back
I've been trying to add voicemail for the last couple of days but every time I try I keep getting the same message. Which number or email address at BT do I need to contact about this?
Thanks for any help you can provide

  • Making Calls with Broadband Talk

    Hi Guys,
I was just wondering if someone could clear this up for me??
When making calls using Broadband Talk, do you have to dial the entire number (incl. STD Code) or should you just be able to make the call without this?
For example, I live in Derry, N.Ireland and the full number starts 02871. When dialling from a normal landline you would just dial "71" and the the rest of the number. However. if I do this using my BB Talk line, I get a Dead tone. I tried to make a call and entered the number with the full STD Code, puely on the off-chance it would work, and it did actually work!! Is this necessary or should I be able to make a call without the full STD Code??
    Cheers

I think you always have to enter the dialling code I'm afraid

  • Call charges for Broadband Talk

    Hi
I wonder if anyone can help. I have an unlimited anytime plan with BT and use Broadband Talk. As I understand it, calls from Talk fall under the same tariff as the main phone line, so I am confused as to why I get charged for calls to a local number, eg, a 11 min call to a local UK number at 1pm on a weekday cost me £1.09.
According the the BT tariff plan (http://www.bt.com/pricing/current/Cust_Opts_Res_boo/2-3230_d0e91.htm) this call should be free.
I am missing something or am I being charged when I should not be?
    Thanks

    Hi.
Unfortunately you are missing something I'm afraid. BBTalk is not the same as a normal landline and is treated as a different line - they each have different calling plans too depending on where you call.
    The tariff plan you show
    http://www.bt.com/pricing/current/Cust_Opts_Res_boo/2-3230_d0e91.htm
does actually show that the call you made will cost 11 x 7.95p plus any connection charge. At the very top if the page it shows that you need to pay the anytime plan cost of £6.20 per month. (My figures include vat)

  • ITunes is no longer syncing to Apple TV.  I have been using my Apple TV Gen 1 for 3 years with good success.  For reasons unknown to me, iTunes no longer syncs with my Apple TV.  It says/looks like it's syncing but never gets through the first song.

iTunes sees the Apple TV as a device.  I have it set to manual sync.  I have it set to sync my entire library (I have only 10 CDs in my library).  It says it is syncing.  The wheel goes round and round.  The song it is syncing is listed.  The number of songs that are to by synced is listed.  but it never gets through syncing the song.  I have also set it to sync my photos, but never gets to them.  I seem to have a good wireless connection to my Apple TV.  I am able to talk between my PC and my Apple TV, but now it won't sync.  Note:  I have been playing music on my Apple TV for 3 years with good success (with hundreds of songs), but it no longer seems to work like it did. Thanks.

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

To clarify for anyone who is still having any problems doing this.
    1. Unlock your phone with the carrier ( I know the process will work if it is jail broken but I am assuming you dont want to void the warranty on your phone) NOTE: even if you purchased the phone outright at Wal-Mart it is still locked to ATT so you will have to unlock the phone.  If it's already unlocked skip to step 2.  This works and will work even if you update the phone.
1a Here is the link to unlock a ATT iphone. Simply follow the instructions https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/client/en_US/
    2. Get a T- mobile SIM. Even if you don't want the service, if you feign interest, they will send you one for free or 99cents. If you need it now you can get one at a T-mobile store too.
    3. Once you have both your Straight talk SIM and your T-mobile SIM follow these instructions:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFFf5uqk18M
    4. If you have any remaining questions look at all the responses posted previously on this thread or check out the Howard Forums Wiki: http://wiki.howardforums.com/index.php/Straight_Talk_iPhone
Everything should work flawlessly at this point.  If not let me know and I'm happy to help when I can.  I hope this makes doing this very easy for everyone in the future. God Bless -J

  • Broadband Talk: Messaging Voicemail- unable to set...

I'm trying to set up the Broadband talk messaging service. I log into my broadband talk account and go to the Calling features option. Choose 'add voicemail to account. Only one option there to select the 'Voicemail - no extra charge'
I do this and everytime I get the message:
'Sorry we are not able to process your request. Please try after some time.'
I have waited not only a few minutes, a few hours and even a few days, still the same message. I have only recently got this set up and was on the phone for about an hour with a very helpful person and we eventually got the talk working after having to totally reset my hub to manufacturing settings and set everything back up again. I'm wondering if it is another glitch somewhere?
Any suggestions or do I need to spend more time to the call centre?

    Hi SeanT,
Thank you for posting. That does sound really frustrating. I can help you get your voice mail added to your Broadband Talk account. Email [email protected] with your BT account details, along with a link to this thread.

    Hi, JoseN33.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Try the steps in the first article below and see if that resolves your data issue.  However, with some carriers settings need to be manually entered in order to access their cellular data network.  The second article will walk you through that process.

Unable to open windows using boot camp.  Get message "The bless tool was unable to set the current boot disk."   I am using an Imac , Lion operating system, and Windows 7.  It worked a few days ago.  Any thoughts, Thank you.

Note that nowhere in the Boot Camp instructions does it tell you to use Disk Utility to format the Windows partition. The Boot Camp Assistant program creates the partition & sets the +partition scheme info+ of the disk as appropriate for the Windows installer but the Windows installer itself is responsible for formatting the new partition with the appropriate +file system scheme+ (NTFS for Windows 7).
If you follow the instructions in the Boot Camp Installation & Setup Guide to the letter you should have no problems installing Windows.

I assume these are POP accounts and all computers are set to remove from Server after downloading.
So on the non dominant ones... Mail Preferences>Accounts, highlight an account, Advanced tab, uncheck remove from Server, just have the main dominant one remove from server.
    Or get/setup IMAP accounts.
