Unable to view Applet in client machine.

I have one jsp (Main.jsp) in which i am embedding One.Class file by using the following tag:
<applet codebase = "http://localhost:8080/ExceleRATE/" code="One" height="350" width="650" alt="Applet Not Supported by this Browser" archive="http://localhost:8080/ExceleRATE/dom4j-1.6.1.jar,http://localhost:8080/ExceleRATE/One.jar">
This applet (One.java) reads the XML file and displays the data in tree structure.
I kept the One.class file, and all the jar files in the same folder where jsp is there. All the files are in tomcat/webapps/ExceleRATE (project folder).
This is working fine in the machine where i am running tomcat(for running applets separate setting neet to be made for java.policy file ..that i did in my machine and client machine....), but not working from the different machine, i.e client machine (here my machine will act as server).
I am getting the following error in client machine:

Can you please help me where I am doing wrong.
Thank in Advance..

Wherever you use http://localhost:8080 in your applet tag, it means:
"Browser, would you please download the applet from the web server running on the same machine as yourself on port 8080".
But you want it to come from the web server from where you downloaded the page. All the details here: [http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/misc/applet.html].

  • Unable to view applet in internet page

    I am using office pc and is forced to set up proxy server in order view the outside internet. I found that when I view pages with Java Applet inside, none of them can be displayed with the same error:

    Is there a "way" to solve this? I googled it but seemed no answer for my situation.

    Applets run client side - which means the relevant class files need to be downloaded to the client.
    Anything under the WEB-INF directory is not directly accessible by the client. Nothing under WEB-INF can be downloaded.
    ergo, specifying the WEB-INF directory as part of your applet codebase is a bad idea.
    I would suggest try copying the applet classes from under WEB-INF to some other place in your application.
    Also, you should probably specify the full class name of your Applet in the plugin tag.

    Just a guess: maybe you're behind a firewall, and you haven't configured your JVM to use the same firewall as the browser.

  • Unable to load applet on one machine, but runs fine on others

    Hi there
    I have created and deployed, successfully, a JavaFX applet which I tested on my development machine and a separate machine and all is fine. The Applet with its associated HTML, JNLP and JAR file reside on a webserver, and my testing was still successful (and another colleague tried also).
    I proudly announced the location to others within the organisation (sorry I am not able to share the URL) and one person reported that all was fine, they loaded and used the application, the other reported the following error message:
    Ignored exception: java.lang.NullPointerException
    exception: JNLP file error: xxx_browser.jnlp. Please make sure the file exists and check if "codebase" and "href" in the JNLP file are correct..
    java.io.FileNotFoundException: JNLP file error: xxx_browser.jnlp. Please make sure the file exists and check if the "codebase" an "href" in the JNLP file are correct.

         at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2Manager$appletExecutionRunnable.run(Unknown Source)
         at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown source)
    Exception: java.io.FileNotFoundException: JNLP file error: xxx_browser.jnlp
    This person, who is in a remote site (so not yet been able to visit the machine) is using Windows XP, IE 6.0. I have a machine which also runs this setup and can load the application.
    I am really unsure what could be the problem. I have even asked the user to load the Winter Olympics JavaFX visualisation to see if that works (it does).
    Can anyone give me any advise? I am guessing it is a problem local to that machine, rather than the JavaFX application?

    Hi there
    An update on this situation. I managed to visit said machine on Friday and found the following:
    1 - The error in the Java console is:
    java.io.FileNotFoundException: JNLP file error: XXX_browser.jnlp. Please make sure the file exists and check if "codebase" and "href" in the JNLP file are correct.
    2 - I was able to browse, and resolve, the XXX_browser.jnlp file
    3 - The client was able to load other JavaFX applets from the same server/website but they were not behind any password protection.
    4 - The client is able to use the JavaFX application via the XXX.jnlp file (i.e. web start)
    Whilst on site I noticed that IE was reporting "Could not find privacy policy for http://dl.javafx.com/ping.js". I added this site to the browsers accepted list, and marked this as Always allow this site to use cookies but to no avail.
    Remember, this site does work for another user.
    My thinking now is, when executing the URL to load the HTML you have to enter a password, (which we did), this loads the HTML which then tries to load the JAR file (in the same location) but for some reason it in turn cannot load it XX_browser.jnlp file and it is does not challenge for a username and password again (like it does when you run it as a web start).
    Any thoughts?

  • Unable to view Applets due to class not found error. Urgent

    We are currently facing issues in our upgrade to Java JRE 1.6 & above from JRE 1.4 on displaying certain information. Our applets are built in a way like at runtime it will access certain jar files ( tibco jar files) and use them to parse the incoming messages. The following will give a summary of the issue.
    We were using Jre 1.4 in our systems previously. With JRE 1.4, we have a system where we use java applets to display data over the network in the websites. The java applets will use a jar file (TIBRVJ.jar file available in C:\TIBCO\TIBRV\8.3\LIB\) folder. The way we facilitate this is by including –cp “C:\TIBCO\TIBRV\8.3\LIB\TIBRVJ.JAR in the Java runtime parameter settings. However post upgrade to JRE 1.6, we are getting errors in our systems due to the upgrade as specified below. the only way we are able to avoid this issue is by placing the Jar file in JRE/lib/ext folder. it also requires changes in our Java.policy file to provide access to this.
    Error Codes
    ‘java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/tibco/tibrv/TibrvMsgCallback”
    We would like to know why the tibrv. jar file is not picked from the classpath set on the Java Runtime Parameters, but being picked only after placing it in the ext/bin directory and changing Java policy files in JRE 1.6 and higher versions.

    Hi Can anyone please share your views on this issue.

  • How to find JRE Version on client machine

    My client machine does not have any class file, they are running web pages on web Browser.
    We have some specific plug-in based on JRE Versions (e.g. JRE 5 or JRE 6).
    Also we do not have permission to run an applet on client machine as its a security concern.
    We have following senerio
    Application server on Machine-1
    Web Server on Machine-2
    Client on Machine-3
    We need JRE version of Machine-3.
    Please provide me a solution.
    Thanks in advanced.

    Old post but replying anyways so that the solution can be used for later
    For Firefox/Mozilla/Netscape this can be done through javascript like below
         for (i=0; i<navigator.plugins.length; i++) {
         document.write(navigator.plugins.name);
         document.write("::::");
         document.write(navigator.plugins[i].filename);
         document.write("::::");
         document.write(navigator.plugins[i].description);
         document.write("<p>");
    It prints out "Java Plug-in::::NPJava12.dll::::Java Plug-in 1.4.1_02 for Netscape Navigator (DLL Helper)"
    from which the plug-in version can be found out
    For IE :
         try{
              var obj= new ActiveXObject("WScript.Shell");
              if (obj!= null) {
    //Version for the installed JRE
    var ver = shell.regRead("HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\JavaSoft\\Java\ Runtime\ Environment\\CurrentVersion");
              alert(ver);
         }catch(e){}

    Hi,
    I have created a sequence I can able to see odbc entries in virtual regisrty of the sequence. But on client machine I was

    Thanks in Advance.

    Have you tested the ODBCs aren't there (and/or the app doesn't work), or are you only looking at regedit?
    http://blog.gridmetric.com/2011/09/26/possible-caveats-in-mixing-32-bit-and-64-bit-app-v-packages-and-environments/
    We have seen sometimes where the registry keys aren't visible under wow6432 node, but are really there.  I would suggest opening up the ODBC (odbcad32.exe) in the bubble, and see how things look.

    Hi,
    If you have any issues with Crystal reports .Net SDK's then please post your questions in [Crystal Reports .NET SDK forum|SAP Crystal Reports, version for Visual Studio;.
    That forum is monitored by qualified technicians and you will get a faster response there. Also, all .NET SDK queries remain in one place and thus can be easily searched in one place.
    Thank you for your understanding,
    In order to run the reports on the server where Crystal Reports is not installed, you need to install the runtimes of the Crystal Reports on the server.
    Runtimes of Crystal Reports contains all the requiered dlls of CR to run the reports where CR in not installed.
    Link to download CR runtimes - click [here|https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/bobj_download/main.htm]
    The Wiki [here|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/CrystalReportsforVisualStudio.NETRuntimeDistribution-Versions9.1to12.0] is currently the best resource for CR.NET Runtime information.
    Hope this will help!!

  • Apparent gap in java applet security on client machine

    I know about signing applets, and both the new and original security models for applets. For my purposes, the original security model for applets is just about perfect. My applets do not need access to the client machine hardware, nor do they need to access any machine other than that which provides them to the client (at least at present).
    What I have been told is that it is not possible for a server of any kind (DB, servlets, &c.) to authenticate an applet. The claim was made that all the security was designed for client security and that a developer's only option is to trust the client machine.
    I can exchange information among my servers over SSL, and secure communications between by servers and applet clients. However, what is there to prevent a bad guy from breaking into a client machine and then capturing and modifying the applet I am relying on to protect the client's sensitive data? Signing the applet tells the user that the applet has not been modified from what I have produced, and so the user should feel confident enough to run it. But what if the applet and related web page is cached, and someone who has, legitimately or not, access to the machine and tries to use the cached copy for inappropriate purposes?
    If my servers can not verify that the applet code accessing them is mine, rather than a variant created to mimic my applet, then that certainly creates a risk for my code, but doesn't it also create a security risk for the client? After all, it is the client's sensitive data I am trying to protect, and I can envision a situation in which a bogus applet mascerades as mine and sends that sensitive data to a bad guy's machine; all this while giving the user the illusion that his data is safe.
    The gap here is either in my understanding of this technology or a gap in java security, so I'll put the question another way also. Is it possible for a server (e.g. an application server such as Tomcat or Sun's application server) to verify that the applet code used to try to connect with them is in fact the applet code that was signed on and served from the same machine and not malicious code masceraing as my code? If so, how does that work, and how does the programmer do it?
    Thanks,
    Ted

  • How to retrieve system Information on client machine Using Applets

    How to retrieve video card information on client machine using applets and JNI, please suggest me on this
    Thanks
    GReddy

    1. Research platform specific OS API to do whatever you want with video cards
    2. Write C/C++ code to wrap the functionality in 1 into something looks closer to what you want to see in java
    3. Write a class that models the functionality of 2 with native methods.
    4. Write the native methods of 3 such that they call the methods of 2.
    Note that steps 1 and 2 have NOTHING to do with jni nor java. So you start by looking somewhere else for the answers to that.

    I would suggest looking at what might be different between those clients and the others that work.  Do they run the same antivirus version?  Did they receive any recent updates (windows or AV)?  Are they potentially on a different network
    (sometimes a wireless network is configured to be different from the wired)?  Are they getting any different group policies?
    We've seen the antivirus web control block access before in my environment.
