Undisclose showDetailItem instead of overflow icon

Hello,
Considering af:panelAccordion with many disclosed items. If too many items are disclosed, some of them are hidden under overflow arrow icon which isn't quite handy.
I would like to undisclose the items that will be hidden under overflow.
Is there any programmatic handler to tell if showDetailItem is actually visible or hidden?
Thanks.
ADF 11R2

Hi,
I would like to undisclose the items that will be hidden under overflow.
You need to provide the UI space for this. So either add the accordion to a layout component that stretches or (as mentioned in previous post) add it to a panelGroupLayout with layout set to scroll so that you see a scroll bar

• HELP! Files won't open and previously had Firefox icon instead of DW icons! Leap Year thing?

Hi! I went to update my website, which I do every night before the first day of every month and all the files had a FIrefox icon instead of the usual Dreamweaver one. I have shut down, reinstalled DW MX 2004 but the files still do not open. The icons have now changed to DW but they are not opening with right click, opening from Applications folder, double clicking the file, from get info and open with DW. I am stumped. HELP! Need to update for March 1st.
Is it something to do with Leap Year 29th Feb? Checked the clock in preferences but can't see how this affects it.
Firefox is always updated but the latest version does not seem to be as efficient as previous upgrades. We installed Chrome as well. Do they interfere with each other?

Hi Ken
I wish the 7.1 updater download had helped but it didn¹t. All the files
were backed up before the installation, which went fine.
Mac 10.5.8
We used Disc Warrior to defrag the hard drive, which did not make a
difference.
We recently started using Chrome, so now have 3 browsers in the dock,
Safari, Firefox and Chrome. Do they interfere in any way with each other?
The files, which I hadn¹t touched for a month as I update on a monthly
basis, initially had the Firefox icon.

• Thumbnail instead of Adobe icon

how can I display thumbnail instead of Adobe icon on a pdf file in Windows7 using 64bit

I was using win 7 - 32 bit and the pdf files used to get displayed with first page of pdf in thumbnail, but now ever since i have downloaded win 7 home 64 bit i am not able to see the same. Also , i downloaded the ADE 2.0 which is not similar in looks to the previous one (brown background)and is less user friendly.

• Can "Save for Web" generate a thumbnail instead of an icon?

Can "Save for Web" generate a thumbnail instead of an icon? Or can the icon be replaced by a thumbnail? Thanks.

I don't think Save for Web embeds any icons or thumbnails, because the whole point of Save for Web is to keep the file size down as much as possible for Web use by not including anything except the image and some text metadata that you choose. If you're seeing a thumbnail or icon, it was probably generated by your operating system and may only be local to your desktop.
If you do want to embed a thumbnail or icon into a JPEG file, you might get one by choosing File > Save As instead. The Save As command is intended to give you the most complete file possible, where Save for Web is designed to give you the smallest file possible.

• "" instead of Emoji icon on iCloud calendar

Dear Apple Community,
my first question is: Apple, are you kiding me (us)?! The problem is, after 2 weeks, still there! Just swich that Emoji option "on" again. That's what you have switched "off" the last iCloud Server Problem, isn't it?
Well, since the "iCloud: Calendar and Reminders - 03/14/2012 17:00 PDT - 03/16/2012 15:30 PDT" (http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/systemstatus/) server problem some Emoji icons aren't anymore supported by an iCloud calender.
F.ex.: If my girlfriend creates an event at her calender, which is open for me (via her iCloud account - I use my own iCloud/iTunes Account) with an Emoji icons in the title, I see this "", instead of the Emoji Icons. This happens f.ex. with the "Fork & Knife"-Emoji Icon. The "Heart"-Emoji Icon is shown correctly.
I also found out that if iCloud pushes the new created event to my iCal (on my Mac) or to the iCal of my girlfriend (on her Mac) the Emoji icons are also replaces by this "" sign. o.O
After all, the old events, who was created before that iCloud Server still have their Emoji icons. Only new created events are affected. (After a switch on/off of the iCal in the iCloud on my Mac, all the old events now have also the "" sign.)
Note: The events are always shown correctely on the device on which they are created. F.ex. if I create the event (with an Emoji icon) on my iPhone, it's shown correclty on my iPhone, but on my girlfriends' iPhone or Mac and even on my own Mac it has this "" sign. Really strange.
P.S.: I already feedbacked it to iCloud Feeback. (http://www.apple.com/feedback/icloud.html)
If you have the same problem, it would be good to feedback it!

• White Squares instead of Application Icons in Switch Applications

My "Switch Applications" (Command-Tab) has started sporadically showing a white square instead of one of the icons for the applications I have open. I can still click through to them, but it is a little disconcerting.
No particular application seems to be involved more than the others - Firefox, Finder, iTunes, and a Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client have all done this at one time or another today.
This may be related with the other problem that arose today: some application sub-windows sometimes appear simply as white window. (I mention this here because it may be relevant, but this problem has a separate thread: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=13094719#13094719)
Does anyone know how I can fix this? Thank you.

Do a backup.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Re-launch Finder by restarting the computer and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

• Undisclosed showDetailItem - af:dropTarget

I'm using Jdev 11g R1.
I'm unable to drop a row from an af:table to an undisclosed af:showDetailItem. If the af:showDetailItem is disclosed, it is OK. I have 8 showDetailItems in an af:panelAccordion and I want to be able to drop a row from af:table on to any of these showDetailItems.
I tried it as follows:
I created a af:toolbar under toolbar facet of my showDetailItem.
Added af:dropTarget under this button.
Tried dragging and dropping the collection onto the button just created.
This is only working when the showDetailItem is disclosed (i.e. expanded). If the showDetailItem is not disclosed, I don't even see the button.
Is there a way to do this?
Thanks,
Jagadish.

Hi,
I eventually tested this and it does not do a drop when you drag and drop to the header but only if you move it over the toolbar buttons. This said, the behavior in the accordion is consistent in that you can only drag and drop to the active panel

• Generic icons instead of application icons

In Finder windows, I regularly get generic document icons instead of those belonging to the associated application, e.g., generic PDF icons instead of the Adobe Reader icon (which is what I's like to show up). Solutions? Thank you.

• A question mark (?) instead of a icon for imovie

I have tired to use imovie, but my icon in the dock is a question mark. I have hooked up the USB cable and got nothing, like it did not even exist. I bought this computer new a few years ago, and I think I am out of applecare. This is supposed to be simple, but it is not working out that way. Where do I start with this thing?

The symbol in your Dock is just an alias.
iMovie should be in your "Applications" folder.
Remove the questions mark from the Dock and drag iMovie to the Dock.
Also iMovie requires Firewire, not USB. Firewire is also called i.Link and IEEE1394.

• How to make it a default for all received messages to not preview the attachment but instead show the icon? (mac mail.app)

Hi
I am having trouble with large incoming mail attachments.
When I receive a large attachment (pDf) the useful mail preview feature attempts to show a preview of the attachment. Unfortunately this is causing a lot of trouble as some PDFs are extremely large and therefore take time to open/preview. If I right click the attachment and select view as icon, the problem with that specific message ceases as the attachment is no longer previewed.
How can I make it the default for all attachments in received messages to only be shown as a icon and not previewed?

In Terminal,
defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -bool Yes

• How do I get website specific icons instead of generic icon display in Bookmarks?

Hi,
Some websites with their Bookmarks display their specific icons, while others only generic ones (Blue circle on white squares).
With the earlier versions no such problem existed.
I'm referring to an example like amazon.com, which displays only a generic type as opposed to IE.
Their functionality is not affected, only the esthetics.
Any suggestion(s) for solution?
Thank you

Hi,
You could install the bookmark favicon changer addon [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/bookmark-favicon-changer/ bookmarkfavicon changer]
or identicons addon to automatically generate favicons for sites without one
[https://addons.mozilla.org/En-us/firefox/addon/identfavicon/ IdentFavIcon]
Hope this helps, if not do let me know.

• How do i customize my bookmarks toolbar into small icons instead of just icons and text?

i can only have ten bookmarks on my bookmarks toolbar because i can't seem to get the small icons to work. the small icons works on the navigation toolbar, but not the bookmarks toolbar.

You have an item "My Web Search . . ." plug-in which is a well known troublemaker.
You should work through the following removal instructions as far as you need to (Google for information if you have any doubts.)
Courtesy of '''Helper7677''' -
You have an item installed that is considered malware/spyware/adware. To see the Plugins reported with your question, click "More system details..." to the right of your original question or, on the Firefox menu, click Tools > Add-ons > Plugins.
My Web Search Plugin Stub for 32-bit Windows
This type of pest is usually installed along with software you download from the internet; generally free programs, but not always. Carefully watch for "extra" items that will be installed and un-check or opt-out of them.
You can check to see if you have any of these from [Fun] Web Products" installed:
Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs, click on any that you find and click "Remove": Ask.com Bar, My Search Bar, MyWay Speed Bar, My Web Search Bar, Fun Web Products Easy Installer
See:

You MAY need to change a preference if when typing one or two words in the URL/Location/Address Bar sends you to some search page other than the one you expect. To reset your default URL/location bar search provider:
Enter about:config in the address/URL bar and press the Enter key
If you see a warning, accept it (Promise that you will be careful)
Filter = keyword.URL
Below the Filter, if keyword.URL is bold, right-click on keyword.URL and choose "Reset"

• Undisclosed Recipients instead of Group Name

Hi,
Created "Test Group" in address book.
Dragged test names/addresses to it.
Opened mail preferences and under Composing, unchecked "When sending to a group, show all member addresses."
Composed email: typed Test Group in To field, typed in Subject line, created message and sent.
When I looked at emails received by my test people, the To: field doesn't say Test Group anymore. It now says "undisclosed recipients." I tried again putting the Test Group in the bcc: field (I read that in another post), but same thing happens.
How do I get Mail to keep the Group Name in the To: field? Undisclosed recipients is just rude.
Thanks.

• I just restore my Mac, and now instead the dock icon I have question marks.

The only icons I have are: finder, documents and downloads.
I also used to have parallels and now I don't.

Drag off the ?'s and let go, (poofy) and just drag and drop into the Dock new copies from the original applications icons in your applicaiotns folder to make new aliases.

• Smilies from Outlook as J and L instead of symbols / icons

Hi alltogether,
if i receive an e-mail from an outlook client with smilies like / :-) or / :-( they are displayed als symbols in lockscreen and in the mail overview. But when I open that e-mail, the smilies aren’t displayed as symbols anymore. Only as J or L. How can I get rid of it? I want the smilies displayed as in the lockscreen and in the mail overview.
Thanks a lot.
Kind regards

Wish I could offer a reply, but I'm posting with the same request. I've used and loved Macs since 1985 and the ONLY thing (Apple, are you reading these posts?) - The ONLY thing that keeps me from buying an iPhone is the lack of a to do/task list. I use and like MobileMe's sync features and I'm either at work or at home 99% of the time, so it's not that much of a hindrance. I'm not a "power" cell phone user either, but my Palm Pilot is down to holding a charge for an hour or so before it needs to dock and my motorola phone is losing life on it's 2nd battery, so it would be a great time for me to get an iPhone. But, I'm not going to do it until there is some way to sync with iCal... a stand alone app doesn't do it for me, nor should it. I can't imagine that the map features on an iPhone would be deemed more important than tracking one's to do items, but Apple must still be seeing it that way.
The new update for iPhones doesn't seem to suggest that this feature has been added... I would think they would be trumpeting it on the front page, if they had. I'll just wait......
