Undocumented problem solved with 16-bit pcmcia and irq error

I am having the exact same problem as described in the following post:
"Undocumented problem solved with 16-bit pcmcia and irq error."
"I'm using a DAQ Card (AI-16E-4), which didn't work properly in MAX. MAX complained that the card didn't respond to an interrupt request.
I've had this issue for a while, but dropped it, since NI support told me nothing could be done about it. Meanwhile, a seemingly unrelated problem with a wireless pcmcia network card arose. Cisco had no clue what was wrong with their card either, but I found Microsoft Knowledge Base Article Q327947. It seems that Win2k (they claim SP3 and up) disables ISA to PCI routing, which is what causes this problem.
To fix it, open regedit
and navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Pcmcia\Parameters"
edit or create the DWORD value "DisableIsaToPciRouting" and set the value data to 0.
See Microsoft's article for further details: http://support.microsoft.com/default. aspx?scid=kb;en-us;327947"
The difference is that I am using WinXP and the Regedit fix does not solve the problem. Does anybody know how he was able to continue to use the card before he solved the problem? The card works fine in MAX, but errors out in LabVIEW.

Hey Willy,
Here some additional suggestions that have corrected some PCMCIA difficulties in the past besides the registry edit you suggested.
1. General Troubleshooting to Verify Correct Hardware and Software Installation
Uninstall the PC Card hardware through Device Manager
Remove the PC Card from the laptop
Uninstall the NI-DAQ software
Follow the normal installation instructions (the most important step to remember for Plug-n-Play Operating Systems is to install the software first)
Try the latest service packs for Win 2000 or Win XP
Try the PC Card in a different laptop
Try a different slot in the laptop. On certain laptops PC Cards have been successfully installed in the top PCMCIA slot instead of the bottom.
2. Additional Troubleshootin
g for PC Cards that Return IRQ Conflicts
For E-Series DAQCards:
Update to NI-DAQ 6.9.3 first and then update NI-PAL to version 1.6.1 (included exe file).
Download the attached NI-PAL (ni-cdu1610.exe), and run the installer. When receiving the error "The device is not responding to the first IRQ Level" in Measurement and Automation Explorer, try this method of upgrading NI-PAL
3. Additional Troubleshooting Steps
Try disabling the 3COM adapter, and any other extraneous (for now) devices like any built in serial and parallel ports. The best way to do this is probably to disable them in the BIOS. If the PCMCIA card works properly then try to reconfigure disabled devices one at a time.
Make sure the latest BIOS is installed.
Check for any unusual PCMCIA drivers or other software that might interfere with the PCMCIA driver.
I hope this helps.

  • What do you think of this book: "Programming and Problem Solving with Java"

    Hello Everyone:
This may be a strange post but I am wondering if anyone has read this book and what do you think of it?
    Book Information
Title: Programming and Problem Solving with Java
Authors: Neell Dale, Chip Weens, Mark Headington
    Publisher: Jones & Bartlett
    Thanks for any comments

No believe me the book is bad! The only reason I asked is I am in a university class that uses those two books for there course. The author messed up on HelloWorld.java with 4 errors at compile time! How can anyone be that stupid since they are the ones who are supposed to be teaching me the fundamentals of Java. Anyhow I just wanted other people's thoughts about the books.
    Thanks again for your input.

  • WIFI problems solved with D-Link USB WIFI adapter...

I have a brand new Macbook Air and I have persistent problems connecting to my home wifi network. Sometimes I can connect to the router but not the internet, but usually Airport won't connect at all: it keeps asking me for the password for our home network (even though it's stored), so I re-enter the password, but it still can't connect. When it gets to this point I know that I either have to live without internet for the rest of the day, or disrupt my work and everyone else in the household by rebooting my computer and reseting the router (sometimes just one of these actions will work, but it's unpredictable).
So I bought a D-Link DWA-125 USB wireless adapter and installed drivers from Ralink (http://www.ralinktech.com/support.php?s=3) and it pretty much solves the issue.
I don't know what further proof Apple needs that this is a problem with the Air and not the internet/router/etc. It's rather comical that I have to use an ugly old USB adapter to get a brand new Macbook Air to connect to internet in my own home.

I've had my Macbook for 2 yrs and the wifi basically never worked - only when I'm right next to the router, at school, or of course the Apple Store. I tried to get apple to fix it under AppleCare, but since it was working perfectly in the store, they said there was nothing they could do.
If your Mac works well at school, or the Apple Store but not at home, the problem definetly  is not the Mac and therefore there is no need to buy a external usb wifi device.
You better will fix the settings of your home router and after that your Mac will be fast and smooth on your home wifi.
I've had only on very rare situations a problem with d-link routers over the years and think (if not damaged) even your d-link will work pretty good with your Mac.
Would you be so kind and explain the settings of your home router and what model it is?

  • PE7 or PE9 - What problems are with 64 bit or Windows 7

I'm upgrading to a new computer.  Are there any bad problems with upgrading to 64 bit - I now have 32 or Windows & - I now have XP.  I currently have PE7 and it works great except the hotsync quit working a month after I got it last year.  I just use the upload on photoshop.com to go around this.  I'd appreciate any help as I'm buying a new system in about a week.

well PSE 7 is compatible with 64 bit as well as with Win 7 machine. Should work well on your system.

  • R/w Quicktime on Win7-64 bit with 64-bit Premiere and AE?

Does CS5 running in 64 bit (not using 32 bit CS4 version) on Win7-64 have the ability to read and write Quicktime files?
Is this for both CS5 64 bit Premiere and AE?
    Does it work well?
    Thanks!

ProRes decoding--that is, playback--is supported and available on Windows (all platforms). However, encoding to ProRes is not possible; this is not an Adobe limitation, but rather, an Apple limitation, as there is no ProRes encoder included or available for Windows. Any ProRes file that I've tried--SD or HD--has been usable in Premiere on Windows. I haven't tried the 4444 variety, but if the decoder is available, it'll playback. ProRes 422 HQ should be no problem, though.
Here's a screenshot of a ProRes 422 HQ clip successfully loaded into the Windows version of Premiere Pro CS5:

I've got a similar problem with an old Dell Optiplex equipped with an Intel 845G integrated video adapter. Stock Kernel 2.6.34-ARCH is installed, along with xorg-server 1.8.1-902-1, and xf86-intel-video 2.11.0-2.
However instead of flickering the screen, or freezing for a split second or two, my screen just locks up completely.  It occurs randomly at any time using any program (even just an xterm), but most frequently after the computer has been on for about an hour or two. Subsequent attempts to start X just ends up leaving me with a black screen and a moveable mouse cursor. The only way I can get back into X at all is to reboot the computer.
Also oddly enough, this problem appears less often without any xorg.conf file than it does when I have even the most basic xorg.conf file.
Update: the latest intel video driver (xf86-video-intel 2.12.0) from upstream freedesktop.org sources limits the freeze up and gpu hang errors for me. The only time they crop up is in special instances of using sdl or other 3D related operations.

  • Problem with 64-bit OS and P55-GD65

I recently got this board and first installed Windows 7 64-bit, but experienced bluescreens while copying files over network. Switching to a WLAN adapter didn't help. Also ran memtest and chkdsk of course. I then tried Vista 64-bit, which was even more unstable and the bluescreens appeared more or less at random. They were never related to a specific driver, but various parts of Windows kernel with hardware related STOP codes. Finally I installed Windows 7 32-bit and it appears to run fine so far.

It's looking for the ACPI irq holder driver in Vista 64 on my end. Nothing in the device manager is jacked up though. I haven't found the fix either. I have googled it and it seems to be common amongst the P55 chipsets. BUT it seems that everyone that gets on their soap box over it has a GD65 or GD80. Gigabyte, Biostar, ASrock and ASUS have the same issue. I suspect that may be why DFI hasn't released anything P55ish yet. They got enough issues without that one too.    I hope there is a simple fix to this. I suspect it may have to do with my older memory not running it at spec (Corsair XMS3 1.8v set to 1.65v so I don't blow stuff up) but I won't know for sure til I get the new correct memory on the board to give it a run.

  • HP 1320 Printer with Airport Extreme Problem Solved with Leopard

This may be of interest. I appear to have solved my printing problems using an Airport Extreme with an HP 1320 printer.
It appears that all of the options for the printer must be specified. These options include the "Fit to Page" option in Print&Fax/Options&Supplies/Driver; the "Media Type" in Print/Finishing; the "Printer Resolution", "Resolution Enhancement", and "HPEconoMode" all in Print/Image Quality. If all of these are specified, the printer will print without user intervention.
    Hope this helps,
    David

There are no specific settings on the Apple router to allow a PC to connect. It broadcasts the same signal for all.
Have you checked the Windows firewall on the PCs to see if that, or possibly the anti-virus software is blocking the attempted connection?
I've had both XP and Vista machines, and in each case I had to go into the Firewall settings to tell the application to "allow" the connection that was being blocked. No problems at all after that. Not sure if this is your issue or not, but it would be the first place I would look.

  • Log-in Problem Solved: Safari 5.1.4 and Merrill Lynch / BOA

Problem: Like many other posters here, I had troublewith my Bank of America and Merrill Lynch websites after upgrading to Safari 5.1.4. When I went to My Merrill website, I saw a space to type in my username, but the 'Continue' button below it remained grayed out, preventing me from logging on. When I finally went onto the My Merrill website (via BOA), most of the links would not respond to clicks.
BOA/Merrill Lynch Web Support they told me that there was nothing wrong with their website and showed me how Firefox worked fine with their website. The problem appears to be specific to Safari.
Solution: I highlighted Safari in Finder and went to the 'Get Info' box. There, I unchecked the 'Open in 32-bit mode' box and restarted Safari. That fixed my problem with the BOA and Merrill Lynch wesites, and allowed to me to log on .
I hope this post helps others dealing with this problem.

  • Podpress problems, especially with regards to formatting and coding

Here is my RSS url: http://www.regrettablesincerity.com/?feed=podcast
I've been having a lot of problems trying to figure out the coding that goes with files that were too large (over 8 MB) to be uploaded through Wordpress, and had to be uploaded via FTP.
In Podpress' general settings, the URI link is: http://www.regrettablesincerity.com/wp-content/uploads
The suggestion for the load paths for media directory is: /home/content/e/l/m/elmooxygen/html/wp-content/uploads
I'm assuming that this refers to the larger files, so do I put my website's name before the /home? And if so, what do I put in the article itself? [Located here: http://www.regrettablesincerity.com/?p=4513
    I've gone with: http://www.regrettablesincerity.com/home/content/e/l/m/elmooxygen/html/wp-conten t/uploads/audio/Outlook%20Radio%20Interview%20Ex-Gay.mp3
I've tried a myriad of a variations, without the %20, removing the word uploads, etc. No matter which I've tried, Podpress can't figure out how big or how long the file is, insisting it is 1 byte. I've made the proper correction and it says as much in my feed link, but if you click on the specific file on the feed page, it is different than the URL I provided, and will not change back. It now reads as: http://www.regrettablesincerity.com/podpress_trac/feed/4513/0/Outlook%20Radio%20 Interview%20Ex-Gay.mp3 I don't know why the podpress_trac thing is in there, but it won't go back to what I told no matter what.
My overall goal is to be able to just have the RSS point to a specific page which has all of my director interviews and podcasts: http://www.regrettablesincerity.com/?page_id=846 However, once I tried that, the description given for the podcast on Itunes (only the first one, the Rolf De Heer interview, seemed to be read by the feed) was incorrect and it also said that the length of the podcast was 1 minute and 1 second, when it is in fact well over an hour. On top of that, you couldn't download it at all.
Now I don't mind if I have to put the podcasts in individual posts if that solves the problem, but what about when there are more than one audio file in a specific post, because I broke them up in parts? I did a 3 part interview here: http://www.regrettablesincerity.com/?p=3921 As you can see in my feed link, http://www.regrettablesincerity.com/?feed=podcast , it only lists the first file, not all three.
The smaller issues have to do with Itunes and my feed link ignoring the fact that I've changed the description within the specific settings for Itunes section in Podpress, but it still shows the original version, no matter what I do (this is a problem because some of the podcasts are in posts with film reviews, and so the articles have different explanations than would work in Itunes for a potential downloader). Also, my stats test fails in the general settings section of Podpress. I tried all different combinations, at the moment it is: Use WP permalinks for the Method and Full for the logging. A weirder problem is that when I have the Podpress plug-in activated, Wordpress will no longer give me any resize options when uploading a photo, I have to do the cropping on outside software.
    Below is my feed link:
    http://www.feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.regrettablesincerity .com%2F%3Ffeed%3Dpodcast
It has some problems that I have no idea how to solve, since I've even tried to correct the "object" issue, but Wordpress puts the word back in when I hit update. The enclosure problem, I have no clue on, because there's no text I can find to delete. Line 112 is a mystery too, because I don't even know where that line would be.
Thanks to anyone who manages to read this entire post, let alone make suggestions. I've spent several weeks trying to figure this all out but have been stymied in terms of help by all manner of Apple customer service reps and there's no contact option on Podpress' main page. I'm sure I'll think of more issues I'm having if I tried, so I better stop before those who browse this topic grow far more impatient.

To answer a couple of your queries:
The FeedValidator comments mostly refer to things inside the 'content:encoded' tag which is not relevant to iTunes.
Each 'item' tag can only contain one enclosure. The second enclosure will be ignored.
The '%20' business is because you have spaces in your filenames. Spaces are not allowed in a URL and so browsers and programs writing feed replace them with the HTML code for a space. This shouldn't cause problems.
Your main difficulty seems to be in providing a valid URL for your episode media files. If these are being hosted by Wordpress then it's something you will have to take up with them. Most people upload the files to a server or an iDisk and place the URL in the feed (the episodes don't have to be on the same server as the feed): really the URL should be directly to the feed rather than using a script to call it or a redirect.

  • SAP 4.6c with 32 bit kernel and Windows 2003 EE 64 bit - memory issues?

    Dear Colleagues.
My apologies for this simple question. I would appreciate your assistance and expertise for this as I think I have confused myself and I would appreciate clarification.
Running an SAP 4.6c system on SAP Kernel 46D_EXT2 32-bit with Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition 64-bit and ORACLE 10.2 64 bit.
Could you confirm that there is still memory address space limitations due to the 32-bit SAP kernel?
It is the SAP Kernel that determines the addressable operating system limit for R/3 extended memory under Windows NT?
Do I still need to set the 3GB option on the system to allocate more than 2.5GB of SAP buffers and extended memory space?
I have taken a look at SAP Notes 110172 and 129813, but I just need clarification?
    Thanking you in advance.
    Kind Regards,
    Alcatz

    > Could you confirm that there is still memory address space limitations due to the 32-bit SAP kernel?
    Yes.
    >> It is the SAP Kernel that determines the addressable operating system limit for R/3 extended memory under Windows NT?
On a 64bit OS it is a bit different, effectively you can use 4 GB per workprocess.
    > Do I still need to set the 3GB option on the system to allocate more than 2.5GB of SAP buffers and extended memory space?
    No.

  • ZyXEL iChat connection problem solved with updated firmware

    Hi,
bought a new ADSL modem (ZyXEL Prestige 660H-61) and was unable to do video iChat with one particular person. She was/is using ZyXEL modem as well. Tried every setting with no success and noticed, when trying to find solution here, that other people are having problems as well with ZyXEL modems.
The firmware I had was V3.40(PE.9). As a last resort I updated the firmware to V3.40(PE.10) and it indeed helped. I can now call and receive iChat video calls also from the person using ZyXEL modem.
    HTH,

    Hi Seppo,
Welcome To The Apple Discussion Pages.
And this was without changing the port in IChat to 443 ?
Sounds like Zyxel have pulled their finger out at last.
