Uninstalled software deployed by SCCM still remains in Installed Applications

Hi experts
I noticed when we manually uninstalled a software which was deployed via SCCM, in Software Center, under Installed Applications, the software is still listed as installed there. 
I know the only way to make the software unlisted under Software Center is to remove the software deployment on the Primary Site Server, refresh the client policy and the software will disappear from the Software Center, but that means it will disappear for
all the other computers which will need the software as well. I don't think this is a workable solution.
Possible to share if the uninstalled software will automatically disappear from the Installed Application to Available Application? If yes, how long would it take, does it depend on the next cycle where the SCCM client get new policies from the Primary Site
server?
The reason why I am asking this is because it might confuse the end user.
User: I thought you have uninstalled the software!
IT: Yes we did
User: Then why is it still listed under Installed Application in Software Center. It is bugging me! You didn't do your job.

You could check AppEnforce.log and CIAgent.log to confirm the current state for this application after running the Application Deployment Eval Cycle.
1. Find the ScopeID of the application in AppEnforce.log.
2. According to the ScopeID, check the current state for this application.

    An application tells me a new update is available (e.g. "iTunes 7.5 is available") but +software update+ reports to me there was no update! Also, i had to download manually Mac OS X 10.5.1!

    It seems as if you have your application in a sub-folder (still within Applications) that Leopard doesn't recognize them. They have to be in the root level of the Applications folder.
    This was also the case in Tiger. It seems as if Apple could easily address this issue and have Software Update look in sub-folders within the Applications folder.

  • Automating Software Deployment using SCCM Powershell cmdlets

    I am trying to automate our Software Update deployment procedure. However I am having problems trying to download software updates associated to a Software Update Group using  Start-CMSoftwareDeployment cmdlet.
    In this instance, I have a Software Update Group with one update KB2817369. When I use  Start-CMSoftwareDeployment  cmdlet, I get the error message "Warning: The object <Name of Software Update> cannot be downloaded".
    Any ideas how I can automate the download of the security updates associated to a Software Update Group ?

    Hello Prabha,
    I had a look at Automatic deployment rules but I do not think this would work in our environment because I just want to be able to download the software updates for a specific Software Update Group and at a later date create the corresponding Deployment
    Package.
    The process I am trying to automate is:-
    1) Create Software Update Group with appropriate software updates
    2) After removing any redundant software updates from the Software Update Group, download the software updates
    3) Create a Software Update Deployment package and deploy to collections.

  • SCCM OSD Reference Image / Install Application Failure

    We are running 2012 R2 CU2 and are trying to build and capture a reference image for windows 8.1, his is not a MDT task Sequence.  The image (WIM) seems to lay-down correctly however none of the applications seem to install and I believe it is because
    the default build and capture sequence never actually logs in as a user?  There are no requirement of the application preventing installation and the 'use in TS' check box is checked on the applications.  Any thoughts.

    Have you examined the smsts.log?
    Does the deployed OS have connectivity?
    Have you added the SMSMP property to the Setup Windows and ConfigMgr task?

    Your video clips will import directly into iMovie.  It's a great video editing program.  I'll include some quick video tutorials to get you started below:

  • I just got an iPhone 4s and when I tried to sync it with iTunes it said to uninstall and download the 64bit version. I uninstalled all ove my apple software before I could get it to install at all. Still doesnt work. Doesnt even recognize my phone.

    I just bought an iPhone 4s yesterday and it wouldn't connect to the iTunes 10.6.3 I had already on my laptop for my husbands 3gs and my brother in laws iPhone 4. Neither of them ever had a problem syncing with itunes. When I tried I was told to uninstall itunes and reinstall a 64bit version. Took several attempts but I finally got it. Then it said that I needed to upgrade my apple mobile device support and for me to uninstall itunes again and reinstall it. I have done all of this several times and still cannot get it to work right. I have uninstalled every Apple software listed on my computer and had to reinstall it all. Help!!!!!!!

    Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
    Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

    Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

    Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
    Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
    (If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
    Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
    If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

    Option 1
    Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Uninstalled Logic Pro 8, But still picking up Software Update.

    Hello Guys,
    Need help. I have already uninstalled my Logic Pro 8.
    But somehow, every time I performed a Software Update - it will still somehow detected as if that I have Logic Pro 8 installed on my MBP and asked me to have it update with the latest version.
    I have also already removed the file such as com.apple.logic.plist (something like that), and still - during Software Update - it will still picked up the latest Logic Pro 8 version to be update.
    Am I missing some files that I am suppose to trash here as well?
    Please guide.

    Yes - I have already tried restarting soon after my previous post. Still no luck.
    When run SU - still it pick up the Logic Pro 8 latest version update. Grrrrr...
    As for my Leopard version, Yes - I have already have it updated to 10.5.2 as well.
    I have also check out the 'Ignore Update' configuration as you mentioned. It can be located and works exactly the way you describe it above. The only different is the 'Reset Ignored Updates' menu. For my case, if I were to 'Reset Ignored Updates' - I was advise from the pop up menu right before 'Ignore Update' was apply that it can only be done from the application menu itself. And since my application has already been removed. I guess I can no longer do the 'Reset Ignored Updates' if I want to.
    So in the end, I didn't proceed on with the 'Ignore Update' method.
    I know it's not really a big deal to have that little update being picked up everytime. After all, I can just unchecked it each time and it will not be downloaded and updated. But sometimes it really annoys me. I am sure you know how it felt too. heh heh heh Especially when our Mac is not performing the way it should be.
    I have also learned how to do in-depth search for system files too. But still, nothing was located when the keyword Logic was keyed in.
    Anyway, Thanks again. Let's hope we will find ways to tackle this issue.

    I appreciate that this isn't exactly what you've requested, but I can't give any better advice than the previous posters!
    If possible, I'd suggest that you set the advertisement to only apply when No user is logged in, and set the success return code as Hard Reboot. Also set the advertisement as Required.
    Providing no user is logged in, the computer will install and then reboot. As for the installation of the new version... On
    the Options tab you can set a condition based on a WMI query, registry setting, or installed product code.
    Your users actually log off? How about the user who powers the machine off, powers on the next day and about the time he gets logged in his machine is forcefully rebooted?
    I haven't looked at a 2007 site in a couple years now but I don't recall there being options that you are speaking of.

    After all you've tried, Dah*veed is probably right about needing warranty assistance.
    But first check to be sure Settings-Airplane Mode is set to OFF, and Settings-WiFi-WiFi is set to ON.
    Try unplugging your WiFi router for a few seconds.  Then reset the iPad's network.  Go to Settings-General-Reset-Reset Network Settings.  You will need to reconnect to your WiFi.

  • Software deployment never works

    The software deployment component has not been updated since windows server 2000 as far as i can see and it has never worked well, requires .msi and is just rubbish.
    Why is there by now no good way to roll out software to users and why does the software gpo never install and uninstall software correctly, always comes up with pointless errors in the event log that never help.
    Why is there no effort to improve this basic functionality?
    SME are not going to buy SCCM and sccm is not that much better at rolling out software anyway.
    I end up having to use login scripts and other non sense.

    Yes, I have rolled out a thin image with MDT and so on.
    One of the problems is that i installed X software as user context with gpo with a version 10.0. to windows 7 32bit roaming profiles.
    Then I applied update to X software server to 10.2, swapped out the msi with the 10.2 version, then users moved to windows 7 64bit with new policy and new image from mdt. Then when they log in with roaming profile the gpo tries to install 10.2 of the software
    and it says it can't remove the previous version. I don't see why it needs to remove the previous version because it doesn't. Running the msi within the user session manually works without admin rights and any issues, so i know there is no problem with the
    msi.
    I should have applied the 10.2 update to the users profiles before they moved to the new image and this would have allowed for the previous version to be detected properly. Even though I have tried pushing out the new version to the old image, it still fails
    in teh same way.
    Is it not possible to remove the package 10.0 then add package 10.2. Do i realy have to keep 10.0 in there and than add 10.2 and go to upgrades tab and specify that 10.2 is the new version of 10.0. Is it realy that rubbish that it can't just isntall the
    msi?
    However even just pushing out a flash update fails. Comes up with similar problems trying to find the previous version.I tried removing the previous version from program and features to see if it would work if there was no version installed it has similar
    problems.

    I ran into a problem with Lync 2013 x64 silent deployment.
    I need to provide every workstation with Lync 2013 client, so i decided to use deployment via SCCM 2012 sp1.
    I created 2 msp files with OCT, one based on x86 Office 2013 Proplus, and other based on x64 Office 2013 Proplus.
    Added them as applications to sccm software library.
    Deployment of Lync 2013 x86 application was a success with over than 80% compliance. 
    But all Lync 2013 x64 automatic installations finish with different errors.
    I created special device collection for workstations with office 2010 x64 and 2013 x64, because i can't install other architecture products once it has x64 product installed.
    My membership query-rules for this collection:

    My application deployment type points to setup.exe in office 2013 x64 installation folder, where i created msp file in updates folder via OCT and edited config.xml file in proplus.ww folder.
    So my installation program looks like this setup.exe /adminfile updates\1lync.msp /config proplus.ww\config.xml
    The same configuration works with Lync 2013 x86 deployment, except other setup folders.
    When i try running installation program setup.exe with /adminfile and /config parameters locally, it installs successfully without errors or warnings.
    I'm trying to find out problem source, does anyone have ideas what I am doing wrong?
    Also i'm trying to reduce office 2013 installation folder size, what subfolders are necessary for Office 2013 proplus installation (still installing only lync with common files and tools)? Because now 3.5 GB package is quite hard to distribute to sccm secondary
    sites with deployment point.

    Hi Friends,
    we are deploying the SP1 via SCCM 2012 , and the success rate is around 50 %, its a Light touch installation where user will initiate the installation via Software Center ( Web based )
    i was able to gather few errors , and this are the errors which failed during SP1 Installation 0x800f0828,
    some errors which sccm reports display are 
    11171
    10008
    10021-
    17031 - 
    1602 - User Cancelled installation
    113 - No more internal file identifiers available
    10070 - File handle reference is no longer available
    10050 - A socket operation encountered a dead network
    11170  - The task sequence manager could not successfully complete execution of the task sequence
    i could not find the reason for some of the errors, also i am looking for a fix/woraround if any
    Also i have noticed that in few computers the task seq failed at a place where after the sp1 installation a reboot happens and then PGP BYPASS utility is uninstalled, it did not start the PGP bypass uninstall after reboot
    is there a way to cut short the Task seq and keep it simple ?
    right now its like this 
    1. checking for prerequisite : checks for OS Name and OS version
    2. installs PGP Bootgaurd Bypass
    3. System Restart
    4. Installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1
    5. Final Restart
    6. uninstall PGP Bootgaurd Bypass

    funny cannot send the image of the errors because i DO NOT have a photoshop working version !)
    (did the screen copy, exported in jpeg srgb  from illustrator)

    exported the error log from lightroom still not working as it seems like the file (it's a screenshot) is more than a 8mo size file !
    i ignored i was using a 8k screen till now
