  • MAJOR Problems unlocking my Torch...HELP..!

    Hello,
I am at my wits end and dearly hope someone here can help or point me in the right direction.
I tried to change my original Torch' cover and ended up toally destroying the phone. My partner bought another one for me from eBay but it was locked to T-Mobile. I bought several unlock codes online but somehow they never worked. I have taken the phone into a shop but they say they can't do anything because the 'counter needs to be reset'. I presume they mean because the times I tried to unlock it reached a certain limit and it stopped allowing any further attempts?
I LOVE the Torch and am so fed up trying to sort this out. If anyone can make a suggestion that would be great. Byw, I contacted T-Mobile and they basically couldn't care less.
    Thanks,
    Donna

No, they wouldn't care less because you didn't purchase the phone from them.
What needs to be reset is the MEP code and it needs to be done by RIM.  The only way you'll get through to RIM at no cost to you is through your carrier, T-Mobile.  Give them a call and tell them you need to be escalated to RIM to have the MEP code reset.  Make sure you tell them it's the MEP code and not just unlocking the phone with a password.
    I hope that helps you.

  • Unlocked Blackberry Torch - Trying to get it to work on "Consumer Cellular"

I purcased a SIM card from "Consumer Cellular" yesterday and am trying to get my ATT BB Torch to work on their network.  It's a GSM phone and from what I understand "Consumer Cellular" is GSM and rides on the ATT network. I have just unlocked my BB 9800 Torch but still have NO network connections and the phone is indicating that I need to insert a SIM card even though I have the SIM card in the phone.  I've spoken to "Consumer Cellular" twice about this with no avail. (NOTE: I was able to get my "Unlock Code" from ATT so I beleive it should be valid and the phone indicated that the code WAS accepted, however now everything on the phone indicates "Its Disabled")
So, has anybody tried to get their ATT/GSM Blackberry Torch to work on "Consumer Cellular's" network?  I'd just like to be able to use my Blackberry again, I don't even care if the data doesn't work.
    ANY help is GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks,
    David

Never mind!  Got it working, re-installed the SIM card, called "Consumer Wireles" customer support and got it working.  Made calls and sent and received text messages.  My signal at home it not strong enough to test the DATA (surfing the net) application yet.

I'm fed up with liars on eBay! Many of them say "brand new" but the phone is sometimes damaged..

hey man, you be better off getting a t mobile 9810 that will work on the faster 3g speeds.
    9800 only will get 2g
Hey man, Happy 420. Enjoy the wonderful blackberry. Peace out my froggies.

    provider : AT&T
    Thank you
Edit: Personal information removed (IMEI). At no time should you provide any personal information to any other community member. Check out the User Guidelines for details.

After the ten attempts have been used, you must get RIM to unlock the device.
There are two routes, and only two, to achieve this.
    * IF your device is in warranty, contact your service provider technical support. Tell them you have this issue which needs to be escalated to RIM level customer support. I'll warn you that most carrier technical support people will first assume and think you are referring to a device security unlock, and you will need to convince them otherwise and explain clearly what you need. THEY will not be able to help you because the carriers themselves cannot unlock a device which has had the MEP code attempts depleted, and should (and you will need to ask) to have the case escalated to RIM level tech support.
    * If your device is out of warranty, contact RIM direct. See the Contact Us information from the website: http://ca.blackberry.com/contact/ The options you want to select to speak to BlackBerry Customer Care are 3 (for inquiries, orders, billing, e-RMA etc) then 5 (e-RMA and Out of Warranty).

  • Online services

i recently bought an unlocked blackberry torch on EBay, it was previously on the english vodafone network and i am living in ireland and the phone is on meteor network, calls and messages are woorkin fine but blackberry messager, internet browser, facebook and all internet services are ceasing work, when i enter browser it says 'your service does not currently have any browser configuration sevice book entries'. i was wondering if you could help me fix this so that i can use my online services?

Blackberry Data plan is different from other data services. Regular data service may just provide you with access to the browser but not to the Blackberry apps that require internet connection. If you Carrier does not support a Blackberry Data Plan, I would suggest you look for another one that provides it.

  • Cannot use my blackberry messenger

i have a brand new unlocked blackberry torch but for some reason i cannot use my bbm or any of the services associated with it. i contacted my carrier and everything that is suppose to be done is, but i still cannot use the bbm

Well that's quite sad indeed...TM is usually so much more helpful than that. Did they not even offer to escalate up to RIM since TM could not handle it? That's, after, what they are supposed to do...
Then again...did you not obtain this BB from TM? Does the TM network natively support this model of BB? Read on...
Any BB can be used on any carrier that runs the same radio frequencies that the BB is capable of (and I've no idea if your's are such). But, to bring a BB onto a carrier network that they did not sell to you, there are several hurdles to cross:
    1) The carrier must say "yes" to the fact...they own their network and have every right to say what devices will be allowed to connect to it. If they say "no", then that's the end of it.
    2) You must be sure that your BB is properly unlocked from it's originally manufactured-for carrier...see this helpful thread for details:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/General-BlackBerry-Functions-and/Unlocking-your-BlackBerry-Gu...
    3) You must get all of your voice level services functioning on the carrier, before you even try anything about data
    4) You must subscribe, from the carrier, to an adequate data plan to enable the BB-proprietary services you desire
5a) If the carrier directly supports your specific model BB, then you can proceed with registering the BB onto their network, generating the proper Service Book delivery to your BB, and proceeding to function.
5b) But, if the carrier does not directly support your specific model number of BB, then the challenges are much greater as most carrier systems will not deliver, to the BB, the necessary service books to enable the BB-proprietary data services, even if you do subscribe to them.
So, depending on all of that, your BB may or may not ever fully function on that carrier network. It can be quite tricky to accomplish, especially if 5b applies. So take a look at all of that and decide how you wish to proceed. Most folks wind up just buying a new BB if 5b applies.

  • BB Torch (unlocked). Cant setup email (times out when selected) via Virgin Mobile

    Hi Everyone
    I have a BB Torch 9800.
It was originally registered on the Rogers network, and everything worked fine.
I recently unlocked the phone, and switched to Virgin (ie new SIM card), including a data plan.
Im not able to setup an email account now.
When I go into Setup->Email Accounts->Internet Mail Account, it says "Check for updates'.
After a couple minutes it will timeout saying it can't connect.
In searching the fourms, I came across Host Routing Table settings. My HRT has  "* No entries *'. I have "Register Now", which tells me the Registration message was sent, however I havent had a response back.
Im also wondering if this phone is still "registered" with Rogers somehow?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    phantasie wrote:
My providor is Virgin Mobile in Ontario, Canada. A quick web search seemed to indivate they support this BB, but IM not positive. So it coul just be thats the issue.
From what I can see in the official Download Portal, Virgin Mobile Canada indeed does support the 9800...you can double check here:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/apps-and-software/desktop-and-device-download-sites.html
If a carrier lists an OS package for a specific BB model number, then the carrier supports that model, and everything should be fine.
But, that is step 5...what about the things included in steps 1 through 4? Those, of course, are all steps...requiring the success of a prior step before considering proceeding to the next step. So, for instance, if your voice services aren't yet working from Virgin, then you should not even be thinking yet about getting data to work.
    As to your questions:
    phantasie wrote:
How do I go about registering the BB onto their network - namel generating the proper Service Book delivery.
Do I request this through my BB?
Normally, I suggest the following steps, in order (again requiring success before proceeding), even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Delete and Resend Service Books
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Unfortunately, we already know that your BB fails on step 1 here (register HRT)...which then precludes moving on to step 2. Which leads me back to the prior steps...did steps 1 through 4 all result positively?
    phantasie wrote:
How do I go about registering the BB onto their network - namel generating the proper Service Book delivery.
Would the providor do this for me automaticall?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no...when in doubt, the steps above are the way to force it.
    phantasie wrote:
How do I go about registering the BB onto their network - namel generating the proper Service Book delivery.
Would I request the providor to do this?
If it does not work with what is above, then the next logical step would be to contact the carrier for formal assistance...after all, it's their network with which you are attempting to get your BB to communicate.
    phantasie wrote:
How do I go about registering the BB onto their network - namel generating the proper Service Book delivery.
Do I login into BB to do this (ie I found this link https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html which I tried logging into, but it says my device isnt registered on the network. It told me to setup my Host Routing Tabels to fix that, which I tried, but hasnt worked yet).
There is more than one way to accomplish many of these things. But, until your BB properly registers to the carrier network (HRT), attempting to go any further is pointless.
With all of that, we're back to steps 1 through 4 of what I previously sent...if those are not completed properly, then nothing else will be useful.
    Good luck!

  • HELP! Unlocked China Mobile Torch Ruining My Life

Sorry folks if this is an obvious one, or if I am posting in the wrong place.  Im a huge bberry fan (cant wait for the 10) but for now, stuck in China with my Torch.  The facts are thusly:
I have bought the China BIS package, the phone is unlocked, and it even reads EDGE in capital letters. Phone service works, so does internet.  Just not EMAILS.
When I go to set up an email it goes straight to existing users, asking for my username.  Ummm what would that be?  Four characters?  How do I get one of those?
Or when I go to mobile.blackberry.com and choose Communications, then Email, then Gmail (or anything else) and then "integrate," it says that my blackberry isnt registered on the network, but it HAS been!  I have gotten the registration confirmation email.
Phone and internet works, just not push email.  Or "internet email," not sure which is which.  I just cant set up emails to the phone, only GMAIL on the internet.
HELP ME!  I AM LOST ON PLANET CHINA!!!!!
    Thanks so much,
    Jon

    On the handset, go to:
    For OS5 and 4.x
Options - Advanced Options - Host Routing Table
and click Register now, and escape back to the home page.
    For OS6 and higher
in options, device , advanced, host routing table, click on menu and choose register now.
Wait 2 minutes and see if registration to network happens.
Resend your service books from your carrier BIS site:
    From your handheld device: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB15402
Go to the Personal Email Set Up icon and log in. Then under Help!, select Service Books, then select Send service Books.
    From your desktop PC: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02830
North American Carriers - scroll down to select your carrier
WorldWide Carriers - Find your carrier on the list
    3. With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot. This reboot, even if you have already done this, is often needed to install the service books.

  • Torch is off after unlocking the iPhone

    Hi there,
this is my very first topic and I can say I am a beginner in case of iPhone development. So I started to create an easy app - a torch app which everyone did in the beginning, I assume.
The app is running pretty cool. Now I do have a small thing, which might could be solved by a prof.
When I start the app, the torch is active. When I manually lock the iPhone and unlock it again the torch app is running and it's state is "ON" but the torch light is off - but the torch should glow! Once I click on off and on again, the torch glows again.
What do I have to do, to get the torch shining when I come back from the locked iPhone status?
    Thank you so much.
    Regards
    Aaren

Ok, got that information. I have played around with NSLog outputs, to understand when an app will ...EnterForeground or ...DidBecomeActive and so on. For me the "applicationDidBecomeActive" in the ALightAppDelgate.m file is important.
in the ALightAppDelegate.m file I edited the following
    - (void)applicationDidBecomeActive:(UIApplication *)application
         NSLog(@"app become active");
         [ALightViewController viewDidLoad];
and now I receive an error "No known class method for selector 'viewDidLoad', but I have #import ALightViewControler.h at the beginning of the ALightAppDelegate.m file.
So, now I don't really know why it can't find the method.

  • Unlocked torch wont go on Blackberry network

I have a Torch 9800 that was on the Telus network and had unlocked. I used it briefly on Att go phone plan without Blackberry services. While on a business trip to Canada switched it to Virgin mobile prepaid plan all my Blackberry services worked just fine. Returned to the States and decided to bite the bullet and lock it onto a plan with Att now I dont have any of my blackberry services called them up made sure it was on a Blackberry data plan (it wasnt) added Blackberry Data restarted the device but still no Blackberry services (no 4 dots after 3G) Att says they cant do anything because of it being another carriers phone. Im thinking about downloading the software from Blackberrys website for the Att torch 9800 just wondering if theres another easier fix or if the software will even work or maybe brick up my phone. Thanks

But, ATT does provide service for BlackBerry Internet Service, regardless of where you bought the device.
So, you need to ask them the SPECIFIC question I posed above.
Is the IMEI and PIN of the device registered on your account?
If not, is there an error they see when adding it?
Confirm they have the BlackBerry BIS Data Plan on your account.

  • Unlock code for free blackberry torch 9800

    Hi,
Recently in Dec 2010 I won the Blackberry Torch phone in the Fastest Thumb
texting competition held at 1 court sq , in Long Island
City NY. The Competition was sponsored by  RIM & AT&T.
Phone came with no contract and no commitements.
I want to give this phone to father as a gift(lives in other
country) but I don't have a unlock code. Could someone
tell me the best possible way to get it?
AT&T gave me hard time and said they dont have the unlock code and asked me to contact RIM
any input will be greatly appreciated.
    G

Yea, they don't have to unlock it for you without a contract, and don't always do so anyway within the first 90 days of ownership even on a contract.
So, get a very inexpensive unlock code from the link below, these are trustworthy and reputable unlocking vendors, you don't want to use just anyone, I've seen too many people get bad codes and permanently lock their device to the branded carrier.
    http://www.blackberryforums.com/unlock.php
Good luck and congrats on winning the contest and the Torch.
