Unprotect the PDF file Created by Designer 7
Can anyone help me to unprotect the file created by designer 7. I didn't trigger the security features of this program. What happen is that, I already finished the design and already save the file but when I try to use Professional 7 to merge it with my other PDF, the error message appear "The file .....PDF is protected." I'm a first time user of this program.
Thanks
I have the same problem. I created a form from a pdf file and then wnated to add a page, from another form, as you can do with acrobat and the "insert pages" is grayed out. I tried to create a pdf file by "create pdf...from multiple files" and I get the "this file is protected message. I already tried to unprotect, it was not protected in the first place, and it will not let me do it.
Also if you use the page tab on the left it will not let you delete a page.
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Dennis

Combine PDF Files created in Designer
In Acro 7, you can combine PDF files into 1 file (Document-Insert). When the PDF is created in Designer, these choices are greyed out. Is there a work around?
No. You cannot do any edits in Acrobat on Designer forms. Also,
combining Acrobat forms rarely gives the results people expect!

Automatically Tagged the PDF files Created from Templates
I have some PDF templates which have texts, fields, table, or lines in it. They are made accessible by tagging manually and creating special reading order when press tab through the pages.
After run a program which uses Adobe FdfApp and FdfDoc object to add data in the fields of the templates and save as an fdf file, then use CAcroAVDoc / CAcroPDDoc object convert fdf file to a PDF file. This PDF file will keep special reading order when press tab through the pages, but no Tag. (Tagged PDF: is No).
Is there a way can keep the tag of PDF templates, after run FdfApp? If not, how automatically to create the PDF file tag or import tag from its template?No, the process of importing an FDF into a PDF does not maintain any tagging.

PDF file created from Oracle Report is attached wrongly
Hi,
Please help. It is very urgent.
I am using Oracle Developer 10gR2, Oracle Report 10.1.2 on Windows 2000.
I would like to attach the PDF file created by Oracle Report to the Notification sent from Workflow.
I use the following package procedure in my Workflow.
procedure Create_File_Attachment (document_id in varchar2, display_type in varchar2, document in out blob, document_type in out varchar2)
is
l_itemtype varchar2(100);
l_itemkey varchar2(100);
l_output_directory varchar2(30);
l_filename varchar2(255);
src_loc bfile;
bdoc blob;
src_offset number := 1;
dst_offset number := 1;
amount number;
begin
l_itemtype := substr(document_id, 1, instr(document_id, ':') - 1);
l_itemkey := substr(document_id, instr(document_id, ':') + 1, length(document_id) - 2);
l_output_directory := 'USR_TMP_DIR';
l_filename := Wf_Engine.GetItemAttrText(l_itemtype, l_itemkey, 'ATR_FILENAME');
src_loc := bfilename(l_output_directory,l_filename);
dbms_lob.createTemporary(bdoc, FALSE, dbms_lob.call);
dbms_lob.fileopen(src_loc, dbms_lob.file_readonly);
dbms_lob.loadblobfromfile(bdoc,src_loc,dbms_lob.lobmaxsize,src_offset,dst_offset);
dbms_lob.fileclose(src_loc);
amount := dbms_lob.getLength(bdoc);
dbms_lob.copy(document,bdoc,amount,1,1);
document_type := 'application/pdf; name=attach.pdf';
end Create_File_Attachment;Oracle Report created the PDF file correctly (original.pdf).
I tried to attach the PDF into my Workflow.
I can see the file is attached (attach.pdf), but it cannot be opened.
The Adobe shows : 'A drawing error occured.' each time I open the attachment.
I compare the original.pdf and the attach.pdf
However, there is one specific difference
- in original.pdf, the line started with '.' (single period)
in attach.pdf, the line is started with '..' (two periods)
Thus the attachment cannot be opened.
After I delete the period, it can be opened.
Question:
- Has someone ever succeed in attaching the PDF created from Report?
- Are the codes above is wrong?
- Or perhaps the DBMS_LOB.LOADBLOBFROMFILE always double the single period on front of the line?
- Is there any solution on this?
Note:
I have succeed in attaching PDF files unless the PDF created by the Report.
Sorry for the long post.
Please help. It is very urgent.
Any help is appreciated.
Many thanks,
BuntoroThe code looks absolutely good. I have the same code working in my system. Only difference is I use TRUE and DBMS_LOB.Session for the BLOB I use to read from the BFILE.
I can suggest one more way to handle to binary attachments if you are on Oracle 9i DB are later versions.
procedure attach_document (p_document_id in varchar2,
p_display_type in varchar2,
p_document in out nocopy clob,
p_document_type in out nocopy varchar2)
is
l_nid number;
l_directory varchar2(100);
l_filename varchar2(100);
l_content_type varchar2(100);
l_src_offset binary_integer := 1;
l_dst_offset binary_integer := 1;
l_err_msg varchar2(100);
l_amount number;
l_bfile BFILE;
l_blob BLOB;
l_clob CLOB;
file_not_found exception;
pragma EXCEPTION_INIT(file_not_found, -22288);
begin
l_nid := to_number(p_document_id);
l_directory := trim(wf_notification.GetAttrText(l_nid, 'ATTR_DIRECTORY'));
l_filename := trim(wf_notification.GetAttrText(l_nid, 'ATTR_FILENAME'));
l_content_type := trim(wf_notification.GetAttrText(l_nid, 'ATTR_CONTENT_TYPE'));
l_bfile := BFILENAME(l_directory, l_filename);
dbms_lob.createtemporary(l_blob, true, dbms_lob.Session);
dbms_lob.createtemporary(l_clob, true, dbms_lob.Session);
begin
dbms_lob.FileOpen(l_bfile, dbms_lob.File_Readonly);
exception
when file_not_found then
l_err_msg := to_char(sqlcode)||' - Attachment File "'||l_filename||'" is not found.';
raise_application_error(-20002, l_err_msg);
end;
dbms_lob.LoadBLOBFromFile(l_blob, l_bfile, dbms_lob.LobMaxSize, l_src_offset, l_dst_offset);
dbms_lob.FileClose(l_bfile);
-- Encode the BLOB content to BASE64 and attach to notification
wf_mail_util.EncodeBLOB(l_blob, l_clob);
l_amount := dbms_lob.GetLength(l_clob);
dbms_lob.Copy(p_document, l_clob, l_amount, 1, 1);
-- Mention an appropriate Content Type so that Notification System
-- understands the attachment content
p_document_type := l_content_type||'; encoding=base64; name='||l_filename;
end attach_document;Here I read the BLOB from the filesystem and base64 encode it before giving it to the Mailer. Please note that this is a PLSQLCLOB based attachment as against PLSQLBLOB that you are using.

When you create a link to a web page in numbers "Mavericks" and we export the PDF file, the link is offset by 3 rows. Example: if I put a link on the text (with Cmd-K) in cell A1, I found the link A4. In fact, this feature becomes unusable. How can we solve this problem?
Thank you.Hi again Raja!
I did as you recommended and installed HTTPWatch and below is the outcome of that program. It is the exact string with the only exception of obfuscated servernames and portnumbers. The last part that begins with "sap_ep_baseurl=" makes me suspicious, is that part really correct? It looks like it's lacking things.
Best regards

Is there any way to embed the pdf file in the book created in iBooks Author to make it available to be downloaded or sent to email?
I'm making the book for children and there is one chapter providing coloring pages. So I wish to attach pdf files that allow users to download it at the end of chapter so that they can print it out. Been searching through discussion, I've found some advice about taking screen snapshot page-by-page > then send the pics from photo album to email. However, I'm wondering if there's a way that make the process easier.Warehouse that PDF on your own server, then link to it from your book.

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 plus I create PDF files for work some are scan pdf docs. When I install Photoshop Elements 10 it DOES convert all the PDF files to Photoshop Elements-10 Docs. it even changes and shows the PSE-10 Icon. So I am alway installing PSE-10 or uninstalling it. If I send the PDF file that has been automatically converted to a PSE-10 the person I send the file to can not open it because they do not have PSE-10. What can I do to stop PSE-10 from converting my PDF files? Don't tell me to upgrade PSE-10 I tried their on-line program and it is too advance for a hobby photographer like myself and their Help Desk is impossible to reach.

When I try to use the Submit Form button on the Interactive PDF I created (In Design CS6), I get this message:
There is no value in form field "Program." Please put in it before proceeding.
How can I fix this and make the Submit Form button work?Are you running modified software on your phone? This error seems to be common if the firmware has been modified and you're trying to restore the phone again.

Adobe PDF printer failed to create the PDF file
Just installed Acrobat 9 Standard on new HP Touchsmart running Vista 64 bit - tried to create a pdf from a *.pub, and got the error message above, and "please correct the error and try again". If I knew what the error was, I'd try to correct it.
If you check the PDF file with ctrl-D and select the font tab, you will likely find that the font you mention is not embedded. The font not being embedded will make major differences in terms of what fonts Acrobat or Reader finds to do a substitution. Also, the fonts may not display correctly if you have the Use Local Fonts check box selected incorrectly (just try changing that choice).
Fonts can be a major issue in terms of licensing for embedding and such. Also, different job.settings file selections may cause fonts to not be properly embedded.
Since the printer works, the issue of the other packages is the need for PDF Maker to be active in those applications that you are trying to import files from. To check PDF Maker, you need to test it in those applications, not in Acrobat. Trying things in Acrobat is the last step, not the first step. In WORD, there is a need for certain settings to be properly set to allow PDF Maker to work. These may be the issues you are having. So, go back to the applications of interst and be sure that PDF Maker works from the application -- this is the create PDF button. -
I created a 10-page sale flyer in InDesign CS5 which will be viewed on our website. When I export it as a PDF file, even with the compression at "minimum", the size is still 3.8 MB.
Is there a way to reduce the size of the PDF file? with InDesign or another tool out there?
Thanks for your help!

To expand a little on what Jongware said, normally choosing vector over bitmap will decrease the filesize. If the vector art is very complex though, this will not be true.
Yup, a logo as bitmap takes up more space than the same as a vector -- unless the vector image is bitmap heavy (think Drop Shadow, Outline Glow; these are actually bitmap effects).
Also, check your PDF version. "Older" versions do not support live transparency, the latest do. Then again, you cannot use live transparency if you suspect your viewers may be using Mac OS X, because Apple's own PDF viewer sucks big time. -
Acrobat 8 Professional can't find the scanning device when creating the second page of the PDF file
Hey guys, this is my first post here, so please excuse me if there is anything I need to know.
I am a Mac User and I have the whole CS3 suit installed.
Everything works just great except there is this little thing bugs me around.
When I try to use Acrobat Professional 8.0 to create a PDF file through my scanner, (samsung SCX-4725FN, it's scan/print/fax combined) I wouldn't be able to continue to scan to the second page. To be more specific, I have no problem to scan and create the first page of the PDF file, when it asks me if I want to scan and create another page, when I confirmed it, I wouldn't be able to see the scanner in the "Acrobat Scan" window. The "scan" botton stay faded, therefore I can't continue. If I click "cancel" and try to create another PDF file from the scanner, the smae problem will show up again. The only way that I can continue to scan is to quit the program from the menu bar and restart it, then I can start to create the next '1st page only' PDF file from the scanner. I had to do this rapidly to get all the pages scanned first, and then combine them to get my work done. This is a pain in the butt. I have downloaded the most updated scanner driver, and patched Acrobat to version 8.1.2 , but the problem still exist. I have tested the scanner with PS CS3, the scanner works just fine. So I assume there is a glitch here with the software. Can anyone help me please?I am not very clear at which step you are facing issue. Below is the sequence in order to scan more pages from Acrobat:
1. Launch Acrobat. Click menu File->Create PDF->From Scanner....
2. "Acrobat Scan" dialog will appear. Select your scanner installed in Scanner dropdown. Check 'Prompt for scanning more pages' checkbox as you want to scan more than one page. Click Scan button in "Acrobat Scan" dialog.
3. Now scanner UI will appear. Make setting like color mode/resolution and click Scan button(or may be Accept button) in this dialog. (This is scanner specific ui)
4. After this scanning will happen and "Acrobat Scan" dialog will appear with "Scan is Complete" and "Scan more pages" option.
5. Select "Scan more pages" option and click OK in this dialog to scan more pages.
6. Now again scanner UI will appear as in step 3 above. Make your settings and proceed.
Do you see scanner UI or "Acrobat Scan" dialog in step6? Are you not able to click Scan(or Accept) button in scanner UI?
