Update BBP_APPROVAL_LIMIT for mass users (Personalization)

Hello ,
To update the approval limit for individual users , one can do so by using SU01 --> Personalization --> BBP_APPROVAL_LIMIT
Can anybody let us know if we can update the same for n numbers of users (say 1000 users) by mass changes.

HI Satya,
Won't updating the value in PFCG personalization tab change it for all users having that role , i want to update it for selective but mass users.
I guess the personalization is SU01 has priority over personalization in PFCG.

    Hi
Please could you suggest whether can we reset password for mass users?

    Hi,
No it not Possible through SU10.
you can Do it through Script.
Activate the scripting in you System .
then you need to record the script by doing it for one user and then after the script is done for one user u need to create script for many user by adding a for loop and then play the script.

  • Update available for another user's apps

I just purchased a brand new iMac & set up two users with separate usernames/passwords.  Now the app store says I have updates for apps that I don't have, nor want. These are apps that my wife downloaded under her username/profile.

You are seeing her app updates and she will see your app updates because App Store searches all the hard disk to find App Store apps.
Also, applications are installed by default on a common folder for both users (/Applications), so you can try to move the App Store applications to ~/Applications (being ~ your user folder). Doing this, the other user shouldn't be able to see app updates for your Apple ID as you can't access to one user folder from a different one

  • Setting automatic update settings for all users

    Hello all,
I'm trying to roll out Quicktime 7.6 to our corporate desktops with the automatic update feature within Quicktime disabled. In past installs we were able to make the setting change and then copy the quicktime.qtp file to the "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\quicktime" directory on all the computers and all would be good. However with 7.6 is appears this file is now housed under the individual user's profile. Is there a way to make this a global setting for all users logging in to a pc?
    Thanks in advance!
    KC

We have a similar problem in a High School, using Windows XP Pro, QT 7.x and Active Directory. While going to a Spanish Exam web page that uses QT, the students get locked into an auto update process. As restricted users, they can neither abort or accept the update, and are unable to complete the exam. We have found that unchecking the preference for auto update as an admin user does not uncheck it for anyone else. Under C:\Documents and Settings, there is no folder for Apple Software except for myself, once I have opened the QT preferences. I assume that Apple has hidden the location of the default preference to force updating, without regard to how that would work in a locked-down environment. It sure creates havoc when 30 students sit down for a timed and graded online exam!! Any answers out there?

  • Updating applications for multiple users

I have set up multiple user accounts on my mac pro so that I can restrict my kid's access to applications and the web. Trouble is that I am unable to update his browser and flash plug-in. My default browser is Firefox 17.0, Flash Player 11.5.502.110 but his shows up as Firefox 3! I have scrolled through the Parental Controls: Allowed Apps list looking in vain for a way to select the *right* browser version, but nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

Thanks for responding, Kirk. Per your suggestion I checked the parental controls panel to see which apps folder was selected and found that there seemed to be no way to navigate to a particular folder. It simply offers an option named "Other Apps". Next I looked at the User/blah/Applications folder and found that there was none--so parental controls must be pointing to the HD/Applications folder.

  • Cannot update pages for second user

We have 2 users on our iMac and my wife updated pages to 5.2, when i opened pages it asked if i wanted to update but i was in a hurry so said later. now i cannot get it to update.   any suggestions?
    thanks

There is one Pages v5.2 available on your iMac for both of you. And, if you had the previous Pages ’09 v4.3 installed, it was moved to /Applications/iWork '09 folder, and is still available for use. Two Pages versions installed will produce challenges.
We are preconditioned to believe that a higher version must be a better, improved solution. Pages v5 is a complete rewrite/redesign that offers bugs and about 100 less features than v4.3. It is intuitive which is the better solution to use going forward. This decision can be fortified by reading the reviews in the App Store, and the endless posts here about Pages v5 issues.
The problem introduced with Pages v5 is an entirely new .pages document format that is incompatible with prior Pages applications. For instance, lets say that I have Pages ’09 v4.3 running, and double-click a Pages v5 document to open it. Here is the dialog box that results:
If the preceding document had been created with Pages ’08 or ’09, then the double-click would open it in the already running Pages ’09 application. If no Pages application were running, the double-click would attempt to open the document in Pages v5. If it is a .pages document created by Pages ’09, Pages v5.2 will open it without any warning about the earlier document format. As soon as you edit and save, it becomes a version 5 document that causes the above dialog when attempting to reopen it in Pages ’09.
When you have mixed Pages application versions and documents, it changes your workflow habits. You can now only open Pages ’09 documents with either a right-click on the document, and then choose Open With > Pages (4.3). Or, use the Pages ’09 open file browser.
I dragged the Pages ’09 and Pages v5.2 application icons to my Dock from their respective locations in /Applications/iWork '09 and /Applications. These Dock aliases make it somewhat easier to work with disparate .pages documents.

  • 7.1 update process for CS2 users

Hi - I want to update the Acrobat 7.x Pro / Designer 7.0 combo on a PC which came with CS2.
Can I just run the 7.1 install and let it intelligently remove and install over existing Designer 7.0 ? I ask because - unlike standalone Acrobat install, CS2 does not seem to offer you a way of manually uninstalling Designer 7.0
By the way - unless I've missed something, the ReadMe on the 7.1 CD talks about everything except the 7.0 > 7.1 update procedure. Think this should always be explained, even if no problems foreseen.

"Anyways, moral of the story is I shouldn't open my big mouth about things I don't know for sure
    Chris
Adobe Enterprise Developer Support" - LOL - confirms my long-held opinion that Adobe staffers are generally honest and friendly people. Probably too honest ;o)
"It would be helpful if Adobe published a document that listed (e.g. in tabular form) the functionality that works/exists in various Designer + Acrobat combinations. " - definitely, but this is where Adobe always fall down. It is as if they just don't have the layer of people who should be around to do this kind of stuff.
Which reminds me - what exactly are QA people there for? Most QA people I know can't figure out how to use the elevator.
They need to employ at least one person per product whose sole job is just to see things from a customer's viewpoint (not form Adobe's!!!) - we would soon see improved documentation (especially on the Javascript side!) and more logical install routines.

  • HELP! Acrobat 9 - How to get rid of updater notification for all users without admin rights

I just bought Acrobat Pro 9 w/ volume licensing because Adobe said this would fix a problem we are having. Every morning we have users that login and get a box that says that do not have sufficient rights to update Adobe. I need this gone. Obviously I can't give them admin rights. We are running on 5 terminal servers running 2003 server. I just need a hack or something I don't really care.

  • How can I disable the 'First Run' and 'Whats New' pages from showing after updating Firefox for all users that log onto a system.

I am a system administrator and need a way to set a global preference to not open the Whats New and first run pages. I found the browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone preference in the user profile but want to be able to set this globally.

Use a mozilla.cfg file in the Firefox program folder to lock prefs or specify default values.
Place a file local-settings.js in the defaults\pref folder where you also find the file channel-prefs.js to specify using mozilla.cfg.
    pref("general.config.filename", "mozilla.cfg");
    pref("general.config.obscure_value", 0); // use this to disable the byte-shift
    See:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locking_preferences
You can use these functions in mozilla.cfg:
defaultPref(); // set new default value
pref(); // set pref, but allow changes in current session
lockPref(); // lock pref, disallow changes

  • Disable JRE Auto update in Vista for all users?

I feel like a complete idiot that I can't figure this out, but it's either so obvious I'm overlooking it, or I just plain can't figure it out, so I'm hoping someone here can help.
We have not yet been able to figure out how to simply disabled the Auto Update option when installing JRE under Vista, so it will never check for updates, no matter what user is logged into a pc. I've just installed the newest version 1.6.0_05-b13, but get the same results.
Basically, we are creating a "base clone image" of a Vista workstation and we need the auto update feature of the JRE to be disabled so it doesn't check for updates. When a new user logs into the pc, we want them to 'inherit' this setting from the default user profile, or we simply want a 'global' setting on the pc that stops all JAVA update checks from occuring. But even though there are multiple registry keys that 'look' like they control the auto update function, no matter how we set them the update option still shows it is enabled when you open the JAVA control panel.
    We have 2 basic problems:
    - When a standard user runs the JAVA Control Panel applet and they select the 'Update' tab, the option to "uncheck" autoupdates is "grayed out". If we make the user a local administrator, then it is not grayed out anymore and they can set the option. Problem is, we have thousands of users and none of them are local administrators, hence the problem of getting it to already be defaulted to not check for updates. How do we get the update checkbox to NOT be grayed out for a NON-administrator?
    - How do we set the 'global' (or default) option to disable the auto update checkbox for ALL users? No matter what we try, when a new user logs in, the auto update feature is still enabled after their initial profile is generated from the first time login.
I was able to figure out if I change the "EnableJavaUpdate" value in the below registry key, it will "remove" the Update tab from the JAVA Control Panel. But does the simply remove the tab? Or does it remove the tab AND disable auto updates for ALL users on the computer?
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Update\Policy
I've sent multiple emails to Sun asking for help on what should be a simple thing to do, but have never received a reply from them.
    Keith Hemmelman

Thank you for the reply. I apologize for not getting back here sooner.
We actually already use a deployment.properties file located under the Default User profile on our Vista setup. It's located under the "C:\Users\Default\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment" folder. This file does get copied over to a new user profile when a new person logs in. This is what we want since we have set things like the maximum cache size and temporary file location.
The problem though is there is no setting that disables the automatic update check within this file. The best I can figure out is that for some reason under the Vista environment, the auto update setting is controlled in the registry at: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Java Update\Policy
There is a REG_BINARY key there that appears to control this option. It is named "EnableAutoUpdateCheck". The problem is that the value of this key is "several" characters long and it is "different" from one user to the next. I tried disabling auto update under the Java Control Panel and then copied the value of this key into the same aread of the Default User hive but when a new user logs in, it ignores that setting and auto update is still enabled. I also tried using a simple "0" to disable the autoupdate or a "1" to enable it for this key, but it doesn't work either. (This is very frustrating why there isn't a simple 1 or 0 setting to turn the auto update setting on/off.)
We had no problem getting this to work under XP. Basically we didn't have to do anything special in XP. We simply created a temporary user account and made all the settings we wanted and then copied that profile over to our Default User profile and the Java autoupdate setting under the Java Control Panel was disabled for all new users. We did the same thing under Vista, but the auto update setting was ignored and re-enabled for all new users.
I read through the settings for the deployment.properties file located at the below link, but there is nothing there to control the auto update setting.
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/deployment/deployment-guide/properties.html
Thus, we can't get the auto update setting to be disabled in the default user profile so it will in turn be disabled for all new users that log into the computer. This is extremely frustrating.
The other equally frustrating problem we have run into under the Vista environment is that when you run the Java Control Panel, the option to disable the auto update check is "grayed out" and the user can't uncheck this option to disable auto update. We have found you must be an administrator before this option is no longer grayed out. Since none of our thousands of users are admins, this is also a problem for us. (This option works fine for a standard user if you are on a XP machine though. It's just Vista where things have changed.)
I've sent repeated emails to Sun in the past asking for help, but they never replied.

  • How do I disable the itunes auto-update for all users?

I need to know if there is a way to disable the auto-update feature for all users that login to a windows XP computer.
I have disabled it for the account currently logged in as well as copy that user profile to the "default user" profile. However I have about 300 users that do not have admin rights that still get prompted to install updates.
Is there a way to disable the auto update as the default for all users. So that only I get the auto update notifications?

    Bump -
No responses in over a week?
Does no one else run a network where users don't have admin rights?

  • Aluminum Keyboard Update for Tiger users???

Why isn't the Aluminum Keyboard Update available for Tiger users? Some of us cannot upgrade to Leopard yet due to other third-party software we need to run. My computer is still under AppleCare, and the keyboard is brand new, but has the repeating key problem. Apple has a fix, but it's not being made available for an OS they are supposedly still supporting. BTW, I bought this new keyboard because the old one wore out. But I don't have full, proper functionality of it because of lack of support by Apple. What gives??
    Thanks, Claire

I took my keyboard to the Apple Store and was told that the "firmware" update was actually software that resided on the computer, not something that downloaded to the device, like every other "firmware" update I've ever heard of. So I guess I'm out of luck and will have to keep going back to correct my repeated letters until I can quit having to run Quark 6.5 and can upgrade to Leopard. I don't understand why they're calling it firmware if it isn't reprogramming the device itself. I guess I can try turning off the repeat function for the keyboard in the System Prefs as well and see if that's a workaround.
    Thanks for your help.

  • IPod shuffle software update status different between users

With User 1, iTunes 7.0.2 says my 2G iPod shuffle is up to date (software version: 1.0). If I switch to User 2 and plug the same iPod shuffle into the dock, then iTunes says there's an iPod sofware update available (version 1.0.1). I decline the offer to update. Going back to User 1, no update is suggested (version 1.0 is current).
Why does iTunes report a different software update status depending on which user is active? I don't think there's a software version 1.0.1 for the 2G iPod shuffle.
There is no ~/Library/iTunes/iPod Software Updates/ folder for either user.

I found the solution on MacOSXHints:
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20060912144151766
Summary: on the Summary tab, click Restore (will pop up a confirmation dialog), then Cancel, and the Update button then indicate version 1.0.1 for User 1. Then click Update. iTunes did the update, no muss, no fuss.
