Update contacts on Iphone or Mac?

Do I update contact information on my Iphone or mac?

You can do either. Contacts updated on your phone will automatically be updated in your Address Book, and vice versa. If you are using iCloud, changes you make to contacts on one device will sync to the other devices.

    I don't have icloud on my mac, how can I update contacts onto iphone, that does have icloud?

    If your contacts are correct and up-to-date on the Mac, check out the basic syncing article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1386
    just go to the 'info' tab after selecting the device in iTunes and sync from there.
    Good luck

  • Deleted duplicate contacts from icloud and want to sync updated contacts to iphone and ipad?

    Can anyone help with this?
    Deleted duplicate contacts from icloud and want to sync updated contacts to iphone and ipad?  Did it on icloud cause have duplicates on ipad and iphone also

    Check icloud.com to be sure you contact list is correct there.  If it is, just go to Settings>iCloud on your device and turn Contacts to On to sync the contacts to your device.  If contacts are already set to On and you still see duplicates, you may be viewing a duplicate contact group in addition to the iCloud contacts.  Open Contacts, tap Groups, then tap any groups other than iCloud to uncheck them, then tap Done.  See if the duplicates are still there.

  • How can I transfer contacts from IPHone to Mac?,

    First of all, thanks to everyone who will help me.
    I syncronised many times my Iphone 3GS with Mac and everything was OK (apart that I found all the contacts twice or 3 times in Iphone).
    I backuped Iphone sometimes on the Mac and others on ICloud.
    Last time, I found that the adress book in Mac was almost completely empty (only 10 or so contacts, all the groups empty) but I have everything in the IPhone.
    How can I now get to transfer all the contacts from IPhone to Mac?
    Thanks again
    Anna

    Deleted the contacts from where?  The device? the computer? both?
    Use the backup of the computer to put them back if they have been deleted off the computer.  Once that is done, they can be synced to the iPhone.

  • HT204150 updating contacts on Iphone

    My contacts on Iphone are not updated via Icloud to my mac book. I must have a setting wrong?

    In Apple's Contact program it alows you to seperate your contact into 'groups,' ie: doctor, family, etc.. That's what I'd like to sync.
    Don't know if that is the same as a distribution list.

  • How to transfer SMS and Contacts from iPhone to Mac?

    I want to transfer my all important SMS and Contacts to computer on Mac because the box is full for a few days.So i am looking for the effective program to help me back up my stuffs. Having said that, any suggestions for a good iPhone manager/iPhone transfer software,which is better to be free without payment.
    I'm desperate any help would be appreciated...

    Google "PhoneView" or "iPhone Explorer" but you should be syncing your contacts with your Mac's Address Book anyway via iTunes or MobileMe. That's the way it is designed to be used.

  • Using iCal, and Contacts on iPhone and Mac

    I love that I can take my contacts, and add a birthday to them, but how come birthdays don't show up in my Calender? Is there any way to see this info without looking directly at the address card in the contact screen?
    Thanks!

    O.k., back on my MAC so here's what you do:
    1. Set Birthday's on in iCal. On iCal go to iCal.Preferences.General and click on the Show Birthdays check box. This will add a Birthday's Calendar to your iCal which will show any birthdays loaded to your contacts.
    2. iTunes - when you connect the iPhone access the Info folder on the iPhone and either select Sync al calendars or selected calendars that include the Birthday's calendar.

  • How do I upload contacts from iPhone to Mac Address book

    I recently purchased both an iPhone and MacBook Pro. I have all my contacts in my phone, and want to sync them with address book on the mac. But when I go to Address Book on the laptop to import, the iPhone is not listed under devices. How do I access/sync the contacts from my phone?

    iTunes handles the sync. Post in the iPhone forums.

  • My contacts on iPhone and Mac are not the same

    Hi there,
    Can someone advise me how do I get my Contacts on my Mac to be the same as my iPhone. My main contacts is in my iPhone but my Mac shows less contacts.

    To sync them with iCloud, you'll need to copy them to the iCloud account and then disable contact syncing with your exchange account (so you don't see duplicate contacts on your phone).  To do this, do the following:
    Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (any iCloud contacts will still be in iCloud).
    Download the app My Contacts Backup.  (If you have more than 500 contacts to transfer you will need the “Pro” version.  If you aren't sure how many you have, get the free version.  It will tell you if you have over 500 contacts when you run it.)  Use the app to back up the remaining contacts on your phone (from your exchange account) as a vCard attachment to an email.  Send this email to yourself and confirm that you have received it.
    Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On.
    Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section) and set this to iCloud.
    Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars…tap your exchange account and turn contacts syncing off.
    Open the My Contacts Backup email and tap the attachment to import the contacts from your exchange account back to your device, and to iCloud.  All your contacts should now be in iCloud and appear on icloud.com and your Mac.

  • Synching Microsoft Exchange/Outlook contacts from iPhone to Mac or PC

    At work, my wife's iPhone was synched through Microsoft Exchange Server to Outlook on a PC network. Now, we have no access to that server, but all the contacts are still living on the iPhone (under a separate email account. If that email account is deleted the contacts are deleted as well). There MUST be a way to synch those contacts back to either the Mac Address Book OR her laptop PC, right? I have researched everywhere and cannot find an answer. We have tried many times to synch the phone to both Mac and PC through iTunes with "Sync Contacts" checked, but no luck. They remain on the phone, but do not move over. I have also tried opening the SQLitedb file from the backup, but it is very cryptic, with different filed split among different databases. Any help saving her 1200 contacts would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks. I tried idrive lite and its pretty good. I was able to backup all of my contacts to the online site. The only problem is that they only provide the option to restore the contacts to another mobile device. Not to another computer. Its still better than nothing but I would still prefer to be able to transfer the contacts to my home computer so that I have the same contact list in my personal outlook on my home computer. I tried exporting the contacts from my work computer but my company uses outlook 2003 and at home I use outlook 2007 which wont recognize the pst files from the 2003 version. Also, outlook won't export export vcard or vsc files. It only provides the option to inport them. So far idrive lite is the best solution I've found but if anyone else has any suggestions I'd be very appreciative.
    Thanks.

  • I cannot transfer my contacts from iPhone to mac?

    I cannot transfer my contacts and data from iphone to my macbook

    I'm having the same problem with iPhone 4 and MacBook Pro. I purposely separated my contacts on the phone from the Mac's address book, but am going to get a new iPhone 5 and I don't want to lose my phone contacts, so I wanted to be sure to sync to the Mac. Doesn't anyone have a solution?
    Thanks,

  • New/Updated contacts on iPhone 4 not syncing to iMac Address Book

    Greetings,
    My problem:
    When syncing my iPhone 4 with iTunes 10, iTunes will sync contacts FROM my iMac to the iPhone. It will not sync new or changed contacts from the iPhone TO my iMac (no two-way syncing).
    Further background:
    I recently had Apple replace my hard drive and restored from a Time Machine backup. Everything is working properly except this.
    What I'm using:
    * iPhone 4 w/ iOS 4.1 (latest)
    * iMac 2.4 GHz Intel running OS X 10.5.8
    * iTunes 10.1 (54)
    Example:
    If I create a new contact on my iMac, it syncs with the iPhone as expected.
    On the iPhone, If I edit the contact originally created on the iMac and re-sync, the changes do NOT sync back to my iMac.
    If I create a new contact on my iPhone, it does not sync with Address Book.
    What I've tried so far that has not worked:
    1.) Unchecked and re-checked "Sync Address Book Contacts" in iTunes (one-way syncing works fine)
    2.) Used the "Replace information on this iPhone" for Contacts within iTunes (contacts from iMac overwrite iPhone as expected)
    3.) I had a trial MobileMe subscription that I cancelled months ago.
    Went into the iPhone > Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > deleted the MobileMe account, keeping existing data on my iPhone.
    4.) Unchecked "Sync Address Book Contacts"
    * Went to /users/[username]/Library/Application Support/AddressBook, deleted AddressBook-v22.abcddb and /Images
    * Went to iSync app > Preferences > Reset Sync History
    * Verified new addressbook and /Images folder were created
    * Re-checked "Sync Address Book Contacts"
    * Performed another sync using iTunes
    (One-way sync works fine)
    5.) Deleted all Address Book entries
    * Unchecked "Sync Address Book Contacts"
    * Went to /users/[username]/Library/Application Support/AddressBook, deleted AddressBook-v22.abcddb and /Images
    * Went to iSync app > Preferences > Reset Sync History
    * Verified new addressbook and /Images folder were created
    * Re-checked "Sync Address Book Contacts"
    * Performed another sync using iTunes
    Can anyone offer some suggestions? I have my address book backed up, but I'd really like to be able to perform a two-way sync from my iPhone to my iMac's Address Book.
    Thanks,
    Rob

    No need for apologies!  Yes, it was checked.  Looks like I have solved the problem now and it was something very basic - in the preferences of Contacts on the iMac.  Looks like it's all synced now.  Thanks for replying!
