Update Date Picture Taken in Photo

Since PE 4 only updates the Date Picture taken in the catalog and not the image file itself, is anyone aware of another product that will read the PE 4 catalog and update the image files?

FWIW, there are three date fields in my Canon Exif data: date modified
(camera), date taken (image), and date digitized (image). They all contain
the same values. I have a Command (Dos) based utility, Exifutils. It will
change all three fields in one command (haven't figured out if I can do them
separately...). The date field in the Windows Explorer 'Date Picture Taken'
column will reflect the edited date. Under 'Date Modified' WE will show
the date when the modification was done.

  • When I import photos taken from my Windows PC using a flash drive, the photos in iPhoto are dated as the date last modified on PC instead of date picture taken.

When I import photos to my iMac, taken from my Windows PC using a flash drive, the photos in iPhoto are dated as the date last modified on PC instead of date picture taken.

Then you need to ask a PC forum how to export the photos there to include the Metadata (specifically the EXIF data)
If there is valid EXIF data iPhoto uses it (the EXIF data is originally added to the photo by the digital camera) and if there is no EXIF data then the only inofrmaiton IPhoto have available is the file metadata and that is what is used
You can correct the dates in iPhoto using the batch change data/time command

  • Organize Finder Items by Date Picture Taken

Will the Finder allow organizing image files by the date picture taken information in their EXIF data? I only seem to find Date Created or Date Modified.

Well, on XP and Vista, it just alphabetizes the files without the appropriate data; and I do find it surprising that a system so focused on lifestyle features (photos, websites, videos, etc.) left out being able to see photos organized without importing them into iPhoto.
    Is there an add-on
not that I've ever heard of.
or applescript that could add such a column?
certainly no simple apple script can do something like this, maybe apple script studio can, I'm not sure.

i lost my macbook pro and i just got a new one. how can i retrieve the pictures taken with photo booth(old laptop) to my new laptop?

Well if you don't have the laptop to get the storage drive out of it, and you don't have any previous backups how do you expect to get the photo's?
PhotoBooth is just a program, it stores the files on the computers storage drive, if the computer is lost so are your photo's.
There is nothing you can do to delete or retrieve them using your new computer unless you stored them online someplace.
DId you save them online? iDisk or something else?
I don't use such services because my data is mine and not theirs to snoop through, so if your looking for that sort of help I can't assist you any.

  • How do I get videos and pictures taken in the same event to show in a slideshow in the order they were taken?

How do I get videos and pictures taken in Photos and the same Event to show in the order they were taken? Pictures and videos are seperated with videos at the end of both Photos and the Event.

    You're welcome.
What's likely happened is that when you transferred the video to the new machine they lost their dates.
Photos use the Exif metadata to record the date and time of the shot. This is quite different from the date and time of the file, which can change as the file is copied from place to place. Video doesn't have Exif, and so iPhoto uses the file date, and that's changed.
Simply, there's no absoultely reliable way to date video.
Try assign dates with the Batch Change command under the Photos menu.

My iPhone 5s on ios 8.1.2 is stuck at Apple logo or recovery mode.. To fix this issue, i need to update it to ios 8.2 through itunes.. I want to ask that my data i.e. Photos and other personal data would be removed after updating it or not..?
if yes then how can i save my data or get out of recovery mode.. Is there any safe mode or something like that on which i could access my data..
P.S. I have not taken any backup of my iPhone on itunes..
Please help me sort out this issue..

Recovery mode doesn't mean that all your data is already lost. You only lose your data if you restore it.
When you plug the phone is into iTunes hold down the home button. iTunes may then give you the option JUST to update the software first. This should not get rid of any data.
However, if iTunes is only giving you the option to RESTORE and update, then you will lose your data I'm afraid.
    Hope that helps!

  • Sorting photos by date/time taken, when date/time created is not an option?

I'm so sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, but I can't find it on Google or in the forums...
I need to sort wedding photos from multiple photographers by date taken so I can sort through the wedding as a full event. Sorting by the date/time the file was created will not suffice because I had to convert all photos from one of my photogs from NEF to DNG (D610 files not compatible with CS5), so the 'date created' for those DNG file is days later than all the other images. Thus, sorting by "date created' batches all the photos from one of my photogs together at the end.
Is there any option in Bridge that will actually read the metadata and sort by the shoot time of the image?
    Thanks for any help!

There has been a known bug in PSE9 although only affecting raw images and caused by the Camera Raw 6.4 update. The timestamp gets changed by one hour each time an image is modified. I don’t know if your issue is related but the work around is to revert to ACR 6.3
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/915/cpsid_91582.html
The only other work around is to temporarily switch to folder location view, if your images were imported from a single folder. Click on the display button (near top right in Organizer) to change the browser view. If you click on the folder in the left hand pane the files will normally be in sequential file name order which usually mirrors the date/time taken. From the folder location it’s possible to create an instant album, which can then be used as the basis of a slideshow.

  • 'Date Taken' on Photos

I can't see in the information of photos when was the picture taken. It only provides 'Date created' and 'Date Modified' but that's not the date when the picture was taken. When I switch on windows, the file properties provides the data. Will somebody help me on this without switching to Windows.

If you’re viewing in the Finder then all you’ll see is the file data.
You can see the Exif data - which contains information on the Photo, rather than the file, in iPhoto, Preview or any serious photo app.

  • Extraction of  picture taken time and date

Is there anyway to extract picture taken date and time through midlet code

    Hi Susmitha,
Most camera devices (including those built into phones) store metadata about the picture in the Exif header of jpeg files. This includes the time the picture was taken, shooting conditions and sometimes a GPS fix.
Drew Noakes' library lets you access that data from Java SE. I believe the principles will be the same on Java ME, but the code will probably need some porting before it works.
If your photos are taken with the same device as the one you are accessing them on, then another, simpler, option is to just read the time stamp of the photo file. (look up FileConnection.lastModified()). It will usually be the same as the recording time. But this only works if you know that the photo will not be manipulated. Saving changes to the photo will naturally modify the file's timestamp, so in that case, the Exif data is a better option.

  • Photos on Mac Yosemite, how can I add location to pictures taken with my Canon camera? Thx

I want to add location to pictures taken with an "independent" camera, Canon, as I used to in iPhoto.
    Is this possible ?

That's correct - Photos supports geotagging, but only allows viewing of that information. Once an image is in Photos, geotags cannot be added, deleted, or edited. This post suggests some apps for editing geotags outside of the Photos app. As you mentioned, you can edit the geotags in iPhoto, export to the finder and then import to Photos. I would guess (and hope!) we'll see this added in an update, and hopefully soon!

Try rebooting your iPhone (holding the home button and sleep/wake button together until the apple logo appear)

  • HT4972 I recently updated my iPHone to iOS5 and I worked o.k. Then I updated my wife's iPhone and instead of reloading all her data, it loaded my data: pictures, phone numbers, etc.  Where is my wife's data and how do I re-load to her iPhone?

I recently updated my iPhone to iOS5 and it worked o.k.  Then I updated my wife's iPhone and it loaded all my data (pictures, phone numbers, etc.) to her phone.  All her data is gone.  Is there a way that we can re-load her data?

If there is a backup somewhere that had her data you can restore that backup.  Otherwise, all her data has been overwritten by yours.

  • I need help proving the date tag on a photo stored in my iPhoto is from the date it was sent to my iphone/date it was imported into iphoto - and that it is NOT the date the photo was actually taken.  Please help!

I need help proving the date tag on a photo stored in my iPhoto is from the date it was sent to my iphone/date it was imported into iphoto - and that it is NOT the date the photo was actually taken.   I recieved a photo via text on my iphone and then I synced my iphone to my macbook and now it is in iphoto.  I already know that the date on the photo per the tag that shows up on it in iphoto is NOT the date the photo was actually taken.  I need article or literature or something confirming the tag is from when it was sent to the iphone and/or when it was imported.  I greatly appreciate some assistance!

All I am trying to do is find something on a forum board or article etc stating that the the date showing in iphoto could be the date it was imported or synced or sent to me and not the actual date taken.
The date on the photo could be anything because you can edit the date with iPhoto or any of 100 apps, free and paid for. So, the date on the photo will prove nothing, I'm afraid.

Has anybody any idea, why my jpeg-picture upoaded to Photo Stream does not appear on my iPhone S4 like all the other pictures before?
Ok, it's a 4 year old picture, but taken with a digital camera as jpeg...! This cannot be the problem really, but I'm despaired after trying since days...! Thank you all for any hint you've got for me!

If you asking me, I would suggest to additonally use a second storage service which also allows you to store your pictures over the 30 days period. I personally use Dropbox with automatic upload for that (https://db.tt/cMEgDUFZ), but there are also other storage services like Flickr for example.
