Updated my Windows 8 and updated Itunes to newest versions and now my Ipod 7th Generation Nano is not recognized on my computer or Itunes anymore. I have went thru all steps instructed and offered here so what else can I do?

Recently have updated my Windows 8 and updated Itunes to mose recent version available. My Ipod 7th Generation Nano worked, connected and synced without difficulty prior to this updating, Now when I plug into my computer it will pop up Itunes but say that this Ipod is not recognized. I have done multiple steps offered to try and nothing has worked. Any other suggestions would be helpful. I just got this Ipod for Christmas and now can't even use it to sync content anymore.

Try a different cable. And are you connecting directly to your computer or through a USB hub?

Wow the customer service is even worse. Does Apple want me to go around jailbreaking my iPod now so I can use something that actually recognizes my product?

  • Ipod nano and shuffle are not recognized by my computer or itunes

When I plug in the ipod, both the nano 6th generation and the shuffle, the device is not recognized by my computer or itunes.  It will be recognized by my computer for a few seconds and then disappears.  The device will show up on the right side of the screen in itunes but not on the left.  The troubleshooter tells me it is a compatability issue.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes, i have turned off the compatabilty mode, nothing works.

What displays on the iPods screen when you have it connected?  I assume you have tried another known working USB cable?
Is iTunes up do date on your PC (currently at 10.7)?
Have you tried connecting to another PC or Mac?

  • My iPod classic is not recognized by my computer or iTunes

My iPod is not recognized by my computer or iTunes. It worked fine a few months ago but now it doesn't even sync. I tried everything from turning it on/off, reinstalling iTunes, checking the connectivity issues and etc. After going through the connectivity test the only thing I found odd was that it said that the iPod classic running firmware 1.1.2 is not connected. Could that be the issue? And if so, how can I get that firmware running again?

I have the same issue with my ipod classic, and have gone through these steps. However, when i come to the step where it says to reinstall: "
Next, open the new version of iTunes and connect your iPod to your computer.
Select your iPod in the source list and click "Check for Update" under the Summary tab.   iTunes will check to see if your iPod needs to be updated and perform the update for you. "
there is no ipod listed in the source list to check for any updates under the summary tab. Itunes just DOES NOT see the ipod at all. And this is where I am stuck....further instructions PLEASE!!! Thank you....

  • What is the best way to sync a second Ipod (7th generation nano) to itunes

What is the easiest way to sync a second Ipod (7th gerneration nano)?  I want all my songs on both ipods.

iTunes treats each iPod separately, so you can set up each iPod's syncing as desired, without regard to the other one.  You can connect them both at the same time, and set them up differently or identically.
Here is a convenient way to set up automatic syncing, and in your case, keep both iPods in sync with each other.
I want all my songs on both ipods.
First, if your entire iTunes music library ("all of my songs") fits on the iPod, it will be easy.  Select the iPod in iTunes.  There is a row of "tabs" (starting with Summary).  Click on Music there.  Set it to Sync Music.  Below that, chose to sync Entire music library.  Apply the change.  Your entire music library syncs to your iPod.  Repeat for other iPod.  Any changes you make to your iTunes music library going forward syncs automatically to your iPods, when you connect them (or click the Sync button).
Otherwise, if your music library does not fit (or you want to be more selective), you need to set up the Music tab, but choose to sync Select playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  This is where you can keep it simple...
Create a new regular playlist in iTunes, and name it something like "iPod Songs."  Add ALL of the songs you want on your iPod to that playlist.  Back on the Music tab, find and select ONLY that new playlist under Playlists.  Apply the change.  The songs on that playlist sync to your iPod.  Repeat for other iPod.  Going forward, when you want to update songs on your iPods, just update that playlist (add and remove songs).  Changes you make to that playlist sync automatically to your iPods, when you connect them (or click the Sync button).

  • My 4th generation shuffle is not recognized by 'my computer' or by Itunes', what now?

This is the second IPod shuffle I've been through with the same issue.  It's not recognized on neither Itunes or 'my computer', therefore, Im unable to load anything onto the the shuffle.  The last time this happened, those were the symptoms I experienced before the entire unit went dead.  Any idea what I'm to do next?  I couldn't possibly get 2 x defective units. Anyone?

  • My iPod Shuffle 4th generation 2GB is not recognized by My Computer in Windows or under Devices in iTunes.

Everyone has the same problems. My iPod has been plugged in properly, I have followed all the support suggestions but nothing works. HELP PLEASE!

I have downloaded that utility but can not use it, as
when I plug the shuffle into the USB port, it is not
recognized by either computer I am using. I can not
reset or restore, because in order to do that the
computer would have to know the shuffle is plugged in
and it doesnt. I have tried this on two different
computers and get the same result, so I dont think
its a computer issue, its an ipod issue. I also used
to be albe to play the shuffle on the Xbox 360 and
    now can not.
Just as a check, did you actually follow the THESE directions...EXACTLY?
    Using iPod shuffle Reset Utility
    1. Quit all running applications on your computer.
    2. Open the iPod shuffle Reset Utility.
    3. Connect iPod shuffle to a USB port on your computer. Do not connect iPod shuffle to a USB port on your keyboard or other non-powered USB hub.
    4. Click the Restore button. If prompted, enter an Admin user name and password.
    5. The restore process will start.
    6. When it is complete, quit iPod shuffle Reset Utility and open iTunes to sync music to your iPod shuffle.

  • TS1538 My ipod touch still not recognized by my computer or itunes

I installed and reinstalled the newest version of Itunes and it isn't recognized by my computer or Itunes. • My ipod not recognized by the computer or itunes?

Ok, the iPod works fine playing music and watching videos and everything else it is supposed to, and it charges fine. But when i plug it up my PC to sync new music, the screen on the iPod does like normal and goes to the gray and orangeish screen that says Connected, then immediately says Disconnecting iPod and shows the little progress bar as if you had ejected it. How can it do this on it's own before anything has recognized it?
I have done everything that the Support on here has said, the 5 r's and all that, and nothing. Checked device manager on my computer and it actually says that is is plugged up and recognized, but has a yellow exclamation point beside it. The properties of it says this error...
"Windows cannot use this hardware device because it has been prepared for "safe removal", but it has not been removed from the computer. (Code 47)"
These errors occurred two days again until now, i have made no recent updates on my computer or iPod to have damaged anything but these problems randomly occur. it's really odd and if someone could help me it would be great.

Have you carefully worked through each and every suggestion in this Apple support document?

  • IPod 7th generation shows no music in menu, but does on iTunes

I operate on a Windows platform with iTunes SW ver 11.2.2.3 and an iPod 7th generation with SW version 1.0.3. Both identified as latest.
All was good until the battery drained out completely. I have since been able to synch music and audiobooks that show up on iTunes as being loaded on the iPod.
But when I use the iPod menu, the "Music" icon no longer takes me to the menu list (music, audiobiiks, etc) but to a screen with musical notes on it and says there's nothing.
Tried to synch it on an Apple computer and it worked. Reset it to the Windows computer and it doesn't.
    Anyone can help please?

I have had this same problem for over a month with a Win7 system. I have been working with AppleCare Support all along and we have even replaced the Nano twice without resolution. We tried different cables, different USB ports, uninstalled iTunes, ran CCleaner to correct registry errors, restarted, reinstalled iTunes, etc, etc several times. I posted my problem along with a lengthy explanation earlier tonight. I have documented everything that I have done with Apple and we are both stumped.
Lets hope someone can figure out what causes the directory on the Nano not to recognize that tracks have been loaded.

  • My new 8th gen iPod nano is 'not recognized' by my computer. My computer runs on Windows 7, and I've installed and updated the latest versions of itunes etc, but still to no avail! I've tried different usb ports, troubleshooting...

My computer runs on Windows 7, and I've installed and updated the latest versions of itunes etc, but still to no avail! I've tried different usb ports, troubleshooting, etc... But it still says "One of the USB decuces arrached to this omputer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it".
The iPod is brand new, sent to me by Apple as part of the 1st gen replacement programme. I've been using the cable that came with the 1st gen iPod (I bought the first gen second hand) It always worked on my computer with the 1st gen iPod. So I was wondering, do you think I need to replace my cable in order for my PC to recognize my iPod or is it something else?
    Thanks

Try a different cable. And are you connecting directly to your computer or through a USB hub?
