Updating Feed URL :- Inadvertantly Updated Two Seperate Feeds to Same Feed

There are two seperate feeds in iTunes Music Store for Immaculate Heart of Mary Podcasts.
[1] http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/immaculate-heart-mary-homily/id294766875
[2] http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/immaculate-heart-mary-homily/id295664714
Originally these feeds were pointing to two different feed URLs. During the process of moving hosting solutions, both of these feeds are now pointing to the same feed:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/ImmaculateHeartOfMaryHomily-cast
One of these should point to the feed mentioned above, while the other one should point to the following feed:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/ImmaculateHeartOfMaryLivingtheliturgy-themass
Can you offer any suggestions on how I might update one of the feeds without updating the other. I have attempted to add the new-feed-url tag and using the ping service. While that worked for my local podcast feed, it did not work for the store.
Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You have painted yourself into a corner, I'm afraid. The 'itunes:new-feed-url' (which you would insert in the feed they are both using) should work perfectly well but will redirect both podcasts to the other feed, which won't get you anywhere.
You have two options, neither of them much fun. You could get one of the podcasts removed from the Store - instructions here - and submit your new feed as an entirely new podcast. You will probably need to make a small change in the title, as a bug in the Store software may tell you that the podcast has already been submitted: and of course you will lose any subscribers or comments. Incidentally the last person to post about having tried this was told to use the 'block' tag - obviously this is no good as it will block both podcasts.
The other option is somewhat uncertain. iTunes Support is notoriously unhelpful, often sending back form answers which often don't deal with the actual problem, or referring the questioner to the Discussions Forum (which may have sent the questioner there in the first place): however it has been known for someone to persuade Support to shift their podcast to a new URL, so it's worth trying. It's probably just a matter of luck who you get. To contact iTunes Support, go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'.

The feed validates, the source code shows all of the necessary header info for itunes - what am I missing... why isn't it updating?
    Thanks for your help!

iTunes is looking for a feed at
    https://www.calvaryqc.org/xml/podcasts/02080425.xml
and not finding it. The connection is a secure one - https - and when tested in FireFox reports that it uses an untrusted certificate: but even over-riding that shows that there is no file at that address. It is to that feed that you have to add the 'itunes:new-feed-url' tag (it's present on the feed you link to but simply links to the same feed so it's redundant).
Unless you can place a feed at the URL I quote above which iTunes can read (as it must have done once as there are episode showing in the Store, albeit rather out-of-date) you will not be able to redirect iTunes to your new feed.

  • How do I sync my Iphone to two seperate machines with same itunes account.

I have two laptops one for home and one for personal. But I download music on both. Both are logged on under my own itunes account. But when I try and put the music on from the second computer. itunes will let me know that it will sync, but its going to erase everything from phone first. And I dont want to do that. How do I leave my phones data intact and just add music from my other computer?

    Sync iPod/iPad/iPhone with two computers
It isn't possible to sync an Apple device with two different libraries, however it is possible to sync with the same logical library from multiple computers. Each library has an internal ID and when iTunes connects to your iPod/iPad/iPhone it compares the local ID with the one the device normally syncs with. If they are the same you can go ahead and sync, otherwise iTunes will want to erase the content and reload. Manual management isn't an option with an iPhone since it still wants you to use a single library, and that won't sync plays.
I have my library cloned to a small 1Tb USB drive which I can take between home & work. At either location I use SyncToy 2.1 to update the local copy with the external drive. Mac users should be able to find similar tools. I can open either of the local libraries or the one on the external drive and update the media content of my iPhone. The slight exception is Photos which normally connects to a specific folder on a specific machine, although that can easily be remapped to the current library if you create a "Photos" folder inside the iTunes Media folder so that syncing the iTunes folders keeps this up to date as well. I periodically sweep my library for new files & orphans with iTunes Folder Watch just in case I make changes at one location but then overwrite the library with a newer copy from the other. Again Mac users should be able to find similar tools.
As long as your media is organised within an iTunes Music or Tunes Media folder, in turn held inside the main iTunes folder that has your library files (whether or not you let iTunes keep the media folder organised) each library can access items at the same relative path from the library folder so the library can be at different drives/paths on different machines. This solution ensures I always have adequate backups of my library and I can update my devices whenever I can connect to the same build of iTunes.
When working with an iPhone earlier builds of iTunes would remove any file not physically present in the local library, even if there was an entry for it, making manual management practically redundant on the iPhone. This behaviour has been changed slightly but it will still only permit manual management with a library that has the correct internal ID. If you don't want to sync your library between machines on a regular basis just copy the iTunes Library.itl file from the current "home" machine to any other you want to use, then clean out the library entries and import the local content you have on that box. However you lose the other benefits of syncing.

  • Exchange 2013 Site Resilience - Basic questions for setup in two seperate AD Sites, same domain

I am just getting ramped up with Exchange 2013 and have a friend that I am assisting with planning an exchange 2013 deployment for.  I am not asking for step by step directions for setup, just asking for a basic overview so I can dig in to this and
    assist.
Goal is to have an exchange server, one in NC and one in Switzerland in an active/passive mode for site resilience.  Both servers will be multi role servers.
This is a small organization, less than 50 users and on a budget for equipment.  HQ is in NC and the server will have all roles installed on a single server. Switzerland will have only one Exchange server for fail over.  There is only
one domain total with two AD Sites.
    My questions for clarity -
    1. Can I create a Site resilient deployment with two Exchange Multi Role servers in these locations?
    2. Currently, the organization does not have a Load Balancer.  Will this be required?
    3. They do not have a third location for a Witness Server, what issues could potentially happen if the witness sits in one of the two sites?
    4. Any other basics for this design are much appreciated.  I am reading a lot, however a little confused as I read through the requirements.
Thanks for your input and direction!

    Hi
Please find below answers to your questions.
    1. Can I create a Site resilient deployment with two Exchange Multi Role servers in these locations?
    Yes
    2. Currently, the organization does not have a Load Balancer.  Will this be required?
No you don't need to have a load balancer. As you are setting up the infrastructure in Active / Passive mode you don't need a dedicated LB for this.
    3. They do not have a third location for a Witness Server, what issues could potentially happen if the witness sits in one of the two sites?
The issue with the witness server in primary or DR site is if your witness server is not responding your DAG won't work properly (failover). If you don't have a 3rd site then you can setup a witness server in your primary site and Alternate witness server
    to your DR site.
    4. Any other basics for this design are much appreciated.  I am reading a lot, however a little confused as I read through the requirements.
I would recommend to use Exchange sizing calculator and technet is the best resource for you :)
Kindly mark this as answer if it fulfill your requirements. :)

  • How do I move my feed URL?

According to the Tech Specs page on the Apple site for Podcasting, it's possible to move your feed to another host without having to resubmit the new feed to iTunes. This is what it says...
"Podcasters occasionally need to move their feed from one location to another. In this case, you should not remove your feed. If possible, you should set your web server to return a 301 error and redirect when receiving a request for the old feed. Doing so will cause both the iTunes Music Store and the iTunes clients that have subscribed to your podcast to pick up the new feed URL."
This is great! I have just republished my podcast to a different server and now want to tell the world (including iTunes) about it. Apparently, all I have to do is put in the <itunes:new-feed-url>
FYI my old feed is: http://homepage.mac.com/ghreynolds/GuarroCasts/podcast.xml
    My new feed is: http://guarro.jellycast.com/pod/podcast.xml
It seems that the Spec sheet that I'm reading from assumes that I'm brighter than what I really am. I don't understand how to do it. It says...
"This tag allows you to change the URL where the podcast feed is located. It is added at the <channel> level. The feed format is: <itunes:new-feed-url>http://newlocation.com/example.rss</itunes:new-feed-url>"
Where is the <channel> level? Where do I enter this information?
Also, do I tag this on the end of my old feed? If so, where do I put it so that iTunes sees it as an update?
I'm very confused and I'm sure it's an easy answer.
    Someone help me??

I use Podcast Maker to upload my Podcasts with and I asked them. They knew what I was on about and did it for me quickly and easily.

  • I inadvertently have two Apple Podcast ID's on ONE feed URL

    Hi,
My first post here... I assume Apple support reads this...
I updated our old Podcast on the Book of Acts with a new one on the Book of John, but I used the same feed URL namely, http://www.raystedman.org/messages.rss .
The new podcast is working fine EXCEPT when I go the the iTunes Store to find and subscribe to it by typing in Ray Stedman - the subscribe page is the OLD Acts page (which should be gone) and not the new First John page.
What's interesting is that if you click the Acts Podcast subscribe icon you get the FIrst John Podcast (and you get the correct FIrst John intro page when you click on the circled arrow to the left of the name "Expository Studies in the Book of Acts)!
I can't figure out how to change this... Again, I have two Podcast ID's for one feed URL - this isn't right, right??
Does Apple support have to fix this problem?
The two Podcast ID's are: 74271389 and 218826642
    Help! Thanks! Bert

  • Update Podcast Feed URL

I'm trying to move my podcast feed location. I made the new feed, then used the "itunes:new-feed-url" tag in the original feed.
When I did the podcast ping, it told me the correct (new) url of the feed. But after nearly two weeks of waiting, the feed hasn't updated at the iTunes store.
And I double-checked that the feed validates, and it does.
The original feed can be found at http://www.hopecbc.org/am.xml/.
The new feed can be found at http://www.hopecbc.org/xml_am.xml/.

  • Impossible to update feed url in iTunes

Hey there. Some time ago, iTunes got it into it's little head that the feed url for my netcast site is "http:\\\\feeds.feedburner.com\ \fpg". (there isn't a space between the last two slashes, but if I don't put it there, the formatting gets all wonky)
Needless to say, this is not the case. The problem is, I can't seem to get it to update, since it needs the "original RSS feed link" (aka the broken one) for the new-feed-url tag to work. But since the original link can't ever work, I can't find a way to fix it in iTunes without resubmitting everything. Any ideas?

OK, after a few weeks of getting no answers from the official help desk, I figured to just punt and resubmit. Unfortunately I can't because iTunes seems to think the feed is already submitted.
Is there anyway I can talk to a real person who can just switch this over? This is getting ridiculous.

  • My feed won't update after two weeks

    Hi,
I'm having trouble with iTunes reading my feed. I updated it two weeks ago, but still get the April update.
    My feed: http://trackzion.com/trackzion-podcast.xml
My iTunes Store link:  https://itunes.apple.com/mx/podcast/trackzion.-musica-cine-clips/id615000588?l=e n
    Thanks,

You have two errors in your feed. Firstly, the 'guid' tag for episode 412 is the same as the one for episode 413 - iTunes uses these tags to determine whether there is a new episode and does no show episodes with a 'guid' tag the same as one which has already been posted.
More seriously, iTunes cannot read your feed at all. Your 'itunes:summary' tag for episode 411 reads:
<itunes:summary>Tracks de A.G., Toteking & Shotta con Big Hozone, Smooth Da Hustler ...(etc)
You cannot have an ampersand ('&') by itself in an XML feed because it is used to indicate the start of a code sequence which in this case is never completer, thus wrecking the entire feed.
You need to replace it either with the word 'and' or the code
    &amp;
There are a number of other instances of isolated ampersands. Some of these go back a long way - has your feed ever worked for subscribing? I would expected it not to have as a result. The Store doesn' seem thrown by this but the iTunes application evidently is.
The Store is not showing episodes 412 as I explained; there appears to be no episode 413; episode 415 was posted only two days ago and though it usually takes 1-2 days for a new episode to appear in the Store it can take longer. The Store may get round to showing episode 415 eventually as it doesn't seem thrown by the ampersands, but you need to go through the feed and remove them so that your feed can be subscribed to. You should subscribe yourself to check it works (it's a good idea to do this after each new episode anyway to make sure there isn't a problem).

  • Alternate ways to update RSS Feed URL in iTunes Store

    Hey all,
Ok, so I am having issues with updating my iTunes Store RSS URL. Here's the storyin a nutshell. If any of you have experience with this i would really appreciate some help, because I have been stuck for week now.
I started my podcast using Podbean.com as a host, and when I first submitted my podcast URL to th iTunes Store, I used the RSS URL that podbean gave me which was http://unfilteredandrew.podbean.com/feed/. A few weeks later, I decided to move my host to SquareSpace, therefore I have a new RSS URL for the podcast now. I understand the directions frovided by Apple on how to change the URL by inserting the <itunes:new-feed-url> tags into the XML file. This is where the problem lies. Podbean.com is not able to instert this tag into my the XML file (its a long story, I have been dealing with thier incompitent customer service for weeks now). Let's assume for now that this method is not optional.
SO my question to you guys is - is there another way to update the RSS URL feed? Currently the iTunes Store see's  http://unfilteredandrew.podbean.com/feed/as my RSS feed, but I want it to see the NEW one which is: http://andrewunfiltered.squarespace.com/podcast?format=rss
    Please help!!
    Kellen

Ignore the 301 redirect - this is really intended for other rss readers than iTunes.
If you are creating a feed somehow and submitting that to Feedburner, which then passes it on to iTunes, and if you can add the tag to that original feed it will also appear in the Feedburner feed and the redirect will take place.
If you are creating the feed only in Feedburner by entering details, there you cannot directly edit the feed - I don't know whether Feedburner provides a way of doing this: most online podcast creation services don't.
If that's the case then you will have to abaondon the old feed. You should attempt to get the old podcast removed from the Store - instructions here (though there have been a number of reports that iTunes Store staff are simply not bothering to carry out this process) - and submit your new feed as an entirely new podcast. You will probably need to make a small change in the title, as a bug in the Store software may tell you that the podcast has already been submitted: and of course you will lose any subscribers or comments.

  • My feed won't update

I changed my feed url and put a tag in the xml - I made a mistake with the tag but corrected it and its now ok but iTunes seems to be ignoring it - its a week since I corrected the tag and it won't update - I've verified the feed and pinged it many times but no luck - what can I do? The podcast is Green News in 1 - the old feed is http://www.doubleyew.com/greenpodcast.xml
    The new feed is http://www.greenstuff.net/greenpodcast.xml

  • My podcast feed won't update on iTunes. Why? And what can I do to fix?

I do a weekly podcast and hasn't updated since Sept 21st for whatever reason. Even though the rss feed shows the new episode with the enclosure link, it's not updated on iTunes. I use libsyn.com to upload the audio files and then use the enclosure links they supply me with to put on a small blog post in blogger. I then send the blogger RSS feed to send to iTunes, which has worked for 31 episodes... until now, when I've tried to upload episode 32.
The blogger feed I use in feedburner is: http://muaythaiguypodcast.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?=rss
The feedburner feed I send to iTunes is: http://feeds.feedburner.com/lfqKK
I tried changing the feedburner feed, but that didn't do anything. I'm also in the process of redesigning my website using wordpress, and have thought about using powerpress to keep the podcast updated. Would that be a good idea?
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance!

You have sent iTunes to the wrong feed URL. There is a feed at the URL you quote, but your iTunes Store page, which is at
    https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/muay-thai-guy-podcast/id636798781
is looking for a feed at
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/lfqKK
There is no file at that address. So now you have painted yourself into a corner. I would guess that you aren't able to get a feed up at that Feedburner address? If you can, then you need to add the 'new-feed-url' tag to (or the original feed) as described here:
    http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/podcast.html#move
If you are unable to do that your only option (other than abandoning the podcast page and re-submitting as entirely new podcast) is to email Support at podcasts 'at' apple.com and ask them to change the Store to the correct URL - give them the URL of the Store page and both feed URLs. I can't guarantee they will do this, but it's quite possible and would solve your problem.
If you do have to resubmit, you will have to change the title slightly or you will be told the feed has already been submitted.

  • Updating my podcast to new location, iTunes not recognizing new feed(48hrs)

    Hi Podcasters,
I've been googling and reading about this the past few hours but I'm still at a loss. On Monday I moved my podcast - Pod Stories: Tales for everyone, which has been on iTunes since May 2007, to a new location. It's is the first time I've done this. The podcast and all the files therein is now located in my Sites folder on my iDisk.
Upon moving I changed my cover art and republished the audio files using the Podcast Maker software. It automatically 'pinged' to iTunes once completed.
It's been 48hrs and there is still no update on iTunes. I did the ping posted by Roger Wilmut1 using my iTunes i.d and it still came back stating the old url. I then did the second ping to the feed directly and it said podcast does not exist..?
I've read on Apple about a new feed URL command but to the life of me I really don't get it or understand how it's supposed to be done. Podcast Maker does everything for me and I can't read the raw .xml file.
It would be fab if someone in-the-know could help me out or explain things in a way I can grasp I am a techy but when it comes to coding/commands etc it's all a blur
My iTunes specific podcast number is: 253350746
My latest feed from Podcast Maker is: feed:file:///Volumes/io.creative/Sites/Pod-stories/podstories.xml
Cheers in advance. Hope this can be fixed up soon....

The URLs I copied into the original post came from Podcast Maker, I just pasted directly from the software. The new URL/feed is the io.creative one - the address is on my iDisk which I got with my Mac Me.com account.
Podcast Maker allows to feed directly to the 'sites' folder in the iDisk, does it automatically. The old URL feed is on a friend's company server. But now that I have this iDisk I thought best to move over the podcast to there.
Thanks for the example. So i paste it into the top line of the channel section in the old .xml file? Do I leave the original feed address in the file or replace it with the new one? This area is not very clear in the Apple docs online.
I have both podcasts at the Lemonz website
    New Feed:
    http://www.lemonzdream.com/podcasts/?feed=http://homepage.mac.com/io.creative/Po d-stories/podstories.xml
    Old Feed:
    http://www.lemonzdream.com/podcasts/?feed=http://www.larasethno.com/podcast/pods tories.xml
Of course at present the new feed is not yet on the iTunes directory.
    Cheers, Marc
