Updating oracle tables from sqlserver

I wish to have replication from sqlserver 7.0 to oracle 8.1.7
database done in real time. Since tranparent gateway only goes
from oracle to sqlserver, I guess ODBC connectivity is the last
resort. Are there any other tools or methods that I can
accomplish this task.
Thx
Daniel

Daniel,
you can create snapshot for ms tables. Example:
CREATE SNAPSHOT "KISELYOV"."SH_SEMIINPUT"
PCTFREE 10 PCTUSED 40 MAXTRANS 255 STORAGE ( INITIAL 128K NEXT
128K MINEXTENTS 1 MAXEXTENTS 4096 PCTINCREASE 0 FREELISTS 1
FREELIST GROUPS 1)
TABLESPACE "USERS"
BUILD IMMEDIATE
REFRESH COMPLETE
ON DEMAND
AS
select * from [email protected]
where ho.world in my case is a database link for Interbase
Server via ODBC.
And you can refresh those snapshots when you need.
Dmitry.

  • Is it possible to update internal table from database table

    Hello All:
              I know how to update database table from internal table in one shot (batch) but is the reverse possible? Can I update some fields in an internal table from a database table in one shot (without looping) because my internal table is huge? Could you please provide me any ideas how to acheive something like this? Thanks in advance and answers will be rewarded.
    thanks.
    Mithun

    Hello my friend,
    You can do it MAYBE , i think you can reverse the update doing a ROLLBACK, but only after you update....not after the program finishes..
    To update some fields at once use:
    UPDATE DBTABLE FROM TABLE IT_TABLE
    Hope this helps!!

  • How to display a oracle table from a java program?

    How to display a oracle table from a java program.
    Hello friends, I have written a Java program, using oracle 10g as backend.
    I want to display a oracle table as output. Im not getting how to display oracle table as a output table.. Pls help me
    Thank you

    jayanthds, you're not going to get a satisfactory
    answer to this here. it's too big a task to justbe
    quickly outlined in a forum - the reply "all youneed
    to do is to query you table and return it asJTable"
    is worthless, for example, since the solution to
    any problem can be distilled to such a
    soundbite, if need be. doesn't make the solutionany
    simpler
    essentially you're asking "how do I write adatabase
    application?". all you'll get is snippets of code
    that, when fitted together, will eventually helpyou
    do this, but you'll spend days and days comingback
    saying "right, I've done that, now what?" until
    either you or the forum gets frustrated with the
    whole affair and the process stops
    there are entire books written about this subject,
    and countless tutorials and guides on theinternet.
    you're better off going down that routehehehe.well, it's true! I used to have a manager that would outline the solution to a problem in a few lines of pseudocode, and then firmly believe that the actual solution would be just as brief and simple. shame his pseudocode included such lofty abstractions as "reformat all data"

  • Hi, Bapi or function module to update RBCO table from an internal table.

    I have a requirement to  update RBCO table from an internal table.  is there any Bapi or function module  or any other method other than update, modify statements.

    I don't know if any FM exists for your requirement. But you may like to copy it into a custom table and modify it according to your enterprise needs.

  • Insert data into oracle table from XML file

    I need to insert data into oracle table from XML file
    If anybody handled this type of scenario, Please let me know how to insert data into oracle table from XML file
    Thanks in advance

    The XML DB forum provides the best support for XML topics related to Oracle.
    Here's the FAQ on that forum:
    XML DB FAQ
    where there are plenty of examples of shredding XML into Oracle tables and such like. ;)

  • Create Oracle tables from DTD

    Hi,
    are there any tools to create oracle tables from dtd's

    None to my knowledge. DTD's don't provide any data type information or length information on the data, so at best such a tool could create you tons of VARCHAR2(4000) columns.

  • Tables are not coming to oracle model from sqlserver 2000 while using OMWB

    Hi,
    I am using oracle migration workbench to migrate SQL Server 2000 to oracle 9i. When capture source database and create the oracle model is run. only tablespace and users coming to Oracle model from sql server. Table are not coming. These table are owned by dbo in sql server and
    All other users in the database has full privilege on this tables. Do I need to some setup to get this tables
    In oracle model.
    Thanks
    Harish

    Try the following
    || This script sets the "dbo" to have the "sa" login.
    || NOTE: Server settings for the SQL Server instance must be set to
    ||"Allow modifications to be made directly to the system catalogs".
    || This is found under Server Setttings tab for server properties.
    UPDATE sysusers
    SET sid = (SELECT sid FROM master..sysxlogins WHERE name = 'sa')
    WHERE name = 'dbo'

  • Updating Oracle table with info from Sybase query

    I hope this is the correct forum for this question.
    I am fairly new to Java and JDBC. I am trying to figure out what the best method for updating information in Oracle tables with data from a Sybase table. I would prefer to use Oracle’s transparent gateway but this is not an option my company will pay for so I am creating a java stored procedure and using JDBC to connect to the Sybase database.
    The process I think I need to go thru is
    1.     Query an Oracle table to get the records that need to be updated and the “key” information to query the Sybase table with.
    2.     Use that result to query the Sybase database to get the fields that need to be updated in the Oracle table for those records.
    3.     Update the records on the Oracle table with the data from the Sybase query.
    I know I can just do this procedurally, row-by-row, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to accomplish this with SQL and no loops. Is there a way to make a result set available as a “SQL table” for another JDBC query?
    Basically what I would like to do is:
    OraQuery = “ select sybinfo from sometable where updated_date = null”;
    Statement orastmt1 = OraConn.createStatement();
    ResultSet Orars1 = orastmt1.executeQuery (OraQuery);
    SybQuery = “select update_date, sybinfo from sybtable where sybinfo = Orars1.sybinfo”;
    Statement sybstmt = SybConn.createStatement();
    ResultSet Sybrs = sybstmt1.executeQuery (SybQuery);
    OraUpdate = “update (select update_date from sometable, Sybrs where sometable.sybinfo = Sybrs.sybinfo) set update_date = Sybrs.update_date”;
    Statement orastmt2 = OraConn.createStatement();
    ResultSet Orars2 = orastmt2.executeQuery (OraUpdate);
    This may not be possible but if anyone has done something similar and wouldn’t mind sharing I would appreciate it. If there is a “better” way of accomplishing this I am open to suggestions.
    Thanks

    you can try using cachedRowSet() for the Oracle side query.
    The rows in this could be populated using the sybase side query's resultset and then all of this could updated into Oracle in one shot.

  • How to update an Oracle table from SSIS

    Hi there
    I've been working in a SSIS project where I need to update a table in an Oracle database that is located in a remote server. Until now I have used the OLE DB COMMAND to do this in a sql server database. To access the data that belongs to the Oracle database
    I am using an OCDB task, but this component does not work with an OLE DB COMMAN and I also need to do an inner join with a table in SQL.
    This is the schema of the query that I need to perform:
    UPDATE OT
    SET
    OT.COLUMN1= ST.COLUMN1,
    OT.COLUMN2= ST.COLUMN2,
    OT.COLUMN3= ST.COLUMN3,
    OT.COLUMN4= ST.COLUMN4,
    FROM
    ORACLE_TABLE AS OT INNER JOIN SQL_TABLE ST ON
    OT.COLUMN5 = ST.COLUMN5
    WHERE
    (((OT.COLUMN1) Is Null) AND
    ((ST.COLUMN2) In ('A1','A2','A3') AND
    ((ST.COLUMN3)<>'B1' Or (ST.COLUMN3) Is Null) AND
    ((ST.COLUMN7)=1));
    I am using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010.

    Hi dj2907,
    According to your description, I find that you ever asked a similar question in the forum, and I have answered it. The thread URL is there:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/aafd209f-56a0-4b09-9b82-0a57bcaa2448/ssis-updating-a-table-with-a-ole-db-command?forum=sqlintegratio
    Based on your current requirement, we should change your current provider to Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle supported by Microsoft or Oracle Provider for OLE DB
    recommended by Microsoft to access the data in Oracle. Then we can directly use the OLE DB Connection Manager for OLE DB Command. The following similar thread is for your reference:

  • How to update one table from another

    I am creating scripts in Oracle 10g. I have a table that has data corruption on three date fields.
    I created a table with the following sql of all the affected rows:
    CREATE TABLE LSU_INTER_FIX_DATE AS
    select request_id,received_date,planned_start_date, actual_start_date
    from lsu_inter2_requests_t
    where received_date < to_date('01-JAN-1900')
    OR planned_start_date < to_date('01-JAN-1900')
    OR actual_start_date < to_date('01-JAN-1900')
    I then repaired all of the rows with three data fixes
    UPDATE LSU_INTER_FIX_DATE
    SET received_date = TO_CHAR(received_date,'YY-MON') ||'-'||(TO_CHAR(received_date,'RRRR') + 2000)
    where received_date < to_date('01-JAN-1900')
    UPDATE LSU_INTER_FIX_DATE
    SET planned_start_date = TO_CHAR(planned_start_date,'YY-MON') ||'-'||(TO_CHAR(planned_start_date,'RRRR') + 2000)
    where planned_start_date < to_date('01-JAN-1900')
    UPDATE LSU_INTER_FIX_DATE
    SET actual_start_date = TO_CHAR(actual_start_date,'YY-MON') ||'-'||(TO_CHAR(actual_start_date,'RRRR') + 2000)
    where actual_start_date < to_date('01-JAN-1900')
    I now want to update the original base table with the corrected data so I wrote the following SQL UPDATE command:
    UPDATE lsu_inter2_requests_t aaa
    SET aaa.received_date = bbb.received_date
    FROM LSU_INTER_FIX_DATE bbb WHERE aaa.request_id = bbb.request_id
    When I run this sql Oracle returns the error “ORA-00933 SQL command not properly ended.” How do I update multiple rows in one table from another table that share the same primary key?

    where received_date < to_date('01-JAN-1900')
    When you want to produce a DATE datatype when starting with a string,
    you must use TO_DATE() on the SET line!
    (TO_CHAR(received_date,'RRRR') + 2000)since when do you do add characters (from TO_CHAR) with a constant number (2000)?
    You should NEVER EVER rely on implicit datatype conversion

  • Update a table from a view

    I'm a newbie and I would like any suggestions and help with my problem.
    I have a view, m_jobs, that is based on the view, sys.dba_jobs. I want to add a two fields, user_id and update, to keep track of user who is adding and modifying scheduled jobs. So I decided to create a table which has the two new fields and the same fields from m_jobs. I populated my new table with the values from m_jobs, but since I created a table, the values aren't always updated. How can I update the table whenever the values in my view change? Do I create a trigger for that and how would that go? Thanks in advance.
    -Kristine

    I interpret the question differently:
    A view is nothing more than a select statement on other tables. you cannot put triggers on it since it does not contain data (with the exception of 'instead of'-triggers, but they have a different meaning). What you should do is put a trigger on the underlying table(s) that dba_jobs is querying. That trigger should then populate your table.
    However, this is not recommended since it might interfere with Oracle normal operation (if your trigger fails (e.g. when your table is dropped), the original insert into the underlying dba_jobs table by Oracle will also fail potentially resulting in nasty problems with Oracle.
    Alternatively, you could make a job that checks for changes in the data and maintains the table. Or see if auditing can help (don't know if that is possible on Oracle internal tables).
    Hope this helps,
    L.

  • J2ME app.: To update Oracle table by sending data through mobile phone

    Hello all,
    I want to develop a mobile app to update the table of oracle database by sending the data through the SMS (Short Message Service). Means I'll send a sms through my cellphone containing some data and this data will be used to update the remote oracle database. How to do that?. Plz help.
    Thanx in advance.

    hi
    My problem is here I need to update the loginfo table with the file name, count of records, table name and datetime.
    For instance my dat file is XX.dat
    my database table name is Mytable
    Total record count is 10,00,000 records
    datetime as on this date
    the data in the XX.dat file I am using the controlfile (SQL*loader and dumping into the Mytable.Now my 10,00,000 records are dumped into the Mytable.
    This process information I want to store it in the loginfo table. For this I need the trigger
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER MYTRIGG
    AFTER INSERT ON MYTABLE
    Declare
    V_Count Number;
    Begin
    Select count(*) into V_Count from Mytable;
    Insert into Loginfo(TotalRecords,Date)
    Values(V_Count,Sysdate);
    end;
    This is the trigger I have used.But in my loginfo table instead of one value as 10,00,000 it is getting each record as row by row
    1
    4
    100
    1000
    10,00,000
    So I need only one value to be stored and at the same time my tablename and filename must also be stored.
    Kindly help me
