Updating the Item category in a Free of Charge order

Hi all,
I am currently working in a requirment on Free of Charge orders.
Existing scenrio is : In Free of Charge orders, if there is a BOM material is associated in the sub item, then the particular product's item category is not editable, so we can't alter it manually. SAP Note : 796926 says there are restrictions for usage of free of charge transaction types when the sub item involved is BOM.
Requirement: To make this item category editable in this scenario.
So we are currently looking for an option to make an enhancement to SAP standard program for this.  I tried to debug standard modules from the point where we open an order. But not able to find any significant place which deals with disabling this item category.
Any suggestions on the SAP CRM program which deals with this will be very helpful.  Thanks in advance.

hi
Once the BOM is created it is not possible to change the item category, either you have to delete the material and re-enter the material with different item category

  • Mass update of Item category in Sale order

    Hi all,
Kindly guide me to do the mass updating of item category in a sale order.
I want to update the item category of all the items in a sale order.
User will be giving large number of sale orders as an input.
How to proceed to achieve the same?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Regards,
    shaju

    Hi,
We can write a function module for this by getting an input it want to change this..For eachinput we can activate this in a loop
Is they gave a file of inputs means we can go BDC or LSMW..If before transferring we want to make only little changes means we can do this by LSMW  otherwise we can go for BDC...

  • VBU-FKSAA field not updated when the item category is changed

    Hi,
The sales order is created with the item category ZZZZ which is not relevant for billing. So the VBUP-FKSAA value is blank which means not relevant for billing.
Now in the change mode, the item catg is changed to XXXX. this is relevant for billing. But even after changing the item catg the billing status is not changed. so the sales order can not be billed.
Please let me know if anyone has come across this problem and also the soution.

Thank You Vincent. It works for finish goods that currently have cost in the sap-bo (taking std or avg) . Do you what should I do when the item is receiving the first-transation and it is an inventory entry coming from DTW ? Because when I test this conditions, the field "price" is ignored and when I check the inventory entry sent using dtw the recorded cost is "cero".
    Thank a lot

    My question is :
Is there a way to edit/change the Item category field without deleting the item?
Whethere is it possible to do it in bulk update for group of items in SA?
If it is possible, pls provide how to do it with steps.
    Kindly advice.
    Thanks. in advance!

Please try using MASS tcode with object BUS2013
    or MEMASSSA
Its a direct table update where you can select the Table Item and Field Item category and input the document number to change the value os item category and try with one sample data then do it in mass.
Before cahngin the item categry Please make sure all the dependancies are met then nly the system will allow you to save.

  • Item category determination for Free Goods

    Hi
I have configured inclusive Free Goods and have a second line correctly determined when I create a quotation or a sales order for a particular product.
However, I keep getting the error "Item 20: No item category could be determined".
I have created an entry in item category determination with TAN as my main item category and TANN as the item category for the free goods.
    Any ideas?
    regards
    Tim

I forgot to specify that the usage was for Free Goods in the item category determination.
    It now works.

  • How to make plant default on the line item along with the item category

    Hi All,
I want to default Plant on the line item along with the item category. In order to meet the following scnario.
    1. I have two plants, first plant is maintained for the valuated item and the second plant is maintained for the non valuated item (Free Goods).
Whenever user is entering an item in the sales order for which corresponding free goods item is maintained in the master record.System is proposing two lines items in the sales order.
First line item is the main item which appears along with the Plant 1 which contains valuated items
Second line item is for the Free of charge item which is being proposed from Plant 2, which contains the non valuated items.
I want that the system should always propose Plant 1 with main item and Plant 2 with the Free of Charge item by default. (Along with the item category TAN and TANN)
    Rahul

Delivering Plant is determined in the following order
    1. Customer material info record.
    2. Customer master
    3. Material master.
Use one of them an default your plant.
I think in your case you can use the materila master which will give an item level plant different. The other two will default the plant at the header level.

  • Return Sales order - update of Item category change

    Hi
We are creating the Return Sales order with respective original sales order.
After copying the line item details in to return sales order, we are not able to change item category to another.  Since item category is in display mode(grayed out).
    We tried with
1.Transaction varant, it is not helpful.
2.Maintained the item category which is required in item category determination(Manual entries)
Though we are able to change the item catgory in the sales order through some user exit, price condition are in active status. we are doing price update, but still condition types are still in-active.
Please help, how to change the item cateogry and to redetermine the price based on the item category in sales order.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Rajesh.

Then how do you settle it with the customer? He has still paid for the original materials and has returned some or all of them. He is still going to be invoiced for the full quantity. There should be some way to either replace the materials or give him a credit memo
but coming to Gunda's query, the only way I see to map this is to create a different order type ZRE which is a copy of RE and item category ZREN which is a copy of REN. In ZREN, turn on Pricing. Maintain copy controls from OR to ZRE and keep the pricing condition type Manual. Then whenever the business decides not to give the customer a refund, go to the item conditions, set the pricing condition value to 0 and save the order

  • The workflow could not update the item, possibly because one or more columns for the item require a different type of information. Outcome: Unknown Error

Received this error (The workflow could not update the item, possibly because one or more columns for the item require a different type of information.) recently on a workflow that was
working fine and no changes were made to the workflow.
I have tried a few suggestions, i.e. adding a pause before any ‘Update’ action (which didn’t help because the workflow past this action without incident); checked the data type being written
to the fields (the correct data types are being written); and we even checked the list schema to ensure the list names and the internal names are aligned (they
are), but we still cannot figure out why the workflow is still throwing this error.
We located the area within the workflow step where it is failing and we inserted a logging action to determine if the workflow would execute the logging action but it did not, but wrote the same error message.
The workflow is a Reusable Approval workflow designed in SharePoint Designer 2010 and attached to a content type.
The form associated with the list was modified in InfoPath 2010.
Approvers would provide their approval in the InfoPath form which is then read by the workflow.
Side note - items created after the workflow throws this Unknown Error some seem to be working fine.
We have deleted the item in question and re-added it with no effect.
Based on what we were able to determine there don’t seem to be any consistency with how this issue is behaving.
Any suggestions on how to further investigate this issue in order to find the root cause would be greatly appreciated?
    Cheers

    Hi,
I understand that the reusable workflow doesn’t work properly now. Have you tried to remove the Update list item action to see whether the workflow can run without issue?
If the workflow runs perfectly when the Update list item action is removed, then you need to check whether there are errors in the update action. Check whether the values have been changed.

  • The workflow could not update the item, possibly because one or more columns for the item require a different type of information using Update Item action

I got error  "The workflow could not update the item, possibly because one or more columns for the item require a different type of information "I  found out the cause is  Update Item action
I need to update item in another List call Customer Report ,the field call "Issues"  with data type  "Choice"   to yes
then the error arise .   please help..

Thanks for the quick response Nikhil.
Our SPF 2010 server is relatively small to many setups I am sure. The list with the issue only has 4456 items and there are a few associated lists, eg lookups, Tasks, etc see below for count.
    Site Lists
Engagements = 4456 (Errors on this list, primary list for activity)
Tasks = 7711  (All workflow tasks from all site lists)
Clients = 4396  (Lookup from Engagements, Tslips, etc)
Workflow History = 584930 (I periodically run a cleanup on this and try to keep it under 400k)
Tslips = 3522 (Engagements list can create items here, but overall not much interaction between lists)
A few other lists that are used by workflows to lookup associations that are fairly static and under 50 items, eg "Parters Admin" used to lookup a partners executive admin to assign a task.

  • Deriving/ change the item category from handling unit

    Hi SAP GURUS,
In vl01n I want to derive the item category based on the handling unit. Hnadling unit is derived from the payment terms.
Please let me know the required configuration or the development for this.

i need ur help regarding the Sales order item category redetermination.
we are having two item categories YNAE and YNAG and it contain schedule  line categories CP and CB ( i.e for item category  YNAE schedule line category is CP and
for item category  YNAG schedule line category is CB), for YNAG Purchase Requisition is automatically created becz of functional setting on save and it is working fine.
For every line item in sales order line item level item category YNAE will be determined by default as per functional settings.
Now my requirement is that, if sales order line item doesn't contain 100% confirmed quantity, than i needs to change the default line item category YNAE to YNAG
which i am trying to do it in USEREXIT_PRICING_PREPARE_TKOMP becz in this exit i am getting the values in XVBAP and XVBEP and  it is working fine .
But schedule line category is not getting redetermined automatically what i mean is, if i change the item category to YNAG from YNAE in user exit corresponding schedule line category CB of YNAG is getting determined automatically at the schedule line level and if ichange the schedule line categories in XVBEP in exit USEREXIT_PRICING_PREPARE_TKOMP, changes are reflecting at the schedule line level but Purchase requisation is not getting created for schedule on SAVE and its delivary dates are also not getting determined properly. If press the option ATP check at the schedule line level than very things will getting corrected in the order.
i am using UPDKZ = U  in both xvbap and xvbep for changes
I feel that i am not doing this in proper way, do u have any idea about how to redetermine item category. please let me know if u have any idea .

does anybody know the solution? thanks!
    best regards
    Eric

    Hi Eric
You nay have to set the item category determination properly.
Fileds are you chould have an entry which should be something like this
    Trans type -
Item cat group---The item cat that has to appear in your doc.
    for example:
    TA -
    Standard Group-----TAN
The Item category group field is in the one you have given in your material master.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Set as default value the Item Category in the Maintenance Order

    Hello everyone,
We are trying to find a user exit in order to set as default value the item category in the Maintenance Order once the Material has been introduced (Tag Components).
SAP Customizing let the user set the Item Category automatically per Material Type, but we need to set different Item Categories to materials belonging to the same material type.
We would really appreciate any help relating this issue.
    Thank you very much,
    Víctor Liedo

    Dear Paul,
Thank you very much for your response.
I had already tried customizing mentioned by Pithan, but it did not work because we need to set different Item Categories for Materials with same Material Type.
We have been searching for exits which may let us set Item Category in the Maintenance Order, but it does not seem to be possible.
What you say about adding some custom validation through user exit, not to set item category as default value, but to check if the one entered is valid, sounds the best way of achieving our commitments.
I have tried to look for CNEX0037 & CNEX0038, by using transactions SE37 and SE38, search for programs and functions modules, but it did not work. Could you please tell us what kind of objects are?
Thank you very much in advance.
