Upgrade of SOA 2 nodes 10.1.3.3 and patch failure
During upgrade of SOA 10.1.3.3 two node clusters, the first node is made successfully, however, when continue on 2nd node, during the configuration assistant stage, it hangs at BPEL CA : [java] 09/09/23 09:57:37 Notification ==>Binding web application(s) to site default-web-site begins...
And no further progress.
When log into the deploy_bpel.log at the SOA_HOME/install, the following following should be the one executing without response:
Calling redeploy command D:\oracle\product\10.1.3.1\soa\ant\bin\ant -lib D:\oracle\product\10.1.3.1\soa\ant/lib -f D:/oracle/product/10.1.3.1/soa/bpel/system/services/install/ant-tasks/redeploy.xml -Doc4jAdminPassword=<password> -Dinstall.oc4jAdminPassword=<password> -Dinstall.http.host=risdev08 -Dinstall.hostname=risdev08 -Dinstall.admin.port=6005 -Dinstall.opmn.requestport=6005 -Dinstall.oc4j.adminID=oc4jadmin -Dinstall.oc4j.instance=oc4j_soa -Dinstall.oc4j.primary=false

I am upgrading to Calendar Server 4.0 on NT with more than 9 nodes
(or I already have) and my server won't start.
<P>
The steps are the same whether you have already upgraded or are about to.
<P>
Calendar Server 4.0 on the Windows NT platform can only support up to nine
nodes on one server, while 3.51 supported up to 14. If you have a Calendar
Server 3.51 with more than 9 nodes that you want to upgrade to Calendar Server
4.0, Netscape recommends that you migrate the extra nodes to another Calendar
Server 3.51 on another Windows NT system. To accomplish this:
<OL>
<LI>Install Calendar Server on another Windows NT machine and configure it to
use the same directory server as your current Calendar Server.
<LI>Stop and backup your current Calendar Server.
<LI>Individually zip up the node directories you want to move to the new
server. (drive:\unsers\unison\db\Nx
where "x" is the number of the node you want to use.)
<LI>Stop the new Calendar Server.
<LI>Unzip the files into the new Calendar Server in the same place as they
were on the old server.
<LI>Edit the unison.ini
file on the new server to add the nodes you have just migrated.
<LI>Edit the unison.ini
file on the old server to remove the nodes you have moved to the new server.
<LI>Edit the nodes.ini
file on the old server to remove the nodes you just moved and then add them
with the new hostname. Keep in mind that you will only be able to modify the
node network from the old host.
<LI>Run unidbfix -export
on both servers for all nodes.
<LI>Edit the remotenodes.ini
file on both servers to reflect your node topology.
<LI>Run unidbfix -import
to import the changes into the node databases.
<LI>Run unidbfix -c,
then -f,
then -c
again on both servers for all the nodes.
<LI>If you don't get any errors, run uninode -test all
to test if your nodes connections are set properly. If they are not, <B>do not</B>
start either of the servers; instead, fix the errors and try again.
<LI>Start both servers.
<LI>Log in and check to see if you can see people on remote nodes.
<LI>Notify the users on the moved nodes of their new calendar host.
<LI>If you did this in preparation of an upgrade, you can now run the upgrade to
4.0 since both servers contain fewer than 9 nodes.
</OL>Use Disk Utility whihc is in the Utilities Folder.
Select your Boot Disk on the left.
Select Verify Permissions
If any errors the do Reapir permissions.
You might have to repeat the process.

Error while upgrading Oracle SOA 10.1.3.3 to 10.1.3.5
Hi,
Iam trying to upgrade Oracle SOA ver.10.1.3.3 to 10.1.3.5 on a windows server. The following steps were followed.
1. SOA was stopped. Back up of the SOA folder was taken.
2. SOA uses the default Olite database. Connected to the BPEL schema and run the upgrade_10133_10135_olite.sql script.
It errored out in the upgrade process of 10.1.3.3 to 10.1.3.4.
The esb schema upgrade script executed without error. Have any one faced similar issue? or aware of the reason? Please help me out. Thanks in advance.

Internal Error:AllocStatement: Request Communication FailedHi,
IF ORACLE DATABASE HAS ALREADY HAS ORABPEL AND ORAESB USERS, I don't know password.:
My remarks. If you upgrade a SOA suite to a higher version, you always need to known the passwords of the Oracle dehydration store (orabpel/orawsm/oraesb). If you do not know that, call your DBA. Otherwise try: the same password as the user name or try 'welcome1'. You could also force to change the password via the system user; alter user <user> identified by <password>;
IS IT A GOOD IDEA TO UPGRADE Oracle SOA 10.1.3.1.0 to Oracle SOA 10.1.3.4.0?
Yes! 10.1.3.4 is the succeeder of 10.1.3.3, in the beginning of next year 10.1.3.5 (with WLS 10.3) will come out. Note if you use 10.1.3.4 download also the latest patchset from metalink.

After upgrading from SOA 10.1.3.1 to 10.1.4.1 , I cant run any Struts 1 pages from my web application.
I used to have "commons-logging-1.0.4.jar" under j2ee\<INSTANCE_NAME>\applib, and it worked fine before the upgrade, but after I upgraded I get this exception in the application log

I tried moving this jar inside my war module, but problem still occures.
However, if I removed the jar "commons-loging.jar" from "OracleAS_1\webservices\lib", everything works fine!
Any ideas how to solve this problem??It is an old post, but I want to add and ask something anyway:
I had the same problem and solved it through similar steps (didn't get the same errors and added the log4j to my project also) but don't you have the navigation problem?
Now that I have deployed the application the first page that appears after launching the application is my Home.jspx which is not the same page that comes up when I use embedded OC4J to run the application. The Home.jspx is blank and when I enter a link manually:
http://farbod:8888/TestApp/faces/pages/Employees.jspx
instead of http://farbod:8888/TestApp/faces/pages/Home.jspx
I get this error:
500 Internal Server Error
Servlet error: An exception occurred. The current application deployment descriptors do not allow for including it in this response. Please consult the application log for details.
I also tried changing the initial address throughout the application:
<% response.sendRedirect("faces/pages/Home.jspx"); %>
but I still get the above error.
Thanks,

Hi All,
While upgrading the IAU schema from 11.1.1.3.0 to IAU schema 11.1.1.4.0 it is giving me the error "upgrade unsuccessful". I saw the log files and there it is giving 'FileNotFoundException: /oracle/Middleware/oracle_common/common/sql/iau/upgrade/STS.sql'
My other two schemas that is <prefix_MDS> and <prefix_SOAINFRA> have been successfully updated
Regards,
SouravWhy do you need IAU schema for SOA? What components are you having in your SOA domain?

Exception while upgrading the SOA Suite with PatchSet 2
Currently I have a working version of the 11.1.1.2.0 soa suite installed on my machine. I am trying to upgrade it with the PatchSet 2. I was successfully able to upgrade by Weblogic Server to 10.3.3 and also my Middleware Home with 11.1.1.3.0 version. But when I am trying to upgrade by schema to PatchSet 2 version then I am getting following error:
Exception in thread "Main Thread" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/ias/upgrade/PatchDriver
Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: oracle.ias.upgrade.PatchDriver

at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:248)
Could not find the main class: oracle.ias.upgrade.PatchDriver. Program will exit.
Does anybody has any idea why this is coming? I have download all the installables last week from the metalink site.Issue was related to Windows Vista operating system. Even though you are administrator of the machine you need to explicitly run the applications as Administrator.
So here you need to start the psu utility as "Run as administrator". -
RE:Database Upgradation in multi node .
Hi,
Our database is on 2 node and our Applications(Concurrent and Report Server) also on both node.
PCP is configured and Load balancer is also configured.
Kindly let us know how to proceed database up gradation.
Regards .Please post the details of the application release, database version and OS.
Our database is on 2 node and our Applications(Concurrent and Report Server) also on both node.

Kindly let us know how to proceed database up gradation.Upgrade from what database version to what version?
The upgrade process should be similar to a single node upgrade.

Will this configuration work: multiple soa nodes, but unclustered ??
We are currently on 11.1.1.4 version and 2 nodes cluster. We are running into cluster related racing issues within the BPEL product and the patches Oracle gave us do not work. One idea we are thinking is to take out the cluster but leave the two soa nodes there as two stand-alone weblogic managed servers.
What is your thoughts on this? Will this work?Hi
1. Having 2 Nodes (soa_servers) without any CLUSTER is of no use and infact this may corrupt your entire ENV itself. So don't try this approach. It may work, but if you made any changes to any node, they are not replicated across and there will be a big chaos within server files.
2. To begin with, what issues/problems are you facing having 2 nodes in a soa cluster. Most of us in Prod and even in testing env will have soa_cluster with atleast 2 soa_servers spread across totally 2 different machines. It all works fine from Load Balancing, Fail over, Replication point of view.
3. Ideally, a soa cluster will have like 2 nodes (2 managed servers - soa_server1, soa_server2 spread across 2 diff remote machines). They are fronted by a Load Balancer. Means in front of them there will be a hardware or software Load Balancer. All user requests go to this Load Balancer which inturn connects the request to one of the 2 backend soa servers. If any of servers is down, user is not even aware of this. This is the ideal behavior. Load Balancer can be software balancer like apache http webserver or hardware load balancer like F5. Session, Data replication is all taken care of.
4. If you do NOT put, 2 soa nodes in cluster, what URL will you expose to end user? They had to directly access your managed server url. This is not something we want in a cluster Env.
I would recommend to address and fix Cluster issues. If you are not able to, then expose only one Single node and let users access that node only
Putting 2 nodes outside of cluster, you had to expose 2 urls to end users. This may work, but not recommended.
Thanks

SOA 10.1.3.5 - cloning and pointing to a new database
We plan to move a web application to a new server and here is the information:
The front-end is SOA suite 10.1.3.5; application was built with Jdeveloper and ADF; BPEL process Manager is not used; Enterprise Service Bus is not used.
the backend is a Oracle database.
Old server: Windows server 2003, currently hosting SOA and the database;
New server: Windows server 2008.
We need to move both front-end and back-end to the new server. I know how to move the database.
I would like to know if either of the following is possible:
1. Clone SOA suite to the new server, and let it point to the new database on the server;
2. Install SOA 10.1.3.1 on the new server, and upgrade it to 10.1.3.5. Then move the deployed instance from the old server to the new one, and point it to the new database.
I have read chapter 9 of SOA administrator guide, but not sure if the cloned instance can point to the new database. Please help. Thank you!

Maybe this Metalink note would be helpful for you 757381.1 -
The problem is on my desktop and my laptop. I got a bit click happy on my desktop computer and hit the Web Developer button. I was trying to delete a really annoying flash ad on the side of the screen. I think I got into page source and deleted the node. I'm truly not sure what happened, but pictures stopped loading for ebay and everything is a worded list down the side of the page. I have deleted cache and cookies. I have reset mozilla. I have uninstalled and reinstalled mozilla. Laptop was not immediately affected, but now having the same problem.
This is a very strange issue.<br>
No changes made with the web developer tool will save and should be cleared when the page is reloaded.
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
* [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
* [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Did this fix your problems? Please report back soon. -
Upgrade 10.4.11 to 10.5, admin and root login are toast
I wasn't sure if I should post this under Installation and Setup or Account and Login, as it involves both.
Short version: After upgrading my G5 tower from 10.4.11 to 10.5, all logging into admin or root accounts stops working, except for logging in automatically as admin on bootup.
Long, overly wordy version:
So, I have a MacBook Pro 15" 2.4GHz and a G5 2x2.0GHz tower, both running 10.4.11. I cloned my MBP drive, and did the upgrade to 10.5 in the normal fashion, and everything worked fine. After the install, I updated to 10.5.2 and the other recent stuff in Software Update, and everything is ok there.
Next, my G5. I cloned my boot drive to an external for safety with CCC 3.0.1. I try the same update from 10.4.11 to 10.5 (PPC instead of Intel obviously, but it's the same install DVD) and it SEEMS to go ok. After the reboot I was up and running with 10.5, logged in as the admin user. I only have 1 user on the G5, the admin user, and it's set to automatically log in. So, it wasn't until I tried to update from 10.5 to 10.5.2 that I discovered that I could not give admin access to the process, or any process. It gives no error message, but acts the same as it would with an incorrect password. I tried logging out, and logging into the same user account again, and it fails. It also seems to think about for quite a while before it rejects the attempt by doing that little horizontal shake thing. Also, normally it would just list my admin user for me to click on, but instead I have the field to type it in myself, like it's totally lost track of the user(s). However, if I do a full reboot, it seems to log in fine via the automatic login function. Oh, and the exact same stuff happens if I try to log in as root, no go. Things like Repair Permissions and disk repairing (via booting to the 10.5 DVD and using disk utility OR booting to and using my TechToolPro 4.6.1 DVD) do nothing, and no problems are found.
Of course, I tried booting from the 10.5 DVD and resetting the password, and it DOES list the proper admin user's name while doing that. However, it doesn't help, logging in or doing anything requiring admin rights is still impossible, except for logging in via automatic login.
I reeeeeally don't want to do an archive install, as reinstalling all my apps would be an absolute nightmare. (This is an audio recording station, Logic Pro, Final Cut, Reason, PeakPro, etc.)
Any ideas? I restored the drive back to 10.4.11 from my backup after wiping it and reformatting (new partition and everything, everything except zero the drive), and did the whole process over again with the exact same results. Restored again, and that's where I am now. I guess I'll have to stick with 10.4.11 for a while longer until I figure this out.
- JonYoHello Jon:
It is difficult to determine (read I do not have a clue) what happened. However, an archive and install does not require reinstalling all of your software:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
A&I retains your programs, files, and settings. I used A&I to upgrade one of my iMacs to OS X 10.5 (I also used the upgrade feature on the other one). A&I also creates a rather large folder called +"previous system"+ that may be deleted after things are running well (it is a sort of safety net that contains all of the programs, data, etc from the prior installation).

After upgrading to Lion, I went to open Mail and received the message that it needed to upgrade my Mail database - this may take a few minutes. The bar shows it is about 1/5 along and has been there for over 10 hours.
I tried quitting and starting again but it just jumps back to the same spot.It is quite large, but I have tried two of the fixes suggested and things now seem to be moving along.
(I was unable to seach properly before which is why I posted the question - it was a bit of a panic) -
I recently upgraded to iphoto 11 v. 9.2 and now iphoto crashes every time I try to upload photos. I have tried to upload from my camera via usb, from my iphone, and from the memory card directly and it crashes every time. What can I do to fix this problem?
It was the folder that I trashed.
Here is the crash log from a few hours ago:

I just got iphone 5c and i am not happy with it. It uses to much data and i don't even know how. I can't get the ringtones i want for my contacts.I got it on my free upgrade but i want to take it back and get something else but where i got it they say i can't because i don't have the earbuds and i have serches or them. now i am suck with a phone i don't like at all until my next upgrade. this is very dishearten
1. If you are this unhappy with that phone, and the lost earbuds is the only thing stopping you from taking it back, why do not just buy some earbuds. That way you can get rid of that phone. It all depend upon how much you want to get rid of that phone.
2. Yet if you are stuck with that iPhone, here is something might help you to control the data usage. By design, iPhones do turn off WiFi when they go dormant. So if a download is in progress and so forth when the phone goes dormant, it will switch to use cellular data, if this setting is left on. Therefore, from multi-sources I have learned that if you keep your iPhone connected to a power source, then it will stay connected to the available WiFi. -
