Upgrading from RedHat 3 to 4 with Oracle 9.2.0.8

I am currently running Oracle 9.2.0.8 on RedHat 3. We need to upgrade to RedHat 4 for other application library issues. Is there anything I need to do to our database to prepare for this change or to check and make sure we won't have any issues after the OS upgrade?
Thanks!

You need to relink Oracle.
IIRC correctly, in 9.2.0.8 there is relink shell script.

  • Install Solution Manager in RedHat Enterprise 6 with Oracle 11

    Hello ,
In the marketplace-PAM,  RedHat Enterprise 6 is not listed as approved for EHP1 Solution Manager 7.0 64 bit (unicode) with Oracle.
Does anyone have any information on this subject?
Has anyone installed the Solution Manager 7.0/Oracle with RedHat Enterprise 6?
    tks

Yes, you are correct. Apart from PAM, following Note confirms this. RHEL 6 is not supported yet for Oracle, is in planning stage.

  • Live Upgrade from 8 to 10 keeping Oracle install

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to figure out how to do a Live Upgrade from Solaris 8 (SPARC) to 10 and still keep my Oracle available after the reboot.
Since all of the Oracle datafiles are on /un or /opt/oracle I figure I can just create a new BE for /, /etc and /var. From there I'd just need to edit /etc/vfstab, /etc/init.d/ (for db startups), copy over /var/opt/oracle/, mount /opt/oracle.
Does that sound right? Has anyone done this?
On a side note, I'm still trying to figure out Live Update. My system is configed with RAID 1 under Solstice (metatool). I'm concerened about being able to access the MetaDB once the BE switch goes through. Should I set up a new mirror for the new BE prior to running LU? Or should I configure the mirror for the new BE once the switchover has gone through?

  • Upgrading from XP to Vista with no recovery drive.

    Hello,
I plan to upgrade from XP to Vista. I have the whole 160 GB disk allocated to XP as a C drive. I have no problems in formatting it while changing to Vista.
The problem is that Lenovo gave no Vista DVD when I bought the laptop. Everything was given in the recovery partition which I formatted when I downgraded to XP. So how should I change back to Vista ?
Also I was browsing through the Lenovo Drivers website becoz I need Vista drivers once I install Vista onto the laptop. There are different versions of drivers available for my laptop's type-model, so how should I know that which one works best or which one was given in the factory installation from lenovo?

The simplest answer is to purchase the recovery cd if you were shipped with vista. The tech center can help with your purchase but they can order only what was originally shipped on the laptop. The cost is $45.00 plus s&h and local taxes.

  • R12.1 upgrade from 11.5.10CU2 with 11g

    Hi hsawwan,
I have some doubts about R12.1 upgrade process.
    1. If i have 11.5.10.2 with 9.2.0.8 as database then can i upgrade to R12.1 using RapidWiz and during database upgrade screen, directly upgrade from 9.2.0.8 to 11.1.0.6 or 11.1.0.7 database?
    2. If i have 11.5.10.2 with 11.1.0.7 as database then can i upgrade to R12.1 using RapidWiz or i have to do patchinf for it. Means to say that can i use RapidWiz for R12.1 upgrade from 11.5.10.2 with 11.1.0.7?
    3. What will be the best practice to reduce downtimwe for R12.1 upgrade ?
    Regards,
    Manas Prakash Gupta

    Hi hsawwan,
As pre-upgrade patching for 11.5.10.2 to R12.1 upgrade, i applied a patch 4582937 which is for PRE CONVERGENCE MIGRATION PATCH. There are some steps which are need to be performed after applying this patch. Below are the steps.
    1) Perform the data mapping for org and warehouse migration through the UI available in OPM System Administration.
    2) Run $GMA_TOP/patch/115/sql/GMAORGMG.sql as APPS user.
    3) Review any errors generated in the Org Migration for the context "ORGANIZATION" and rerun GMAORGMG.sql after fixing the errors.
    4) Run $GMA_TOP/patch/115/sql/GMAITSTP.sql as APPS user.
    5) Review any errors generated in the Org Migration for the context "PRE_ITEM_MIG_SETUP" and rerun GMAITSTP.sql after fixing the errors.
    6) Run $GMI_TOP/patch/115/sql/gmiitmin.sql as APPS user 7) Review any errors generated in the Org Migration for the context "ITEMS" and rerun gmiitmin.sql after fixing the errors.
I am not able to understand the first point (Perform the data mapping for org and warehouse migration through the UI available in OPM System Administration).
I logged into application and under OPM System Administration i didn't find anything related to mapping. Can you just tell me how to perform these steps (Specially the first one because in others we need to run scripts only).
    Thanx,

  • Tip for upgrading from MBP to iMac with Leopard & Parallels Boot Camp

Here are some pointers based on my recent experience upgrading from a MacBook Pro to an iMac, under Leopard and with Parallels using a Boot Camp partition for Windows.
First, you do not need to create a Windows partition on your new computer. You will use Boot Camp Assistant to do that - it can dynamically resize your existing Mac OS X partition without destroying it. (I initially used Disk Utility to create a Windows partition but it wasn't recognised properly by Parallels and also the Mac wouldn't boot from it).
A great way to simplify getting your old installation across is to make a Time Machine backup onto an external drive. Yes, you could also use start up your old Mac in Target mode (hold down T key when you start it), then start the new Mac and copy your settings over. But in my case, the new iMac (a refurb) came with Tiger installed on it while my old Mac had already been upgraded to Leopard.
I started the new Mac using a Leopard install CD (holding down the C key while starting). Then I chose to restore from a Time Machine backup instead of installing from CD, and soon had a functioning Leopard installation on the new Mac. Well, almost.
Next I used Boot Camp Assistant to create a Windows partition on the new drive. The old Mac's partition was only 10 GB in size, but I made the new one 31.9 GB in size (so I could stay under the Windows limit of 32 GB for FAT partitions). I then quit without installing Windows.
On the old Mac, I used an external drive formatted as FAT and used Disk Utility to 'restore' my Windows partition to the external drive. Next I plugged that drive into the new Mac, and restored the external Windows partition to the new Mac's Windows partition. So far, so good. However, Parallels would not start this installation of Windows, and the new Mac would not boot into it (holding down the Option key at start-up did not show me a Windows drive).
I tried doing a repair of the Windows installation using a Windows install disk but that did not work. What did work was the following: I booted from the Window install CD, then started a new installation. I asked Windows to format the Windows partition on the new Mac, then powered off the new Mac as soon as Windows started copying files. Next, I rebooted the new Mac into Mac OS X, started Disk Utility, and again did a restore of the Windows partition on the external drive to the Windows partition on the new Mac.
The final step was to reboot the new Mac into Windows directly so that I could load drivers from the Leopard install CD. [I haven't done that yet, so I'm not sure it's necessary].
    Hope this helps!

Sounds solid to me. If the Glyph was connected on a firewire port that is. This would free up the bandwith that way but actually it is hardly an issue with the Duet considering the limited inputs. But using the Glyph as a backup for your projects is good wise idea anyway.

  • Sending email from apex 4.0 with oracle 11g ee

    Hi,
I the past when working with apex 3 I was able to work with apex mailsend very nice.
In apex 4.0 with oracle 11g ee I'm not able to send emails anymore.
Last error message in the queue is:
ORA-29279: SMTP permanent error: 550 through this server without authentication.
the smtp server has not been changed, the code is fine
    How I can go further?
    Many thanks,

    This is a different subject:
Apex Reports and links to external content
What you are asking should be possible.
Risk: everyone who uses the link needs to have the same drive mapping if you are using letters on a Windows PC. As long as that is not a usability issue, you are fine.
I would recommend you review the LINK syntax in the report column.
Your text seems like you have already attempted this.
    >
    . . . . . . . from XYZ
Here I am unable to open this document via click on this column link on report............
Thanks..To confirm the link syntax you want first, Write a simple HTML file with the link to make sure you have the correct quoting and the link content is correct.
What does the REPORT resulting HTML look like when you examine it on the page?
    I would expect something like:
<a href=file:///E:/Echo Destination/1212040003.docx> go to file </a>If the result is different, then we can discuss why it isn't what you are expecting.

  • Can't install XCelsius Engade 2008 (upgrade from Pro 4.5) with Office XP

    Dear Support,
I have purchased XCelsius Engade 2008, upgrade from Pro 4.5.
Our corporate standard is still MS Office XP on Windows XP and it won't be updated in a near future.
I can not install the product since it tells me that Office suit should be "pre-installed" first. And it is actually installed already.
I have tested the trial version before - and it was fine. It is written on the CD box that system requirements includes Office XP but it does not work. Please help ASAP!!!
    And just for the information:
Trial version build no: BuildVersion=12.1.0.247 (seems to work)
Version on CD which I have purchased: BuildVersion=12.0.0.121 (refuses to install)
    Thanks and regards,
    Andrey

    Hi Andrey,
you don't need to uninstall Xcelsius 4.5 - it's a separate product and you can install it back. I have both Xcelsius 4.5 and Xcelsius 2008 on the same machine. I am not sure why it does not recognize the Office on your machine, may be you need to upgrade your Office to a later version, I hope somebody else will have more information. May be this link will be helpful

  • Upgrade from Solaris 8 SPARC with Sun cluster 3.1u3 to Solaris 10 SPARC

    Dear All,
We are planning an upgrade of the OS from Solaris 8 SPARC to Solaris 10 SPARC on a two-node active-standby clustered system.
The current major software we have on the Solaris 8 system are:
    1: Sun Cluster 3.1u3
    2: Oracle 9i 9.2.0.8
3: Veritas File System Vxfs v4.0
    4: Sun Solaris 8 2/04 SPARC
Any pointers as to what sequence and how the upgrade should be done?
    Thanks in advance.

yes I know it can be quite complicated and complex, but Sun provided us with a detailed documentation, at least in our case Solaris 9 to 10 it was very helpful.

  • Upgrading from WLS 8.1 to Oracle WLS 10.3

    Hi,
I'm planning to upgrade a client's system consisting of multiple applications running on WLS 8.1 to Oracle WLS 10.3.
Is this an officially supported upgrade path? What would be the best way to do the upgrade?
Are there any tools for automatically importing or converting the old configuration or domains?
Or is it better to create new installations from scratch and manually configure them?
Is there any documentation for this upgrade path?
In practice we would need to run both application servers in parallel for a while.
Can I expect the different server versions to interoperate with each other?
The applications mostly communicate using EJB (v2.0) calls but JMS and Web Services are used as well.
I've tested the EJB calls and they seem to work but what about JMS?

    Thanks.
Can WLS JMS v8.1 be used as a messaging provider for WLS v10.3 and 8.1 instances
(using it directly or through the Messaging Bridge)?
Is this described in the documentation somewhere?
I also found the following documents that address version compatibility:

  • Upgrade from Forms 3.0 to Oracle Forms 9i

    Hi,
I have a requirement to upgrade Forms 3.0 to Oracle Forms 9i. Please suggest the best approach for the migration. It would of great help if you could provide some details on the following:
    1. Approach for migration (Whether to convert from 3.0 to 6i first and then from 6i to 9i (or) direct conversion )
    2. Common problems that may be encountered during the migration
    3. Performance of the migrated application against the original one.
    4. Effort that may be involved to convert an application containing around 300 forms.
Thanks in advance for your help!!!
    Regards
    Sankar

    Sankar,
A lot depends on the triggers in the form. If they are Version 2-style triggers, you are basically going to have to reinvent the logic using 9i triggers. I don't think 9i supports Version 2-style triggers at all. (I think 6.0 did and 6i might, but it was deprecated - and removed in 9i as I recall).
This will be a fairly significant effort. I don't know if you're familiar with these early versions of Forms at all, but in Version 2 there was no such thing as PL/SQL so the triggers consisted of a series of steps on each event, and a macro-style language. Each step had a "True" branch and a "False" branch to handle flow when you tested conditions, and so on. So if you want to try to recover the code and create it in PL/SQL triggers, you'll need to have someone who can read it, or try to find the old doc and study up on it.
In addition, later versions of Forms have added many triggering events - including all of the "When-" triggers. Much of the code that occured in a Post-Change trigger in v2 and v3 should now be done in a When-Validate-Item trigger, for example.
So the trigger migration may be your biggest headache. You don't say whether the 9i forms will be run on the web, etc. But to me, laying out the fields on a canvas is the easy part - that you can easily do in a new form rather than trying to migrate. It's the trigger code you need to migrate, and that may be tough if they used V2-style triggers in the 3.0 Forms.
    Hope this helps.
