Upgrading iPhoto/iMovie 06

Can I upgrade from iPhoto/iMovie 06 to iPhoto/Imovie 11 without the version between them?

Yes but purchasing iMovie 11 and iPhoto 9 from the App Store.
HOWEVER, iMoviea 6 HD is considered to be far superior to the later versions for creating movies with multiple audio tracks and getting them into iDVD.
If you serach the iDVD forum you'll see iMovie 6 HD recommended over and over again as the better app for movies to iDVD.
If you do purchase iMovie 11 be sure to keep iMovie 6 HD safe and sound so you can use it if you find V10 not to your liking. Move it into a folder before installing iMovie 11

  • Iphoto, imovie, iweb missing after mountain lion upgrade...

I have a mid 2010 iMac that I have kept up to date and recently upgraded to Mountian Lion.  Everything has been fine except that I noticed that iLife was missing right after the update...  And I didn't purchase it in the app store because it came with my iMac.  In fact, the iMac came with Snow Leopard on it I think. But I haven't the slightest idea where that disk is because we lost a few things that I haven't located yet in our move last year.  I have another copy of Snow Leopard that I goes to my 2009 MacBook that I already had.  It seems quite frustrating that the programs just disappeared and they've never done that before on any other upgrade!  I have no need to purchase and upgrade to iLife 11 as I only use iPhoto and iMovie for iPhone photos/video because I have everything else in LightRoom already.  But I would like iPhoto/iMovie back!  How do I go about doing this?  Can i use my backup to get it back somehow?  Just confused on how to tget it back and my searches yielded very little...  Thanks!

sorry...  i meant '09 version...  I just knew it wasn't '11 (assumed '09) because I haven't upgraded to the '11 versions.  I said iLife because I lost all 3-iphoto, iweb and imovie.  Well, I see that iweb isn't a part of '11 and is going away and i am just now seeing that.  And noticing that I lost GarageBand in addition (i just don't use it to notice it was also missing after the upgrade).
And again, they all came installed on my computer, not from me purchasing it via app store.  Technically I guess it wasn't a part of the OS, I just meant that it came with the imac and was part of my imac purchase.  I only remember having an install disk (not a seperate ilife disk) that came with my imac but i am unable to find any of it because of a move (and haven't located the disks that came with the 2010 iMac).  Again, I have the snow leopard os upgrade disk that I purchased (prior to buying my imac in 2010) that I bought to upgrade my 2009 MacBook Pro.  But again, it isn't the SL install disk that came with the 2010 iMac (which is the computer we are discussing here)  However, my 2009 MacBookPro was upgraded to ML right after I upgraded the iMac on the same exact dayand I DID NOT lose iphoto, iweb, imovie and garageband on that MacBook Pro.  And it was the 09' also because I had not upgraded either computer to '11 version.  So, the programs went missing on the imac upgrade only, and not the macbook-so there has to be a reason why...  I did not mean that iLife came with an OS Upgrade -only that it came with all purchased apple computers. sorry!
Sberman-I will try to load the iphoto link that you gave above and see if it restores the iphoto and my catalog, etc. Someone I know suggested that it's all still there - but i am just missing the iphoto programs (and other programs) for some reason and all should be restored once it's reloaded.

  • When installing iLife, can I only upgrade iPHoto and not iMovie or iDVD?

When I install iLife, Is it possible to only upgrade iPhoto and not iMovie and iDVD? I've heard the new versions of iMovie and iDVD are not as robust. If I do this, does iPhoto '08 still integrate with the last version of iDVD?

If you do a custom install you can select what gets installed
I believe that You also can move the old versions so the new versions get installed and you still have the old versions - I understand that Old Toad has numerous versions of iLife programs on his system - search the iPhoto forum for his posts to see what he has to say about that
And you can download iMovie 6 from the Apple download site - a free install for iLife '08 owners
So you can have the old and the new

  • Actually, I upgraded to mac Osx I had iphoto, imovie, the whole work; However. After downloading Osx 10.5.8 it all went away and states that it's not compatible anymore.

Actually, I upgraded to mac Osx I had iphoto, imovie, the whole work; However. After downloading Osx 10.5.8 Only I photo would word, imovie would not work, my camera was not recognized. itunes was ok, After my system start having a problem I tried to re-download Mac Osx again, then I lost Imovie, iphoto, and itunes, recently I was able to get itunes back by downloading quicktime 7.7, in which i discovered through the support communities. Now I would like to
get imove, i photo if at all possible. I've read that by installing a hex something, that it works fine. But it seems to be complicated to install. Can I get some advise on this issue foe  iBook G4 10.5.8? Let me know Apples are expensive. maybe it's time for a windows system. I've also heard that the refurbished mac are a piece of trash from some reviews.

You can't upgrade from Mac OS X 10.4 to Mac OS X 10.5 via a download. You would have to buy the DVD and upgrade that way.
Any applications that were using Classic emulation (OS 9 applications) in Mac OS X 10.4 would be lost in an upgrade to Mac OS X 10.5.
I've also heard that the refurbished mac are a piece of trash from some reviews.
That depends on who does the refurbishing. If you buy a refurbished Mac directly from Apple, it will be as good as a new Mac and will even have the one-year warranty that comes with a new Mac. If you buy a "refurbished" Mac from an eBay seller, all bets are off.

  • I upgrade OS-X Mavericks and I lost my iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand and so on, is there a way to get it installed?

    I have a pre-installed  OS-X Mountain Lion Mac book air(2012). I upgrade OS-X Mavericks.
After the upgrade i lost my iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand and so on ....
I checked my purchased from app store. But i can not see anything.
When I want to install from app store, it wants me to pay for them.
By the way I have no any backup for OS-X Mountain Lion.
How can I have these aplication on to OS-X Mavericks without paying?
Also, can I return back to OS-X Mountain Lion and How?

You should be able to install your iLife applications from the App Store. This Apple Knowledge Base article has the directions.
OS X Lion: About Lion Recovery
Restoring iLife applications after Internet Restore of OS X Lion  If you reinstall Lion on a new Mac that shipped with OS X Lion installed, on an erased or replaced hard drive, you can download iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand from the Mac App Store. After installation, start from Lion.
Double-click the App Store icon in the dock.
Enter your Apple ID and password.
    Click Purchases.
If you haven't previously accepted your bundled iLife applications within the Mac App Store, you should see your iLife applications appear in the Accept portion of the screen. Click Accept.
You may be asked for your Apple ID and password once again. Your iLife applications now move to the Purchased section. These applications are part of the software that came with your Lion based computer. Your account will not be charged for them. Click Install to compete installation of your applications.

  • Since upgrading to Yosemite my iPhoto, iMovie and Garage band has simply disappeared from my Mac. HELP!?

Since upgrading to Yosemite my iPhoto, iMovie and Garage band has simply disappeared from my Mac. HELP!?

    Hi Jdireen,
As someone who uses the iLife applications on a daily basis on my Mac I can understand how it would be upsetting to have them disappear suddenly. Let's see if we can get you back up and running.
You can download the applications again and reinstall them from the Mac App Store -
    GarageBand - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/garageband/id682658836?mt=12
    iMovie - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/imovie/id408981434?mt=12
    iPhoto - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/iphoto/id408981381?mt=12
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Upgrade from leopard to snow leopard (10.6.3). Now I haven't Iphoto, Imovie.

I bought the disk, on the Apple Store, to upgrade my macbook from leopard to snow leopard (10.6.3).
Using the 'software update' now I have the version 10.6.8 but I haven't Iphoto, Imovie, etc.(ilife)
With Leopard I had iphoto, imovie, etc.
Could you give me any assistance?
    Thanks in advance
    G.

The "iLife" suite of apps isn't part of Mac OS X.
A normal upgrade install wouldn't have removed any previously installed apps so you must have erased the hard drive before installing Snow Leopard. That would have removed the iLife apps.
You can install them again from your previous iLife DVD.

  • Cant find non the the iphoto, imovie, and the rest of the apps in that category that originally came with my macbook pro

i purchaced my macbook pro a year a go and i had the iphoto, imovie, ilife, iwork. but the other day i mad some upgrades to my macbook, new rams and installed a 2nd SSD hard drive in place of the optical drive. it is used as a boot drive while keeping the HDD for storage. but now i cant find the iphoto, imovie, ilife, iwork. and when i go to the app store in purchased tab i cant find them as well. and when i tried to download them from the featured tab, they are listed for full price?
how can i get my apps back please ??

That would be strange since iv used iphoto. every single time I hooked my iphone to my MBP to download the pic and  that would be couple of time every weekend since i bought the laptop. And iv used Imovie several times to make videos for instagram.
But thank you for your suggestion
FYI: I never had to purchase them I just registered them when I used them for the first time. I know I used to see them all under application file but the Iwork and Ilife never been used before.

  • Iphoto, imovie and iDVD gone after reinstall

I just reinstalled Tiger on my Flatscreen iMac.
Iphoto, iMovie and iDVD are no longer there.
What can I do to get them back?

How old is your Mac and is it used?
If your Mac is fairly old and the 10.2 disk that came with the computer was your original System Restore disk, then Tiger must have been purchased separately and Software Update was used later to upgrade to 10.4.10. But the Tiger upgrade would not have included any iApp's. Buying iLife '05 or iLife '06 would be needed to give you all the iLife App's. If you bought or received your Mac used, then someone did not include the Tiger and iLife software packages with it. If this is the case, the only way to recover your programs is to buy iLife.
If your Mac is fairly new, then your System Restore disks should contain Tiger 10.4.? and include all the iLife '06 App's. Again, if you bought or received your Mac used, then you may be missing the original System Restore disks that came with it. If this is the case, the only way to recover your programs is to buy iLife.
Either way, If you do not have a system backup, then the only way to recover your missing App's is to buy iLife. Also, if you want to risk losing Tiger 10.4, do not attempt to run the installation program from the Jaguar 10.2 disk.

  • Okay I use iPhoto 6 on an older mac and don't want to upgrade past 10.4.11. Can I upgrade iPhoto without the newer operating system? For the life of me I can't get iPhoto to recognize my camera reliably - although it does sometimes. Any advice, help?

The latest version of iPhoto which can operation with OS X 10.4.11 is iPhoto 7 which is part of iLife 08.  You might be able to find a copy of iLIfe 08 on Amazon.com or Ebay.com.
iLife 08's full system requirements are:
Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 processor
iMovie ’08 requires a Mac computer with an Intel processor, a Power Mac G5 (dual 2.0 GHz or faster), or an iMac G5 (1.9 GHz or faster)
iDVD ’08 requires 733MHz or faster processor
512 MB of RAM; 1 GB recommended; high-definition video requires at least 1 GB of RAM
3 GB of available disk space
    DVD drive required for installation

    What does "not valid" mean?
It didn't fix the problem or you couldn't boot into the Recovery HD?
If you just purchased this Mac, Call AppleCare. You should have 90 days of free support. If it is new Mac without any third-party software, then there is something wrong with it. Use the free support you have.

  • Was a pleasant surprise to have iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand updated free

Not a question, more thinking out loud...I got a Macbook Pro at Christmas and when I read that the Mac App Store would be open on 7 January, I thought that my iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand would already be out of date. I was pleasantly surprised that the software update seemed to update these 3 automatically, so I'm now running the '11 versions. I thought I would have to pay for an upgrade if I wanted the newest versions!

Possibly...but I noticed that when the software update was occurring, it was updating one of either iMovie or iPhoto, so I assume all 3 were updated. Anyway it was nice - I'm used to having to pay for every program upgrade!

                                                                                         Gabriel.

Apologies for replying in English (my French is very poor).
If this is a new MBP, the iLife suite should be present. The latest version if the computer came with Mavericks.  If it came with Mountain Lion, then Mavericks is a free upgrade as are the upgrades to the iLife suite.
Have you checked via finder to see if these 3 programmes are present in your Applications folder and just not on the dock? (finder -> applications)?
If there are missing from the Applications folder , open the App Store and see if you can download them for free from there (you will need to set up an account with App Store if you do not have one already).
If you cannot download them for free from the App Store, then you need to speak to Apple via AppleSupport: France métropolitaine  (33) 0805 540 003,  or visit the store where you purchased the computer.

  • Iphoto imovie idvd-how to install

I needed to reformat the drive and installed OS X Tiger from the INSTALL DVD. iphoto, imovie, idvd are gone. The only other discs I have are OS9, Power Mac G4 software install & restore, Apple hardware test. Where could it be?

If your computer came with iLife and did not include a separate iLife installer, the iLife installers are included on one of your install or restore discs. It's not always obvious where they're hiding, though.
This Apple article, Using Restore discs with computers that ship with Mac OS X 10.3.7 or later says (towards the bottom of the page):
On computers that ship with Mac OS X 10.4 or later use these steps to install bundled third-party applications, iLife and Front Row....
Back up your essential files. This is a wise precaution even though you won't be erasing the volume.
Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer.
    Double-click "Install Bundled Software Only."
Follow the onscreen instructions as follows:
    Select the destination.
    Click Continue.
Click Upgrade to install all the applications or click Customize to select which packages to install.
If you click Customize, you'll see a list of applications that you can select to install, or deselect to not install....
That should help, but if it doesn't, post back.

  • IPhoto, iMovie, iMovie HD, iTunes dissappeared

PowerBook just came back from Apple Repair--new drive installed. I upgraded OS 10.4.3 from OS10.3.2 (Apple repair installed the system). Had some issues with Airport, but fixed that. Put music into iTunes and organized it. Shut down the computer overnight. Started up the next day and iPhoto, iMovie, IMovie HD was gone from the Dock with ? in their places. Also lost all the app icons in the dock. Restored the app icons in the Dock. Checked iTunes and all the music was missing. Found the music in the Library and restored iTunes.
Computer still cannot find iPhoto, iMovie or iMovie HD. Where are the programs? What do I do?
    PowerBook G4/1GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Also it has three question marks, if you scroll over them it say iphoto on one, iMovie another and the last iMovie HD and it doesn't let me open them.
These dock icons (which are just aliases) have either lost the original location of the applications they refer to, or those applications are no longer installed.
I'd guess the former. Look in your Applications folder for those applications. If they are there.
    1. Drag the ones on the Dock with the '?' off the Dock to remove them, and then,
    2. Drag those referenced applications onto the Dock, one at a time to replace the icon with a working one.
