I need your help, i am confused about one issue.
My instance r11 db10.2.0.3 on linux. I am following 2 note:
1.Deploying Sun JRE (Native Plug-in) for Windows Clients in Oracle E-Business Suite 11i [ID 290807.1] << per this note i need to upgrade my developer 6i, for some specific reason i must use Patch 18 thatswhy i follow below note:
2. Information on Previous Versions of Developer 6i Patchsets [ID 232313.1]
Followed this note and in Additional Developer 6i Patches there is one patch (Customers using Linux must apply the interoperability patch (3830807)) this patch also mention the Upgrading Developer 6i with Oracle Applications 11i [ID 125767.1]
In note Upgrading Developer 6i with Oracle Applications 11i [ID 125767.1] it says linux user must apply but in note Information on Previous Versions of Developer 6i Patchsets [ID 232313.1] it doesnt place for Patch 18 in table.(so i dont apply this patch)
I try wiht jre-6u18-windows-i586.exe and jre-6u17-windows-i586.exe but
I made upgrade and when i try to login ebs i have below error in java console(on my machine):

Any one has idea? I checked Apache and Jserv log too but cant find similar in metalink

Hi friend,
I am checking problem more than 2 hours... I try it wiht one other machine too and had same error. But some of other client can connect system wihtout problem(also install jre6u17 their system in the beggining) for a now issue seems solved. But i am still looking why i am having error and some others not (also reinstall java but no lock)

Hi Rajesh ,
First of all be aware that not all versions of 10.1.3 AS are certified with JDK 6, you need to have at least 10.1.3.4 .
Next, you can either upgrade the JDK for the whole AS, or just for oc4j_soa component.
There are several docs on Metalink that explain how to do this, and I recommend to take a backup of your OH before changing the JDK .
Suppose you already have JDK 6 installed , just edit opmn.xml and add the line
<data id="java-bin" value="/usr/jdk1.6.0/bin/java"/> <--- here put the path to your JDK
just below
<category id="start-parameters">
of the oc4j_soa component.
If you have problems just restore the old opmn.xml from backup and you;ll have back your original settings.

I have Weblogic 4.5.1 running on JRE 1.1.7,SPARC Solaris 2.6 platform.I need to upgrade the JRE to 1.3.I am given to understand that there are no issues about this w.r.t Weblogic(see http://www.weblogic.com/platforms/index.html#solaris).But I have conflicting reports that W 4.5.1 will not work with JRE 1.3.Please advise on this as soon as possible.It's urgent and I do not have the time to experiment.You could reply to [email protected]

There should not be any issues with running WLS 4.5.1 with SunSoft SDK
1.3.0. This is a certified configuration.
BEA recommends using this SDK with Sun Microsystems SPARC with Solaris
2.6 and 2.7.

Pl post exact OS and database versions. Are you wanting to upgrade the Java version in the database ? If so, that is not possible.

Does anyone know the proper installations steps when upgrading from JRE SUN j2re-1_3_1_12 to 1.3.1_19?
SAP has instructed that the US DST 2007 changes are reflected in the new JDK and we should update our JRE accordingly.

FCS2 "Something Happened" message at load, other upgrade issues URGENT

Final cut studio has been giving me a "Something Happened" message every time I load it since after I upgraded it. What is this?? It seemed at the time that the upgrade to FCP Studio 2 installation went well...no weird messages or anything.
I did the upgrade at the end of last year and Ive been using the software OK with three exceptions:
1.- The FCP "Something Happened" message always appears when the OS loads...
2.- The new COMPRESSOR wont load at all....ever! (I installed ALL upgrades frpom the web and ALSO downloaded the compressor upgrade (from Nov 07) and installed it "by hand", but to no avail.
4.- FCP cannot render exotic effects (For example the ones that work in Motion)Final Cut pro asks me to upgrade my graphics card from the old 60 mb NVIDIA GEFORCE that came with the first system to a larger one.
I just bought it through the net and it should be here in a couple of weeks. (I am in Nicaragua, Central America).
I dont know what to do about the compressor (I need it urgently but dont know how to uninstall and reinstall ONLY compressor).
My machine specs are
Model POWER MAC 7.2
CPU Power PC 970 (2.2)
2 CPU Units
Level 2 cache 512 KB
Memory 4 GB
Bus speed 1 GHZ

Im very afraid of doing a full reinstall for a couple of reasons:
1.-We dont have a reliable and FCP-savy MAC techie in Nicaragua.
2.-I am not 100% sure I have ALL of the disks for all of the previous versions of the software
3.- There are a lot of other things on that drive that I am afraid of losing.
Do you have any other ideas??
Do you think issues will be resolved when the new video card comes??
Is there any way of installing (In the meantime) only the previous version of COMPRESSOR??

I saw in the Oracle Java SE embedded system requirements page that the JRE for "Java SE Embedded 8 Headless on ARM EABI, Little-Endian, Linux" is
installable only if my embedded platform meets these requirements:
- Linux: kernel 2.6.28 or higher; glibc 2.9 or higher
Question: Can i upgrade to java 8 with my current setup and how can i achieve it ?

My organization is experiencing very similar problems. We have resolved it through several steps.
We upgraded the client to Java 8 and we saw in the console that the hanging connection with the Domain Controller no longer occurs. This may be all that is necessary for your environment as well.

Yes, please do post the details of how you made auto install work with any jre! I'm having trouble getting JWS (that comes with 1.4.1 beta) to recognize a 1.3 jre over installing a 1.4 jre. My jnlp file has this:

So, I'd expect JWS to use 1.3 before trying to install 1.4. What I'm after is minimizing download time for people who already have 1.3.

JWS Extensions, and Upgrading JRE/JDK

We're using Java Web Start to deploy a java gui app, which needs third party libraries. One of these libraries is the Bouncy Castle crypto library, and signing issues mean we can't repackage this library into our main one, so we use the extension method, with a separate jnlp file etc. to copy the BC library to jre/lib/ext/
This works, and works well.
Until a client 'upgraded' their installation of the JRE. This client installed the latest 1.4.2 JRE "over the top" of the existing JRE (without uninstalling the old one).
As of that moment, our app refused to load. Because a new JRE had been installed, jre/lib/ext no longer contains the crypto library. And JWS doesnt notice.
I'd like a way of forcing JWS to install the extension, or at least to clear its extension cache so it reperforms the checks. Any ideas?

This is a well known problem. If you use extension installer to install files in jre/lib/ext. It will only be there for one update version.
One way around this is to just use a component extension instead of an installer-extension, that figures out itself where jre/lib/ext is, and checks if the jar is installed, and installs it if it is not there.
another way is to use specific installer extensions for each update release:
something like this:

Managing distribution to upgraded JRE

I'm new to issues of dealing with Java upgrade and multiple JRE.
We have an accessibility component that people often wish to have installed by default to all the JRE on the machine.
Currently we are trying to resolve at least 3 issues:
* how to distribute JARs that work with the different JRE ( for instance our code must change between 1.3 and 1.4)
* how to locate all JRE - sun, MS, ibm, oracle...
* after we are initialy installed, when a new JRE is installed, how to automatically update the new JRE rather than users having to manualy re install - or sysadmins having to update the java package being distributed.

If OWA works well, it should be an issue on the Outlook Client side.
If OWA not works neither, it still the permission issue. It need sometimes to sync the operation.
Please run following command to verify the owner permission:

Uploaded Image gets corrupted after upgrading jre from 1.3.0_02 to 1.3.1_15

We were running jre 1.3.0_02. The image upload functionality was working fine with this version. But after upgrading to jre1.3.1_15, the uploaded image shows correct file size but it gets corrupted.
Please help.

I found that the problem with encoding. If wrote a sample application which read gif file and print the value.

Should I upgrade JRE from 1.4.1 to 1.4.2?

Hi,
We have a bnuch of JDBC-oriented Java applications, that do a lot of string manipulation and database queries (using JDBC) as well as using JDOM to process XML. There are around 20 applications and they run 24 hours/day and send messages to each other via JMS (which uses a separate commercial J2ee application).
I am considering upgrading the entire 'system' of applications from 1.4.1_05 to 1.4.2 simply to be 'supported' if a minor patch update is required - as was recently for the commonwealth games in Australia.
Although I've read the list of changes and the bug fixes between 1.4.1 and 1.4.2, I'm not too comfortable updating without hearing about other experiences and/or general advice from people who actually create these releases.
My thoughts on the upgrade path (eventually to 1.5) is to upgrade the system of 20 or so applications to start using 1.4.2 JVM - while the classes remain 1.4.1 compiled.
And if that works, and we're in 'supported' zone, we can later down the track move to 1.5 and recompile all the applications under 1.5.
That is to say, I feel that there is some unwanted risk in trying to recompile everything to 1.4.2 now. The applications are all up and running 24 hours a day so I need to minimise disruptions.
Does this sound reasonable? I can appreciate the desirability of running the same JVM that compiled the classes but should that really make any difference between minor versions? Isn't the basic purpose of minor releases to avoid compability problems but to provide various essential fixes and features? (I know minor release are no longer planned).
In other words, from what I understand, upgrading just the JRE from 1.4.1 to 1.4.2. should be a no brainer and practically without any risk at all. Is this how it's supposed to be in theory?

I'd like to chime in and just say that not everyone is having a bad experience. From being completely new to OS X Server, I've been relatively pleased with everything so far. I'm starting from scratch and not doing anything too crazy with Directory Services or Kerberos or anything, but I do have iCal Server up and running along with the wiki and File Sharing.
I will say the iCal settings are cluttered and a little confusing to wrap your mind around but it is definitely possible to get working. I haven't had any of the aforementioned AFP problems. It seems like most (not all) people are having problems when the Open Directory node is not the Master node, or when people have upgraded from 10.4 instead of a fresh install.
If you're looking to start a new service, like Final Cut Server, I'd say go for it. If you have a solid 10.4 install right now, I'd say wait until 10.6 and start from scratch unless you NEED 10.5 for something, but that goes for ANY program or operating system, not just OS X.

Patch upgrade problem - Urgent

We have upgraded the patch to 19 in our BW Production.
After doing so the users are not able to access through Portal. They are getting the error " Run-time error '91': Object variable or With block variable not set". Can anyone let me know what might be the issue or which GUI version is compatible for this particular patch.

ACL-list syntax error in PIX after upgrade, need urgent help!

Hello everyone
We have a setup including Cisco ACS + a VPN 3005 Concentrator and a PIX 515E (7.2.4)
We upgraded the PIX version from 7.0 to 7.2.4 and suddenly our downloadable access-list was getting refused when users authenticated against the ACS.
When debuging radius in the PIX we found that entering this line in the downloadable access-list give error and stop the users of getting the ACL.
"deny ip any 192.168.0.0 0.0.255.255"
PIX refused to process their auth request when encountering this line.
Fine we said, we changed the ACL syntax to this : deny ip any 192.168.0.0 255.255.0.0
This made the PIX process the ACL.
We were happy for awhile until VPN users started to complain.
It seems that the VPN 3005 cant deal with the syntax we entered in the PIX!
The VPN 3005 doesnt seem to be able to handle the acl line "deny ip any 192.168.0.0 255.255.0.0" !
It can only handle "deny ip any 192.168.0.0 0.0.255.255" !
Which the PIX cant handle..
I'm a loss at what to do here..
We got VPN users who cant surf now with these ACL problems.
What can I do? Anyone else encountered this?
We upgraded the VPN 3005 to the lastest SW version

I don't think Cisco ever changed anything on the PIX. It uses subnet masks from day one AFAIK and VPN Conc uses wildcard masks like IOS. You can use the acl-netmask-convert command on the ASA to fix this issue. This way you define a willdcard ACL on the ACS/AAA server and then use this command on the ASA to use the same downloadable ACL for both devices (PIX,VPNC).

Auto upgrade jre and auto retain java.policy

Hello,
I need to automatically update clients with jre 1.4.2_07 and also retain the existing java.policy from the previous version (1.4.2_04). I have the jre installation kicking off correctly (with IE and XP) using
codebase = "http://myserver/jinstall-1_4_2_07-windows-i586.cab#Version=1,4,2,70"
but I also need to use my existing java.policy before the rest of the applet loads.
I am not familiar with cab files, but is it possible to add a subsequent step to the jre install which would replace the generic java.policy with my specific java.policy? or any other way ??
