Thank you Sig. Well I keep all my passwords in my keychain. I'm concerned I'll lose them after today. I understand that keychain will be obsolete after today. I don't want icloud either, because I don't want all my personal info on a server. I want to keep my personal information in my system. Am I making any sense? If you are asking what happens when you delete an iCloud backup, it only deletes the backup from your account. It won't do anything to the data on your phone or in your iCloud account. If you don't need to backup you can delete it. (If you no longer want to back up your phone to iCloud, turn iCloud backup off in Settings>iCloud>Backup. Then your phone will back up to your computer each time you sync it with iTunes.)

How to make mac address gmail contacts overwrite the ones on my HTC Android phone - I don't want to sync - that makes the phone scramble and overwrite my computer. I want to remove or correctly overwrite the phone information as I have done with iPad.

Please help - I am beginning to hate google, my android and gmail. I have just wasted about 5 hours in a futile attempt to try and get my current Mac contacts list on my computer updated to my phone. I'm not that computer literate but I have looked up about google phone accounts, vCards, backing up contact lists, what SD on phones are, and God know what else. I have searched the internet and tried all sorts of things and I still have a mac with a now correct contact list (after the iPad contacts scrambled it and I spent ages manually correcting them all) and a phone with an outdated contact list. If you try and sync them the phone wants to overwrite the computer one just like the iPad did (would it be so **** hard to give you a choice on the phone as to which overwrites which!). After all the advice on the internet failed, I got the bright idea to completely delete all the ones on the phone and if it was empty of contacts the computer one could be exported to it. Not as simple as it sounds. First I backed up (I think) my computer contacts list. Numerous futile attempts to go through the phone options to globally delete all contacts did not work - they gave a warning message and you got to choose whether to continue or not, I did, and it looked like it might be working as it changed to zero data on the phone, but then they all popped back up again from God knows where from, but without their little added bits like pictures of the people. So, I tried un- syncing the darn phone from google and then deleting them globally. That didn't work either. I tried deleting them all again and again and google would crash and not let me do it. It is absolutely ridiculous that this is so damned difficult to do (especially if you are not computer savvy) and that you cannot choose which device overwrites which when syncing. I gave up and ticked sync with Google again (not that it appears to do anything to the phone contact list at all). So after 5 hours I am back to where I started from, with a phone showing all the same incorrect contacts (but the pictures are back), which wants to overwrite the computer if I try any sort of sync, and no way to fix them except go into each one manually and try and do it - and how long would that take (and I've already wasted hours and hours fixing scrambled contact lists!). I think I will do a print out of the computer contact list and just carry it around with me like an address book - so much bloody simpler. So now I have a headache, am fighting an overwhelming urge to hurl the phone at the wall, hoping for a heat wave to evaporate icloud things and am wishing I had bought an iPhone instead of the stupid HTC Android. Can any one offer me any suggestions on how to get rid of the contacts on my phone and replace them with the ones in my mac address list - hopefully after that they can sync to their hearts content and not stuff everything up again (which was why I unsynced google a while back - because the phone's list kept making stuff ups and scrambling and duplicating my computer contacts list). Am I the only one on the planet having this problem or is there someone else out there who has had it and solved it.

Without "pretending" to be yourself on the other phone (change settings) there's nothing else you can do.
iOS devices are meant to be single user and can't view iCloud.com the same way a Mac or PC can do.
You need to find a desktop or laptop machine (Mac or PC) to log in at iCloud.

And in grouping key i can define the shift and shift sequence. So if im maintaining both of these ( standard avilable capacity and grouping key), which will be considered to calaculate avilable capacity?

Break :03:00:00 ( 1 Hour per shift so 3 hrs for 3 shifts)
No.of individual capacity :1
System will understand that it is round the clock operation with total three hour brak and you will get 21 hour per capacity

I never used icloud before so there is no data to back up from. I just spoke to the apple store and they said that if I do plug it in, all the data will be swiped....is there a program I can use to transfer my data from my phone to computer without loosing it all ???

How do I change them back and how do I keep this from happening again. I don't want to have to select a different format every time I try to open a document. That is a pain in the neck. I want to "click to open" and the document be in it's original format. If necessary I will go back to one of the other browsers I have used in the past. As I don't want multiple browsers on my computer it would be necessary to uninstall Firefox. I like it so far other than you all hijacking my documents and altering the way they open. You also might want to remember that even the "legitimate" folks on the internet are seen as predatory, i.e., gathering information, tricking us into installing crap we don't want or need, and in some cases, requiring a specific program to open a specific document. I'd be working very hard to show you are trustworthy. If you have a solution to this and it is complex then you will be wasting your time and my time trying to explain it. You guys created this so, if I'm going to use Firefox, you fix it on your end. FYI, if I have to uninstall Firefox I will, when asked, strongly recommend against using your service. Thank you.

Do you mean PDF documents?
The installer was supposed to add Firefox as an ADDITIONAL viewer for PDFs, not as the DEFAULT viewer. Sorry you were affected by this glitch and hopefully they will figure out why some systems get changed this way.
You can try this fix suggested by a user in another thread:

No reason to be embarassed. You are not alone.
You will need an external drive. If you have a Time Machine drive without enough disk space you can create the clone there however it's advised that you keep your Time Machine and clone on separate drives. If the drive dies you loose both types of backup.
Download and install the clone software. Everyone has their favorite. These are the two most common applications used. I prefer SuperDuper because of it's simplicity in setting up. It's also free for the first clone where with CCC you have to give a Credit Card then cancel if you do not want to keep.

I have only one Apple Id, which is my email address "[email protected]". My Apple Id and primary email are the same. I now have a new email address, and want to change my Apple Id to my new email address. I've been to the Apple Id support page, and have found out how to change the Apple Id on the Apple Id support webpage. I've been reluctant to go through with the process, because I'm unsure as to what the consequences will be if I change my Apple Id. I have an iPhone and an iPad as well as two Macs and an Apple TV hooked up to my Apple Id. My iMac is the main computer used for storing all files and syncing my iOS devices. In addition my contacts and calendar is in the iCloud. I hope someone with the know-how or experience can help me answer the following questions:
1. iPhone and iPad: Once I change my Apple Id, have I understood it correctly when the next thing I do is that I go to General settings -> Store, and sign out from my "old" Apple Id, and then sign in with the new name for my Apple Id? Will my previous purchases of music, ibooks and apps be connected to the new name of my Apple Id, and will I still be able to get previously purchased apps updated? As for iCloud, what must I do on my iPhone and iPad to make sure that contacts and calendars keep in sync?
2. iCloud: Will changing the name of the Apple Id on the Apple Id support webpage be the only thing I need to do, or are there more steps to follow?
3. iMac and MacBook Pro: Am I right in assuming that all I need to do is sign out from the old named account and then sign in with the new name in AppStore, iTunes, FaceTime and Messages app? Is the Apple Id in use by any other apps or functions?

It won't immediately delete previous backups of the items you exclude (but it will, eventually). You can do that yourself, if you want, per #12 in the Frequently Asked Questions *User Tip,* also at the top of this forum.

I have a jailbroken iphone 4 still running on 4.3.2 firmware and I would like to get rid of the jailbreak and update it to 5. I understand that it will take my jailbreak off, which I have no problem with, but I'm terrified to plug into the computer. I recently got a new macbook, but none of my info for itunes is on there and I'm scared if I put my iphone into the macbook I'll lose all of contacts! That's what I'm worried about. I don't care about the music or the apps and not so much the pictures. I'm just scared to lose my contacts. So does anyone know what will happen since it's jailbroken and I'm on a completely different computer?

I ask because I primarily use my work laptop which has limited space so I usually convert my purchases to 160k from 256k in order to save space. I want to sign up for iTunes Match but I'd like to know before I do so I can understand how I will have to set up my library.

How do you mean? If you down-convert purchased tracks you've fundamentally changed the files so iTunes can no longer recoginize them as "purchased." And, indeed, they no longer are since they are brand new files. Of course these new files will only be "matched" or "uploaded."
