  • UPGRADE THE PLM SYSTEM FROM NWBC 731 TO NWBC 740

         Hello,
We want to Upgrade our PLM system from NWBC 731 to NWBC 740, for this it is better to have a SANBOX system to upgrade there first the NWBC740 and do some tests. And if everything is in order to Upgrade in the same time the DEV and TEST system?
Do you now a better way to do such an upgrade?
         Thanks in advance,
         Florin Bosorogan

    Hello Florin
Transporting across different BASIS releases is generally not a good practice and this is one of the main reasons why SAP insists on having the systems on the SAP landscape on the same release and patch level.
There shouldn't be a big gap in the time for starting the upgrade on the test system.
If the upgrade on the development system went fine then I would start the upgrade on the test system immediately.
I wouldn't basically let the development team transport the developments created after the development upgrade to the remaining systems in the landscape (especially production) until I complete the upgrade on the production system. The upgrade process is a planned activity.
Yes transporting a transport request across different releases is possible and SAP has their recommendations for that.
If there is a need to transport some emergency changes to the other system then it should done after consulting with the ABAP team about the possible impact on the system.

  • Migrating Portal Content from a previous release

I am stuck up with a challenging task. I am new to Portals and will really appreciate your help.
I have installed the new OAS 10.1.2 version and upgraded it to the Portal 10.1.4 version. There is a some Portal Content present on different OAS installations which are earlier versions of the server (9i and 10.0.3)
Can i migrate this Portal Content to the new Portal Server (10.1.4)? Please provide me with the appropriate information.
    Thanks

    Hi,
It is not possible to migrate portal contents to the different version of Portal. In order to export the portal contents both the source and destination machine should have same Portal version.
As a work around you need to upgrade the Portal instance in other OAS to the highest Portal version(10.1.4).
You can refer to the Note 263995.1 for portal export and import, and you can also find the portal export and import document in the below link:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/portal.1014/b19305/cg_imex.htm#i1030999

You can't. Nothing that runs under v10.1.1 can run 10.5.8.
No MacBook Pro can run under v10.1.1.
So something in your post is wrong.

  • Upgrade/Migration using PCD from 8.6 to 10.5

Customer has a cluster with a publisher and 7 subscribers.  Infrastructure is a mix of 6 spec-based VM servers and 2 MCS servers.  I am considering using PCD, but I have the following questions:
With the mix of virtual and MCS servers, do I need to do a migration vice an upgrade?
If I do the migration, does this essentially double the virtual real estate required until the migration is complete and I can delete the 8.6 servers?
Any other gotchas that I should be aware of?  This will be my first PCD upgrade/migration.
    Thanks in advance,
    Nathan Richie

PCD will install and push the info one server at a time, you can either keep the same IP addressing and hostname, or change it. If you're going to keep the same, you need to build a separate network with ALL the services you have in production and make sure you do not cause a conflict by separating the networks.
If you have the CAR DB at full capacity, delete the records to avoid timing out.
And as Aman said, 10.x and above are ONLY supported over ESXi, no baremetal support.

  • Open Service Connection to Enterprise Portal system from Solution Manager

    Hi All,
We are getting below error, when we tried to Enable/Open Service Connection ( DSWP -> Solution Landscape ->Service Connection) to Enterprise Portal system.
Here we selected the row Connection -> R/3 support  and Connection tab -> open/change connection and clicked on SUBMIT. The we got below short dump.
    Runtime Errors         UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION
    Exception              CX_WD_CONTEXT
    Short text
An exception occurred that was not caught.
    What happened?
The exception 'CX_WD_CONTEXT' was raised, but it was not caught anywhere along the call hierarchy.
Since exceptions represent error situations and this error was not adequately responded to, the running ABAP program
         'CL_WDR_CONTEXT_NODE===========CP' has to be
        terminated.
    What can you do?
Note down which actions and inputs caused the error.
To process the problem further, contact you SAP system
        administrator.
Using Transaction ST22 for ABAP Dump Analysis, you can look
at and manage termination messages, and you can also
keep them for a long time.
    Error analysis:
An exception occurred which is explained in detail below.
The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_WD_CONTEXT', was not caught and
        therefore caused a runtime error.
The reason for the exception is:
The node does not contain any elements. COMPONENTCONTROLLER.1.SYSTEMS.1.CLIENTS
    How to correct the error:
If the error occures in a non-modified SAP program, you may be able to find an interim solution in an SAP Note.
If you have access to SAP Notes, carry out a search with the following keywords:
        "UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION" "CX_WD_CONTEXT"
        "CL_WDR_CONTEXT_NODE===========CP" or "CL_WDR_CONTEXT_NODE===========CM00R"
        "_RAISE_ELEMENT_NOT_FOUND"
SMSY configuration ( logical component assignmnet) is alredy done. Is it required to do any other settings. SMD ( Solution Manager Diagnostics ) settings are not done. Is this required?
We are able to enable/open Service Connection open to ABAP system . Only for Java system we are getting error.
    Please help me on this.
    Thanks..

  • Upgrade/Migrate Planning application from 11.1.1.1 to 11.1.2.3

I have installed 11.1.2.3 on Window 2008 R2 servers.  Our old environment is on  11.1.1.1 is still up and running on different server(windows 2003).  I have successfully completed the following:
    1.     All Hyperion products (HSS,BIPLUS,CALC MGR,EPMA,Planning,FDME installed successfully and everything working fine.
    2.     I am able migrate the all FR reports successfully(Export/Import method) and Yet to test the reports after application migration.
    3.     I created  Planning apps in the new system which is similar to old application , I can open the Planning Application Administrator via WorkSpace URL.
My question :1) Can i migrate Planning repository DB schema from SQL server 2005 to New application schema on SQL server 2008.
(There is any update required before and all the repository table of 11.1.2.3  similar to 11.1.1.1
                       2) How can i migrate the Business rules to  Calc manager(.i.e 11.1.1.1 to 11.1.2.3)
                       3)How can i migrate the FDM application (.i.e 11.1.1.1 to 11.1.2.3)
Please let me know if you need any further information.

First of all 11.1.1.1 to 11.1.2.3 direct migration is not supported so if you have issue upgrading planning then unfortunately that may be the reason.
SQL Server 2005 to 2008 should be ok but if you are concerned then upgrade the sql server 2005 version to 11.1.2.3 then use LCM to change database versions.
Business Rules read the following support doc - "Hyperion Business Rules (HBR) to Calculation Manager Migration White Paper (Doc ID 1528121.1)"
    FDM - Upgrade utility.

  • Technical Upgrade of the system from R/3 4.6 to ECC 6.0

Hi all i have a query regaring system upgrade:
    Currently i have 2 systems R/3 4.6: Development(D1), Quality(Q1).
Now this systems needs to be upgraded to ECC 6.0.
First the D1 is going to be copied to a new development(D2).
Then D2 will be upgraded to ECC 6.0.
Here a unicode check and other required modification (code compatibility) to
all the customizing and workbench objects is to be done.
Now a copy of Q1 is to be done in new Quality(Q2).
My requirement is to determine all the transported requests from D1 to Q1 and
then transport the same from D2 to Q2 so that the unidcode complaint objects are transported and they overwrite in the new quality system.
Is this process feasible? If yes, How?
If anyone has worked on technical upgrade project, please suggest?
If any other information is required pls mention.

    hi.
it sounds quite complicate for me...
you do not need to upgrade D2 to ECC 6.0 to be able to do the unicode checks. when you go to transaction se38 and select the report Z* you will find something like "unicode checks active" in the properties. if you enable them and check the reports you will find the problems regarding unicode...
i think there is another problem too. what are you doing with the unicode-enabled transports on system D2? you transport them to Q2 and what else? Are you transporting them to D1 too? If yes it is possible that you will overwrite the originals on D1 (it depends on your settings on system D2).
    hope my answer helps...

    martin

  • Upgrade/Migrate Essbase Standalone from 9.3.1.0 to 11.1.2.2

I've got a standalone 9.3.1 instance that we want to take to 11.1.2.2.  For us, the most cost-effective way is to patch 9.3.1 to a release we can migrate from, compatible with 11.1.2.2. So it's 9.3.1 to 9.3.1.6/9.3.1.7 in place and then to 11.1.2.2 on new hardware.
My concern is the move to 9.3.1.6.  Has anyone done this, and what are the pain points? My users are only in Essbase (security).  I believe I've read they need to get out of Essbase before going to the 11.1.2.2 HSS/Essbase scenario (HSS required for install/startup?)
    Anything that I *shouldn't* do?
    Thanks in advance,
    -Vince

If it is standalone and only Essbase personally I see no point in patching and then upgrading to 11.1.2.2, I would prefer to have a clean install and then migrate the application as if you moving to 11.1.2.2 then no doubt it will be new hardware and OS.
One possible method would be to install and configure 11.1.2.2 then use the EAS migration wizard to migrate the Essbase applications, data would need to be migrated separated.
You would also need to consider security if you are moving to Shared Services security in 11.1.2.2
It may be worth discussing your options with a consultant as there important points that should be covered which is probably not for a forum.,
    Cheers

  • Migration SAP-System from 32bit-server to 64bit- server

We want to change our SAP SOLMAN EHP1-system , which running
    on LINUX SLES9 32bit ( with MAXDB 7.7 ) to a new target server with LINUX SLES10 64bit ( as well MAXDB 7.7 ).
We have also the same OS Linux but differents releases.
My question: Can I perform this change with the tool "homogene
Systemcopy" or is there any other solution for this problem ??

A Solution Manager is a combined ABAP + Java system. You can do a database copy approach but you must use sapinst to migrate the Java part (it's all included in sapinst).
Keep in mind that your JDK changes, for 32bit Linux you must use the Sun JDK, for x86_64 you must use the IBM JDK. The migration may fail on initial attempt since the parameter for the Sun JDK are different to those for the IBM JDK. You'd then have to adapt the parameters using configtool before you can continue.
Apart from that it should be smooth.
