Upgrading to JDK 1.3 supposedly fix Java.exe (Dr.watson errors)

Has anyone ran into the problems with Dr. Watson popping up when Java.exe
crashes?
Rumor has it that upgrading the JDK to 1.3 solves the problem.
This is a pretty general question, but does anyone have any ideas?
Sincerly,
Mike Kendzierski

Sounds like a find 'n' replace operation in your source code to me....
Replace all your references of Currency with your fully qualified pathname.
JavaLint (freeware) is a handy tool to perform strict checking of your source code. It finds unused variables & import statements, and complains if you use wildcard import statements, as you have done.
Might be worth including in your version control system "checking in process", or code review process in the future.

Maybe your java.exe and javaw.exe are infected by virus..
You can try running a virus scanner program..

As far as i remember i faced this problem when the memory of my pc was broken. So it may not be a problem of java or html code.

  • Java.exe (urgent,urgent)

I am developing a project using jsp,oracle9i database with the
builtin apache webserver provided by oracle, operating system
    win2000.
I am frquently getting java.exe error, which is listed below.
java.exe has generated errors and will be closed by
windows.you will need to restart the program.
an error log is being created.
please can someone help me to debug it.

Actually, I had the same Java.exe application error on NT4 while running JSP application with JDBC connections. Had the Metalink folks baffled, but it turned out to be the JDK that installs with 1.0.2.x. Install the latest JDK, and reconfigure JServ to use it and you're in business!

  • Java.exe with 9ias

Has anyone out there run into an issue with java.exe and 9ias running on NT4.0? It seems that java.exe reaches approx. 40MB then we get an apache.exe Dr. Watson error and our server is down. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.

    Rod,
This question is better suited to the Oracle9i Applications Server forum.

  • Java.exe crash on P4 machine

Is anyone aware of issues with running jdk1.2.2_008 or later on Pentium 4 machines?
I installed a app server on Windows 2000 on my home machine and when I try and start it, a Windows popup window appears saying java.exe has generated errors. Where should I look for a more detailed error message?
The software runs fine on my laptop running 2000 and the only major difference I can think of is the Pentium 4 architecture.
    Any help appreciated!

Have you found a solution to this problem? I am running java applications on numerous IBM desktops (not P4's)running Windows 2000, but have tried installing JDK1.2.2_006 on a Dell desktop with P4 processor and java.exe aborts with exception nr c0000005 (access violation). I have been cussing Dell, but is it the P4?

  • Buffer Overrun in java.exe

We are getting OS pop up error message about buffer overrun in java.exe. This error occurs in production environment and till now we couldn't find out the cause. We have java application in OC4J (Oracle containers for Java) running in VMWare. OS is Win 2003 and java 1.5.0_16. Are there any ideas how to solve this problem. Is this related to environment (VMWare itself), java version (we tried _14, _15 and _16) We patched OC4J, etc..
    Regards,
    Simon

You are getting a system exception.
Most system exceptions are caused by JNI, either yours or a third party library.
If and only if you are not in fact using any JNI nor any third party libraries which do so (since you are using at least one third party you must verify this) then the following possibilities exist.
    - The environment is corrupted. Some install got garbaged, or done in the wrong order, etc. This is not solely limited to java.
    - There is hardware failure of some sort.
    - There is a bug in the VM.

  • The java.exe error

    Hi everyone
I'm totally new to database stuff.
After I set up oracle 8i, java.exe always has error .And when the computer start up,the error information pop up.What can I do to resolve it?
    Thanks and regards.

If you are just starting out you might want to start with the latest version, 10gR2.
Start with the XE version. XE is good starting point and its free.

You can also download JDeveloper too.

  • Upgrading to JDK 1.2.2 with Ora Apps 11i

a patch that we need to apply requires us to upgrade to JDK 1.2.2. In the doc describing this process, we find instructions to comment out the line referencing to current JDK (wrapper.bin=[ORAHTTP_TOP]/jre/1.1.8/bin/jre) in jserv.properties... WE DONT HAVE THIS LINE, but what we do have is wrapper.bin=/u01/test/apps/testcomn/util/apache/1.3.9/Apache/jdk/bin/java
    Has anyone run into this?
    we didn't modify this file
    thanks

3.1.2 contains some minor bug fixes and should not present any major hurdles for you. Just be aware that PC anti-virus and firewalls can interfere with the OS download and upgrade. Best to disable those before you get started.

  • Upgrade from JDK 1.2.2 to JDK 1.4.2. Any code changes required?

    Hi,
We are in the processes of upgrading the JDK versions on servers to JDK 1.4.2 to support other software upgrades.
The JDK versions on each of the servers are at different versions. On one of the servers, the version of JDK is currently at JDK 1.2.2_10. Can somebody please advise me if there would be any code changes required to support this upgrade (such as some methods being depreciated)?
We are also evaluating if we need to upgrade to JDK 1.4.5. In such a case, would there be any code changes required to upgrade from JDK 1.4.1_x to JDK 1.4.5. I assume there wouldn't be any changes for this minor upgrade but just want to confirm.
I would really appreciate an early reply.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Vamshi

    "1.4.5" - you meant "1.5" ? :)
About deprecations -- you will be warned by the compiler. E.g. "assert", "enum" are keywords and cannot be used as method names.
The rest depends on your application. The more complex it is, the more differences can be encountered. You certainly need to run a test cycle for it with the new platform.
From my experience, I can list some issues that I have read about or have experienced myself:
    1) serialization: the algorithm used to calculate the serialVersionUID had some changes between Java versions, due to compiler-added extra methods.
If you don't have serialized instances, or your serialVersionUID is specified explicitly, you are safe.
    2) class loading order can be different in different platforms
Once ago I have seen a paper from BEA Systems highlighting some open topics that can arise when migrating between different vendor's JVMs. Probably, it is the one:
    http://edocs.bea.com/jrockit/geninfo/devapps/codeprac.html
In my friend's case, there was some class-initialization logic, that behaved differently when class loading order changed.
    3) Swing applications can sometimes behave slightly different.
E.g., I observed some changes in focus handling, although minor ones. Fixed with several lines of code.
    4) Some libraries can depend on particular J2SE version. E.g. J2EE ones.
E.g. I was not able to run J2EE 1.4 thick client application with JRE 1.5. The j2ee library used by the app either had some dependencies on sun.* classes, or on some protocols (not sure, I don't remember it well).
    5) Regression bugs are sometimes encountered. I.e. something that worked, does not work now.
    Summary: You need testing.

  • Oracle drivers not found by servlets after upgrade of JDK

    I am using jakarta-tomcat 4.0.1 with WIN2K.
After a recent upgrade to jdk 1.4.0_02 from jdk1.3.1, servlets that try to use oracle crash with this error:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/jdbc/driver/OracleDriver
         at ProductLookup.loadJDBCDriver(ProductLookup.java:23)
the code at line 23 is:
    DriverManager.registerDriver ( new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
This all worked prior to the upgrade of jdk.
The code at line 23 does work using the command line.
I did check the ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES - in my limitted knowledge they look OK. But I am sure there MUST be something missing &/or incorrect.
During execution, the servlet is just not finding "something".
I am relatively new to JAVA and especially new to servlets.
What should I look for to solve this problem?
    TIA
    WalkGood

The oracle drivers are in a file called classes12.zip.
Make sure that you unzip these files to where the
    servlets can find them.
    %TOMCAT_HOME%\common\classes
    or
    %TOMCAT_HOME%\classes
    or
%TOMCAT_HOME\webapps\{app name}\WEB-INF\classesIs %TOMCAT_HOME% an environment variable? I have one called CATALINA_HOME. It is set the jakarta folder "C:\jakarta-tomcat-4.0.1"
Something I noticed: If I execute tomcat "startup.bat" in a command prompt window, I see echo'd messages. One says "Using CLASSPATH: C:\jakarta-tomcat-4.0.1\bin\bootstarp.jar;C:\jakarta-tomcat-4.0.1\lib\tools.jar" but this NOT match the Environment Variable "classpath" which does specify the path to the classes12.zip folder. Should the "catalina.bat" file assemble the classpath to include the same Environment Variable "classpath" in addition to bootstrap.jar and tools.jar?
Where can I find specific documentation on how to setup the environment for jakarta-tomcat to find the ORACLE drivers during execution of a servlet?
    TIA
