Upgrading Wireless Suite to TLS 1.x and changing CBC to CTR or GCM

To anyone who may have a solution,
Is there anyone who has successfully upgraded an ISE Server, MSE 3355, WLC 5508, and/or Prime Infrastructure to rid themselves of the vulnerabilities mentioned in the title?  I have to upgrade these devices from SSL version (x) to TLS and change the CBC mode cipher encryption and enable CTR or GCM cipher mode.  I'm having a very difficult time finding documentation on how to do this.  Would fixing this require me to have a particular account with Cisco for them to look into and work (I honestly don't know)?  Would the current licensing on any of these devices effect these vulnerabilities?
Humbly,
Sam

1. Have you done a hard reset on the router?
I've done a hard reset many many times and still the problem exists.
If the problem still exists after doing a hard reset and not making any other changes, then you have a bad router.
Replaced the router and the problem still exists.
What you describe is not impossible.  The image for the router's firmware is stored in EPROM.
It can happen that bits get "stuck" in EPROM resulting in a corrupt firmware image.
I KNOW the problem is in the firmware BUT I am not able to get it through the thick heads of tech support who "might" be able to spell "IP". Actiontec will not speak with me about it since I am NOT a Verizon Tech Support person. Verizon Tech Support tells me that it is impossible for the IP address to be 10.168.1.X.
My cell phone wireless has been allocated an IP address of 10.168.1.101 by the router that Verizon tech spport says can't happen and Tech Support is coming to my house this mornnig to check my system. They will see 1st hand the impossible.
One Tech Support guy said the problem is that I have a switch downstream of my router and it is allocating the incorrect IP addresses. Not sure how a network switch that has been working properly for years can all of a sudden start telling a router to allocate IP addresses all on its own. BTW, this happened AFTER an update to the firmware.

  • Nokia PC Suite 6.86.9.0 and change default path

    Hi,
Does anybody know how to change the default paths for "File Manager", "Contacts" and "Messages"?
When entering those parts of PC Suite it automatically tries to open C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia PC Suite 6 folder (installation folder) but in my case this path _must_ be changed in order for the application to work (We use Softgrid to virtualize the application and cannot use hardcoded paths).
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

what about installing the app to a different folder that you need from the very start?
also this path is mentioned in the following registry key
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Nokia\PCSuite\ApplicationPath1
but i'm not sure if its a good idea to mess with it

  • Upgrading and changing plan

I currently have the old unlimited data plan (with Friends and Family 1400) and due for an upgrade. I want to upgrade my device to the Samsung S4 AND change my plan to the "Share Anything 6 GB" plan.
When I upgrade, select the device and add to my cart, it doesn't give me the option to choose the Share Anything plan. It wants me to pick varying levels of 2GB and 5GB plans. (Here's a screenshot of what it looks like after I select the device: http://awesomescreenshot.com/06f1vlzzbc)
I have 2 smart phones and a basic phone on my plan.
If I choose to change my plan first -- then it lets me change it to the 6GB Share Anything plan.  But if I do that, will I then be able to upgrade my device? Or will I be restricted for some reason? Just curious if anyone else has this problem.

I'm sure you're excited to be ordering your new device, petersruby. The S4 is a great looking device with performance to match. I would suggest changing the plan before the upgrade. If you have the option to backdate the plan I would suggest doing this. A future dated plan order may cause you to run into trouble when ordering the device since another order would already be present.

I have Adobe Creative Suite 5 Design Premium (Teacher and Student Edition).  I've purchased the upgrade to Adobe Photoshop CS6 - Trying to install, and it says the Adobe CS6 is valid - but only provides 'photoshop' options for entering my old serial number, rather than the adobe creative suite. How do I move past this so I can download it on my computer.  I don't want to upgrade to Adobe Creative Suite 6 - as I do not need all the programs, just photoshop.  From looking online, I read forums that said this was possible.  Please advise

I don't want to upgrade to Adobe Creative Suite 6 - as I do not need all the programs, just photoshop.
Unfortunately that option is not possible.
You cannot upgrade a Creative Suite to a standalone product.
Creative Suites can only be upgrades to other Creative Suites.
You'll need to return Photoshop CS6 upgrade since you cannot use it.
Return, cancel, or exchange an Adobe order
    Some options:
Buy a Creative Suite upgrade, or
Buy a full new copy of Photoshop CS6, or

If you are eligible for a new copy of the Teacher and Student edition, that is the way to go. It is generally cheaper to get new teacher/student versions than upgrade to a commercial version. However, with the Creative Cloud now available, I do not know if the CS 6 teacher/student versions are still available.

  • Just installed PC Suite 6.86.9.0 and now I can't c...

Wish I wouldn't have upgraded. The upgrade went well (no errors).
I have windows XP with SP2 and I connect my 6126 phone to PC Suite via a nokia cable. This has been working great for months. Today I got a notice that a new version of PC Suite was available so I installed it. Now when I click Connect in PC Suite and walk through the (4 step) wizard I can't get past step 3 where it says "Please connect your cable to the computer and your mobile phone to the cable..."
I connect it up exactly like I've done a dozen times before, and the wizard never sees that my phone is connected.
Connecting my phone used to work fine with my old version of PC SUite (don't know the version).
I have restarted the phone, and rebooted the computer, but still can't get PC Suite to see that my phone is connected.
Any idea what might be wrong?

I am having the same trouble as every one else, now I have upgraded PC Suite it does not work at all. I have checked in Computer Manager, Device Manager and yes there is a yellow tag on "Wireless Communication Devices, Nokia E65". I have tried to do the update driver but get the same Parent error & Fatal error on installation.
This needs to be fixed ASAP by Nokia as I rely on my syncing of data from my laptop to the phone.
This shows a complete disregard and disrespect for your paying customers and I can advise you that if this issue is not rectified quickly by Nokia, I will be purchasing another manufacturers phone, and my corporate policy globally will be not to purchase any other Nokia phone.

  • PC Suite sync'd just once and now refuses....

I downloaded PC Suite 7.1 (latest version) today (with the sanctioning of our IT support department at work) and installed it on my work PC running Windoze XP.  After running through the PC Suite installation routine and connecting my N900 by USB cable, and setting PC Suite to delete everything on the phone and write the Outlook date from the PC, it worked : 1,500 contacts and four months of calendar entries now appear beautifully on my N900.....
....but it only worked once.  I reset the sync setup to do a proper sync, (rather than a PC push) and now the PC says it's waiting for the N900 each time I connect and ask for a sync to start.  This waiting happens despite my telling the N900 to connect in PC Suite mode.  Moreover, the Sync/Connect box no longer appears if I click on the N900 system tray (top left of the screen where the battery meter appears)  The Sync/Connect box did appear when I did my first sync.
Anyone have any ideas?   My PC has some lock-down features. I work in a corporate environment.  I don't know if this could be the problem especially because the first sync did work.
    Help please!

  • HP PhotoSmart 6520, Printer offline, Wireless printing from Windows 8.1 and others

My parents own an HP PhotoSmart 6520. They have 3 or 4 computers. 1 Is connected to this printer via USB cable. 3 Are "connected" over wireless. The printer has the latest firmware updates according to checks from the printer front display.
    Problem is this:
    1) When first starting the printer, and the printer gets on the wifi network, all wifi-available devices can print to it over wifi. We are also able to browse to the printer config web pages to see status, and change configs as needed.
    2) After about 5 minutes of printer inactivity, all wireless clients can't print to the printer to print, and can't connect to the printer's web page. (The printer appears to be offline to each OS that uses WiFi to get Internet access.
    3) If we visit the printer control screen, physically attached to the pinter, find the network configuration, and choose to "turn off" wifi at the printer, then after off, "turn on" wifi and see an IP address get assigned, then all WiFi machines can print to the printer over WiFi. However, after 5 minutes, again, the printer is offline. No matter what or how much each WiFi-based machine sends to their printer queue/spool, the printer remains offline.
    4) If the USB-connected machine prints to the printer over USB, the printer once again becomes available over the wireless network.
The work-around is terrible. (Cycle WiFi access every time they need to print from Wireless devices.)
    Things we have tried:
    1) This is running the latest firmware according to the WebService section request to check for upgrades. They are on the latest according to the results. (no help)
    2) DHCP was the initial config for network settings. I moved to a DHCP server configuration with static IP served by printer MAC address. (No help)
    3) I switched to totally static IP address, thinking it might be a DHCP lease-time/renewal issue, or custom vendor string issues or bug. (no help)
    4) Enabled/Disabled IPv6 even though they are on a NAT-ed network with only IPv4 support. (no help)
    5) Visited printer config with web broswer, and change energy saver setting from "5 minutes" to "15 minutes" because the ~5 minute window seemed like an approximate time limit. (No help)
    6) Enable/Disable other settings through the web and restart the printer. (No help.)
    7) Suggestions listed here: http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Photosmart-6520-e-All-in-One-Printer-series/5169038/model/516... (No help)
In testing this, with static IP or not, from other machines, when we can print over WiFi to the printer, the IPv4 address is ping-able from peers on the network. After ~5 minutes pass, and the pinter goes "offline" there are no ping replies to the static or other IP address assigned to this printer. By all accounts, when the printer is "offline" it really is no longer on the WiFi network. Meanwhile, oter devices can ping each other. (All computers, smartphones, tablets, etc can all respond to ping.)
None of the other devices suffer from dropped access to the WiFi and Internet.
    Suggestions?
I do not have access to this right now, but I can walk my parents through whatever steps are needed to resolve this.
    Thanks!
    P.S. Other things tried:
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Networking-and-Wireless/If-your-printer-drops-off-your-network/...
    1) When online, generating report, reports online
    2) When offline, report reports that it is still associated with access point
    3) Printer is about 2 feet away from the access point it is communicating with and has max-bars showing signal strength.
    4) Channel allocation for WiFi was selected based on least used channel, and works very well for all other devices on this channel.
    5) There is only one accesspoint with the name it associates with.
    6) The only options for power-saving "auto-off" we see via web pages from printer are: 5 minutes, 10 minutes, and 15 minutes, and changing to 15 minutes does not allow the printer to remain online for 14 minutes -- it still goes offline to the network after ~5 minutes -- even agfter changing this settings and power cycling the printer.
    7) No wireless extender is being used.
    8) We tried static IP, Dynamic IP, and statically assigned DHCP served IP.
Once printer is "offline" when visiting printer to tell printer to disable WiFi access, then re-enable it, all machines with items in their printer queue/spool *immediately* de-queue/de-spool their printer jobs to the printer.
This is the closest description: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Install-Setup/Photosmart-6520-goes-off-line/td-p/324... Where is that patch?

    Hi @TheSynAck,
I see you are using a Hot Spot, I believe we have found the reason for the connectivity issues. There may be a setting that needs to manually configured for the Hotspot to 'allow' your printer access. Also, hotspots may have limitations and restrictions that may cause connectivity issues.
Take a look here: Setting up the Printer as a HotSpot, it shows a Laserjet but the same steps apply.
Keep in mind that Hotspot connections are 'best effort' connections due to the issues of inconsistencies within the connection. They are not routers. Therefore, you may experience issues in the future when using the Hotspot for your connection. Usually a powercycle or hard reset of the HotSpot will resolve such issues.
I would not recommend getting another Hot Spot as the connection is not guaranteed, you could however try a Wireless Router if you are looking to upgrade anyways.
With the PS 6520 you also have the ability to print using the HP Wireless Direct printing option. Please click on the link below to get started:

I hope this gives you a better understanding of the intermittent connection issues.

  • WRT54G Wireless Setup page won't load and other issues.

Well I have had quite the mess the last 24 hours. I'll start from the beginning and attempt to spell out the issues I am having. I have had this router for 4 years or so and have never had a problem.
I recently purchased a PS3 and started using the wireless feature that it offeres. Well I was having problems staying connected and was running in to IP address conflicts with my laptop. So I thought I would cure that by moving the router to the ps3 and using a wired connection for its internet. So that is what I did and that is when the problems started snowballing!!  After I got the router moved and everything set up, all seemed well at first.
Shortly thereafter I realized I was still getting IP conflicts. So i did some research and saw where I could dedicate an address for the ps3 and also change some of the wireless settings on the router homepage. I previously had never password protected my network. I'm in a rural area and there aren't many people around that would be trying to get on it. But I figured since I was there I would rename the network and password protect it and all of that. Well that didn't help either. I was still having problems.
I then did all of the resets. Online, on the unit and also a power cycle. So I was back to square one with the settings at this point. So today I noticed that my connection would go from its norm of 54mbps down to1 and then lose connection. I did the resets and restarts and all of that, to no avail. Then it got to the point where it wouldn't connect at all. I checked the actual connection by connecting my computer directly to the modem and it worked flawlessly. So I know it is a router problem. I also tried using 2 seperate laptops and they both responded the same.
I think part of the issue I had then was that the modem and router were on my entertainment center and weren't very high and were in a shelf. Also, my surround sound receiver does use a wireless connection to 2 of its speakers. I didn't know the proper placement of a router until I had this problem. Now that it is back in its previous location the connection seems to be normal, although once in the last hour I did drop down to 1mbps and have to disconnect and reconnect. But it hasn't happened again so far.
However, I am unable to access the wireless page on the router setup page. I did yesterday but it won't load today. On either computer. So I am unable to change the name of my network or assign a password or change any other wireless setting. And again, I've tried every reset method and it still don't work.
Also, does anyone have any advice on the conflicting IP addresses with the ps3? They sent me an email stating that it may be a port or firewall issue? After doing some online research it seems this particualr router has had a lot of problems getting along with the ps3.
I hope I haven't put in too much information but I was just trying to make sure I had any questions I could think of answered ahead of time. I've tried about every avenue I could already. I tried the chat help and was told I didn't qualify and was sent to the phone assistance who after a half hour realized I didn't qualify for that help either. So, here I am!!! Thanks ahead of time!

Make sure that there is no static IP address on any of your computer. You can assign a static IP address on Play station.
Connect the computer to the router with the Ethernet cable.
Download t he latest firmware from Linksys website and save it on your computer.
Open the setup page of the router. Go to Administration tab and click on Firmware upgrade sub tab. Browse the firmware file that you have already downloaded and upgrade it on your router.
After upgrading the firmware on your router, it is recommended that you should reset the router and reconfigure it. Press and hold the reset button on the router for 30 seconds. Release the reset button and wait for 30 seconds. Power cycle the router and reconfigure it.
Change the MTU size on the router to 1365.
Go to Wireless tab and change the wireless network name and channel to 11. Also change the wireless security settings.
