Upload of chart of accounts at coa and company code level

dear all
can you tell me how it is best to upload a new chart of accounts both as a chart of accounts level and company code. i am planning to use lsmw but shoud i upload chart of accounts first then company code level?
with many thanks
Peter

Hello Peter,
If you have single company code then create one LSMW for transaction "FS00" it upload the COA both at company code and COA level. If you have morethan one company code and you want to upload same COA to both company codes then better first COA level with FSP0 then company code level with FSS0 because here you can extend the required GL's from COA to COmpany code.

  • Assign chart of account to a new company code

    Dear all,
I have created a new company code in system(copy an existing company code data). When I am going to a new chart of account to the new company code, system display an error message as follows:
Reset company code data before changing the chart of accounts
    Message no. FC140
    Diagnosis
You have selected a different chart of accounts for a company code.
You must, however, reset the company code-specific data for the old chart of accounts beforehand.
    Procedure
If you really want to allocate a different chart of accounts to the company code, first of all reset
the company-code specific data for the old chart of accounts.
First of all you must, if it exists, reset the transaction data for this company code.
Finally, carry out the resetting of the company code-dependent G/L account master data
    (without the general master data).
    Note:
When dealing with large quantities of data, resetting the master data or transaction data can be very
time-consuming. In this case, it is advisable to schedule the running of these reports as a batch run.
Do anyone know how to solve this problem?
    Thanks
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
I think you have copied the co. code using Trcode , When you have copied the co code all the gl master records from the source co code is also coiped to to the target company code. these gl masters use the COA(Chart of accounts)  used by the source co. code.
If you want to assigna new COA now to the target co code then you have to delete all the gl accounts from this new co code you can do this by executing TR Code OBR2. Select the gl accounts, Select the check box for "with general master data" and provide the company code and execute. Now you can assign a new COA to this new company code

  • Valuation at plant level and company code level

    Hi,
Can someone explain me the difference between the valuation at plant level and company code level with a real world example?
    Regards,
    Malsha Kalubowila

    Hi,
Inventory can be valuated at two levels either at company code level or at plant level. If you select valuation at company code level, all materials across all the plants will have same material price since valuation is at only company code level.
Say for example Company code 1000 is buying a material which unit price is Rs. 10 from a vendor who supplies to two different plant A & B of company code 1000.  Assume Plant A is situated near vendor premises itself (so freight cost is Re 1 extra)  whereas plant B is situated at far away from vendor place (so freight cost rs 2 extra) and both cases freight cost is borne by the company and not by vendor.
Assuming you have selected valuation at plant level, now in plant A same material will be valauted at Rs. 11 (10 +1) whereas at plant B it is valuated at Rs. 12 (10+2).
Whereas if you have selected valuation at company code level, price will not be valuated at plant level rather at company code level which will get updated at moving average price in this case.
So it is always best practice to select valuation at plant level rather than at company code level.

  • Extending 200 GLs from COA to company code level at one go

    Hello All,
Wanted to know if there is any way of extending a list of GLs from COA level to company code level at one go?
I had copied about 300 GLs at COA level using OBA7 and now want to extend about 200 of them to a company code. Is there any transaction code with which I can copy/extend all these 200 GLs to the company code?
    jw

thanks Murali_Babu. N for your reply. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that you can use OBY7 to copy GLs from an existing COA to a new COA and then extend the required GLs from the new COA to a company code. I did the first step using OBY7 but then forgot what is to be done next. Thanks to you both, now I know we can do it with LSMW and also  BDC but wanted to know if there is any way by which I can continue with OBY7 and any other tcode.
    thanks.

  • Regarding Purchase Org at plant and company code level

    Hi MM Gurus,
I am supposed to prepare an organizational structure,
The procurement of raw materials is done centrally at corporate level,
and other nonstock items are done decentrally at plant level.
Is there a way we can design the organizational structure, based on material type.
How to define a purchase org for different material.

    Hi,
Purchase Organisations can be based on material type.
purchasing org is where negotiations & vendor finalisation is done by the procurement team. this purchasing org is responsible for all material types.
you have decentralised policy of procurement. raw material is managed at corporate level, centrally. and non-stockable, fast moving items are managed at plant level.
You can have a individual purchasing org for each plant and assign it to them. a central purchasing would be assigned to all plants. You can keep the central purchasing org as reference purchasing org.
when you want that the prices fixed by central pur org should be applicable to all plants, then you need to create contract (OLA) in reference pur org. this contract is applicable to other plants by default.
    Hope this answers your query.

  • Account Determination at Company code level for an interface

    Hi All,
We need an account determination table at company code level that will be used by an interface to find the GL accounts for a particular company code.
This is required for interfacing certain GL documents onto SAP and the account determination need not be hardcoded in the program.
    Kindly revert with your ideas.....
    Regards,
    Gangs.

    Hi Gangesh,
All the account determinations will be done only at the Chart of Accounts level only.  You cant show me even one account determination which will be done at the company code level.  (without giving chart of accounts before assigning a GL)
So only table T030 will be the right table for you.  Hope you understood,

  • Different chart of A/c for different company codes

    Hello ,
As per my Knowledge we can have Multiple Chart of account for multiple company .   We have 5 company codes ,
    2 Company codes are Germany
    1  Company code in India
    1 Company code in US
    1 Company code in Brazil.
    1) shall i maintain only one chart of account for all the company codes, if i done like this what will be the advantage and disadvantage?
    2) If Suppose shall i use Different Chart of account specific to Country?
    3) If suppose i used for two country one chart of a/c and for another two country another chart of a/c.....(total two)
which is the best solution? if you have any different idea let me know.
    Thanks
    sapman man

    Hi,
Control area is having the authorization to allow the chart of account for a particular company code.
The company codes are belonging to a particualr Controlling area, definitly they (Company code)are using the same chart of A/C is used by CA.
defenitly CA (controlling area) has only one chart of A/C.  So if you need to maintain the company codes are belonging to different chart of A/Cs, you have to assign them different CAs which have their own chart of A/Cs.
    This is my understanding...

  • How to integrate operating charts of account to country and group coa

    Hi Sap gurus,
How to integrate operating chart of account to country and group chart of account
    Regards,
    Rajesh

First create the country chart in OB13 and assign the same to OB62.
Then for each operational chart of account, enter the country chart of account in FS00 and this will be captured in field Alternate account number.
The relationship between operational to country chart of a/c is 1:1.

  • Diffrence between Master Chart of Accounts and Company Code Chart of Accoun

    Hi,
what is the Diffrence between Master Chart of Accounts and Company Code Chart of Accounts?
    Regards
    Divya

    HIi
Mater chart of accounts is nothing but the main account that is created at the client level.
    we have 3 COA
    1. Group chart of accounts
    2.country specific chart of accounts
    3. Operating chart of accounts
we can have maximum 3 chart of acocunts assigned to each company code
Company code chart of accounts is can be operating chart of account which contains the group of account used by that company...
If some specific requireement is there for the country reporting purpose than we need to use that and maintain that ,
Group chart of account is used for the consolidation purpose.
like we have 6 company codes under one company in differnet countries.. so here they will have one common COA which will consilidate the business of all 6 company codes...
Hope u understand wht u wanted..

  • Chart of accounts in valuation and account assignment

    Hello,
Pls, someone advise, I want to make valuation at plant level, but I want in transaction obyc (configure automatic posting) to have option of entering valuation at plant, meaning that I want to enter plant, valuation class, than number of accounts (debit, credit).
And want to have option to enter it for every plant.
Pls, can it and how it can be done?
    thanks in advance

<b><i>"but the problem is that I want to have different account for every plant, not only for valuation class but also for plant and valuation class."</i></b>
Under the same chart of account you can assign different G/L account for different plant (Valuation area) using the valuation grouping code (VGC).
The baseline for account determination is
Chart of account --> Tran Event Key --> Val Group code --> A/c modifier key --> Valuation class -> G/L account
    - It will identify the chart of account based on plant which is used in the transaction. (Plant is assigned to company code and company code uses chart of account)
    - Mvt type will identify the tran event key
    - Valuation grouping code will be identified by plant (Plant = val area (if valuation level is at plant level) and valuation area is grouped in T-code OMWD)
    - A/c modifier key will be identified from mvt type (for tran event key GBB, PRD, KON)
    - Valuation class is identified from material or material group.
Based on the above combination G/L account will be identified for the transaction.
    Hope this will help.

  • Multiple Chart of Accounts for one holding company.

    Hey,
I recently encountered a scenario where a Holding Company will have several companies under 5 different sectors under it. If we call the holding company 'ABC', all the other companies under the ABC company will be segregated to 6 main sectors which spread across, leisure, Retails, Sales, Healthcare, etc.
If I was to implement Hyperion Planning for the above scenario, what would be the best approach?
    What I think would be feasible is to;
Create 5 Chart of Accounts for the 5 different sectors under which the companies would be allocated to, and map all these 5 Chart of Accounts to a Chart of Accounts of the holding company (ABC Company) using Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management and the Hyperion Data Quality Management Adapter.
Would you agree this to be correct?
Appreciate your thoughts and any experience anyone may have with such an implementation.

    Hi,
         Do what ruju posted,except:-
Assign alternate chart of accounts to your company code.
This has to be the last step since you are doing it retroactivly(because of b) ). Once the assignment is made:-
                      a) Assignment   Account to Alt.Account   has to be 1:1
                      b)  The alt.account can not be changed/entered once the account has been posted to.
Once you are productive, depending on your system design either make the alt.Account a required field or create a validation to give the same effect. This is to avoid the situation where you are constantly unassigning/assigning the country COA because the entry was forgotten.
    Kind regards

    hi geeta,
ClientA Client is the highest unit within an SAP system and contains Master records and Tables. Data entered at this level are valid for all company code data and organizational structures allowing for data consistency. User access and authorizations are assigned to each client created. Users must specify which client they are working in at the point of logon to the SAP system.
A CompanyA Company is the unit to which your financial statements are created and can have one to many company codes assigned to it. A company is equivalent to your legal business organization. Consolidated financial statements are based on the companyu2019s financial statements. Companies are defined in configuration and assigned to company codes. Each company code must use the same COA( Chart of Accounts) and Fiscal Year. Also note that local currency for the company can be different.
Company CodesCompany Codes are the smallest unit within your organizational structure and is used for internal and external reporting purposes. Company Codes are not optional within SAP and are required to be defined. Financial transactions are viewed at the company code level. Company Codes can be created for any business organization whether national or international. It is recommended that once a Company Code has been defined in Configuration with all the required settings then other company codes later created should be copied from the existing company code. You can then make changes as needed. This reduces repetitive input of information that does not change from company code to company code as well as eliminate the possibility of missed data input.
Business Area Business Area is optional and is equivalent to a specific area of responsibility within your company or business segment. BA (Business Area) also allows for internal and external reporting.
Another configuration requirement for set-up in SAP are the Basic settings consisting of the following:
    Chart of Accounts(COA)
    Fiscal Year Variants.
    Currencies
    The COA(Chart of Accounts)
The COA(Chart of Accounts) lists all General Ledger accounts that are used by the organization. It is assigned in configuration to each company code and allows for daily General Ledger postings.
    Fiscal Year configuration
Fiscal Year configuration is a must and can be defined to meet your companyu2019s reporting periods whether Fiscal (any period combination that is not calendar) or Calendar( Jan-Dec).
Posting Periods are defined and assigned to the Fiscal Year.
Within the periods you specify start dates and finished dates.
SAP allows for 12 posting periods along with specially defined periods that can be used for year-end financial closing.
