in your site definition, change the local root folder to the
folder that conatins your pages.
It seems that currently your "local root folder" is a folder
that contains a folder that contains
your pages...

In trying to transfer iWeb pages (not uploaded) to another computer I went into the Library and transferred the domain onto the desktop. Disaster! On opening iWeb all previous (uploaded) sites have disappeared. On opening the domain all I can recover is the many component parts, and when unzipped the code. Help! Mike

Code in a domain file - really?  That is not possible because the domain.sites file does not contain any html or css code at all - the domain file is your iWeb data file and you won't see any code until you publish your website.
If you can see html code, then you have the wrong file and it is a published version of your site which iWeb can do nothing with - iWeb has no import facility so cannot open any html files.
Go back and ensure that you have the correct domain.sites files that can be found under your User Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites and if you have Mavericks then you need to go to Go and press the alt key to reveal your hidden User Library, so that you can then get to Application Support and then iWeb and then your domain.sites file.
You will also need to go and download either DomainCracker or iWebSwitch which allows you to open individual domain files under Mavericks, because from Lion onwards, you cannot open individual domain files.
Also, it says that you are still using iWeb 08?  If this is so, you'll either need to upgrade to iWeb 09 by going to Amazon and purchasing the iLife 09 or 11 boxed set, both of which contain iWeb 09 or you need to switch to newer software that is actively being supported and developed such as EverWeb (http://www.everwebapp.com).

According to below reference it seems your doc is correct but hosting provider may not support  your content type header. Short answer is ask your hosting provider, but there are some troubleshooting suggestions as well in the link below.

  • How to upload site created with Dreamweaver via FTP to the iWEB server?

    Hi everyone,
I recently created a site on Dreamweaver and want to upload the site, via FTP to the iWEB server. My questions are the following:
    1. What is the FTP host address?
    2. How do I connect to my website via FTP?
Any help on the following questions will be much appreciated.
    Thanks!

Hello Lauretta and welcome to the forum.
You do not connect to iDisk via FTP. iDisk uses WebDAV. Also you do not need to manually upload the published files to iDisk as recommended buy others in this thread. Once the site and server is set up in DW you can publish and upload directly through DW.app Check out this post for more info.

  • Upload site from Fireworks ?

    Hi,
This is probably a really dumb question, but I need to ask
    it.
I have designed a site in Fireworks now I want to upload it
to my host can I do it straight from Fireworks or do I need to use
fireworks in conjunction with Dreamweaver. ?
What is the difference between Fireworks and Dreamweaver ?
    Thanks in advance.

Fireworks was developed for creating images for the web, and
    not entire
sites. Dreamweaver is an HTML editor, and the program you use
    to build
Web pages and sites. The normal workflow is to export your
    images from
Fireworks to your Dreamweaver site, and then use Dreamweaver
    to add the
    images to its pages.

  • IWeb Creates weird address and folder when uploading site

I am building a site for my company (www.jgpinc.com). I have a couple of questions. First of all, when I upload the site and go to it, it creates a new directory and the address goes from www.jgpinc.com to www.jgpinc.com/www.jgpinc.com/home.html. Why is iWeb creating a new subdirectory called www.jgpinc.com? Secondly, in the header, our company name shows up as JAMes g. palmer appraisals, inc. How do I correct the capitalization problem?
    Thanks!!
    G-

Why is iWeb creating a new subdirectory called www.jgpinc.com?
Because you named your site inside iWeb www.jgpinc.com. Change that to "jgp" or whatever and republish.
Complete iWeb sites always show the site name in the browser address bar. Of course the url you give to people is still just www.domain.com. iWeb's ftp does not have an option to upload incomplete sites. If you want to get rid of the site name, you must manually change the site structure either before or after uploading. If you do that, any RSS subscribe links will not work. Another option is to forward www.domain.com to www.domain.com/sitename, if your host allows that.

  • Uploading problem/question

ive added music to a few of my friends ipods. One of them has the Nano, the other has a 60GB iPod video. Uploading music to the 60GB was as easy as plugging it in, and dragging music onto the ipod icon on the left playlist screen in iTunes. With the Nano, not so easy. It doesnt allow me to drag anything into the iPod icon while its connected, and when you actually click the icon to see whats on the iPod, all of the songs are dimmed gray. Where as the 60GB's songs were normal, and black in color. My 30GB does the same thing as the Nano.
I've tried to make a playlist of the specific songs i want uploaded onto the Nano, and ive made it so it updates only that specific playlist. But when i do, it overwrites all of the music previously on the Nano.
Is there anyway to make it so the songs arent dimmed gray, and i can just drag songs to the iPod icon to be uploaded? Or is this just some special feature that only the 60GB has?
If anyone could help, it would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Compaq   Windows XP

music downloaded from websites such as Purevolume.com, myspace.com, and other mp3 hosting sites where the band allows you to download songs. The two people ive helped out are either computer illiterate, or they dont have easy access to the internet.
even if i were to put a cd that i purchased onto their ipod (which im not). That is about as harmless as walking across the street outside of a crosswalk. Its illegal, but who really cares. Once its on their ipod, they wont be sharing it with anyone, and i have better things to do other than adding music to every one of my friends iPods. Its just these 2, thats all.
My question was just wondering why, on the Nano and 30GB, the music, when you click on the ipod icon, is dimmed gray, but on the 60GB its not. And is there a way to change this.

  • Here we go again...multiple sites question

    hey all
ok i know i am doing something stupid...have read this entire bloody forum and still not getting it..
i have two domain.sites2 in my lib/appsupp/iweb folder..when i click on one iweb opens it up, can edit, publish to my dotmac account all good.
but...the usual problem: i can only publish one without the other one being ''over-rided''
one of the sites has domain forwarding thru yahoo.
i tried publishing that one to a folder and replacing the ''index.html'' on my idisc but that just took me to ''safari cannot find server'' yet when i go inside idisc/sites/ and go into one of the site folders and click on the 'index.html'' it takes me to the site on safari but the url is really long and starts with ''volume'' something i don't think i've seen before.
shouldn't the urls be ''web.mac.com/username/sitename?? if so, how do i make that happen? i have read all the links here on the forum but none are working for me. Er, or I am just not getting it. Most likely the latter.
thanks! sorry for the long post. help.me.please.

    To jctez:
You are not alone! I had the same problem and was on this forum a few weeks ago. None of this makes sense to me, either. Here's what I did to solve my problem:
    1. If you can afford about $10 a year plus a reasonable hosting fee, buy a new domain name and hosting service at godaddy.com. They are wonderful. Dotmac ***** for this purpose.
    2. Download an easy ftp software like Transmit (from Apple Downloads for free.)
    3. In iWeb, drag and drop the website you want to publish to your new domain name to the Top of the iWeb list on the left side panel. Make sure it now appears on top of the list of your websites.
    4. In the File menu, "Publish to a Folder." Just choose your desktop. ALL your websites will get copied to your desktop in respective folders, as well as an index page (index.html) for your desired website. Trash the other website folders and the index.html file. It will not effect your originals in iWeb. (You can do this now or later, and another index.html lives within the correct folder that you leave on your desktop.)
    5. Use Transmit (or your ftp of choice) to Upload the contents of the Folder with your new website to your domain server. Do NOT upload the folder itself - choose only the contents WITHIN the folder.
    6. Whenever you want to update this website, make sure the old folder on your desktop is trashed first.
Done. I hope this helps. It's awkward but it beats doing the fancy footwork with all these sites folders, etc. Let me know if this works for you.

  • File Upload PJC questions

    File Upload PJC
I have installed the File Upload PJC demo & got it working.
We are using Forms 6i patch 8 with servlet configuration, iAS 1.0.2.2.1 on Win 2000, Oracle 8.173
We want to upload/download files to the server & save them as BFILES in the database. I think I am on the right track but have some questions:
What do I have to change in the PJC to increase the memory so I can upload a file > 4 MB? We will be uploading some large files. I'd also like to ability to select multiple files to upload. I don't know much about Java programming but will learn if this is the best way to accomplish this.
I want to upgrade to Forms patch 12. I understand that it uses Jinitiator 1.3 & that it will popup a dialog when it sees a new signed Jar file & will automatically import the certificate if the user decides to trust it - but I read on the Technet forum there is a bug 2483719 - does this work with patch 12?
We also want to use the Native JVM for IE (when it will work with XP - is this patch 13?). What do we have to change if we create a signed CAB file?
We also need the reverse to download a file to the client - WITHOUT using web.show_document - since this does not always prompt you with a save dialog box & tries to open the file in the browser.
Any ideas will be helpful - thanks.

    Laura,
these are many questions in one post and I try to answer it as good as I can
We want to upload/download files to the server & save them as BFILES in the database. I think I am on the right track but have some questions:
What do I have to change in the PJC to increase the memory so I can upload a file > 4 MB? We will be uploading some large files.
As far as I know there is no restriction to the size of the file uploaded to the server. There exist a recommendation of to which size this bean has been tested. Due to the implementation of the Bean there are defined chunk sizes for the data passed, but this does not limit the size of a downloaded file.
I'd also like to ability to select multiple files to upload. I don't know much about Java programming but will learn if this is the best way to accomplish this.
Actually you will have to change the code then. First you need to set a porperty on the file dialog allowing the selection of multiple files. Next you will have to handle multiple files in the bean code. Yes, without Java you will not get there.
want to upgrade to Forms patch 12. I understand that it uses Jinitiator 1.3 & that it will popup a dialog when it sees a new signed Jar file & will automatically import the
certificate if the user decides to trust it - but I read on the Technet forum there is a bug 2483719 - does this work with patch 12?
The problem is that you use a different (custom) signature for the upload bean, after modifying it, that requires the user to first grant it permissions. The bug means that this currently cannot be handled with Jinitiator 1.3.x. The work around is explained in a Whitepaper on OTN about signing Java Bean in Forms (Forms9i collateral section). There is no dependency to teh Forms patch you use, but to Jinitiator. So yes, teh work around will work there.
We also want to use the Native JVM for IE (when it will work with XP - is this patch 13?).
    Possibly. That's the target patch.
What do we have to change if we create a signed CAB file?
You'll have to use the Microsoft SDK and refer to their documentation on how to create and use signed cab files. Shoudl be no big difference though.
We also need the reverse to download a file to the client - WITHOUT using web.show_document - since this does not always prompt you with a save dialog box & tries to
open the file in the browser.
This is a problems with files that the Browser has a MIME type map for. If you download a file with the .gif extension, then this is a known MIME type configured in the HTTP Server. Therefore the Browser recognizes that the downloaded stream is a gif file and tries to render it. You can work around it by making sure that the downloaded file extension is not knwon by the HTTP server (Mime type application/word).

  • Problem uploading site to server by FTP - index page is blank

    Hi,
I made my site in I web which works fine when simulating it in a local folder. When uploading by FTP to the server from a host where a rent my domain the program starts sending the files, but in the end it says publication error, try again later or contact your server provider.
I did contact the server provider and they do receive the pages that I am sending BUT:
    - everything appears to end up at the wrong place in the server
    - the index page that is sent with the other files appears to be empty, blank which results in the server not be alble to order the site and a white empy page is shown when opening my site on the internet.
I checked the html files which are all fine and when I send those to the server provider they seem all ok. But the index.html file is also empty on my computer. Is this normal?
My first page is called 'home' and we had tried to rename that home.html file to index.html and again upload the whole site. The result is that I can now see my homepage when opening the site on the internet but without the index on top (the names of the other pages where you can click to go to another page on the site) and that is it.
Can someone help me with this? Is this a problem with Apple, shoud the index.html file be blank? Or can they change settings in the server to solve this problem.
    Grtz,
    Kroko

iWeb was originally designed as a foolprof way to create websites and upload them to MobileMe.
Normally, the first, or Home, page of a website is named "index" since an index.html is required in the root folder of the server for everything to work as planned.
To stop us rookies screwing things up, and to overcome the limitations of a single MobileMe user account, the developers packaged the site files in a folder with the same name as the sitename in iWeb.
The top site in iWeb has an external index file which rediredts to the Home page so that it can be reached by the URL...
    http://www.domain-name.com
Any other sites are uploaded as sub sites and require the addition of the folder name in the URL...
    http://www.domain-name.com/Site-Name/
When you are uploading to a server other than MobileMe, you have two choices of publishing methods...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/Publish-Website.html
Using the iWeb FTP allows you to upload the files in a foolproof way to avoid breaking the site structure. If you want to remove the site name from the URL you can publish to a local folder and upload the contents only...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/URLs-Favicons.html
This latter method is only viable so long as you don't have a blog or podcast feed.

  • Thumbnails not displaying after uploading site

So I am not sure what else to try here. I possibly missed something easy. Well the paths to my images are correct the files are uploaded to the correct place on the host server as well. I have tried renaming and changing the file directory to no avail. well any help will be greatly appreciated here is a link to the troublesome page
    http://merepurposed.com/eyes.html
The error log tells me the files do not exist, but all the files are there and I have uploaded them multiple times. Any thoughts are helpful
    Thanks

The issue is the uppercase JPG in the image filename.
Your site is hosted on a Linux server where filenames are case sensitive.
The image filename in the code and the name of the image file on the server must be identical, including upper/lowercase.
    http://merepurposed.com/thumbs/launch_thumbs/ahoyt.jpg =  file not found
    http://merepurposed.com/thumbs/launch_thumbs/ahoyt.JPG = OK
Change all the image extensions to lowercase, either locally via Find and Replace in DW then re-upload or directly on the server via Remote View.

  • Upload site to .Mac made in another app

Is it possible to upload a site made in another application to .Mac without disrupting an established iWeb site? I have a domain name for my club site (made in iweb '08) but have made other sites with another program. I am too frightened of losing the first site to even try!

You can put any webpage on iDisk, either in the Sites (= HomePage) folder or the Web>Sites (= iWeb) folder.
iWeb and HomePage create a index.html file in the root of the server.
You can overwrite the file if you want or leave it.
Best practice is to put your own pages in a folder of their own.
You have to experiment to see how iWeb/HomePage handle their files.
    Here's how I do it: http://web.mac.com/wyodor/

    Thanks,

    Hi Sandesh,
this is simply not supported, not in WebDynpro nor in standard HTML.
A workaround is to upload a ZIP with all files and on server side unpack the ZIP and operate on the single files.
I hope it will  help u..
    ----------------------OR-------------------------
As you know using File upload UI element we can upload only one file at a time. There may be a scenario where user may want to upload any no of files at a time which is not determined at design time. This can be acheived using the ACF UpDownload UI element which requires a security whiltelist to be created
    http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-2270
    ----------------------OR-------------------------
You can use Table UI element.

  • Small web site question :(

    Hello....
I got the DW CS3 trial, and I have a question:
I made my site, but there's a problem. When I go to
www."mysite".com, it shows my newer index page. when I go to
"mysite".com with out the "www." it goes to my older one. I can't
even find the older one....Is there anyway to make it so when you
put the www in or not it still goes to the same thing, or is this
    more complicated?
    Thank you,
